This thread has 10 years worth of AMD/Intel type of trolldom rolled into one little lump. Tasty!  Tongue

Brass Tacks: What yield are people mining Paycoin actually seeing??

I could care less about all of the holier-than-thou BS and brand identification trollery. I just want to know if it would be better to take my miners off of renting and directly mine Paycoin? The yield predicitions I see on Multicoin pool jump around so wildly they make Firefly coin look a bedrock of stability.

Around .068 btc per th/s in a 24 hour period

Thank you. That is around the number I was getting by trying to average the wild prediction swings. I think I will stick to renting. My last payout was .074 / 12 hour shift for 1.8 TH. Not as good as a couple of .05 / 6 hour shifts I had a couple days ago when this nuttiness began, but still the best thing going. Nicehash went to 12 hour shifts last night, must be overloaded.....

If this guy's calculations are correct (So the final PoW Block with have almost 170,000 XPY reward in it?), then the race for the final block is going to be, hmm, crazy?

... but most probably they'll change the rules and won't let it happen ... or not ... who knows Wink

This was removed from Hashtalk extremely fast Wink

PayCoin whitepaper states: "The miner who mines the final block, will receive a proportional block reward that is derived over the existence of the Proof-Of-Work stage, in relation to difficulty of the mined block".

Do I get this right that all blocks should be mined until 1419094800 (Sat, 20 Dec 2014 17:00:00 GMT)? And 12 mio coins have already been pre-mined and now the rest 500k are being mined?

The more I learn about this coin it just gets goofier by the minute.

Q: What to do about people getting wise to pre-mines of alt coins and avoiding anything with more than a couple percentage points of pre-mine?

A: Pre-mine 95% of the coin and hire some really good marketing fellas to convince everyone it is a great thing.

I recall a quote from this German fellow with a funny mustache who was an ace at mis-leading people:

Quote
Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it.

Genesis block 0 was empty. No coins and no trnsactions. Block 1 (first block after the genesis block) was mined for 12,000,000 coins. Many on HT says this was not pre-mining. If it is not a pre-mine then what the fuck is it?

According to the genuises on HT, it is not pre-mine because:

(1) It was (according to Josh) used to pay ICO investors and for Hashpoint conversion (though as others have noted, this does not explain 12 million coins)

(2) 12,000,000 Paycoins is so small in relation to the 1.5 billion coins that will be minted, that it matters not

(3) Who cares, because Satoshi himself premined so why not?

EDIT: (4) It was disclosed (really it wasn't fully: Josh initially said no pre-mining; whitepaper said 5.5 million premined for ICO investors; then a day before releasing wallet Josh posted something about additional investor which arguably implied having to increase the 5.5 million ICO premine round)

Seriously, this is the extent of the argument before my shadow ban for even asking the question.  Can't make this up.

It's simple. GAW competed for it with all of their 5 (or is it 35) petahashes, and by sheer luck managed to be the first to mine it. To make sure it was fair and balanced they didn't release the coin until 12+ hours after the first block was mined Smiley

According to the genuises on HT, it is not pre-mine because:

Anyone got any maths to show that ICO investors payment and HP conversion is not equal to 12 million? I'm on the fence till I see some proof. You guys are too biased to take at face value.

It's not conclusive, jimmothy appears to be wrangling the data till it fits the outcome he wants. There hasn't been any unbiased analysis afaict, and I expect that's not even possible till GAW release figures. Until then, this is all conjecture.

Thank you.

On a slightly different note - what do you make of this continuing bragging about hashrate?

https://hashtalk.org/topic/23789

Not sure why it bothers me so much but it's just so bizarre and illogical... I mean BTC is still at nearly 300 PH/s, so doesn't anyone stop to think for a minute where 100 PH/s could come from?
