Quoted But can you sign a message using that wallet of yours? It'll be nonesense to stake an address where you can't sign a message so be careful that you are using a wallet that has this option.

Why did you quote that very old post of ThePharmacist? Anyway, I'm assuming that you stake an address that you can't sign. I'm not familiar with any wallet which starts with 3 that has a signing option. You may want to choose a different wallet to stake like a mycelium, blockchain, coinbase, electrum etc where you can sign it.

Thank you sulendra12. It is recommended to do sign message too.
Mmmm, can you please give me an explanation about why it would be recommended? As I see it, signing a message proves that I hold control over the address right now. If in the future my account gets hacked, or if I lose the private key of the address, no message could be signed and ownership of the account won't be proved, so the purpose of staking is met. I have no problem signing a message, I just want to understand how it would strengthen the process. Thx.

Stake ONLY the address(es) doesn't proves you're an owner of that address because there are bulk of addresses out there (who knows you're pretending to be an owner of that address?). Sign message is important because it makes us believe you're a real owner of that address (you already know if you want to do sign message you must have an access of that address). I believe you're a REAL owner of the address (because members staked their address in here are an owner) but hey it takes only a minute and it won't bother you much (You will be raising our trust if you can do that).
since he is in a signature campaign instead of the usual "quoted".
Eeeh, this isn't a big deal for me. I get paid or not for this post it won't affect me. I said " recommended" so it's not mandatory to do. How about this? : 1 , 2

Yes it doesn't prove I'm the owner, but that is not a prerequesite as far as I understand. If I stake any other address, it won't serve any purpose, it won't harm the real owner and it won't enable me to prove ownership if my account gets hacked, so I have no reason to do so ... Let's assume I stake the address of a friend, if I need it, then I'll just ask them to sign a message for me. Owning the address doesn't seem relevant, what's important is to be able to produce a signed messge to claim ownership of the account. I believe you're a REAL owner of the address (because members staked their address in here are an owner) but hey it takes only a minute and it won't bother you much (You will be raising our trust if you can do that).
Thx for your trust. You're right it does take minutes and it won't bother me , I was just trying to understand if there was any use of doing that (that I missed). I still don't see why signing a message would be recommended in this context ... You did me the courtesy of quoting my address, so I'll grant your wish and sign a message . Edit: Message signed and post updated.
