I suspect photoshop at work - the specs match pretty well with a 16 BM1384 per chain unit, and the photoshop appears to have 3 PCI-E connectors per board (if this monster actually existed you COULD use multiple power supplies, no need for a 230V circuit), but I suspect it's not an actual design.

Would have been better to photoshop a 20-per-chain design, much better efficiency at the cost of some hashrate.
Even 18-per-chain would be a significant efficiency gain, though iffy if it would still be profitable after next summer and block reward halfing.

I would say that from an technical point of view this is far too good for Photoshop, every aspect of it from an electronic perspective makes complete sense. Yes for the home we would rather have seen 17-20 in the string but for a Farm keeping the GH up at the max makes far more sense.

It looks like these could be sold as individual units with or without a controller.  I like the design; very modular.

S5+

432 chips, 7722GH/s, 3436 Wt

Have anyone heard about it?

so instead of working at making it more efficient, they just throw more chips at it and make it more expensive..

yeah no thanks..

it would be very easy of bitmain to make a s3 with  s5 chips that did 500ghs? at half the power of the s3 for us home miners. it would probably be virtually silent too..

Yes but why do that when you can make a unit that maxes out the Gh, run it yourself for a few Months & then sell it on to home miners.

What might be a clever trick would be to design it as a 3 module unit and then sell them on as single module units with a S5 controller board???

don't work as a home miner thou ..I could run the beast...but at 13c kwh where I'm at according to www.tradeblock.com it would lose money

if you assume 11 BTC for the unit at 300 usd a btc or 3300 usd

7722gh

3436 watts

3300 usd

0 pool fee

13c kwh in my case

just don't float the boat in my view Smiley

With chained power, more chips per chain = lower voltage = more efficient.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

if they are using the s5 chips, those would have to be some pretty high cfm fans to cool it.

the s5 has heatsinks twice the size and they run pretty hot.

It may be real  but why does itop have a price for it ahead of bitmaintech?

3299 plus shipping  and   it needs 3 evga 1300 psu's >>>>>> a guess

In the USA any gear over 2500 for import is a hassle.   so if this is the new gear and it is 3299 plus 100 to ship  it is 3399.

I can't use it.  And it will be really fucking loud.

The heck with this 3 unit set of S5+'s for practical use. I just want to be able to get a S3++, or one of these single S5+ miners.

not to mention you wont be making much more btc then if you had 7 s5s running at stock speed.

you could probably get away with making the same amount with 5 or 6 OC'd s5s.

thats what im saying, bitmain is missing the market here..

make a 16x2 BM1384 miner, that pretty much copies the s3 in case and fans.

they would use less power then the s3 and ultra quiet..

according to the chart on the first page, a 16x2 board machine running the 13.75 would be 440 GHS @ only 150W

Hahhhh.. Sadly i have to disagree. This is exactly hitting the market. Home mining is mostly dead in scale. There is little point working on highly optimized technology for maximum efficiency yada yada. Why make a high tech miner and mass produce it, when its just going to devalue their own mines. Why spend so much time and money comming up with technological edge ASIC?

Its much more efficient to mass produce cheap asic and slap them on electricity at 3-4cents/kwh. Too bad for people paying 8+cents/kwh is probably what they think. ^_^"

China style. Cheap Mass Production.

the bold is why we no longer get gear.

Many home miners can do 2 cents to 5 cents due to a 'cheap' power niche.  I can supply 2k watts at 3.4 cents in the summer and at 2.4 cents in the winter.

In both cases the heat my 4 s-3's give off are a bonus.  as the office they run it is too cold in the summer due to excessive ac and too cold in the winter due to inadequate

heat.

I know of 2000 homes using baseboard electric heat.  That is correct. everyone of them would make out with a quiet set of miners.   The only one that was really good was the avalon 4.1 it was a small sale at high prices.   Due to the fact that  the bold quote above is what is being done by the builders of asic to people that could use the miners.

I do not blame or hate them it is a business model that is working for asic builders.  They will continue to do it.

If I was to have one of these at home  Smiley I would want to try underclocking and undervolting so we immediatly hit 2 issues.
First have Bitmain by luck or judgement sorted it's ability to run on reduced voltage?
Second how on earth are you going to easily get an efficient 3500W at probably around 10V. Good news is that voltage will have gone up slightly because of the increased chain length from 15 to 16.
