Kialara Physical Bitcoins/HAVEN: Update

Hope everyone reading this is doing great. Just wanted to poke my head in and share that I'm getting closer with the cases I've been working on. The 2014-2016 case design is complete and samples approved for production. The smaller 2017-2018 cases are being redesigned in the same fashion as the larger cases (without the thumbhole in the top/bottom sides), and I'll continue doing all I can to begin shipping these in June. The TPU material is really good now in terms of transparency, staying closed and being soft enough to protect the delicate and reflective metal finishes.

I will post an update here when these become available. Fingers crossed all goes smoothly.

Regarding the small number of Hydra bars remaining, I unfortunately ran out of good quality retaining rings to complete them, but they are on order. I'm planning on reopening sales for these in a few weeks and will post an update here on bitcointalk first when I do.

I'm thinking he's about to do another signature series release.   Or another custom piece.   I doubt we will get a silver series piece this early in the year but if I am wrong I will be pleasantly surprised.

Has someone opened a kialara? I'm curious to see what the note with the private key is like, how it is printed, size, etc. Has anyone explored? or are there images about this?

There's a picture of a cracked one out there somewhere. I think maybe Max shared it. I'll try and find it for you when I find some time a bit later on.

Max commented that the paper is waterproof and even salt water, which was what I use in the tests.

Kryptowerk, thanks! The box is a standard leatherette I found for slabs. I scaled the size of my bars down so they would be the same size as most slabbed coins, so that my customers would have more storage options for them

Perhaps one day in the near future I’ll take a stab at creating a more streamlined aluminum case w/ artwork designed for my bars or possibly other slabbed coins as well.

Hox, yes I believe these cases will relieve some anxiety for many! Myself included. See above regarding box.

Rmcdermott927, at this point anything could happen. I probably won’t have anything new available before late summer/fall, though.

bitcoiner24h, I’ve heard of a couple being opened through the forum here. And I’ve had a few customers since 2014 email me to tell me they redeemed a Kialara or ask me to help them with redeeming theirs. (fyi: bitcoin addresses never have 0’s or I’s in them)

Lastly, I am unfortunately still working on ordering replacement parts for a small number of remaining hydras… it’s more complicated than it should be. Hoping to have an answer at some point next week. I hesitate to say this as of now, but there's a small chance no more hydras will become available. At some point it would make more sense for me to just liquidate the emeralds/diamonds in them.

He’s got over a handful of variations at this point. It’s possible some versions are.

Hey MJ, all my pieces use tempered glass. There is a thin transparent film added to them so they won't shatter in pieces. Regarding them being waterproof... perhaps I should have said water-resistant? Did you test this? Because when I soaked the private key in water for a few days I recall still being able to read the key and I did do the same test with salt water. The backing is paper, which may become separated in water, but the printed area is a plastic-like material which for stayed legible after a soak. I may have old photos of this but would need to dig them up. Or maybe I can repeat the test next week - will be out of town the next few days so will check back in when I return.

A few updates:

1) I was able to order the replacement retaining rings for the hydra cases, so I expect to reopen sales for a small number of them in around 3 weeks. I just had to order QTY 10x more than needed.  

2) The cases are in production now, still hoping to make these available in June.

3) Regarding the Labyrinths, there were some questions as to whether these would return or not. These are officially discontinued. I ran out of parts in 2016 and had too many difficulties trying to order replacement parts for these. I will be destroying the serialized discs like I did with the 2014's when I get a chance. Close to all of the labyrinths with silver balls were sold, and only a few hundred+ with ceramic balls were sold - making them actually more rare than w/ silver. I'll post more precise figures soon after I destroy the stock I have. My site has been updated to reflect this.

edit to add: The two hydra suites I have remaining, 19 & 21, will be auctioned on eBay (for my customers who don't use the forum here) as soon as I reopen sales for the remaining hydras, in a few weeks hopefully. I've delayed auctioning these so that I may send out one email to my mailing list instead of two.

The 2014/2015 cases arrived recently and I'm still unpacking/assembling them. Waiting for word that the smaller cases are complete and have shipped, at which point I will determine how best to distribute these. Wanted to post an update... also I'm wanting to wait until both case designs are on hand before accepting any orders/requests. Thank you!

Will be too big. Those fit decent in baseball card and currency note cases though.

Glad to see these Max, esp having been on the hunt for so long. Its also great you found cases that both are clear and not cloudy as well as non-abrasive to silver. Can’t wait to get them.
