Option 2 is best option for spacedrop.

That's 3 votes for Option 2 & 0 votes for Option 1 and 3 here on Bitcointalk.

1 vote for Option 2 & 0 votes for Option 1 and 3 on Facebook.

I think we can all see where this is going...

Firstly, very much looking forward to the launch of Sterlingcoin - good job guys !

Option 2 for the 'Space drop' - will probably provide the best overall distribution for Sterlingcoin to those who are interested.

People will always find a way round an online application system, no matter what safe guards you put in place.

For example, here is a short list of free UK sms / text dump websites:

http://hs3x.com
http://receive-sms-now.com
http://receivemysms.com/
http://www.chaka.biz/
http://receivesmsonline.com/
http://www.freeonlinephone.org/
http://www.receivesmsonline.net/
http://receivefreesms.com/
http://receive-sms-online.org/

The UK DDI: http://www.ukddi.com/ provides up to 10 free UK local numbers per. account for most area codes for voip users.

Postcodes are easy to find and their are countless free UK based proxies.

Thank you for this information.

If Option 2 is the final choice, the 'Post Code' and 'Telephone' fields will be dropped and we will simply log IP addresses and block proxies to prevent misuse of the Spacedrop.

Thank you for this information.

If Option 2 is the final choice, the 'Post Code' and 'Telephone' fields will be dropped and we will simply log IP addresses and block proxies to prevent misuse of the Spacedrop.

Your welcome ofc.

The Bad-Behavior script is quite good for preventing 'abuse' issues: http://bad-behavior.ioerror.us/about/ when combined with a php http:BL API Key.

EDIT: Blockscript - http://blocked.com - is actually free for a certain number of user requests per. month and blocks numerous open proxies. Your server requires the ioncube loaders for Blockscript.

You can also find updated proxy lists here: https://www.iblocklist.com/lists.php - and a list of Tor exit nodes from the Organizations tab. I do not really approve of any website blocking Tor exit nodes, although if you were to only block the space drop page for the initial giveaway, then I guess its not so bad. It would help to ensure a fair distribution.

Non-collection and/or minimal collection of users data, where possible, is certainly the best option.

Thank you very much again and this information will be utilised on the Spacedrop and Faucet to ensure entries are made fairly and as you say "to ensure a fair distribution".

On top of our proxy filtering and protection in place already we have also implemented the following on the Spacedrop and Faucet:

$ips = explode("\n", file_get_contents('/Tor-ip_list_ALL.csv');
if (in_array($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'], $ips)) {
 echo 'Sterlingcoin Spacedrop cannot be accessed via Tor.'; die;
}

Basically this bit of code says if the IP address matches one in Tor-ip_list_ALL.csv to tell users "Sterlingcoin Spacedrop cannot be accessed via Tor".

$ips = explode("\n", file_get_contents('/Tor-ip_list_ALL.csv');
if (in_array($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'], $ips)) {
 echo 'Sterlingcoin Faucet cannot be accessed via Tor.'; die;
}

This bit of code says if the IP address matches one in Tor-ip_list_ALL.csv to tell users "Sterlingcoin Faucet cannot be accessed via Tor".

The rest of the website is Tor friendly.

Good luck with your launch but be wary of Bittrex. They will abruptly drop a coin even when there are coin/BTC on offer to trade.

Do you mean if there is no trade volume?

I've seen both little and no trade in a coin for a very short period of time which prompted Bittrex to remove the coins from their books. (and they make no bones about low/no volume coins being flagged for deletion)

Its understandable if coins are trading beneath 0.5 - 1.0 BTC per week. But with Sterlingcoin we are confident that this wont be the case.

Do bear in mind that option 2 means that people with more than one person in a household who wish to use the Spacedrop will not be able to do so.

Unless they have smartphones on a data contract Wink More likely to hit issues with workplaces, Universities, etc, I'd have thought...

Definitely. These are simply issues that cannot be avoided. But we can only make it as fair as possible.

Thanks Sterling coin for the prevail and opportunity to the coin. Also the good progress to date as well.

The reason I pick #2 is simple because it is more fairly distributed. And well like all cryptocurrency at the rate of growth reaching faster than anyone now must see that as fast as and the addition of crypto-coins themselves will grow equally but simply put a fair coin and a coin that represents good will prevail.

Good work team Sterlingcoin.

I am planning to bring Merchants to use Sterling coin as I believe this is a great project, however I am concerned that my efforts will be used to boost other coins on litepaid. I don't mind if good coins also get business from the merchants I bring in but I think it would be best if Sterling has it's own API for merchants and fees could be used to develop the coin further.

I sent litepaid a mail this morning listing the coins that aren't even in the top 100 marketcap on there coin list and it would be unfair for shitcoins to ride on the work of others.

So perhaps having litepaid and another option to bring merchants too?

Firstly thank you for your positive comments and support.

Option #2 is looking the most attractive at the moment. We will let the vote roll till the last minute.

Good to also hear that you guys are also looking for merchants and have an interest in the API and LitePaid options.

We do have our own API and this can be used by merchants eventually.

Upon launch however LitePaid will be the only option for merchants.
