As you may be well aware.. we've been having a problem with LONG BLOCKS, caused by EXTREMLY HIGH DIFFICULTY brought on by 'The Conspiracy' & drive-by-hashers, throwing it at us, and then going away: This is about to be rectified. We're calling the solution DobbsShield, as it's an implementation of the same technology other coins use, and was originally developed under the name DigiShield.
 
(BOB) makes an average of 144 BLOCKS a day, one ever ten minutes,
and each one is worth 50 (BOB); this will not change.

We're implementing DobbsShield after experiencing the grave consequences which drive by hashers ..or maybe even multi-pools posed to us when they start mining (BOB) at a very low difficulty in relation to the net/pool hash, which - for a short time allows many coins to be quickly and easily mined before the difficulty increases.. but once the difficulty increases the pinkboy/multi-pool leaves, dumps the coins on the market, and screws us all dedicated miners for the next "BOB" knows how long ..with a very high difficulty and very few new coins to be mined.  This of course leads to a drop in interest, out of pocket rental mining fees to get us back on track, and frustration among a committed 'SubGenius community'.

When (BOB) Dobbscoin was first created v0.8.6.1, it came with a full suite of wallets:

• Linux Source + 32bit & 64bit executables
• Windows executable core
• Windows Installer/Uninstaller
• MAC (.dmg package)
• As well as the GIT SOURCE PACKAGE

The first upgrade to v.0.8.6.2 was performed by an altcoin master going by the handle x-static, using Gitian - whose final product releases also included the full suite of wallets - each statically built to include all the dependencies required for smooth installation and use.

The latest upgrade to v0.8.7.0 was completed by two talented coders Slackmaster Earlz (Win32 client), and the infamous altcoin coder Shakezula (MAC client). These wallets however were built independently and came only with executable core wallets: the windows core also required an included .dll library.

With the next package, I hope to find someone capable of  handling the full suite of wallets once again, and bringing them up to BitCoin current (v0.10+) standards; along with the following changes.

• Change the Dobbscoin Blocktime to 2.5 minutes per BLOCK
• Change the Block Reward to 12.5 BOB per BLOCK

Hey guys,

I just want to give a more public status update for the new Dobbscoin wallet to summarize it for everyone:

The new wallet is based on Bitcoin 0.10.2 and as such includes a lot of new features like watch only addresses, significantly faster syncing, better multisignature support and data carrier transaction support, and much more. Also the new wallet will be built with proper gitian support and as such future updates should be significantly easier to compile new wallets for.

Currently most of the work is going into BOBifying the new wallet with some good graphics. The new wallet has already been tested and should be completely compatible with the old network. After the graphical work is complete, there will be a new update to make a new hard-fork. Not everything is set in stone yet, but the major thing that should be done in the hard fork is changing the block times from 10 minutes to something shorter like 1 or 2 minutes. At the same time, there might be a few more minor things done in the hardfork as wel.

Currently Dobbscoin creates 7200 "BOB" /day (50 every 10minutes).

     We're currently on BLOCK #66173. At BLOCK #68425 "BOB" will switch to 2 minute BLOCKS worth 10 "BOB" (miners still create 7200 "BOB"/day). Previous installations will no longer SYNCH to the new block chain once this occurs. If you have any Dobbscoin, your wallet.dat file contains all the transactions, but you will be unable to "spend" them until after you upgrade. NOW is a good time to zip a copy of that fucker up and save it some place secure.

Running Wallet OVERVIEW

Windows clients store their blockchains and wallet.dat in the %APPDATA% Directory (in my case it's C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Dobbscoin) The only file you really need to covet is wallet.dat, as this file is where Dobbscoin stores the private keys (cryptographical shit) for all the addresses you control. All public Dobbscoin addresses have private keys which verify the address you have and give you access to move "BOB" on the blockchain from one address to another, and wallet.dat handles this. %APPDATA% is NOT the location of the Installed Client.

My Dobbscoin client lives at:
C:\Documents and Settings\BOB\Desktop\DobbsCOIN\dobbscoin-qt.exe
My %APPDATA% directory (where wallet.dat lives) is:

Personally, I don't backup my wallet.dat regularly because I send the Dobbscoin I wish to "SAVE" to a paperwallet, which I print out. Paperwallets allow you to secure your PUBLIC Address & PRIVATE Key somewhere offline, while making them simple to IMPORT into the running wallet later through the DEBUG Window's console using the command 'importprivkey privatekeyaddresshere'. If you are having trouble doing this, it is likely because your wallet has been encrypted and needs to be UNLOCKED before IMPORTING your PRIVKEY. Use 'walletpassphrase your_wallet_passphrase_here 600' to unlock your wallet for 600 seconds, then 'importprivkey privatekeyaddresshere'.

PAPERWALLET example:(paper wallet generator)

The new client is up to speed with the CORE bitcoin code, allowing for simplified control of the "BOB" allocated to an individual address within your clients total balance. For instance: If I sent 200 "BOB" to you at five different RECEIVE addresses... your total balance would show 1000 "BOB" - and you *could* spend any portion of them from the collective wallet, or you could choose which addresses (inputs) you wished to spend from.. allowing you to separate the transactions.. to give you a greater ability to keep your Slack payments from mixing up on the block chain, and creating a better layer of anonymity.

The is is an example of Addresses I have received Slack previously. I usually only use a receiving address once and scoop my "BOB" from them into a number of other addresses which I re-use (or else send them off world to a paperwallet for safe keeping). Using an address only once allows for better accounting of your Slack when trading with other mutants.

This is an example of transaction where I have sent Slack off to others.

a weeks transactions, a month, this years, or even a custom range.

My favorite command line arguments are 'help' and 'getinfo' and 'getbalance'. You can also use 'help getinfo' or 'help any-command' if you are into excessively long worded, yet well written assistance.

What version are you using? 
Current Dobbscoin is v0.10.1.0 and has changed it's rewards, so old client/wallets stopped syncing unless upgraded.

If you goto https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/MineShaft?pool=BOB now you can actually see BLOCKS SOLVED 114961,114960,114957 and the miners will be paid for those three blocks but the pool also found 114958 & 114959 but they don't list it therefore they don't pay it.  I contacted their support they took the coin offline a few days to check what was wrong and replied back that everything was fine there was nothing wrong, so i went again and tested it, mined on there alone without anyone else solved a few blocks and waited for payout and just like i said they aren't paying all blocks solved just the ones they list...smh

We have an Official SMF forum for discussing it, and while we do love ahmed, I can't say I see any movement there on the topic.  When the Bounty was only at 1 BTC +50k "BOB", ahmed did report to be working on forking http://www.github.com/schildbach/bitcoin-wallet but stopped when he had an issue relating to our genesis block acceptance. The Bounty is for whomever completes a wallet worthy of the MEME.

But it DOES have to be a fork off schildbach

I don't really participate in the altcoin speculation craze, only trading a handful of coins back and forth in order to raise BTC Bounty funds when "BOB" bounties alone don't seem cut it. Wallet upgrades have, until now been enough to motivate SubGenius coders like earlz and shakezula. None the less, all are welcome to join us on our forum to work on this with "the community".

I recommend you mine over at https://hash-to-coins.com/ i had some issues mining dobbscoin @ cryptopia a few months ago filed a ticket and was told everything was fine but it clearly wasn't so i just let it go and moved on.   SuperNinjaPool was great while it lasted.

I'm mining there, with Minera set at 5.5MH/s and it does say my Error/Reject rate is rather high.. 6.32% / 7.67%. The Pool is saying: Pool Efficiency    84.84%  and http://pool.dobbscoin.info/index.php?page=statistics&action=blocks has a buncha stats .. while http://pool.dobbscoin.info/index.php?page=statistics&action=round shows that in this round, it is CRAZY high.

I've been mining there since it opened and romes reports only being able to mine there since about a month ago, when he believes something got fixed, but I assure you that I seriouslly did nothing to rectify his issues. Honestly, I am not even sure how the damn thing even works.. It's all quite a mystery. I have noticed for a great while that ProHashing gets a stupid high number of our blocks and is willing to sell them, to which I have been happy to watch the "market value" crash in some sorta crypto-death spiral.. and am delighted to see someone interested in buying them at ever better prices, so to that end Dobbscoin is looking even better to me; far from death for sure.

Usually the home pool bitches when theres somethin wrong.
I'll sty to stop it, run the scripts and check under the carpet for secret doors; maybe we've got chiggers.

HOWEVER... I can see one minor (MAJOR) issue.. Seems the primary SEEDNODE (seed.dobbscoin.info:19985) was not running, and I do't know why, so that might bust ya up if ya had no cached relay node addresses.   But if you can get to the Official Pool, we can always use help there. ProHashing fucks us up & solo-miners always kicking our ass.

   BtcBOB: You gotta DO SOMETHING to overcome the problem a megahash/block-striping pool is causing.. Seems they attack with 5x our hash for a few blocks and dump the earnings, causing stale blocks till we flip a few and then it starts again.  Not sure what, but better to get rewards for hashing and keep the blocks moving and the Slack pure.

Oh, awesome! I'm glad you got a chance to check out my work! Yeah, deadlightbulb is kind of a blanket name I use for everything I do, and Imprints is sort of my main project. I've dedicated my life to music, for better or for worse (worse most of the time, haha).  But yeah, I listen to all styles of music really also... besides country. Classic country like Johnny Cash and Faron Young I can hang with

So back to "Bob". Where everything inevitably leads, no matter what.

We need to seriously think about getting the "home" pool redone and put on UNOMP or something. I was going to see if one of the free tier instances on AWS would allow me to make a pool that could be used. I'm not sure if there would be enough power in one though. I have about $250 in credits on AWS, but if I were to build a pool on a VPS with more horsepower - it obviously would only be temporary. The only extra machines I have here are some old PowerPC MACs. And while one of them could successfully be setup as a decent server (2 of them are old Mac Pros with a decent amount of power for Ubuntu, Debian, etc...) I'm not in a stable enough living environment to run pools from home servers. If I had a patron, (no, not Patron - the tequila) Maybe I could move to a safer environment. Hollyweird is crazy. You just get 'stuck' in these weird situations. I'll write a book about it all eventually.

The only way to go on AWS are spot instances anyway (because you can get your machines for soooo much cheaper, and if you get your prices right - they'll run forever). But I'm rambling now, so back to my main point.

I'm an Ordained Minister and High Priest of the Church (Peace be with "Bob"). And we need to take the reins of the Dobbscoin horse and get her tame again. I don't own any mining equipment as of now. But I'd love to buy a blade or something when I can afford it eventually... Specifically to dedicate to hashing for "Bob". It is of course a BLATANT LIE. I can send and receive from and to my own wallet, between wallets globally and even between global wallets and Cryptopia's wallet. They have at least 6 constant connections, my wallet usually shows 8. There is NOTHING wrong with earlz code and it's a direct port from Bitcoin to begin ..so I wrote cryptopia.

Uh, what are you talking about? Everyone I can find says BOB is just fine. I can even send and withdraw to BOB @ cryptopia just fine. All the people I know have zero issues. We're sending and receiving just fine with ZERO reports of erroneous wallet address or transaction problems. Your wallet is even at the same block height and has 6 connections.

Network does not produce enough hash power to sufficiently protect against malicious attacks/Network does not maintain enough connections.

Which is also garbage, not to mention that its NOT AT ALL what the HUGE message on the market suggests.

"BOB" is the 2nd coin I ever mined, beginning with DOGE end of 2013.   Found "BOB" in early 2014.

Its been my favorite altcoin.

The only downside to "BOB" are that most of the exchanges are run by BLAND NORMALS and that there is no functioning public pool.

I think getting the public pool fixed should be a priority.

It also seems like some nodes are ahead or behind others and sometimes a transaction can take 1 or more days to show up in everyones wallets.  

"BOB" has some form of moderately disabling aurally transmitted disease but he ain't dead yet!

Hey, dobbscoin! I'm here because I've know of BOB since it was launched. (I wrote a review when it was only weeks old.) Recently, I've been looking over 'forgotten' but established POWs. None have 'click-n-go' wallets. AND DID I MENTION: none have click-n-go wallets. So, was thrilled to find that I could fire up the BOB wallet . . . but then it . . .

POS wouldn't interest me. My outfit are all POW geeks. Had the crazy notion that 'community devving' could kick BOB along, perhaps as a p2p instrument. But if the basics aren't sound . . . I'm a bit lost.

My wallet has synched, and my first transactions have turned up.

The bids at 385-400 are mine. To my surprise, the balance of buys and sells on Nova is good. I can afford pennies for this project. And p2p is my major interest:

if coming weeks demonstrate that BOB is technically sound, then we have a scrypt crypto that is established, but has 75% of its mining remaining.

Could we/should we orient to 'packet' trading, of, say, lots of 1,000 BOB to begin with, then move to 10K a time? Why? It gets us out of the fiddly .0000000000000? class.

It depends. I dont have a big hash rate in comparison to some. It took me 1 week for the 1st one & then only a few hours for the 2nd. I just missed out on one as someone 'drove by' in the pool & found it instead of me after i'd been sitting in the pool for a while.

See.. since Cryptopia delisted BOB, the hash for profit / hash and dump pools quit mining it, so its just 'the community' now, like it should be, thing is: Some of "the community" has 100MH/s and some of us has 5MH/s.. so when someone drives by with 100MH/s they find a buncha blocks and wander off to mine other shit, leaving the block chain stuck at 80MH/s until a few blocks are found.. which makes it take forever..  It HELPS ALOT if someone with 10MH/s keeps mining at all ties, but that's not really an option with "BOB".

Also: when you check hashrate stats, that's not lIVE.. its the data as it was when the last block was found and only updates after a block is found.. so just because it says the hashrate is 80MH/s, its not always because it could also be ZERO.. and in which case the block will take a loong time to turn.

Wallets that wont synch are likly synchronized..
There just hasn't been a block in the last day sometimes..

Well since no one else is around who knows any details this is what I know. As little as it may be.

I don't know the internals but the pool went off on its own little tangent for a while. It effectively forked the blockchain I think. Maybe it lost connection to the other nodes?

I probably shouldn't have but I stayed in the pool & most of those blocks were found by me.

I don't know why but the height in the pool was left where it was so it didn't recognize any found blocks until the chain caught up a little while ago.

Edit: I got my wallet to sync by getting the 'addnodes' info from the LTC/BOB page on novaexchange. There's a link at the bottom of the page.

As a Reverend and a Doktor I was glad to see the home pool not kicking out a bunch of orphans. My wallet won't sync, though.  The block chain seems to be fouled up.  The Dobbscoin explorer shows it at block 268084, but the Prohash explorer shows it at block 268417.   And the home pool shows that it's on block 268880

I've had some trouble mining, but I suspect operator error before it's something with the pool.  Bfgminer doesn't seem to like the pool, and cgminer crashes after an hour or less.  
I hope I don't speak to soon, but I think I solved my problem.

These Dobbscoins are great for old mining hardware that I have that doesn't use up too much power.  115 watts for 5Mh

Ya, that was actually before I realized it was a profit switching pool. I am in the process of contacting them to have it removed in good faith. They likely did no research on this coin, and have no idea how badly they are making things for the chain. At least it got so clogged they had to shut it down for a week or two...

However, if you have Dobbscoin in your profit switching stratum, may you kindly remove it and only allow direct access to mining the coin? This is a very small network, and has been almost destroyed by profit-switching. In any case, the metrics where you likely get your 'most profitable' coins from does not take into account the state of the network. Only the difficulty and the price on exchange.

In reference to the pool at mining-dutch, they have removed Dobbscoin from their profit switching stratum, so there will be no more 'spikes' like had been happening recently.

I still plan on setting up a Dobbscoin pool on Core Media's new home pool (coming soon, we've got our fingers in alot of tasty pies) so I don't know when that will be - but it will be!

Yet, when BOB was moved to 2 minute block targets, the halving interval was not made to compensate for the increased rate of block creation, let alone NHGHʻs attempt too insert the sign of the anti-BOB into the Dobbscore, the dreaded "==".

There are 5,552,788BOB generated at this point, and we are at block 341620, marching towards a second halving at block 420,000, when with a two minute target time, halving should happen every 1,050,000 blocks.

The time-slack continuum is indeed collapsing.

Currently the coin is almost abandoned !
Yes, I understand your dismay/frustration if your miner is with a low power of hash on an other pool !
It is the eternal problem : rapport of power and difficulty.
I can testing with my old gridseed's... but if other pool is stronger than me, so I have nothing.
I use 10-15 minutes my power and then 20-30 mins pause ( or I mine other coin if the weather is cold )  and so on.
My number of corners is 50 to 100 with each cycle.
Consumption is reduced. Difficulty is a wave !

why would you specifically put the large power mining the coin? You only overstate the complexity, it is possible to produce smaller capacity, thereby wasting fewer resources for production. This coin is almost no one produces.

Currently the coin is almost abandoned !
Yes, I understand your dismay/frustration if your miner is with a low power of hash on an other pool !
It is the eternal problem : rapport of power and difficulty.
I can testing with my old gridseed's... but if other pool is stronger than me, so I have nothing.
I use 10-15 minutes my power and then 20-30 mins pause ( or I mine other coin if the weather is cold )  and so on.
My number of corners is 50 to 100 with each cycle.
Consumption is reduced. Difficulty is a wave !

Besides your pool, no one else is mining this coin, and why then put a lot of power?? I can also put a big power of 10Gh/s and even 30, but it makes no sense. And you're putting a lot of power into the void.

I do more or less the same that titinet does but I mine on mining-dutch,
the fact is that if you buy a hardware miner nowadays it comes out of factory with at least 500 MH/s of hashing power, for instance old gridseed are available only at garage sales, so it's not always because of miners,
mining with large amount of hashing power will certainly increase the net difficulty but maybe the coin will have a better price on exchange, (not sure btw)
a mainnet without hashing power will result in problems and delay sincyng the wallet or to confirm transactions,
I agree we don't need 30 GH/s to mine bob, with all due respect with 30 GH/s I would mine ltc

We REALLY need a subGenius coin dev. to step out and adopt "BOB" as his savior before making any real moves.. Old libraries and jacked code from past "upgrades" kinda leave it inthe  pre-compiled only pile.. I haven't tried to build the wallet in a while, but last time I tried, I was unsuccessful and I'm told thats why our wallet got delisted from BITTREX and Cryptopia..  We kinda need alot of work and although I had thought we were going to get re-built for X-Day, I've lost touch with our UberDev. I've been away myself, but got to talking with IMZ about dobbscoin last night and got all nostalgic for it. He was having issues getting client to sync, so I decided to attempt a build on linux. As I am also a big fan of paper wallets, I have put up a temporary generator at http://btcinfo.sdf.org/DLX/genwallet/?currency=dobbscoin# ... will also put the changes on github. The background is generic and doesn't have the groovy feel of the old version, so if anyone can improve please advise.

BOB was @first, a CoinGen coin.  Over time x_slacks/tekahuna, Earlz and Shakzulu and a collection of others have jacked with it, but the initial issues like  invalid/ignored GEN block (ouch) and based on old sources that wont compile.. (double ouch) and of course 'Sharing acronym with Bolivia's national FIAT & some new coin called BOBs Repair Service [https://bobsrepair.com/ what the fuck]: both also "BOB"  still exist.    No WORTHLESS ON PURPOSE has never been considered a flaw =p  as it keeps us from being taken seriously ..and we've always been DEAD SERIOUS about that.  

So anyhow..  This is my first working example of FUTURE OPTIONS.
I'll find others, and this one will no doubt fail, it is supposed to.
I offer it only because I'm investigating options and welcome others to participate.

BOB is broken.. it's been from the start. In order to "FIX" it.. it's got to be re-started from scratch, and if it's going to be re-started from scratch ..then let's explore ideas. This is the  Zerocoin / PIVX a QUARK algo: Proof-of-Work/Proof-of-Stake concept example. I didn't call it Dobbscoin, because it's a disposable play thing - concept toy. I think someone fixed that, but it's not been pulled into the GitHub Sources.
But Yea..  Everything's all fucked up.

GenBlock is crap/invalid/ignored in orig BlueMatt/CoinGen source that was modified but what can ya do when every coin ever created comes after an invalid & ignored block that's later check-blocked for consistancy.  And yea.. Bolivia. didn't even check that a FIAT might share its ACRONYM.. Fucking BOLIVIA!!  & What the FUCK is Bob's Repair?  So I'm all for doing SOMETHING.. or having someone else do SOMETHING rather.

Maybe after someone comes up with something worthy we can buy back old BOB's for the new coin, paying POS interest; but simply having SubGenius money isn't really enough. Five+ years into this project.. id really like to see some sort of SubCulture Social Media aspect built into the client..  but one step at a time. Good on you. 10 BroHams for EFFORT.

Some on FREENODE #dobbscoin have been playing around with a PIVX fork from WALLETBUILDERS. It's like a coingen, but spitsout coins that actually have valid genesis blocks. (go figure). We really wanted to fork BOB's chain into a PoW/PoS coin, but it has so many fucked up problems that no one who can do it will ;-)x---  So instead, and because it seems a lot of people Love (BOB)
 - we started a second coin to base from and may one day offer a buy out of BOB coins as they are mined throughout the years.

This is the 4th release candidate..  and it still may not get out of PoW .. but figured I aught to post here to anyone who watched this thread, so we can all mine it in PoW when it becomes available on APRIL 1st 2019. There will be only 13013 blocks in PoW (650,650 coins ~18+/- days) before going PoS hopefully..  Thing is we NEED something like 4 MASTERNODES some 300 blocks before the end of PoW (no idea why), or else the chain freezes..  So COME. MINE if you wish..  There is a PREMINE and I WILL be handing out 10k coins to just about anyone in freenode #dobbscoin when it launches, so "followes" can start working on masternodes.

We really wanted to fork BOB's chain into a PoW/PoS coin, but it has so many fucked up problems that no one who can do it will ;-)x---  So instead, and because it seems a lot of people Love (BOB)
 - we started a second coin to base from and may one day offer a buy out of BOB coins as they are mined throughout the years.

This is the 4th release candidate..  and it still may not get out of PoW .. but figured I aught to post here to anyone who watched this thread, so we can all mine it in PoW when it becomes available on APRIL 1st 2019. There will be only 13013 blocks in PoW (650,650 coins ~18+/- days) before going PoS hopefully..  Thing is we NEED something like 4 MASTERNODES some 300 blocks before the end of PoW (no idea why), or else the chain freezes..  So COME. MINE if you wish..  There is a PREMINE and I WILL be handing out 10k coins to just about anyone in freenode #dobbscoin when it launches, so "followes" can start working on masternodes.

Anyone needing a good old project to fine tune your coin dev. skills?

BOB needs some tweaking that'll require a hard fork and there doesn't seem to be any of our devs indisposed. Since last halving, BOB has been stuck at a ridiculously low 2.5 BOB reward per block and I figure there are some other coin specs that might use a twist. Since it's a small community who mine it, and the only exchange it's on won't accept US clients - I doubt anyone would mind.. would we? And perhaps adding a POS & Masternodes would be bad ass..

If I we're paying.. This is what id want.   

Alter block reward back up to 10, every 2.5min, w/retarget every block.
Add POS & Masternodes, but no anonymous/Zcoin/pivx garbage.
Split 10 reward 50/50 between Masternode and POS.

I've been mining BOB in CoinStop for the last couple of days, and while it seems to be okay, I've noticed that I seem to be merge-mining and then being paid in BOB.  I prefer that my hashes to directly to the network, and NoSuchPool seems to fit the bill.

Staring at the pile of laminated and sealed paper "BOB" wallets, I wished there was some kinda Android Bitcoin Wallet/Address 'Wealth Checker' APP.

And then I found this:

It has checkpoints for the last X block.

It has Windows 32/64bit Binaries built with Cygwin/MSYS on Windows 10 2004 and macOS 32/64bit Binaries built on macOS Mojave 14.6.1 included in the bin directory. Compiled with OpenSSL 1.0.1t.

Current Networkhps: 376.10 MH/s - Current Difficulty: 6.59417265 - Current Block: 764135
Plenty of time to upgrade before the hard fork.

Interestingly enough.. (BOB) WILL HALVE AGAIN - BEFORE Re-setting to 1.5/per Block.
