What can we do to hold them morally and legally accountable for the frauds they have perpetrated on the crypto community ? This story is so twisted and convoluted that it is difficult to know where to begin. So lets start with this most recent revelation regarding the owner and operator of Cryptsy, Paul and/or Mark Vernon. (see next post) Please know that if you are a known Cryptsy insider/ collaborator and/or in an obvious past /present confict of interest, you will be ignored. The UK is a much safer haven for such people. In the US they get prosecuted, in China they get beheaded. In the UK they get a peerage. It's a bit of a shame that the cryptsy ship looks to be sinking. It was a great place for being able to dump any crap coin. Basically, if it ain't listed it ain't got a blockchain. I have to say I haven't had any problems with small non-BTC withdrawals myself, but will be leaving my exchange account flat for now. I just wonder what exchange to use instead that has a large selection of altcoins and liquidity. I prefer to use an exchange as an exchange, and store coins in my own wallets. I want to be able to deposit and withdraw small amounts quickly. With all the waves surrounding this sinking ship, valuating a portfolio is a bit of a waste of time. If a coin can be withdrawn from cryptsy it is high there and suppressed somewhere else. Some people are happy to take a loss to get out what they can. Which of course is better than losing the lot if the ships hole cannot be repaired. Even if their team of talented programmers can resolve the issue soon, the loss of faith will severely dent their user base. Nobody will loose a satoshi though, as crypto's are not a fractional reserve banking system. Every bit of clients funds will be accounted for somewhere.

My responsibilities at cryptsy grew from a summer internship to Head of IT and Director of Crypto Currency over 2 years while the company grew. I maintained the network, infrastructure and operating systems for the entire production network which was up to 50 physical machines and even more virtual machines. I coordinated and implemented a point of presence in Boston, Ma as well as implemented new security standards across our entire infrastructure. I was also responsible for maintaining the "Hot" wallets for the company. Three hundred resource intensive applications requiring maximum up time and security. These applications were storing millions of dollars worth of customers funds and needed to process up to 1.5 million requests per day from the frontend servers. This required me to design a completely new infrastructure. Starting at hardware selection, all the way to installation, configuration and deployment. The infrastructure included 12 physical machines and 300 virtual machines. In the year since it was implemented in January 2015 it has seen 100 Terabytes of external network traffic, 75 Petabytes of disk writes and has processed over 650,000 customer withdrawals of crypto currencies.
