At this point I'd say cryptonote is far better than zerovert, primarily because zerovert is closed source and there is no way to tell that transactions can't be doublespent by the developers[...]Also, I believe ring signatures are more mature technology than zerocoin.
That was my feeling, but you backed it with some facts. If the dev can get back in here and open the source code, that'd be nice! Otherwise, what are you waiting for dev? People already know this is (possibly) the first successful Zerocoin implementation, the word has spread. There's an incredible amount of hype around Zerocoin and Zerocash even if it's true that they are inferior to cryptonote technology.

There's an incredible amount of hype around Zerocoin and Zerocash even if it's true that they are inferior to cryptonote technology. Dev has already mentioned they chose to keep the source closed in order to establish a network effect. I wouldn't expect to have the source for a few months. In the meantime, there are very good papers written on the web, for you to go through, if you would like to get a good understanding of the technology. It's been analyzed quite well, and has a real chance. Just like everything else, it's gonna go through improvements. I hope over time, both zerocash, zerocoin, and cryptonote can be developed to their fullest, with a working implementation, so that we can decide. That will be years off though !

CAN ANYBODY IN THIS THREAD TELL ME HOW MANY COINS THEY ARE MINING FROM A GPU EVRY 24HRS?
I'm with 1 X 7970 + 3 X 7950 (1100 -1150 Khash/s) for about 40-45 hours approximately, earned 4.3 Zerovert and 18.80 VTC. However, I am stopped mining because of the high consumption of electricity (I can not even cover the cost of my electricity energy although prices among the lowest in Europe) and I wait for the new algorithm which should be much more economical. that would be 0.06$ for hour, while your power consumption is just about 1kW... and 0.06$/kWh is not very common for plain GPU miner - so probably scrypt ASIC is the only reasonable answer here

For all those who have trouble opening the wallet, delete the chainstate folder in the roaming directory..this at least lets the wallet open once..then again you have to delete chainstate...somebody should correct this bug!!

The interesting difference between Ring Signatures (ala cryptonote) and Zerocoin - is that one anonymising the transaction, while the other basically "scrubs" the history of the coin. Basically this means you can opt-in or out of the anonymity option as and when needed.

be veeeery carefull, such question: The held BTC investment will only be released to the developer, "ArenaCoin" after the ArenaCoin has been distributed, and there's an overall stability of the wallets, and blockchain and a working block explorer.
If any issues arise with the distribution I will provide mediation and release the Bitcoin to the party with the most compelling evidence.
Shouldn't be here: "After the ArenaCoin has been distributed, and there's an overall stability of the wallets, and blockchain and a working block explorer, and zerocoin implementation is onboard, and is working fine (i.e. anonymous transactions are working)" ? was already moderated twice, there is third try here (probably the proof of above soon ): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=852050.msg9494631#msg9494631

o yeah, ain't that nice.. btw, please re-read if you have not done so already first page of this thread and I quote "There tends to be a lot of unneeded negativity on online forums in general, and bitcointalk announcements in particular" I like the fact that it is a low key operation by vert developers, 20 or so thread pages.. kind of like that, I believe people are tired, # of alt coin releases also have gone down, good

Hi guys, I've just made a page that may hopefully make it easier in the process of sending those minted zerocoin's that you have made. http://www.verters.com/zeroIt doesn't do the whole process (as it couldn't without access to the private keys) - but it should hopefully make the whole ordeal of manually crafting a transaction that much simpler. Let me know.
