Doing this is generally not recommended. It seems that BitStamp does keep your deposit addresses as "yours" forever, so in this respect as long as BitStamp sticks around you should probably be okay, but why take that risk? Also, if you ever plan on selling your directly held ASICMINER shares, the buyer (or friedcat, if there was ever some kind of dispute) may ask you to cryptographically sign a message to prove your ownership of your registered address, which you won't be able to do if it's really BitStamp's. Better to stick with one of the main clients or at least use a Blockchain.info wallet address, which does let you sign/verify messages with your address. |
