How much would it cost to buy dicebitco.in?

I haven't bought code before so I have no idea, sorry if I make naive offers.  Sad
I think it would be a pretty bad idea to buy it as it already has a very bad reputation which would be very difficult to overcome and you would need to spend a huge amount of effort to get people to believe that you are not cheating

I don't think it's worth it. You could hire a dev to recreate the whole site from scratch, and at least be reasonably sure you get what you pay for with no surprises.

Well as long as someone else who is trusted does the code audit
Reliable Dev + a Reliable inspection
That way its all pretty much verified beforehand

But how do you make sure it's all there and functioning properly? There would have to be an escrow who could set up the site and do a lot of testing, not just code review. Also how do you make sure they don't sell it to multiple buyers or start up a competing site? The only thing that makes sense here is for them to fake the sale, reopen reskinned site with different aliases under a different domain and do it all over again. Ninja style.

Even if you missed all the scam/running away with funds posts, Why would you want to invest in a site which is shutting down?

IMO, you shouldn't advise people to keep investing in new dice sites that have no reputation and no verifiable details. Unless you know someone personally or you are cashed up and willing to part with your money I'd be extremely careful in randomly investing in sites which you cannot be sure are not scams.

Agree. Also, even if the site is legit and the dev is considered trustworthy, there's always a risk of a hack, flawed code, or some 'whale' player winning big, so plenty of ways of losing your investment.

It has been said many times, I'll say it again: Never invest more than you can afford to lose.

check pages back.

His feedback page :

Skipping rolls and fucking up withdraws.

Beware!

Their provably fair dice site was caught in the act of cheating by skipping "nonces" - if a user's next bet was due to be a win, the site would skip that roll and give them the next one instead (which may also have been a win).

They claim the malicious code was written by a rogue new employee, but even if that is true it is a gross error to allow code from a new untrusted employee onto a live server where large amounts of coins are gambled.

I don't know if it's true... i'm new here.

I don't know if it's true... i'm new here.

We don't know for sure what's true. We do know the site was cheating players by skipping winning bets. But when they were caught they gave most of the crowd-funded bankroll back to its owners which doesn't seem like something a scam site would do.

It really depends on the site.

If they are provably fair then you can verify your own dice rolls to make sure you're not being cheated.

Some sites make this easier than others. Search on the site for "provably fair" and read what they write about verifying your rolls.

I have decided to give some trust to the guys that runs www.bikinidice.com and I invested there.
They are still small, but improving constantly. And, as far as I can understand, PROVABLY fair.

They are still small, but improving constantly. And, as far as I can understand, PROVABLY fair.

Be careful. The last two sites I trusted both ended up going bad.

They were both actively being developed, with friendly owners who interacted with the community.

They were also both provably fair.

One started cheating (provably fairness doesn't mean you can't cheat, it just means people can notice if you do cheat).
The other just disappeared one night.

I've no idea how to tell which sites are legit and which aren't.

I guess a good first step would be to check the owners' histories on the web of trust. Do the bikini guys even have web of trust accounts?

They said they are implementing Ardeva registration (my suggestion), so they can submit a token to an escrow, just in case of default.
I think I will give them another two weeks or so for this thing to be done. For now I hope they will not run with 5 btc bankroll, and I like to be able to provide a good % of the total bankroll as now, so I can make some real profit (with your site, i. e. , my small investment was too diluited)

(with your site, i. e. , my small investment was too diluited)

It doesn't really matter what percentage of the bankroll you control.

All that matters is how often the bankroll gets "turned over".

If the bankroll is 5 BTC and 10 BTC is bet each day, you can expect to make 2% profit per day.
If the bankroll is 5000 BTC and 10k BTC is bet each day, you can still expect to make 2% profit per day.

In those two cases, your 3 BTC investment is going to have hugely different levels of "dilution", but it doesn't make any difference to your expected profit.

In other words there's not much point being 50% of the bankroll if nobody bets on that site.
