I've been away myself, but got to talking with IMZ about dobbscoin last night and got all nostalgic for it. He was having issues getting client to sync, so I decided to attempt a build on linux. I understand a revival of sorts may be going on, and there may be significant changes to the wallet but I managed a build with a few minor tweaks to the github repo: https://github.com/Shinoa-Fores/dobbscoin-source


I am using: gcc version 7.3.0 (Gentoo Hardened 7.3.0 p1.0) with linux 4.15.4 kernel build. It all synced up fine, though I noticed only 1-2 peers. I will attempt to get a permanent node up to help the network this coming week.

As I am also a big fan of paper wallets, I have put up a temporary generator at http://btcinfo.sdf.org/DLX/genwallet/?currency=dobbscoin# ... will also put the changes on github. The background is generic and doesn't have the groovy feel of the old version, so if anyone can improve please advise.

As you can see in the initial posts from 2014, and from https://github.com/dobbscoin
BOB was @first, a CoinGen coin.  Over time x_slacks/tekahuna, Earlz and Shakzulu and a collection of others have jacked with it, but the initial issues like  invalid/ignored GEN block (ouch) and based on old sources that wont compile.. (double ouch) and of course 'Sharing acronym with Bolivia's national FIAT & some new coin called BOBs Repair Service [https://bobsrepair.com/ what the fuck]: both also "BOB"  still exist.    No WORTHLESS ON PURPOSE has never been considered a flaw =p  as it keeps us from being taken seriously ..and we've always been DEAD SERIOUS about that.  

So anyhow..  This is my first working example of FUTURE OPTIONS.
I'll find others, and this one will no doubt fail, it is supposed to.
I offer it only because I'm investigating options and welcome others to participate.

BOB is broken.. it's been from the start. In order to "FIX" it.. it's got to be re-started from scratch, and if it's going to be re-started from scratch ..then let's explore ideas. This is the  Zerocoin / PIVX a QUARK algo: Proof-of-Work/Proof-of-Stake concept example. I didn't call it Dobbscoin, because it's a disposable play thing - concept toy. Try it out.. see how it works, submit thoughts.. join us in #Dobbscoin on FreeNode for handouts and once a consensus develops on which direction to go - we'll make sources available for community development.
