Just in case anyone missed this small part of the details, the OP states Qora is going open at 8:00 PM, GMT today. Don't get restless because we still have about 8:00 hours.

Thanks for reassuring us about the timing. I missed the time given in the OP and was beginning to get worried there.

@ rlh - would you be able to quickly discern Qora source against NXT code? Unfortunately, I wouldn't know where to begin. It would be fantastic if you (or someone) will report to the community once OS. I hope other higher level reviews will be done say by CfB of NXT and maybe JL777 of SuperNet (sorry, these are the only devs I know).

Well, I could but I'll wait before I invest my little free time into this. I'm not familiar with thr Nxt code so I would have to look at both.
I would suggest we reach out to Jean-Luc, CfB or any of the other Nxt devs once the source is open. In fact, I'm willing to post the request at Nxtforum.org but I'd rather wait until the source is available. I'm sure someone would be willing to look and respond. Also, I think it would be best if I didn't do it because it is obvious that I have a vested interest in Qora.
FYI, I think the most objective response anyone can give is that the code is "very likely" not a fork. This is because heavily modified code can appear to be significantly different but still originate from an existing code base. It's easy to verify if something is a clone when little has changed. However, if you copy someones work but modify 99% of it, you can not verify whether it is a clone or not because to much has changed and nothing is left to compare. It is worth mentioning, though, that it is also very-highly unlikely that someone would copy an existing coin and modify it so much that it is unrecognizable from the source. In my experience, when you have to change a project that much, you should have started fresh from the beginning because "your code" is far easier tp understand and manage.
I'm not saying this to be negative, but just objective. We will never hear "it is impossible for this to be a clone" because that is logically unprovable based off of the strictest definition of a clone.

+1! This is why (a long time ago) I stated that I didn't care if this is a fork or not. I do, however, care if it's innovative (and continually innovating.)
A good forging algo and a framework that can be easily expended/improved is what I'm hoping to see. B-)

there are forging algos, crypto algos, etc. that need to be reviewed here folks.
True, review of these are more important indeed.

+1 It's the end result that counts, regardless whether this is a fork or not.
