I guess that seeing the pictures of you child on an internet forum after stealing 1000+ BTC didn't help him/them to calm down.
Do you really think they'll stop ppl you've stolen from with 10 % ?

now they are using the technique called "cooling the mark".
http://www.tau.ac.il/~algazi/mat/Goffman--Cooling.htm : The con is said to be a good racket in the United States only because most Americans are willing, nay eager, to make easy money, and will engage in action that is less than legal in order to do so The typical play has typical phases. The potential sucker is first spotted and one member of the working team (called the outside man, steerer, or roper) arranges to make social contact with him. The confidence of the mark is won, and he is given an opportunity to invest his money in a gambling venture which he understands to have been fixed in his favor The venture, of course, is fixed, but not in his favor. The mark is permitted to win some money and then persuaded to invest more. There is an "accident" or "mistake," and the mark loses his total investment. The operators then depart in a ceremony that is called the blowoff or sting. They leave the mark but take his money. The mark is expected to go on his way, a little wiser and a lot poorer.
Sometimes, however, a mark is not quite prepared to accept his loss as a gain in experience and to say and do nothing about his venture. He may feel moved to complain to the police or to chase after the operators. In the terminology of the trade, the mark may squawk, beef, or come through. From the operators' point of view, this kind of behavior is bad for business. It gives the members of the mob a bad reputation with such police as have not. yet been fixed and with marks who have not yet been taken. In order to avoid this adverse publicity, an additional phase is sometimes added at the end of the play. It is called cooling the mark out After the blowoff has occurred, one of the operators stays with the mark and makes an effort to keep the anger of the mark within manageable and sensible proportions. The operator stays behind his team‑mates in the capacity of what might be called a cooler and exercises upon the mark the art of consolation. An attempt is made to define the situation for the mark in a way that makes it easy for him to accept the inevitable and quietly go home. The mark is given instruction in the philosophy of taking a loss.

Allright, here goes nothing I'm Day[9], most of you will probably remember me from trying to sell my 9 handle. Unfortuneatly I didn't expect this, so I've got no real proof of 'really' being me, but I've had some conversations with bay about him being a mod in the old dogedice, and with AK about stealing my invest money :p I've had nothing left on darkdice, didn't know the 'other site' but I did have 10 LTC and 1 BTC -9a10% invest loss, so 0.91 btc, give or take a few mbtc, I haven't been keeping an eye on it the days before the shutdown. Since I'm also no wonder with these transactions and I didn't have an emergency address (even though I mentioned this ALOT to dmf), I'm still gonna try to reclaim my pity 1 bitcoin, which is about half of my total cryptomonais :/ I'm not sure which address I used to put the coin on, I think it was directly from a resellersite (litebit.eu), but this one is one of mine. 1LsdeQ5mhiZh7g3AAbSS7GSBKQScCDvsroShame it had to come to this DMF, but I'd still hugely appriciate getting my coin back! Thanks Disclaimer, I'm also not the day9 e-sports figure, I just needed something cool to do with the 9 handle :p

I wasn't invested, and I didn't even play, but that "cooling the mark" thing doesn't work with me if I had been. Also depends on the amount. 1 BTC, maybe not so much, but 100~1000 BTC, then we're talking about making use of some skillz... (it's no secret I'm in the military.)

nobody managed to reach this girl?
i can call tomorrow ~ fwiw *did someone look up the schools number? Nobody should be bothering her since he has already been identified. If himself or other people involved don't come in and clear up what is going on, I would guess the next step is taking legal action or at least contacting the authorities in NY. Last time I have been scammed I managed to get a phone number related to the scammer. It was his ex girl friend number. She gave me more information than I could ever get from him! I'm not sure that the emergency withdraw was set up on my account, you can use this adress 1JbEW2NYiWdvVpuT1H1iVpS1f7gNXjQ9Mx Account ID yhomega, amount to refund 4 BTC+ investment profit https://blockchain.info/address/1JUZDnqCpdKSiqgHgWzsNc28QT7s9YupSp

If the ID and the theft is confirmed, Jeremy Hise (Chappaqua, New York), I'd loooooove to learn more about what will become of him.
I'm not in the US. If it were to happen in my country, I'd TOTALLY go ahead and do what's legally possible : at least let the employers know what he's accused of and investigate, let the family and their employers know (also include school directors if he has kids). If they're wise, they'd investigate... and take proper actions. No matter my situation, no matter how much I'm involved in the story, that's everyone's right.
Nothing would please me more -again if that's him- than to know he's going down, deep down, bite the dust, possibly killing himself. We will live in an unfair world and it may no be so nice. There's a chance -again if that's him- that he will do even more damage and go on a killing spree.
<off topic> Justice in so-called developed countries is way too gentle with repeat offenders (thieves) : nothing will be more fair than to have at least one of his hand cut off. </off topic>

DMF & Toad, You guys know how much you owe me and *just in case* you don't have the emergency withdrawal addresses handy: BTC 1NTsoXtZeKF6eLxPrSFL5WXZ99yG9VL4SG LTC LSN43MSvQKRnGNCcdYEuw4xZEHCQJ5KR57 DRK XmDfYWbtMEqdpF7ptDqWZ3b5CywWejz19A I am pleased to see that the community has yet again proven that totally anonymity is almost impossible to maintain, especially when you disappear with ~1 million dollars. I am also pleased to see that you've wisely decided to begin the refund process. I suggest speeding up that effort to avoid future unpleasantness. You can communicate with me at pgp-pay-me@hmamail.com

Yes and now they are using the technique called "cooling the mark". Bitcoinsports.eu did the same. Paying people off little by little to keep feelings calm until eventually people tire. .....
Tradefortress comes to mind!
