Can u please tell me how the chat was done in JD ? Did u use any open source script ?

It was just built into the site, like the betting and everything else. Just a bunch of socket.io messages being passed back and forth.

Something like this:

send_button.on('click') {

Groovie played a lot, but apparently ended up with 7 BTC profit.

I tried to screenshot his bets, but I was on my tablet at the time, my screenshots were at two different zoom levels, and I missed his first +5 bet. I've patched them together into an ugly single image, and made up the missing +5 by copy/pasting bits of other bets:




Also, Deb commented to me that showing "all bets profit" as -20 looks bad and will be off-putting to gamblers.

I don't know if she's right, but she's usually pretty intuitive about such stuff.

Besides, investing is usually something you think about and thus you know the math is on your side in the long run.

Investors know they're probably going to win in the end. Some even think that the site having a negative profit is good, because "the law of averages" means it'll win a lot soon.

Gamblers know they're going to lose in the end, but don't like to be reminded of it.

You can tell I'm running out of ideas (for things to complain about) when I have to resort to using my girlfriend for such 'soft' issues, eh?

Though you do need to do something about the chat spam. Last night it was full of someone spamming their affiliate links to other sites.

1) give mods the ability to mute specific users
2) have a list of words which trigger a silent mute - so the spammer doesn't know they are muted
3) have the chat auto-ban for obvious things like repeating the same line over and over
