He's bragging and backpedaling in the same post. Now it's 5% of Bitcoin. And they broke rental sites. https://hashtalk.org/topic/23090TL;DR: restart Sunday from block 277. GAW_CEO Admin Moderator Industry Innovator
Paycoin Stalled Update 2
PayCoin™ was launched today and due to an immense interest in the coin from miners and mining pools, it was so successful over 5% of the global SHA256 hashpower was pointed at the coin within hours of launch. Pool operators reported a growth which would reach over 10% of the global SHA-256 hashpower in a matter of hours.
The coin was solo mined by private and public pools with enough hashpower to cause independent forks making it impossible to track the true network hashpower. This also made full network consensus difficult to reach.
Prior to the launch, mining rental sites started selling at an increased pace. In less than 4 hours, PayCoin™ went from a concept to a coin with multiple public pools and exchange trades. Most public rental SHA-256 hashpower from the big 3 rental sites was pointed to it and users reported slowness on the provider websites. Several private rental services recieved calls for 1PH/s to 5PH/s rentals in order to mine PayCoin™ by large
The amount of hashrate added to the network and speed at which it was added was unprecedented. Some of the top technical devs in the industry were even surprised. This naturally led to some complications.
The first public pools came online within 20 minutes of the coin’s launch. Within hours of the launch an exchange began trading PayCoin™ and the first coins were traded at $24.71.
After 3 hours of mining the network hashpower was still fluctuating by up to 30% per block.
The network hashrate fluctuated by several Ph/s from block to block. This massive ramp up and migration of hashpower caused a glitch in the Proof of Work difficulty adjustment which is actively being resolved as we speak. The goal is to prevent network stalls and instamining blocks even with a sway in hashpower in the range of 50+ Ph/s at each block mined.
As of right now anyone past block 277 is on a forked chain and should resync their wallet. We are currently planning a re-launch from block 277 on Sunday night. Edit: If I'm reading this right - and I'm no coin expert for sure - their difficulty adjustment is fubared, and it isn't even thermonuclear. I don't understand though how hashrate could fluctuate by several PH/s from block to block, it looked to me that at least their official pool was just steadily growing.

Somebody go post on his twitter the link and in all caps "SO HOMERO, IT'S 5% NOW HUH?"
Seriously, you could try to do some math, it's good for your brain. Bitcoin hashrate: 299,090,788 GH/s Cumulative hashrate on Paycoin 20-30 minutes after launch: ~2.35 Petahash on just the main pool, not counting solo miners and other pools 2.35/(29.9-2.35) = 8.52% minimum hashrate that switched over, not counting solo miners and other pools Basic math. Do it right.

Do it right. I see. That's probably the same math that will be used in HashStakers. Some slight movements with the decimal point and 5% APY becomes 500%.
