I downloaded the entire snapshot 2.5 GB extracted it, and it did not work on windows, it appears to be from linux.

Luckily I backed up what I had already synchronized, so that I do not have to start from scratch.

When I finish synchronizing, I will provide a windows snapshot.

 how to speed up the sync of Emerald wallet

    download the Emerald Blockchain Snapshot https://snapshot.emeraldcrypto.de
    put and unpack the snapshot.zip file into your Emerald directory
    start the Emerald client (emerald-qt.exe for linux/windows and emeraldd for linux) with the option -reindex
    now the indexing of the copied blockchain is started

    download the emerald daemon from github (emeraldd) https://github.com/Crypto-Currency/Emerald/releases/tag/V0.8.7.7
    download the libboost libraries 1.58 and unpack the on /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/
    start the emerald client

Of course I had it -reindex in the emerald.conf file. The snapshot for linux does not work for the windows client, and I seem to be the only one who uses windows. I am up to about 6500000 blocks now. My issue is that I cannot let my computer run continuously for days and days.

I will provide a windows snapshot when I am synced.

please look at the new snapshot file (https://snapshot.emeraldcrypto.de) not the bootstrap file (https://bootstrap.emeraldcrypto.de)
it contains \blocks and \chainstate on a zip file

i have run it on a Windows 7 maschine and it works the rebuild of the index runs fast enough and the sync takes a few hours only.

Hello, so it appears whoever uploads the emerald snapshot has modified the blockchain and has added a block around 6112000. This does not work, because each block contains the hash of the previous block. My wallet attempted to reorganize the blockchain, this resulted in a bad alloc std error and crashed the wallet.

The only option is for me to finish syncing manually. I will provide a non edited snapshot to actually help others sync their wallet.

Thanks for having me waste several months trying to reindex the broken snapshot. 

Just for the record I tried it four times with three different snapshots, it takes about 24 hours to reindex up to the mentioned bad block.

If you want to download the EMD blockchain, it takes sometime
It is what it is.  But not impossible.  In fact not even buggy.  Just BIG!

So somewhat a test in experience/knowledge of maintaining a class of 2013 block chain.

Up starts are easy.  But been there done that still here, classic if you will, good things take time.

Back in the day there was a bootstrap service that was good, but overtime the best (perhaps only way) is sync from block 1.

 I know a bugger.  But until alts have a reliable bootstrap system (which not even  BTC has] just keep on keeping to sync.

Rule of thumb if you get a sync,  back it up, that is the craft

It should be working fine and fast.
