If it is helpful here is my output from getpeerinfo.  You could try adding ip address to the config file using addnode to get connected.  I'm not sure what is going on, I had no troubles getting connected but have experienced issues with other coins in the past.

Hey Cedric, what ever happened to updating the wallet to the latest bitcoin core? I remember you mentioning that and that's more likely something that can be updated in the present/near future. Hope more people with the skills to help this project, can help you out. This project would be nice if it expanded more.
