I think Dec 19 is the hardcoded end date for POW. At least it was in the old version, I can't be bothered to look it up now.

Nicehash is easiest to take advantage of, works just like a pool. But MRR and Betarigs are paying a lot more.

You can try doing some math, but I'm not sure if there is any reliable data on difficulty/hashrate. I can see the official client reporting wild swings, my miner is also showing 280M diff one minute then 100M the next. I guess many renters are just gambling at the moment. But I think you might be too late if you're thinking about renting. Prices are crazy high on rental sites.

At this point, it looks like the opportunity is diminishing. Like others have said, rental prices on Betarigs + Nicehash are high at the moment. Nicehash has been increasing steadily, although I was able to make a quick/small grab a handful of hours ago @ 0.121 BTC/TH/Day for a fun gamble.

Looks like XPY's price is hovering right around the buy wall now too.
