I was expecting TPB to be back online again. Not sure why it takes them this long. Haven't downloaded anything in days  |

I was expecting TPB to be back online again. Not sure why it takes them this long. Haven't downloaded anything in days There are many other torrent sites to choose from. Taking down TPB to stop the piracy is like blowing up Facebook's data center in hope of killing the social media. |

I wonder why websites like this is still being hosted in a centralized server. It is supposed to be hosted on a decentralized network using bit torrent like architecture.

IsoHunt which has had it's own issues with being taken down, is offering TPB some support. Af first it looked to be just another mirror site, but they appear to be serving new contest. You can read the story here: http://venturebeat.com/2014/12/12/isohunt-unofficially-resurrects-the-pirate-bay/Isohunt was running out of Canada for a long time but was shut down after various court appeals from what I know. They were brought back to life by some anonymous group of people, no clue where it is ran out of now. How far is the decentralizing thing currently as far as hosting a huge website? Can it handle the enormous traffic that it generates at a daily basis and still work smooth? I had a look at kickass.so and it's not that bad to be honest. Huge loads of seeds. |

So the Swedish Police did it?... Can't wait for the real TPB to come back since the other (even the clones) don't feel quite like it... There are hundreds of torrent sites/clones/sources so this isn't so effective IMO as TPB will possibly come back after a while...

I need the software that helped them keep hidden so long. It's not like a 'host' wouldn't notice me hosting a pirate ship using their services. |

Hmm... I wonder if it's possible to implement torrent links in a decentralized blockchain-style manner? The Bitcoin blockchain is just a list of transactions. It shouldn't be too difficult to create a blockchain composed of torrent entries. Some type of rating system could be implemented on top to filter out non-genuine entries and there could be a built-in mechanism for pruning of old or inactive links.
Datacoin seems to work pretty well for data so I'd be surprised if the concept isn't viable for torrents - which are a type of data.
