Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Gentlemen, lets not get carried away.

more than 2 days passed, 3angle didnt bother to answer to my PMs despite being active and posting in other threads.
he didnt do shit for ~10 days now, he didnt even add the wallet DL links to the OP although I asked twice for it.

so we can probably assume 3angle is done with TRI.

the question is: is it worth the effort to take the development over?

currently the coin is a forky mess with a buggy wallet (sync-bug).

basically these things would have to be done:

* contact bittrex, tell them about "the plan". make sure they are on the same fork as most users (10333 blocks). the "right" chain is the chain where bittrex is.
* fix sources:
   - add checkpoints to  ensure future wallets users are synced to the right chain (no real effort, tbd in minutes)
   - address the wallet "sync-bug" which prevents the wallet from syncing from block 0 to current block in one attempt (currently several wallet restarts are required)
   - maybe hardcode some nodes if available
* create new github, upload new sources
* compile win and mac wallets (i could do the WIN wallet, would need someone to compile the MAC wallet)
* create new ann/takeover thread, release wallets

.....

am i missing something?

It wouldn't take much effort for the bare minimum required to get wallets staking again. Maybe that's a good start. Is anyone able to stake at the moment? My coin are on trex, I've been waiting for a wallet update.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to work at this point.  We need a dev to relaunch the coin with an extra 1,000 - 5,000 POW blocks.

Who wouldn't be interested in saving a coin they spend time mining?    Do miners and workers come home and throw the minerals they found away or flush their money down the toilet due to lack of interest?

I'm amazed at what I am reading here and the number of coins which are dying due to 'lack of interest' is disturbing.

I find your lack of faith to be a disturbance in the force.

lol

You just have another point of view. It's your fault if you were mining minerals which are nothing worth, I sold them as long as they were something worth and I am happy that I did not loose more. Blaming another people for not supporting dead coin is wrong, get out as long as you can and hang on a real coin with future and pool yout energy into this.

Or build a community and turn it around. Some people like to move to big cities, other people want to build them. The reward is greater in the latter.

You are funny - want more PoW-blocks, for what? - inflating coin-cap?

I think the coin is fine as it is, don´t speculate in any re-launch of any kind.

I was curious - and gave it a try. deleted my local blockchain files, tried to resync again. the occasional few restarts...and.....synced up to 10864.

- my bittrex transfer went through, im actually staking and mined a block.
- tried another small trasnfer from bittrex to verify, the transfer immediately appeared in my wallet.

so it looks like its working. still not great - but somehow.

hints:

if u are stuck @ block 103xx, youre on the wrong chain. delete your blockchain files. search a peer with 108xx blocks via 'getpeerinfo' in debug console, copy his tor address and start your wallet like this from the commandline (windows):

triangles-qt.exe -connect=<toraddressinclipboard>

repeat whenever the wallet gets stuck (at least block 9000, 9500, 10000).

peers.dat and blk00001.dat (10868 blocks):

https://mega.co.nz/#!ZQUCzILB!8w0obeEDOKyr-R7VWqaUbt6qyn3lUMspFD8F089xC2A

how to use peers.dat and blk0001.dat:

- (close wallet if not done already)
- replace your peers.dat @ %userprofile%\appdata\Roaming\triangles (windows) with the one from the archive.
- delete or rename your blk*.dat files in the same folder (both) and start your wallet like this:

triangles-qt.exe -loadblock=<path to extracted blk0001.dat from archive>            (like c:\blk0001.dat)

takes a few secs but your wallet should come up with 10868 blocks.
wait another few mins and you should have some connections.

use these wallets:

WINDOWS wallet, v 3.3.4.4 "illuminatus":

yep. also bittrex is sync again. my fuckup seems repaired. good. Wink

edit: more and more peers. now we need more stakers (or simply some time). some of my coins are in transit, rest is on stake (i forgot to set reservebalance to not put all coins on stake at once Sad )

Sneaky suspicion..., some will regret selling at 4000ish.

you know why.

Smiley

edit: i will bring another wallet in a vm online to further stabilize the network.

edit2:

OP UPDATED BY DEV! READ AND DO IT!

if u dont have a wallet yet, now is the time to get one. send some coins from bittrex to it and start staking. every amount staking helps to stabilize the network (and by doing this secure/increase the price of your coins)! Wink
