just wondering when the next update on how many votes the nominees have will be? Smiley would be good to know how many votes the top guy has and everyone else.

Very soon! Evoked should be posting a status update later today, or tomorrow.

Just a quick reminder, we will be filtering accounts and posting all ineligible accounts that have nominated here, to keep this as transparent as it can be.

Official Voting will begin 12/1/2014. We are currently working out the final details, on the safest and most convenient way for voting.

What we are considering voting via social media, Twitter, Facebook, and Googleplus, for a broader outreach and exposure to many of the digital currencies that have 15+ nominations, and the nominated individuals themselves. More details next week.

ok thanks Smiley

Does that mean the votes made thus far will not count in the official tally?

Correct, this is currently the Nomination phase. To get an accurate depiction of who to vote on for the voting phase. (re-worded) The Bitcointalk community is choosing the potential winners, to progress to the voting round.

15 Nominations are needed to get into the official voting round, to reduce the overall number of candidates. Then once voting is open, all votes that are valid will be counted and the individual with the most votes, wins the 2014 Proof of Honor awards.

The award will be extensive on our end (offering some neat stuff) and some unannounced goodies. Stay tuned Smiley

[Nomination Procedure - Update #5]

A big thank you to all of those who have spent their time to vote for their favourite crypto heros! There are some people who are really close to going through to the voting round and others who have recently joined the list with a great number of people supporting their work. We have also had some people suggest ways that we can improve the voting process. Rest assure we are doing what we can to increase the integrity of the votes and also working on something special for the winner. You can see more details about this in a post made by TK:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855130.msg9625552#msg9625552

You can select anyone in the crypto environment, not just developers!

I nominate EffectsToCause from VeriCoin.info

The entire VeriCoin Team has been transparent from the start.

But what many don't know is that Doug (EffectsToCause) is the Dev who does the actual coding to the protocol while Pat works more with the network and super nodes. Dave did some work with the feature implementation.

Doug is a patent holding Biologist who works on coding for protein folding during his day job, has a family and yet stays up until 2AM every night working hard on writing code, debugging etc.

People don't really know this because he's not very outspoken and is extremely humble.

Other great Devs IMO - JL777, Syntaks and Rat4.

I would like to nominate Daniel "bytemaster" Larimer.

Among other things, Larimer worked out how to create bitAssets, that is, assets (like bitUSD) that exist on a blockchain but are pegged to the value their real world counterpart, Larimer pioneered the notion of a Distributed Autonomous Company (DAC), Larimer built Delegated Proof of Stake (DPOS) and Transfer Invisibly To a Name (TITAN) to serve as the underlying BitShares blockchain-technology, Larimer outlined the relation between decentralization, economies of scale and cost.

Larimer also started the bounty for the most watched Bitcoin video ever back in 2010.

Larimer also deserves special mention for being exceptionally generous and honest with his projects, outlining them in detail on the forums long before developing them, sharing all his insights and solutions immediately as he thinks of them, encouraging people to challenge them, and having all code and written content available openly with free access.
