Title: The Cryptsy Deceptions
Post by: Hippie Tech on December 13, 2015, 08:47:21 PM
Who are the people really behind Cryptsy and it's allied/ cloned exchanges ?

What can we do to hold them morally and legally accountable for the frauds they have perpetrated on the crypto community ?

This story is so twisted and convoluted that it is difficult to know where to begin. So lets start with this most recent revelation regarding the owner and operator of Cryptsy, Paul and/or Mark Vernon. (see next post)

Please know that if you are a known Cryptsy insider/ collaborator and/or in an obvious past /present confict of interest, you will be ignored.

As for everyone else I look forward to hearing any and all opinions and information on this matter.

[ANN] Coinxchange - Bitcoin exchange for the Philippines
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563687.0

Quote from: Ayakashi
I'm an owner of the company and a developer on the project.  You can learn more about my background on the about page.  The well-respected "Dabs" from bitcointalk is also a director in the company.

EDIT

Dabs AND Tagbond were all over it ! lol

Hi,

I'm a professional software developer and I've been working on writing a Bitcoin exchange from scratch.  I think the Philippines may be a good location to open an Exchange and the legal requirements appear to be reasonable.  Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

I've done some initial checking into what it would require to create a new foreign-owned corporation in the Philippines, because I intend to be fully registered.  One thing I haven't been able to learn much about is what the banking situation is like.  The US has ACH for moving funds in and out of banks.  India has NEFT. etc.  Does a similar situation exist in the Philippines and if so, what is it?  I've been able to see that if you have an account at "BankA" you can move money easily to another account, but I'm not sure whether this is easy between banks.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks

Just thought to let everyone here know that tagcash.com is now live for trading of Bitcoin and 16 other cryptocurrencies against each other, as well as 9 fiat currencies (including PHP). No transaction charges, and no charges for Philippine users to deposit PHP into BPI, BDO, Metrobank and Standard Chartered Bank. There is also an escrow function (free) that allows users to pay but not fully transfer untill Bitcoin etc has been fully transferred and confirmed, which also protects the seller as the money cannot be released untill proof either way.

Tagcash is a payment platform with a built in exchange. We are based in Makati, but available worldwide. Tagcash aims to become the paypal of cryptocurrency, and this requires us to have an exchange built in as part of the platform. If you want to start selling goods and services for Bitcoin or Cryptocurrency, you can do so using our free API, or creating a merchant account in tagbond.com and creating free adverts, coupons, shopping carts etc. Transaction charges are 1% of sales for merchant accounts.

@Ayakashi - We have been working for the last few months with Bangko Sentral, and we are going through the process of becoming licensed as E money issuers and have already created a 100m Peso company as part of the requirements. Although you don't need a license to create an exchange, we do because we are intending to compete with G Cash and Smart Money in Philippines. As for banking, it's fairly straightforward, different bank to bank payments cost about 100 pesos per transaction, depositing money costs nothing if you have bank accounts with most of the popular banks (as we do). It's been interesting learning about the requirements and needs here. I will be at the Bitcoin meetup next week if you want to talk more.

Thanks to those that replied, including @tagbond, @Dabs and @execute. I appreciate your insights.

I'm based in Las Vegas, USA, so unfortunately can't attend this meetup but I'll bet you'll see me at one in the near future.  I'm going to get the code nearer to test-ready stage, and then complete the company registration and banking locally. @tagbond, like you I plan to create a 100m Peso company so that I can register as a foreign-owned corporation although we'll have a local office.

Hippie Tech, I totally respect you but there's a whole thread about Cryptsy which Gleb Gamow and Spoetnik are spamming to death.  I fear this is going to turn into that.  I'm very interested in the state of affairs at Cryptsy but I can't get good info on this forum because of all the noise.

They aren't insolvent yet.  Have they made any official announcements?  I have a Cryptsy account still, and they've communicated nothing to me via e-mail.  I stopped using them weeks ago, however, so I can't say I've had any problems.

Spoetnik really pissed me off when he showed me his badge after I showed him my mine.  ;D

BTW, in spite of all that 'spam' I've penned, I'm the first one who linked to proof of Paul Vernon's new million-dollar-plus digs purchased back in March of this year while his customer based was being banned from Cryptsy chat for simply inquiring 'bout withdraw issues.

Please.  My sig campaign participation is about 7 days long so far and I'd be posting the same thing if I wasn't in it.  I'm concerned about Cryptsy and its effect on bitcoin, that's it.  I'm trying to get a definitive answer about their solvency, not just a bunch of blather.  And I made my argument about spamming, which is undeniably happening.

I'll drop the Yobit sig if they go scammer, but it hasn't happened yet.

Too bad you missed it before they wiped the chat.. Some cryptsy user posted stuff about "Chinese absorb US ball" and "china prefer american style penis" I ROFMLAO still just thinking about it..

Anyway I have tested this site with a few doge and it let me WD some RDD, it does work..

It was posted there "bitebi9 is not owned by cryptsy" which is the story all the cryptsy mods/admins also say but here http://domainbigdata.com/email/domains@projectinvestorsinc.com it clearly says that it is owned by paul vernon and project investors etc etc..

I have been trying to figure out bitebi9 ever since you, Gleb, posted a screenshot of it in the "FUD" thread, the really long class action one..

The site seems to be progressing like it is being built and slowly adding features like 2fa and forgot password functions, it's like it is in beta and we just kinda snuck into it..

at first i couldn't recall where that was it rang a bell (i lived in East Canada)
i figured it woudl be a suburb of greater Toronto.. nope.
It's way more north.. not even close.
So yeah you can't say it was close enough etc.

Less than two hours after creating his account, Spoetnoob launches Bunnycoin with a storyline that has become all too familiar.

http://img.techpowerup.org/151220/spoetnoobdev.jpg

I just found out about all this Bitcoin stuff 2/3 days ago but[...]
I already quit my job and have a prepaid my web hoster for my site 1 month in advance.
So i am dedicated to making this coin great for small miners and various projects i have planned.

::)

You quit your job to do full time on this?  My respects!  Out of so many alt coins, only Litecoin seems to have made it, the rest such as Namecoin, Devcoin etc are still trying.  Do you have any family burdens etc?

ya there is a retard tied in the basement somewhere but "it's" easy to deal with i just gotta throw some garbage down there to keep it fed..

and may people quit there jobs to do the alt coin thing i know a guy at cryptsy who said he did just that actually.

This ain't no Bro-Coin !!

I dont thing Big Vern will do a runner.
He is way to big a public figure now. The Justice department will sue him before he can pull the plug.

Their strategy now is to earn more and get some of the stolen bitcoin back. Stolen because it makes no sense to
1) review EVERY withdrawal
2) increase the fees higher then any other exhanged on the market

Cryptsy 2 ? www.bitebi9.com

Looks like cryptsy to me as well, must share a lot of the technology base. But why flee to China 'if' there has been any corporate wrong doing? The UK is a much safer haven for such people. In the US they get prosecuted, in China they get beheaded. In the UK they get a peerage.

It's a bit of a shame that the cryptsy ship looks to be sinking. It was a great place for being able to dump any crap coin. Basically, if it ain't listed it ain't got a blockchain. I have to say I haven't had any problems with small non-BTC withdrawals myself, but will be leaving my exchange account flat for now. I just wonder what exchange to use instead that has a large selection of altcoins and liquidity. I prefer to use an exchange as an exchange, and store coins in my own wallets. I want to be able to deposit and withdraw small amounts quickly.

With all the waves surrounding this sinking ship, valuating a portfolio is a bit of a waste of time. If a coin can be withdrawn from cryptsy it is high there and suppressed somewhere else. Some people are happy to take a loss to get out what they can. Which of course is better than losing the lot if the ships hole cannot be repaired.

Seeing this makes me want to deposit some coins so I can join in on the fun... lol jk

Or maybe they gave my account coins that do not belong to me AGAIN. ahaha..

hi guys. just found this thread.

i've had only 2.3 btc pending for 5 days now. im honestly not really interested in who in this thread does what unless you can send me the pending withdraw.

...luckily im not dying and in need of it right this second. (which is why i've been patient for the past few days, ever after being banned from the chat for asking about btc withdraw, and i guess so have many others)

however i am taking this serious, and in interest of self preservation/financial stability, and the same for the community who is missing their coins right now, i contacted a lawyer, and

he said he'd gladly start a class action lawsuit, and has already taken paul vernon to court before.

he told me to get everyone together who has their money "stuck" in cryptsy with no valid explanation, and he'd be more than happy to help everyone.

Silver Law Group

so go ahead, if you have a legit email and account on cryptsy, dont have the btc or usd you tried to withdraw, and add your name to a list in this thread, or contact them directly.

It looks like what could have been a great leading crypto exchange has been tarnished by the apparition of a system problem. Even if their team of talented programmers can resolve the issue soon, the loss of faith will severely dent their user base. Nobody will loose a satoshi though, as crypto's are not a fractional reserve banking system. Every bit of clients funds will be accounted for somewhere.

It's wrong yeah. They were once the biggest and morest reputable altcoin exchange. Now they are nothing of that anymore.
Just irritating their users with broken wallets, high fees etc.

I'm glad I got out, not happy about the 40% hit I took to get my BTC.  I will NEVER go back there.

HippieTech, When I first was on here my account was hacked due to a RAT I picked up.  I have never posted a link with a virus, and the links that were posted when my account was hacked have been removed.  The people here on BCT were great to help me with the issue.

That is funny hippietech i google mapped it and i use to live not far from him in the 90's
i still have family a few miles from, 265 Nottawasaga Street

at first i couldn't recall where that was it rang a bell (i lived in East Canada)
i figured it woudl be a suburb of greater Toronto.. nope.
It's way more north.. not even close.
So yeah you can't say it was close enough etc.

edit:
Invalid whois phone number too.. that site can be taken down quick LOL

edit2:

Google Maps - Horus's House (https://encrypted.google.com/maps/place/265+Nottawasaga+St,+Orillia,+ON+L3V+3K5,+Canada/@44.6066292,-79.4326179,3a,30y,170.71h,81.1t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1s49tm29oDgrCjFzTonOBuBw!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo3.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3D49tm29oDgrCjFzTonOBuBw%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dsearch.TACTILE.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D86%26h%3D86%26yaw%3D151.57523%26pitch%3D0!7i13312!8i6656!4m2!3m1!1s0x4d2aa934595a4901:0xba6e086124634f0b!6m1!1e1?hl=en)

Hmmm
That is one small house !
Is that his silver SUV ?
At least he has an AC box on the side but damn you gotta do some work on the house it's getting run down bro !

What are the odds that you, Horus and Crusty could have so much in common with regards to your past and present living arrangements ?

edit

For those not in the know, I have long suspected that Horus and Crusty (Crestington) are muddafudda.

If I'm right... our southeast Asia travellin Crestington aka. "me" is in fact "mee/meee" (NETcoin's dev) AND Meeh.

So much hate against cryptsy.. damn.
Offcourse I understand that waiting for your OWN money is terrible, but looking at this, seems that cryptsy is about to be over.
I can't see they survive this (financial) trouble with investors

Financial troubles aren't that hard to recover from... it's the reputation troubles that kill a business.

Over in this craptsycoin smeared corner we have Netcoin. On September 2 2013, it was ninja launched and thoroughly easymined before it finally made it over to Bitcointalk.

*I do not trust this forum. Use these links at your own risk.

4 minutes after asking for a subforum, "Jimmy" delivers. (just as BitJohn did for another noob off the street.. more on that later. ;) )

And by the way how is me posting a BunnyCoin topic related to me sending PM's ?
And how does this all have any link to the topic here ?
Notice the link i posted has nothing to do with it either.. you're Trolling around leaving turds hahahha

If it walks like a fascist vegaphoebic shitler luvin craptsy "back room boy" ... and it talks like a fascist vegaphoebic shitler luvin "back room boy" ... ::)

The Bunnycoin launch.. just 3 days after Vlad's ..
I just found out about all this Bitcoin stuff 2/3 days ago but[...]
I already quit my job and have a prepaid my web hoster for my site 1 month in advance.
So i am dedicated to making this coin great for small miners and various projects i have planned.

.. Nuggetcoin launch..

<snip>

Now I can give you guys a breakdown of what VGB is - as it was intended to give the smaller miner an edge, relatively speaking, on a % basis.

<snip>

So then each Golden Block, instead of being worth the normal 49 coins (every 70 seconds) will be worth just over 205 Blocks, hence the name the Vlad Golden Block which means if you hit just one Golden Block you will be instantly rewarded over 10,000 coins, a massive difference from just 49 coins.  That's a huge amount of coins if you're an average or small miner - it would be like literally owning the entire network all to yourself for 4 hours and hitting every single 49 coin block again and again, and if you compare that to the 10 minute block times of Bitcoin, it would be like owning the whole network and hitting every single block for nearly a full day and a half.  That is a lot of power in the hands of any small miner and it can literally push any small miner to the next level.

It's a clear and fair break for everyone but especially for the small miner, this kind of Golden Block hit, over 10,000 coins would be a big deal and on a relative basis, this could help a small miner more quickly upgrade to a much better rig while at the same time these Vlad Golden Blocks don't exclude anyone as big miners have an equal chance of hitting them too although for the big guy 10,000 coins would not make such a big deal as to the small guy, which is why I said this was a fair protocol but would benefit the small guy more.

Here's the info to get started so let's see who gets that first Vlad Golden Block first.

Good luck!

<snip>

Bear with me guys, 3 months ago I didn't know what a bitcoin was and it took me 3 days just to be able to start mining Litecoin while working at it 16 hours per day.

So the last days I have been working on creation of a website to replace the current site and cloning of the Clams chain. With the blockparser I am able to take complete snapshots of balances, there are approximately 1000 addresses with more than 1 CON in each address so building a new chain and pruning off excess Blocks won't be that big of a challenge once complete. I still think it will take approximately a week or so for the website and probably atleast a few weeks for me to get familiar with the codebase.

wtf does the CLAM blockchain have to to with this ?

Go do something productive with your time, I remember once upon a time you trying to get your pal Mudda to code you your own shitcoin,

VEGANCOIN! Cmon everyone! let's buy some VEGANCOIN!!!!11!!!!1

What a fucking joke. Can you imagine you being in charge of any Coin? Would have burnt to the ground in minutes by your own poisonous attitude.

Your efforts to twist and hide the truth have failed once again... Crusty... dare I say, muddafudda aka me, mee and very likely Meeh.

He initially offered me a "freebee" in exchange for a 40-50 block premine.

I backed out after realizing the potential damage I might help to cause and that he was lining me up for everything that Zack has unfortunately had to endure. Namely the extortion like tactics he has used to make the candygirls/devs pay for their client updates and forks.

WAT !?

Are you saying that you'll set me up with a coin ?! GTFO ! lol

I now present to you ! VEGANcoin ! ;D  VEG LMAO

Being the veg-aphoebic carnivore with the teeth of a jack ass, that he is, mudder didn't like my name and theme selection. LOL

Hey Crusty.. you're one of those too ! If you really aren't mudda (and thats a really big IF), you guys should start a club !

Why not ? ahha

Vegans are one of the biggest untapped markets out there. lol

I'm assuming that you are not aware of the vegan revolution that has been quietly brewing ? ;D

The super blocks will also payout free tofu. :P

If I was to look.. how many of Stakeminer's coins will end up getting traced back to YOU aka. me ? (very likely mee and/or meeh and/or muddafudda aka. memecoin)

@all
Fyi.. my hippie sense first began to tingle two days prior to mudder's grande offer when Vlad2Vlad hired me to open a BTCLTCdotCOM account and make some COL/LTC trades. I figured that he/they were tossing me some bait or testing me out and thus why I played along.

We'll get into that later if /when it becomes neccessary.

Do people know you're Memecoin ? I noticed that zachclark doesn't. hehe

I should have mentioned this last night . . VladVlad gave me 50.7 LTC to spend at BTCLTC because he doesn't wanna deal with translating Chinese. hah..

I still have 40+ LTC. Plz let me know if you're willing to part with anything more.

You are associating based upon a sided conversation that identifies the user as "me", also everything is you quoting yourself so I don't understand where you are drawing your conclusions from, lol

a community organized bounty... hmm, intriguing. But, if by some crazy off chance the worst happens and the code is cracked(not likely but who knows), how would you enforce distribution of the bounty? I mean i could say i would give thousands, but can you make me give it up? Also, if the code was cracked... wouldn't that person want btc because they probably wouldn't want a chunk of a faulty coin at that moment. know what i mean?

Ok Let's see what the community can come up with and what form it will ultimately take shape in.You have good points. The Bounty should be in BTC and held at a central place. . With a start and finish date. A finish date let's say. Decentralization implementation

And if not claimed it goes straight to paying for server running costs after Decentralization as a donation from the community

What do you guys and girls think.

I no have BTC.
I can add + 25 000 Nav to bounty pool.
I prefer pay bounty in NAV anyway because if somebody crack system better be send discretion details to Dev Team not for public for fix issue first. But I think its not possible to break the annon but anyway I no have BTC and no want sell nav for btc at this low price.
So add my + 25 000 Nav to bounty if you want.

Ask the people who were scammed by mscollec's SYNC if this donation drive sounds familiar.

After that.. ask pakage how he learned to be such a skilled coder in such a relatively short period of time.

Should the wallet just auto sync when I open it up? Or is there a button i need to press / option i need to check?

All things seem to point to Bitjohn as the lucky7 dev - aka JLong187.  He is from the UK and I'm working on tracking him down.

tip : muddafudda aka. Paul Vernon or BitJohn or Horus or Crestington or KeyserSozeMC, was responsible for 99% of those early PoS coins. Most of those were Cryptogenic Bullion clones.

re: [ANN][DASH] Dash

Has Mullick "the wallet manager" been doxed ?

Is he Paul Vernon's sock or simply a useful idiot/ patsy/scapegoat ?

Yes, see -> https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicholas-mullesch-46b5a784

Cryptsy.com is an Internet startup operated by Project Investors, Inc. focusing on the exchange of Crypto-Currency commonly known as “BitCoin” and it's derivatives. Cryptsy currently services more than 300 different types of crypto-currency.

The Cryptsy.com exchange opened on May 20th, 2013 and since then has seen rapid growth in both customer base and trade volume. Cryptsy currently has over 300k registered users with a volume of over 150k trades per day.

My responsibilities at cryptsy grew from a summer internship to Head of IT and Director of Crypto Currency over 2 years while the company grew. I maintained the network, infrastructure and operating systems for the entire production network which was up to 50 physical machines and even more virtual machines. I coordinated and implemented a point of presence in Boston, Ma as well as implemented new security standards across our entire infrastructure.

I was also responsible for maintaining the "Hot" wallets for the company. Three hundred resource intensive applications requiring maximum up time and security. These applications were storing millions of dollars worth of customers funds and needed to process up to 1.5 million requests per day from the frontend servers. This required me to design a completely new infrastructure. Starting at hardware selection, all the way to installation, configuration and deployment. The infrastructure included 12 physical machines and 300 virtual machines. In the year since it was implemented in January 2015 it has seen 100 Terabytes of external network traffic, 75 Petabytes of disk writes and has processed over 650,000 customer withdrawals of crypto currencies.

All this time I thought he was just a trollbox mod. haha

This high school must have one helluva IT program or everything in that quote was dictated to him.

Has anyone looked at Johnny Long for jlong187. He's an accomplished professional penetration tester who has used the following handles: jlong188, j0hnny, j0hnnyhax. He would have the appropriate skills for the job.

Here's his wikipedia page - notice the books that he's contributed to:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Long

I like to arrange a pool of suspects and then eliminate them one by one generally. Now, he runs a charity for kids in Uganda, which although I find very strange - he may very well be a modern Mother Theresa. So, I'm not going to accuse him outright, but to me this is who I would look into.

Now here's where it gets slightly more interesting when we look at the transaction list for this address.

And the very first deposit into this address came from this really strange address: https://bitcoinchain.com/block_explorer/address/1poF5rg55dhJAGJbUf97nfLTgtfJgPAwX/11

That thing looks like a mixer of some sort.

I know most of you have lost some money, but don't expecty anything from the bounty.
This Big Vern guy is a smart guy who now is giving out pocket money to walk away with the big bucks.

I've got no doubt this money will be lost forever too.
This things tend to go like that. It's sad this kind of things only exist so massive in the bitcoin world.

Since I received a lovely scammer tag from a scammer over the next few weeks I will be revealing every little bit of juicy goss that I came to know in the last 6 months.

I will expose everyone and leave no stone unturned.

Special thanks to Hippie_tech.

My suggestions if you have something to hide, contact Hippie_tech and get him to remove the scammer tag.

You have all been warned.
