can anyone with RMA experience share if it is necessary to send the entire miner back or can i just send the faulty parts. Thanks

If you can diagnose exactly what part it is, you can send that part in if you arrange it with the US team in advance. Contact them via ZenDesk. Be sure to link to your post describing the issues, what type and how many miners you wish to have repaired/replaced and your bitmaintech.com order number.

Nope in my garage. Ambient air temp is +7°C but the nights are still dropping to -6°C.

Here is my pair:

New one is on the left. Another is supposed to arrive tomorrow.

Also I am thinking that I am getting a pull - pull situation. The miner is pulling from the front to back and then the PSU is pulling from back to front. I think that is helping. I may have to tweak this once it starts getting warmer and I definitely will not be overclocking.

The speculation is that Bitmain is selling off the units they have been mining with as they replace them with new generation units. This isn't an issue as long as they identify the units as being used rather than new.

Another possibility is that refurbished units are being sold as new.

Another possibility is that people are just mistaken.

Where did you get it? How does one install it? No idea how to update firmware. also, is it third party? Last thing I want to do is brick it.

I've made it. Based on latest official with fresh cgminer and some tweaks, include some additional software to render nice graphs  Cheesy also includes right extranonce patch, flashed like official firmware via web interface.
But this is not an official firmware so for many people this is not an option
Btw, brick is impossible, if you had power outage when flashing, just load s4 firmware onto sd card and boot miner, after that flash s5 firmware again

Hey smith can you provide a step by step tuto to use your firmware? I know you helped Prelude with S4 so I trust you on that firmware.  Grin

No special knowlege or steps needed, just download firmware form nicehash(https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=software#asic), load it via web interface System->Upgrade, wait 90 seconds, done.
Also you can navigate to http://miner_ip/cgi-bin/graph.rrd to see some perf graphs. They collected locally in background every 60 seconds, stored in /config folder so the stats will survive reboots.
