what is the advantage of zennet
 against https://secure.slicify.com/?
Quote
As a result, we can offer CPU power for batch processing

mmhh?? please explain it!

The main difference is centralization. Zennet is fully decentralized. No one in the middle taking fees. No single point of failure. It's and practically unstoppable economically uncompetable.

blah blah
let's see this working and then we'll compare it to "legacy" systems.

ahh those jealous guys.. you tried to design such a system and failed?
EDIT: i thought you talked about zennet rather ItsNotMe. apologies

haha no I just wanted that sterile discussion to end :-)

it was a good discussion until ItsNotMe got out of answers.. either he doesnt like decentralization, or crowd funding, or zennet, or myself.
PS i edited the comment for you above..

actually he may have a point there... a centralized service would solve many of your challenges, like trust/reputation (moderators could ban bad guys) and all the micropayment thing (buy prepaid credit in btc and then you can pay instantly).

See my previous comment. Let me just add that Zennet is suitable for centralized services as well: in pure theory, no reason AWS won't offer their servers also via Zennet, while publishing their Zennet address on their website, and everyone knows that they can trust this address as AWS. The same for the second end: processing power consumers such as universities, Google etc.

Quote
Anyway, this time my question specifically is, how do you solve the problem of requiring high speed tx processing? is it with a coin with fast confimation times? have you decided on pow/pos?

I'm interested but still have doubts.... also, can anyone enlighten me on why cpushares failed?

Good question. The original plan was to work with DPOS which is like Ripple but breaks some of the centralization with POS like. After discussions with HunterMinerCrafter we consider moving to plain POW. Please see above more about this subject.

As for cpushares, sorry, I know nothing about it.

Moreover, it is important to understand that Zennet is as generic as possible.
All it gives is SSH connection to Linux hosts. That's it. Just like AWS. From here you can just run anything as-is.

Will each Linux host have internet access? If so, this opens up a wide range of applications.

How much memory does each Linux host have? Does this come with any disk space, too?

Do you have plans for sharing GPU cycles as well?

What software will be installed on these Linux hosts? Will there be a way to install custom software easily?

Will these be virtual hosts? or an actual user with shell access on the computer?

Most of my questions were answered after reading the whitepaper. My only question that remains is, will each Linux host have internet access?

No, by default. But users will be able to allow it and of course the system will treat it like all priced resources.

How will I have enough resources to rent out when I'm using it to mine POW?

as mentioned above, if it'll be ASICs, no such concern.

Would you (and possibly HunterMinerCrafter) be interested in joining a voice conference session with the top minds and developers behind DPOS for an intelligent discussion on the right consensus model for Zennet? I can have this arranged.

I think it'll be best to do it on our IRC channel. We both frequently and daily there.

no, this won't happen. merged mining has its own vulnerabilities

Well eventually POW electricity cost will take this project out of my home.  I don't think mining is even needed with this type of project. I feel Zennet  falls more in line with Storj  and their idea of farming. Cultivating a resource we all ready have.

So....Mining earns Zencoin and Zencoin is also earned by renting out resources?  In my opinion, issue the coins through counterparty and not put so much effort on managing the coin.

You won't have to have an ASIC in order to rent you PC on Zennet.
Renting has nothing to do with mining.

Let's hope that a reliable and economical blockchain algo will come soon.
Currently, not much options.
Coins using insecure algos is a fact, it's not saying we should do so as well.

I apologize, the point is the legal area isn't so easy, and some things have changed along the way, and lawyers just need more time.
I was hearing "in a few days" for long and still hear that, but I do understand that legal circumstances sometimes change, especially in the new crypto world. Join with it a whole months of holidays we've got here two months ago.
So let our lawyers be ready, let it depend on me only, then I'll be able to tell exactly when the sale will begin. And it will begin quite immediately after the lawyers will finish their work.
In case people would like to purchase coins privately (opposed to public sale), it can be done since we already have the legal structure allowing us to do so, and the amount of coins they'll get will be according to the rate that the crowd will set on the upcoming price-discovery crowdsale.

I just found out we mistakingly put a link somewhere to zennet.io. zennet.io is different entity that has nothing to do with zennet.sc. it all began with a confusion since we used to be xennet.io till we got http://zennet.sc/citrix.pdf

so we are zennet.sc
zennet.io is a whole different entity we have nothing to do with, and to my impression - their business is far from being similar to ours.
