I thought Avast Anti Virus has the capability of blocking this malware? Until someone recommended to use malwarebytes.com. Has anyone tried this? As I haven't tried it yet.

I believe that Avast is highly overrated among alternative anti-viruses for a personal computer, even those antiviruses that are in the top do not today unfortunately give complete safety.

I've had a bad experience about it, even my bitcointalk account was ever taken over, I often get login notifications on my altcoin storage, I think it would be safer to use 2-step verification.

Anti Virus + Malwarebytes + Spybot search and destroy.

Encrypted Thumbdrive with all passwords stored offline

Ledger Nano S for Bitcoin and some others

Wallet.dat files saved and backed up on encrypted drive.

Most wallets with coins kept in offline PC, except staking wallets but I ensure I back up those every 3 days with and have a very strong password and only unlocked for staking.

As others have said never click on .exe files that you do not know the source of and don't trust any link sent from an email even if sent from a friend or family.

This is really good advice.

I personally use Comodo (NSA recommended) + Malwarebytes + Spybot
I would suggest you have a cold storage and hot storage. A cold storage is essentially an offline wallet (Ledger Nano or Trezor) and hot storage are wallets you use for liquidity (only the amount you are willing to lose). If you are storing your wallets on a machine you watch porn/torrent with..scan as often as possible.

@eBitICO
These scammers are smart and also ritch!

I was recently a phishing victim and follow now the wallets used by the criminal.

I am following the stolen money since Monday 20 Nov.

He is shuffling now 1000 stolen ETH from wallet to wallet 24/7.
Creating new wallets automatically with Smart Contracts, I suppose.
It looks like that he is on the run on the Etherium Blockchain...
I wonder if it is programmed to keep the shuffle of this criminals wallet ongoing 24/7.

ofcourse. Their easy targets are newbies and not knowledgeable starters. the easiest way to have money if you have the skill is hacking and programming. that depends on person to person.

keep it up.

Many learn from mistakes. Use antivirus software and check the addresses of the sites on which you are located. Also, do not keep private keys on your computer.

Guys I've heard that it's better to use an apple computer than other computers such as laptops and the operating system Windows XP, I've heard that an apple is a more secure system for using. It's true?

There are lots of malicious activities on the internet in our world which why we must be wary and careful on every website we click or accessed. Its threat is not only limited to virus activities but also gaining access to your wallet and steal away your money there. And then they are gonna bribe you by buying it with a huge amount of money something they called ransomware. Which can happen here in bitcoin so we should help each other in detecting this scammers so the community of bitcoin will be clear from malicious and suspicious activities.

yeah winXP is so old you can't even GPU mine from it. win7 or 8.1 still work good, but effort is needed in those systems to remove M$ spyware recently introduced as updates, Win10 so useless... so yep Mac or Linux is the best choice, i'd highly reccomend Linuxmint for a beginner  Smiley  (you can install it to dual-boot on your windows machine, just be careful not to erase windows...)

I thought so, thanks for writing your opinion on this issue. I'm thinking of buying an apple to store all the crypto currency, and I'll use other computers to install wallets from other small projects, since this is less risky.

I give a link to very good programs https://www.virustotal.com and Panda ActiveScan. I often use them, I'm not saying that they will protect 100 percent of malicious links, but it helps a lot. In general, it's better not to download anything suspicious, because scammers do not doze and a lot of clever cyber criminals are now thinking about how to steal Our bitcoins.
