Hello all,

I made a faster Lyra2RE kernel, currently it can do 1780 Kh/s on an r9 290 at core clock 1000 and memclock 1500.
It also works very fine at 1770 Kh/s with reduced core clock of 835, so very low power.
Tahiti (280x) hashing 1115 Kh/s at 835 core and 1500 mem (some users have reported even better results at 715 memclock).
Lyra is very dependent on memory performance, so depending on the ram chips you have on the card, the speed may vary sensibly.

Here is the full miner sources: LINK EXPIRED (sgminer-lyra2re.zip)
Windows build: LINK EXPIRED (sgminer-lyra2re-win.zip)

It includes a modified sgminer based on the djm34 version and my opencl files (some are slightly enhanced, some are heavily modified).
The kernel is not compatible with stock sgminer: contrary to what is usually done on multi algo kernels, I've made this one monolitic (instead of the original split version).

The miner has been developed on omega drivers (14.12) but it is reported to be working fine and as fast on newer ones - BUT - some users have reported half hashrate on the first card and fixed it by installing catalyst version 14.9.

Precompiled kernel binaries for 64 bit miner:
LINK EXPIRED (Lyra2REHawaiigw128l8.bin)
LINK EXPIRED (Lyra2RETahitigw128l8.bin)

----------------------------------------------------
OLD CROWDFUNDING TEXT FOR THE RECORD

People know me for my opensource works (including the groestlcoin opencl kernel), but now I'd like to try something different, kind of experiment, inspired by other people in this forum.
I will receive donations for it and send the binary to the donors. After a period of time, or if I get enough BTCs, I'll make it public (sources included).
I've had bad experience with donations in the past, let's see if Vertcoin people are different!
And know that if you leak the bin, diff will go up and you'll get less coins! ;-)

Donation BTC address: DISABLED

Current donation total: 0.197 BTC
Target: 3 BTC
Minimum donation for getting the bin: 0.02 BTC
Expiration: May 1

IMAGE EXPIRED

Note: in this picture I'm using a modified sgminer that provides another 2% increase at 835 core clock; I will not release this at first because it would be another sgminer fork for little gain.

Note2: the bin file you will receive is compatible with the latest djm34 sgminer, 64 bit, found here https://github.com/djm34/sgminer

normal temperature: it's a reference design, it reaches 95 before throttling.
and that card is mining at 92-95 C for a year now.

the temp on the chip is higher on reference cards but the total card power should be about the same as the other cards with better cooling.
so the total heat generated is the same.

I'll release the cl to the public at the end of the "campaign".

not 3M speed?

not yet :-)
and not easy to reach... lyra2 was designed to be memory intensive, so it's "slow on purpose".

The bin file you will receive is compatible with the latest djm34 sgminer found here https://github.com/djm34/sgminer
I can generate it for other miners as well, provided I can compile or run them: I do not have easy access to a windows pc with amd drivers so it might take time for this kind of build. Also I might need to modify the kernel itself if the parameters are passed differently.
So please people be kind and use djm34 version, also because it is the best! :-)

Can anyone post a pre-compiled version of djm34 Windows 64 bit sgminer, as I can't find a tutorial on how to compile it from source Huh

Thanks Roll Eyes

Having not followed Lyra2RE at all, what kinf of % increase is this over the public kernel? Wondering if this might be worth firing up a few 290x/290 cards for.

may-be it would be easier to use the visual studio for that, otherwise you'll need a x64 version of mingw (as well as the corresponding dependencies)

At 835 core clock it's around 2x; at 1000 it's less, probably around 1.5x.
Honestly I didn't spend too much time tweaking options for the default kernel, as I attacked the sources right away.

Nice work.  That card is running a tad hot even for a reference card.
I replaced the thermal paste on my own card and temp went down from 84 to 78 degrees, power draw went down 10W too.

Fellow miners, get your thens and thans in order and help other forum readers understand what you are writing. Remember the grammar basics:  B larger THAN A (comparator operator). If something THEN ....

I will have a look tomorrow with visual studio, but if someone comes with one earlier, I won't be jealous  Wink

That's because the fan is running slower.
6 degrees is really a lot just for thermal paste, I must try that!
