Being unaware of a niche feature isn't meaning to 'abuse my position', sorry. I stand to gain nothing either way. There still isn't any reason to load balance.

I'm not indulging in other arguments between you both but, I like to point out that there are many good reasons to load balance between pools, atleast for me.
I got the detail from the cgminer developer to use it directly in CGminer.
I can use the pool balance option for diverting a part of some of my miner's hash power which I rented for long term before overclocking.
I overclocked the miners and gained around 125Ghs additional for each mining Rig. I have 3 of such rigs.
Since all are on long term rentals, 125*3 = 375Ghs is going to waste if I'm not using it or giving free to rented miners.
So this will help me divert the additional 375Ghs from the already rented rigs to rent further or use my own.

I assume you're at the point where you're setting DHCP? If so, you need to then go back to your router and find the IP the Antminer was given and navigate to that. You're looking where the Antminer just was, not where it is now.

Fear not!  Bitmain is the best shipping from China I have ever heard of.  There is no extra tax or shipping when ordering from Bitmain directly.  My 3rd and 4th S3's from batch 5 will be arriving here in FL tomorrow or Thursday.  My 1st and 2nd were from batch 1.  The only significant difference between batches (that I have heard of so far) is price and shipping date.  Although some are reporting that batch 4+ miners are hashing faster than B1-3.

I don't really know anything about CoinBase, but I can't imagine why you couldn't pay directly from their site.  Transaction donations these days should be between .001 and .005 BTC for reasonable processing time.

That PSU looks good as long as it's one S3 per PSU .  Don't try to stack two to one.  But with 4PCI-e cables, it should be able to overclock as much as your S3's can handle.

Coinbase pays the miners fee themselves, so you don't need to put in any extra.
However, it takes for coinbase up to 1hr sometimes to have the first confirmation, so your transaction would timed out initially, but they (bitmain) usually reconcile it later either by themselves or if you send them email with your transaction id. If time is of no particular importance, but you want a peace of mind, send your coinbase coin to blockchain.info wallet first and pay from there, paying minimal fee of 0.0001 btc or slightlly above.

I assume you're at the point where you're setting DCHP? If so, you need to then go back to your router and find the IP the Antminer was given and navigate to that. You're looking where the Antminer just was, not where it is now.

OK awesome. I had that thought as I was falling asleep last night. Now I just need to figure out how. I went to my network (Motorolla SBG6580) and I don't see the antminer anywhere.

When I look at the DHCP tab I think that's the server which you didn't mention in guide. There is no antminer hostname anyways (I kept the name default).


*edit* It was the NAMELESS hostname! Gotta look out for that Motorolla users (I guess)

Can you help us lesser experienced miners to know the reason for using "stratum+tcp://stratum.btcguild.com:3333"?

Also, The wifi works on my units, even with no antenna they're picking up my home wireless network. I have some laptop wireless antennas kicking around the workbench, I'm going to experiment and stick one on ... i'll update later.

That's what I'm using as well, but after seeing Dogie's post I'm wondering if there's a benefit to having it as "stratum+tcp://stratum.btcguild.com:3333"

Strictly a mining pool *shouldn't be* a http, because its not - its a stratum server after all. Any big pool will probably have some wizardry to redirect the http through. Or maybe someone has updated the protocol somewhere, but tldr there was a reason to stratum+tcp:// at one point.

No. I think that was just the first minute or two as the miner adjusted to the pool. It's been a steady ~440. I've been checking it several times an hour.

I have one S3 that I set to 500GH, and it is stable at that speed over several days.

The only thing I did (because I was bored) is adding small heatsinks on the DCDCs. (which might not have helped at all, I just put them on there because I had them lying around)

I am quite confident that most miners run stably at 475GH without any physical modification, so just try it over a 24h period and see what the stats say.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered. Can the 750 W Corsair run two of these 340 W units?  It looks a little tight since there appears to be no on/off switch so they power up at the same time.

You may run the two S3-s with this Corsair 750 Watts for some time for testing purpose.
But at all good for continuous running both of your Ants even at clock speed.
Assume Ant S3 is consuming between 390W to 425W at clock speed for safety reasons and size your power supply.
Also, when posting next time specify Corsair's which 750W model you are using.
If its any lower end, from corsair it may even not good for test purposes.

So you can use it for test purpose.
For continuous running use something at 800W or above.
A 1000W is idle for you to overclock when required.

Hi guys. Any tips for adding a second S3 miner on the same router?

I can get to LuCI - Lua Configuration Interface @ 192.168.1.99 but then it craps out on me. The first ant is working fine on DHCP 192.168.0.x

Not sure why I can't connect to second one. I tried asking on the support thread but they are more concerned with british people loosing battles and girl with dirty blonde hair at the moment.

You need to change one unit´s IP adress, otherwise there is an ip-address conflict on your network (2 units cant be using the same IP).

Just change one IP to xxx.xxx.x.98 and the other one should work fine on .99

Thanks guys. When I changed one to DCHP I thought I wouldn't have issues with the 2nd. After crashing my internet for a few hours, being unable to connect to the first S3 to boot I started from square 1...or maybe 2 since I didn't do a full reset on the 1st miner.

I unhooked miner #2 after doing a factory reset on it. I figured I better make sure this baby is clean.

Then I went back to miner #1 and changed back to Static IP address. I changed the IP address to 98 from 99. Then I plugged #2 back in and used the .99 address. I switched everything back to DCHP, found the addresses and basically just followed the guide.

They are both humming away happily while everyone in my living sweats like pigs

It took a total of about 10 hours and a lot of heart ache to get these going but when you finally do, at least from my hobbyist perspective, it feels nice.
