I've asked this many times, how much NAV does the team own? Is it impossible to answer it?

I am sure they can answer that easy but it is not relevant.

Here is why:
  • There was no premine
  • Their holdings are either bought or mined in the PoW phase

I like to compare it like this. If you joined the development team tomorrow, would you have to sell your NAV Coins to fund the project, work for the project and spend time on the project? While others sit behind their computer asking for updates..

Also, this has nothing to do with the community fund. The community fund is not for the Core team. It is a fund for everyone wanting to contribute to NAV Coin.

Actually thats not quite technically true.....

What was the deal that happened when Soopy and shahim (the original devs) "left" ? And Craig took over? If I recall correctly there was a LOT of coins that were NOT claimed and there was talk of burning them but that was like 18 months ago maybe. That was going to go towards a dev fund...... Perhaps someone could clear that up? I certainly don't expect the devs to work for free and Have given them many donations over the years that are worth tens of thousands of dollars today but yeah I would like to know how much they hold but more importantly what happened to the coins that went from Summercoin to nav and then Nav v1 to Nav V2?

Thank you! still waiting for the answer...

I just started staking some NAV a couple of days ago.

out of 4 possible 'stakes'   2 of the 4 are orphaned, or as the transaction says:
Code:
Status: 0/unconfirmed, not in memory pool, abandoned
Date: 10/13/2017 12:05
From: unknown
To: NXstuffaddy (own address, label: mylable)
Credit: 0.08767123 NAV
Net amount: +0.08767123 NAV
Transaction ID: 79ed4af97284ca4a604415027c47b636337e5417ec499a3cf5aeaee319d36487
Output index: 0

Is this normal to have 50% not work?

No, it just happens sometimes, orphans are rare...

I joined NavCoin team in December 2016/January 2017 (can't remember exactly when) owning a personal bag of NAV from which I did not sell a single coin since then. I prefer to not disclose the exact amount, but you would need to click and scroll down on the rich list to find me...

Craig has compensated me with a variable salary since I started, changing the amount depending on the different projects I assumed and the fiat value of NAV. I've sold and traded part of the coins which I got as salary, which was never higher than 10k NAV per month. Also received donations from the community

AFAIK the Nav Foundation fund was over when I joined and was used to pay marketing campaigns (press releases) and server costs. Craig assumed all the costs from its personal money. Craig took over cause Soopy simply disappeared and abandoned Nav - without Craig the project would have died. There was no deal. Period.

Thanks for the clarification. You have to understand that the whole Soopy going awol was not (Is not?) common knowledge but as always transparency is always best. If you recall going back a while I was the first person to say that maybe soppy should "step down" and let Craig take the reins as he was performing miracles at a time when development was v. e. r. y. slow. if not non existent at times as soppy was working on multiple coins at that time and not an ideal situation.

With regard to your personal compensation, that is absolutely fine in my eyes. (and thanks BTW) your honesty is certainly appreciated.

The question of the "dead coins" is however still valid. Maybe they are just that, but they do need to be accounted for before people start citing no premine and no ICO etc. as the numbers are publicly available in this thread.

Thanks again for your insight. It is really appreciated and I learned something I didn't know.

No, definitely not a scam. As I said I have been with this coin for over 3 years.

As far as I am aware there was a date set for people to exchange old coins for new, then in addition to this the devs did offer to convert coins manually for people long after the deadline passed.

There is more than likely a very simple explanation, but like the Soopy "cloak and dagger disappearing act" it hasn't been relayed to the community very well if at all.

Really? You have a ballpark figure of what amount are we talking about?

Just trying to see if this is significantly more than can be explained between people abandoning/losing wallets and having them permanently locked in exchanges that never swapped, like yobit

After the bitcoin fork.
Now is a good time to buy. I was waiting for these prices to start buying, watching as it went down slowly everyday.
If you have patience to wait a few months, you can make 200% at least easily

As far as I know the remaining coins were used to pay development: Servers, press releases, marketing, etc. Bear in mind last year NAV's price was 10 times less than today.

Soopy and Strugg leaving the team I think it happened over time. Less and less involved. I think there wasn't an announcement.

Those are things more for Craig to response.

Hey guys remember:

Next week we will start a PoS vote about changing the reward system.

In order to be able to vote it's mandatory to update your wallet to 4.0.6

https://navcoin.org/downloads/

Pi Users can update entering the following script on the terminal (using ssh or keyboard+display):

wget -O - http://navcoin.org/files/update-navpi.sh | bash

Enable SSH NavPi Tutorial

A new tutorial is online!
It can be found at https://navtechservers.com/video-tutorials/navpi/

- Enable SSH (Secure Shell) on your NavPi for remote access: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6fgqHcz4R8

I recommend enabling SSH access, it is very easy for now and the future to remote access your NavPi.

Bittrex Wallet in Maintenance, What You Can Do to Help

A public service announcement from the Nav Coin team; The Bittrex Nav Coin wallet is currently in maintenance mode, meaning users can still trade but aren’t able to use the deposit and withdraw features. Don’t panic! This temporary maintenance mode will be resolved very soon with a bit of help from the community. Many users are still using old versions of Nav Coin (version 4.0.4 and previous) which is causing Bittrex to experience some intermittent network issues. The solution? Update to the newest 4.0.6 wallet here.

https://navcoin.org/downloads

If you’re using a Nav Pi to stake, we understand that the updating process can be complicated and time consuming for you. To streamline this process we’ll be releasing a Nav Pi auto-updater tool in the next couple of days; be sure to keep an eye out for the weekly update with more information on our new and simple auto-update features. If you can’t wait and want to manually update your Nav Pi you can follow the tutorial by NavTechServers:

https://youtu.be/I4cf9trOYYk

Regardless if you’re a Nav Pi user or not, to make for a timely solution we strongly urge users to update to the latest Nav Coin wallet as soon as possible. You’ll not only allow Bittrex to mobilize the Nav Wallet but you’ll also be able to participate in the Nav Coin Community Fund vote and garner from the latest Nav Tech features. #winning!

We’d like to reassure you that we are working hard to onboard the community with the newest wallet version and that Bittrex will resume withdrawal and deposit functions once majority users are up to date. In the meantime, if you’re looking to deposit and withdraw Nav Coin you can use alternative exchange platforms such as Poloniex, Alcurex, Cryptopia or LiteBit.

Thanks Juguelio,

Updated wallet yesterday to 4.0.6. Very simple just had to rewind blocks, but only a few older wallets left to update.

Guys I just downloaded Electrum NAV for macOS, version 3.6.0, I made a withdrawal from Bittrex, I can see them in the wallet and it says "not verified". I checked the transaction details and it has over 150 confirmations, what's the problem then? Thanks!
