Pirate bay was decadent with all the porn and viagra ads around.

Even if it is permanent, it won't by no means be worse than when megaupload died, and we survived it.

I agree, all the ads were gross and the pop-ups were annoying. Just I live outside the US and it was my main source for current tv. I can find others, but just takes a little more effort.  Tongue

piratebay is old news, I don't think most people uses it. Try popcorn thing where you could watch movies/tv shows streaming online.

Edit

It is called popcorn time, google it

That depends on which peers and seeds you are connecting with.

I mostly get at least 10MB/s downloads from trusted uploaders.

They have several 1GB/s seedboxes that they use for sharing.

Here is an update for anyone who is interested. http://torrentfreak.com/swedish-police-raid-the-pirate-bay-site-offline-141209/

It included server other sites such as EZTV.it , Torrage and others..Looks like they won't be returning as all the servers were sized by police.  Shocked Angry

Terrible news. I hope for some kind of resurrection in the future. They can move to some distant country without those horrendous laws. Like China - they do not care about piracy at all.

I hope so as well. In the past they have been able to maintain the servers and keep the mirror sites running. I guess they nabbed the master servers so the mirrors cannot keep updated. At least it looks like that. It really sucks! The other torrent sites are not as nearly user friendly as PB. I hope it can return in some form in the future.  Cry

They should be able to update a mirror into a master.  I've seen them raided before, and they always come back up.

You are right - they have the best user interface, even with all the annoying ads.   Smiley

There are more than 4-5 mirrors for TPB (seen some of them on torrentz and other torrent search engines). Sad it was taken down for everyone not spending tons of dollars on programs/tv shows etc... lets see if it comes back...

http://rt.com/news/212911-pirate-bay-police-raid/
Quote
Earlier in September, The Pirate Bay announced new cloud technology which made its servers “raid proof,” adding that the 21 “virtual machines” (VMs) were scattered around the globe with cloud-hosting providers.

The cloud technology reportedly made the site more portable and made the torrent harder to take down.

Thepiratebay.cr, seems to be too much traffic though.

Turn off the news and read. Watch Psywar, learn something important about our society and PR, why and how it got started and how it brainwashes you.

Pirate Bay vs. Governments battle is another reminder to move beyond centralized servers.
If what we're attempting to do is share files in an annonymous, private and free fashion, why are we still relying on centralized servers to do the job for us?
