As more people get involved should we consider CRYPTO for CASH transactions.

I know I'd like to avoid the endless nonsense involved with buying and selling through Aussie sites.

I just sent the remainder of 100 UNO to FallingKnife for The Blue Crypo Award insurance.

Do I get another star for that, and do you mind if I include that in my transaction tally?  Maybe FallingKnife can earn another star when he returns it to me later next month.  Smiley

No problem if you don't want me to include these - just speak up.  Thanks.

"So, five stars is 'no qualms about a trade of 500 UNO or a couple of 10-oz bars of silver'
Four stars is '250 UNO or equivalent'
Three stars is, say, '100 UNO or equivalent in silver'
Two stars is, say, '25 Uno or an ounce of silver'
One star is 'has made at least one trade''

2nd Edit: two-and-seven-eighths stars? (and a gold star for your forehead)

Since it's a trade in our network, I will include the 100-UNO payment as 1 'trade', since it's a trade for the insurance service.  Updating my BeneX post, now.

What is the blue crypto award insurance ?

I've been considering an escrow for business service. A p2p solution for business who want to take advantage of crypto user customers but not get involved in the (Australia has hostile) legislation or the technical risks. Kind of like a buddy system for business who are interested (Mark's concpept) giving them the benefits of crypto adoptance without the risk.

This might sound like a raw deal for the p2p escrow service but the skimming of crypto as fee (not cash) has it's own benefits as well as the benefits to the community at large with an accepting business and additional crypto movement.

This of course requires a trust agreement with a business and a position of trust within the community. Well worth the effort in my opinion.

The insurance is a service which supports our current Unobtanium Community Blue Crypto Award project and is a duplicate of the 100 UNO Award sent to a 2nd party, so if for whatever unlikely reason I can't pay the 'Award, FallingKnife will pay it.  That means I have 200 UNO dedicated to the project, the 100 UNO 'Award, which I still hold myself, and the 100 UNO insurance that FallingKnife now holds.  The 100 FallingKnife holds is still my personal property, to be returned to me once I send the 100 UNO that I hold for the project to the winning nominee.  I tried to pay FK 1 UNO for the service, but he refused it.

It's simple.  I'm doing this for both the pragmatic reason, but also to be an example for what's possible with cryptos and as an example of this management practice.

Here is the project's thread and website.

-

V500 already has an escrow service on here, BTW.

Escrow was the wrong word to use. I'm super busy but I will come back and explain what I was talking about properly when I get an opportunity.

Two stars is, say, '25 Uno or an ounce of silver'
50 UNO = ?
you are a tiny bit inconsistent with your rating
whatever, i got the trade done thanks to Ian - give him 2 stars for that! Wink

My apologies, Layer. In my haste this morning, I overlooked the size of the trade.

Wow!! What energy for this project! And don't be afraid to nudge me. I am half-blind, so I do miss details.

In my opinion i don't feel like amounts should be tied to rankings or anything. More so, someone with 5 stars has more "trust" about them than someone with 1 star or 2 or so forth. It isn't that someone with no stars can't be trusted with large sums but more diligence needs to be used in such a case.

I would like to see this in house exchange moved into the wallet some how. I think it would be interesting to do this on a level that is away from this forum. If it is too far reaching, is there anyway to get this rating system into the chain? If this "exchange" in the wallet is a feed of offers of from people, person picks the offer they want, clicks a few buttons, the wallets generate an address for bitcoin and one for uno. Funds are sent to these addresses. Computers do their magic, set a time limit, if after an hour the funds aren't sent or there is a discrepancy, they are returned to where they were sent from. Just another +1 to those who read this and have the ability to make something like this take place. The forum exchange is cool, but we could reach a lot more people if it was built into the wallet.

We can't grow when we won't criticize ourselves!

I like the idea of using the crypto technology to work complex community ideas within the wallet but I agree that making demands of developers isn't a great solution. Time will tell where this will go.

As for the trust rating... it is important to really 'feel' the internet. I was born before the internet and I'm alive during it's inception and beyond, a historically unique and important demographic to live in (Or perhaps my hubris).

Let us not pretend an individual won't fake a 5 star rating to pull off a major heist and, on the same hand let us not discredit the honesty of individuals hoping to become a part of a great community. No star or 5 star an arbitrary 'trust' rating means as much as we are willing to assign it.

This project (as far as I am involved) is more about community than it is about trust, a complex consideration.
Traditionally community was trust, however with the internet such concepts are bygones of a an age already forgotten. Let us 'feel' a little old school community and build a little 'new age' trust' into a process that desperately needs some kind of reality check.

We are all in the same boat working towards relatively similar goals, surely we can find some kind of mutually productive middle ground.

I agree with all that you said. Nicely put. My goals are being rewarded for early adoption. I would like to think any type of work done on the coin is work done towards my goal Grin I believe in transparency, i got nothing to hide. Which is why i like the idea of community and such. Community can moderate itself. Shunning those who seek to hurt the community and so forth. I am glad you mentioned trust meaning as much as we are willing to assign it.

What i would like to see is a pipe dream. It should NEVER undermine the stability of the coin, the addition of new features. Of course more utility is always welcomed, but not at the sacrifice of current stability.

We can't grow when we won't criticize ourselves!
