I know most people would say.... Bitcoin is used by ALL ages.. but I would like to test the statement with a small poll. We have seen the result of the latest http://www.reddit.com/r/millionairemakers/ ... GumMice a 16 year old and that made me think... What % of people from the different age groups are using Crypto currencies? 1. How many children are using Bitcoin? 2. Are we unintentionaly excluding some people from adopting Bitcoin/Crypto? 3. What is the legal implications? 3. What is the ethical implications? {Minors/gambling/Ponzi schemes} 4. Do we have more young people using it, than the older generation? 5. Do older people find it too complex? 6. Who should be the target market for faster mass adoption? We want EVERYONE to use Bitcoin/Crypto but are we approaching the correct age groups and are we explaining it in the right manner, with that in mind? I have met 10 year old's with more creativity and drive than most 20 to 60 year old people on this forum... Who are We? Age makes no difference.. I know... but people need to keep it in mind, when they create services or Apps or when they explain Bitcoin to newcomers. So let's see what you think.

I've read that the most typical BTC holder is white male, early 30's. I should also add that I've read that China is 70% of BTC market. So, the typical holder is a white Chinese male in his early 30's.

I wound not say 15-18 age amount much. Just as I would say 45 plus wouldn't either. Late late teens to like 45 max for most of the users.

I agree with OP. These are very important questions that need discussion and answering. Some members are concerned with the 20mb cap fight currently, but there are other issues (non-protocol) that need attention as well. BTW, I voted for 26 to 40, but I would not be surprised if we have more under 18 then we would all like to admit.

There was a research done ages ago about who are most likely to accept bitcoin. I remember it reported a bitcoin user is typically a young educated male. 1. How many children are using Bitcoin? 2. Are we unintentionaly excluding some people from adopting Bitcoin/Crypto?
I believe a lot of children are playing around with bitcoin, not necessarily using it to buy things. A small fraction of those may be using it to buy illicit goods. Bitcoin is more complex to use than credit card. It does favour the more technical people, I do not think it is too complex to the extent that it excludes people from using it.

Not gonna answer all your question. I voted for 17 to 25 years since most people I talk to on this forums sound like they were between this two ages.

You're never too young to become a success. So.. you are between that age? Well.. I wanted to vote for 1 to 16 too but I feel that people here are more mature so..

Personally, i believe that 26-40 is the age group of folks who use bitcoin. Reasons: 1) Ages 18 and below may buy some to play around with, but their resources (read pocket money / earnings) are limited.. they might purchase some to see how it looks and works though. 2) Ages 60 and above - too old and more concentrating on retirement, also fund flow is limited in this age bracket. 3) Ages from 19 - 25 have quite a few people who are willing to experiment with the new technology involved, again features a lot of people with not very deep pockets. Too early for them to think about investing, they might buy a few to have a look at how it works and gambling. 4) Ages 26-40 is my pick because these are the true investors, they are neither too young, nor too old. They are ripe for investing in Bitcoin and will also use Bitcoin in their daily life. Also, they will use Bitcoin for gambling and for purchases. They are generally financially secure at this point and could travel a bit where they would use Bitcoin. The view expressed above may not be agreed upon by all, but this is my opinion. Also, consider that i come from a conservative 3rd world country before you judge me . Personally i fall in the 26-40 bracket which maybe why i am biased .

We are a young new generation that will take the world by surprise with BTC.
We need to advertise it as much as we can.

Those are more geared to Bitcointalk users.... My poll is for Bitcoin users in general. {The family and friends you know, who are using it} It also ask some questions, that compliment the poll as a discussion point. We find the average age { or a fraction of the bigger picture } and then we decide on how it impact on our decision making to market and apply our skills to improve on things. {Eg.. Killer Appz for kids... etc.} It's always better to know your target market, and to do your research, before you blindy apply your skills. Situations also change over time... first adoption might have been more Adults or older people... now it might be younger people.. So information is power.

Sadly people often think that the older generations seem to be uninterested or lack the knowledge to really understand bitcoin. Well, I'm one of the middle aged group right now and in another 10 to 20 years, I'll become the so-called older generation. By then, I think we can start to take off the stereotyping image that older generations are not bitcoin enthusiasts.
