I hate this restriction. I am unable to post what I want in the appropriate thread. Does encourage spam

You have to browse for 4 hours and make a few posts.

If you make your post in this thread, I'll quote it on the other thread for you, if you like.

This restriction is necessary for getting to know the forum better.

Apparently it is only updated hourly, so it might take a while.

Hi,
I would like to take part in the ASIC group buy but I need to be able to send PMs.

Is one post enough to enable me the PMs?

Regards,
Racerkrk

I want to ask some questions about this bounty:

    https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=80815.msg912315#msg912315

But I can't post there yet. What do I have to do to be able to post there?

Hi, you have to send 4 or 5 posts and you should be able to post in other sections. I think you have to be online for 4 hours or something too

It makes sense considering the likelihood of spammers.

But I have to spam other areas of the forum with crap just to post a comment on the relevant thread.2nd post 3 to go (and a few hours)...

Well... even though I am new here and the restrictions are as someone here already stated "pain in the ass". I find them as quite useful tool, that should be implemented on most forums...

I was thinking of simply using localStorage with optional encryption with a passphrase, but I'm definitely up for other suggestions
