UPDATE:

1. 'Kobocoin Abe' has now been cleaned up, and the code uploaded to github (including our X15 hashing module).
2. Links to, and from, the Kobocoin Abe explorer have been added to the main website, and the bottom of the Abe explorer pages as well.

Check it out - http://kobocoin.com/

What's next

1. Build the Kobocoin Android Wallet Shocked

Building the wallet is not going to be straightforward. X15 hashing has to be done again for the Android wallet. I'll get started in a few hours.

I'll keep you updated with progress.

UPDATE:

Hurdles as per normal. I have to implement a new feature into the Abe Explorer to allow the getvalidhashes API call which is made by the Android wallet. The module has been implemented but when I try to rebuild the Abe database it produces an error which I haven't been able to budge from for 24hrs. Working with bitcoin code is very frustrating (as anyone who's tried will tell you!).

I'm working on getting it sorted with another dev, and Matthew Mitchell, who built the original Peercoin wallet itself. I'm hoping that the next 24hrs at least brings a fix for the current issue so I can get onto solving the issue that will show up after fixing this one, and the one that will show up after that one, and the one that will show up after that one... and so on. You'll be the first to know once I get past the present hurdle.

The Abe explorer will be up and down today as I try to get this issue resolved.

UPDATE:

NEW Abe explorer is up and running at http://167.160.36.102:8080/. This is a brand new implementation of Abe.

The getvalidhashes API call is now available:

BUT...

For some reason the addresses being displayed are incorrect. The settings are all correct in all the right places, so for now I'm not going to let it delay me. This doesn't stop the build of the android wallet as the addresses all exist correctly in the DB. For some reason they are just displaying incorrectly in Search results. This can be fixed once the Android wallet is built.

Give it a try. Search an address. The results are correct but if you click on a transaction, the address reporting is incorrect.

I will let you know when I get to the next step.

Good work, Dev Grin

Regarding my previous issue, since deleting the .conf 7 out of 8 mintings have been successful & it hasn't stopped syncing at all, so thanks for the advice & you can call the issue closed, with a happy coin holder.

UPDATE:

Once again, hurdles are forcing improvements to the platform.

Rather than fight with the address issue on the Abe explorer (now it's been upgraded for use by the Android wallet), I decided to build a new Abe explorer on dns2 that's doesn't support the android wallets but displays all addresses and information correctly.

The new Abe explorer is at:

http://82.211.31.186:8080/

So, final setup as follows:

dns1.kobocoin.com - DNS seeder & Abe Explorer (Mobile wallets only)
dns2.kobocoin.com - DNS seeder & Abe Explorer (General use)

The website has been updated to reflect this change.

The kobocoinj and android wallet are now built with all the necessary functions included, but once again, there's an issue. The wallet compiles and installs onto the phone, but crashes when you try to run it. This should hopefully be the last hurdle before the wallet is released.

Once we get past this hurdle I'll give it the kobocoin colour scheme and get it released. I'll post a link here first before uploading it to Google Play.

Can someone explain the total number of coins please:

Below (getinfo) the moneysupply is shown as 24019028.79038081 but with 1000 KOBO per block and 85710 block that number should be 85,710,000, right? or?

As per the first post in this thread, the POW phase ended at block 43,200 (ended 25th February, 2015). Also what you have to factor in, is that as soon as the first mined blocks were in a wallet, shortly after that, wallets were generating blocks via POS. So during the whole time of POW, POS overall stole about 44.5% of the blocks away from POW, generating maybe 1 KOBO or less for a POS instead of the 1000 for POW. This number was less towards the beginning, and at the end it got higher than 60% of the blocks at times.

Having a smaller money supply currently is good for the value. It was a bit bad for miners, as they didn't make as much as they thought they would. And it will still grow slowly with POS, but will take years to be where you think it should be..
