Lot of late-comers who are now just hearing about Bitcoin and finding out their only way to obtain it is to spend money or scam. Since many of them are broke to begin with, they opt for the latter.

This is such a book mark thread for every person who wants to invest in some sort of cloud mining.. Almost an entire history on one thread.. BFL.. I think cloudminr.io is potentially one, but then again, they always been paying out.. so its hard to say when they`ll do a pbmining moment.

Could this thread made a sticky one? I think it would be a really useful one to forum members in general, and newcomers in particular. Just my 2 satoshi, however!

This page has a pretty big list of confirmed Bitcoin scam sites: http://www.badbitcoin.org/thebadlist/I don't know who compiled it or what the requirements are for a site to be included though. For instance, I would have been hesitant to classify PBMining as a definite scam back when it was popular but it appears they listed it months before it went bust. why there are so many scammer in Bitcoin bussiness?
The responses in this thread answer the question of why scammers scam in the first place. Bitcoin seems to attract online scammers because it's pseudonymous, instantaneous, much harder to trace when mixed, and doesn't support chargebacks. With Bitcoin, the responsibility of the trade is solely on the buyer and unlike fiat banking, there are no centralized entities that can team up with authorities to regulate Bitcoin transactions. Honest? Gotta say, that's a pretty ironic name for a scam.

The scam site strevos.com should be added to the list. Someone was spamming the forum with a bunch of advertisements to that site earlier today with too-good-to-be-true offers ($200 for 1 BTC, and lower prices for greater amount of bitcoin - current Coinbase is ~$246). here is a thread discussing the site
