Title: Small fortune, now which country ?
Post by: pfrtlpfmpf on May 27, 2017, 01:37:25 AM
Guys, i made a small fortune in altcoin/bitcoin. In which country should i settle ?
I have no wife, no kids, just a girlfriend, iŽm free to go wherever i want (sheŽll go with me).
But it has to be a bitcoin-friendly country.
I have no intention to buy lambos, just a peaceful life.
Thanks.

Oh, and my age is 53, that makes a difference too.

Philippines.

Get a beach house, or live in the city, or get a few acres of land ... Put a wall around it. Hire security or bodyguards.
When you have kids, hire a nanny for each. Send them to private schools.
Cash out in 2 or 3 major exchanges, or make it a daily routine to sell to locals.

But, don't do drugs.

A relatively large 3 to 5 bedroom, 2 or 3 car garage home, with a swimming pool, in a gated community will set you back about 10 to 20 million pesos, or 200k USD to 400k USD.

*edit* at 53, expect to live to maybe 83 ? so that's 30 years. You better have at least 1000 BTC (at today's prices) if you want to be comfortable without too much additional work. Get a token job for income tax purposes, but usually the government will leave you alone if you blend in.

That's 3 BTC per month for 30 years, more or less. Don't exceed that budget. You wouldn't unless you do something stupid. Just be smart about it. As a foreigner, you might spend more on local food (coconuts?) but just tip the waiters an extra 10~15% and you will get excellent service most of the time.

All gas stations are full-service, by the way. You can't gas the car yourself, they won't let you. Hire a chauffeur / driver for $300 USD per month. Double that amount if he acts as armed bodyguard.

I don't have a specific recommendation but, moving to a country needs more consideration than being a bitcoin friendly country, you need to take into consideration, the stability of the region, the costs of living, security, climate, lifestyle, language, traditions, taxes, the laws  and a lot of other factors.

Italy or Spain. The weather is good. Europe in general is Bitcoin friendly.
If you retire to the country side, you can lead a peaceful life.

I'd suggest Chile. But be aware most regions are exposed to earthquakes. Chile sums up being cryptocurrencies friendly, educated people, temperate weather, pretty safe and economy goes very well.

If you really have to go somewhere, probably Thailand or some similar east-Asian country where everything is super cheap. The Philippines might also be a cool place to go but I don't know of any people that have been in those communities specifically, so I have no idea what life is like there. I know some people who have talked about it, but they never really followed through with anything related to that.
Good luck I guess. Probably some of the better countries to retire in.

"Economy going well" is important, because then they donŽt want money from me !

That is a complex decision.  At the Zero Hedge threads, I always recommended anyone considering another country go there for AT LEAST EIGHT WEEKS to thoroughly check it out.  Perfect the language (or start learning it).  Eating the food (would yr gf like it too).  Would you want Americans around or not?  Would you miss American stuff (bookstores, a real drawback that would keep me from moving to Peru, my "Plan B Country", my wife is Peruvian, we are on a visit now).  Talk to local lawyers during your 8 weeks plus.

I would recommend further trips, probably also to visit other candidate countries.  Take your time.

I think Oceania is a good place to live, but I don't know if people there wants foreigners moving themselves to their countries. New Zealand seems a nice place, Australia too, and they are Bitcoin friendly as I know.

As you have money, you can choose where to go, congratulations, you are free to choose your destiny, don't listen only people here, but go to where you think it will be good for you... Check some nice places, read about them.

Go somewhere there is no tax on property, so that you actually own it instead of renting it from the government for the rest of your life.

does such a land exist?

is it only N.Korea, Iran & Syria?

I would also advise to rent for at least 6 months to see if you can deal with the locals wherever you may choose, before buying anything!!

S.E.Asia is ok but the english is very limited. A lot of places here have populations with a deepseated hatred for success, effort, individualism etc.

Im looking at South America & Southern Europe until i can afford a dormant volcano on antarctica.

It depends on you, you could go anywhere where you want to, right? But if you do really want to go somewhere where you could make more fortune in the cryptocurrencies, then I suggest you to go to Japan, because they have already accepted bitcoin as a currency on their country. But I could say that all of the countries around the world do know about bitcoin, it's just that not all of them already did what Japan did to bitcoin.

But we're on our way to that, I'm sure of that, all we have to do is to continuously support bitcoin no matter what, even though in its DOWN or in its UP, we just have to hold and keep on saving bitcoin.

if you have a good fortune in bitcoin, what about going in a country that see bitcoin like a currency? japan australia they are regulating pretty well bitcoin, you can try to live there, japan is a wonderful place

it's not tax free, but if you have a fortune you should not be worried about tax, the good thing is that you can get rid of fiat there

As peace is the main concern, you could try to settle in the western nation mainly on Netherlands where the out of city location were good for a best village living experience along with peace. If you plan of making a living in the Asian countries, then try to find a place in the Brunei.

The problem with third world nations such as Indonesia is that the laws and regulations regarding Bitcoins are not clearly defined. Even if the current administration is sympathetic to Bitcoin users, there is no guarantee that the situation will not change in the near future.

I will suggest you to go in the Japan  , because in the Japan it is fully legalised and we don't need to worry much about it , because most of the shops in the Japan will accept Bitcoin and easy to deal with Bitcoin .
But here I would like to suggest you to sell online because selling in the online is not a big thing , you just need to sell it at the LBC exchange , at LBC you can found any type of the deals that you want make .

Here I am really surprised that your age is 53 year and still.you have a gf , well here I will suggest you to make deals with only those persons who have trust 100% at he localsBitcoins.com .

Some in Asian countries have good support for bitcoin. Asia is currently developing by maximizing bitcoin to be used officially.
Asia became a pioneer for other countries around the world to start applying bitcoin.

Yeah , but still here I would like to suggest to sell first and then go in the country where he want to go .
Here I don't understand why the OP want to sell in the other foreign countries , perhaps he has the facility to sold his Bitcoin at online .
I mean he can sell at localbitcoins.com and also in the coinbase , and if he is from.the india then also can sell at zebpay which is easy to sell and handle his money .
And also he can directly change into the doller at the exchange sites and then  can use in any ways with his PayPal account .
With this here I will suggest to the OP that don't sell his all the altcoin and Bitcoin earnings , he should hold for the year , because the price will surely jump for every altcoin  and also specially for Bitcoin .

I am recommending Philippines, You can settle in the philippines, cost of living there is cheap and there are many tourist spot. I am betting your girlfriend will love living in the Philippines. It is also a bitcoin friendly though not everyone knows Bitcoin but many people there are using Bitcoin. And if you really are going to the Philippines then i recommend changing your Bitcoin wallet to coins.ph. The price of Bitcoin in the Philippines if you will convert to philippine pesos is 140k+ and that is already a lot to spend for many months.

I am not from Japan but seeing the development in that country better to go in that country and settle it so that if you are going to do business in cryptocurrency you will be free from tax and it is legal their so you dont have to worry about it. 25% of you stock convert it to fiat currency and buy a house and some usefull things in life and then balance keep in bank and what ever you are going to earn in interest enjoy with it balance 75% crypto currency you can do daily small trading and enjoy in that . Give your girl what ever she wants and keep her happy

South East Asia is the best place to settle. Lots of islands and BTC friendly countries. I once traveled through most of the countries in Asia and I would recommend all of them. The country which I personally loved is Bhutan, literally the best nature and environment in the world, food is amazing and a romantic weather. What else do you need to settle?

In Spain people with foreign money can have a good standard of live. The level of english is one of the worst of Europe, nobody older than you will know any word of English and young people will be able to speak some. You will not be able to pay anything directly with bitcóines, only there is la calle bitcoin in Madrid but there are some cajeros bitcoin (arround 7000) https://www.territoriobitcoin.com/mapa-de-cajeros-automaticos-de-bitcoin-en-espana/ . I think if you are having a "small fortune" with these digital currencies, I think it is better to live in China, or maybe Japan, but I prefer Japan, great people there, bitcoin friendly and you can live peaceful life like how you've wanted it. And I think, for me, that is a great choice, not having luxurious things which is a dream to most of the people even they are at your age. Good luck finding a country, just hope that you will be having a  great place to live with your girlfriend.

Scandinavia and in particular Norway. Gorgeous nature, English fluency is pretty common nationwide, not too many people around and not a lot of foreigners either.

Or Canada. Again gorgeous nature and nice people in general I think. Avoid the big cities and settle down in some rural picturesque place.

Good luck!

P.S. I don't know why you would want to go in Asia. Yes the adventure ahead might sound exciting but consider all the negatives like diseases, overcrowded mega cities, questionable local law and criminal rate (possibility to get kidnapped), health care etc.

All gas stations are full-service, by the way. You can't gas the car yourself, they won't let you. Hire a chauffeur / driver for $300 USD per month. Double that amount if he acts as armed bodyguard.

Guys, i made a small fortune in altcoin/bitcoin. In which country should i settle ?
I have no wife, no kids, just a girlfriend, iŽm free to go wherever i want (sheŽll go with me).

Choose Philippines as it's bitcoin friendly country and cost of living here isn't expensive thus it's good to live here if you're pensioned.

In Spain people with foreign money can have a good standard of live. The level of english is one of the worst of Europe, nobody of your age will know any word of englsih and young people will be able to speak some. You will not be able to pay anything directly with bitcóines, only there is la calle bitcoin in Madrid but there are some cajeros bitcoin (arround 7000) https://www.groupbtc.com/es/cajeros. Considerate Catalonia

https://www.surfingtheplanet.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/11-Calella-de-Palafrugell.jpg

I can learn spanish ?  But its Europe, they will need money. Mine ?

I wanted to say that people with foreign money usually can have a good standard of live.
You can learn spanish, catalan or even basque, why not?

You can set your peace life in Japan where it is a beautiful country and a lot of beautiful women too and i think you can find you potential wife there and it is also bitcoin friendly because there government already accept bitcoin for the stores there and also a lot shops there accepted bitcoin so it will be easy for you to settle your life there.

It may be a bitcoin friendly place, and it costs cheap, but you need to pay attention to the safety of this place, in fact, this country is going to war, they are being terrorized by the IS. This is a bad thing for a country, but they are facing. So, this place is no longer a good choice, think carefully. Please think it again!

Well first you should tell us how much you made in Bitcoin/ altcoins that you are willing to leave your country ? Secondly why cant you stay in your own country and enjoy the peaceful life there ? If converting bitcoin into fiat is a problem in your country, you can find many online conversions which can give you USD from bitcoins and then to can convert USD into your local currency.

There are plenty of factors to consider, not it being friendly to bitcoin is just one. The weather, location, government and people. How foreigners are viewed etc.... if I had to pick I'll choose Canada, Australia and maybe Sweden or Norway if was able to obtain residence there.

Because Dabs is from the Philippines that's why he recommend his country. Have you been in the Philippines before? Muslim extremist are far from the Metropolis of the Philippines. The recent news of some Isis wannabee will end soon plus Philippines has a lot of beautiful places and friendly people and bitcoin friendly country. You generalized the country without seeing it first hand. Even some Japanese retiree settled in the Philippines and lived a peaceful life.

I guess you don't know who I am. Everyone who replied about this country lives there. I live there.

It's not as dangerous as it is portrayed in international news, but you still have to be careful. You also never have to learn Tagalog (although it would also be wise to learn a local language), everyone speaks English.

It's not "wrong" it's just different. There's at least one bitcoin forum member who is a real life USD millionaire who lives in the Philippines. The developer of 8chan lives in the Philippines. There are dozens of villages or communities of high net worth individuals living here. The world's biggest shopping malls are here; the "Mall of Asia" is bigger than the "Mall of America".

We have cable TV, HBO, Cinemax. Movies are shown at the same time or date as that in the US. It's $2 USD per movie anywhere, $5~8 for 3D IMAX if that's your thing.

World famous Boracay beach is here; there are literally dozens of "undiscovered" paradise islands and beaches here.

You can hire a maid for $100 USD per month; get two. You can hire a uniformed security guard who does nothing but open your door and your gate when you get home for $300 a month.

Again, on 2 to 3 BTC per month, you're pretty much living like a king. (Depends on what you really want to do.)

As for politics, well, my family is known by the current President, so I don't have to worry about anything for the next 5 years. Fringe benefits. (Not to mention I am in the military, so both police and military leave me alone.)

Negatives: horrible traffic, hot weather, political instability, volcanic eruptions, floods, storms, tropical typhoons, ... the list goes on. But overall, we like it here.

Note: I am not an employee of this forum. I'm just a moderator. I don't consider being paid $20 USD a month for part time work as being "employed".

I've been to Japan, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, United States, Canada. My siblings and parents have been to Europe (Spain, Italy, Vatican City), Russia, Thailand, Singapore. And probably some other places I don't recall at the moment.

One single country? Why settling down?

How about several places in several different countries? The problem with settling down is that you will need to get some permanent residency visa, which often means tax obligations, proof of income and various legal requirements. If you're a perpetual traveler like me, you don't pay tax anywhere.

How much can you spend on property? What kind of weather do you wish? Regarding cost of living, how much can you spend a month? Do you want to drive a big car? Do you play golf? Do you want to be on the seaside? There are so many things to consider...

The previous writers have had good points.

Peaceful, stabile countries:  Scandinavia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan.

Though the stability in Europe may get weak or even random, if the Asylum seekers etc. will continue their march to North. That may also cause some need for money, and soon the governments know that you have a fortune to share with ;)

About Canada I have heard a little bit similar rumours....

My situation is not so easy/straightforward as yours, but still also I have thought to change the country. I have always thought that New Zealand is the safiest country (in the case of nuclear wars, epidemics etc). I might consider it ... or Japan.

...hey ... there are vulcanos in the both countries :(

*** restart plan B ***

Canada is good. They welcome everyone, and if you really need to take a quick short trip you can probably go to the United States. You still need to apply for permanent residence if you intend to stay longer than 6 months.

You should check out Belize. There are some cool places to live within the country, and it's only a 2.5-hour flight from the states. I would recommend Ambergris Caye for that island life. There are a good group of expats here, and it's bitcoin-friendly. Well, there's only really about a dozen of us that use Bitcoin, but I've got some people (myself included) that will purchase your bitcoin from you, as you need the cash. If you're serious about checking out Belize to live in, then check out this page: https://belize.paradiseguy.com/moving-to-belize (the site is still under development, so check back often!)

Let me know if you have any questions by PMing me. Serious, Belize is pretty awesome! I moved here from California 9 years ago, and haven't been back since :)

If I was in your position I'd choose either Japan or Singapore.  They do have a high cost of living, but they are very well developed.  Singapore is better for warmer climate and more English speaking people.  I'd use one of those countries as a base renting for 6 months, then go on holiday/vacation to different destinations around SE Asia for a few weeks at a time to experience life there.  Then decide where you want to settle.  Personally, I'd visit - Bangkok, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Shanghai, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur and Manila.  Just to experience life there.  I'm sure after 6 months you'd make a decision on where to settle.

How about in Bali, Indonesia? This city is bitcoin friendly and there are many visitors from various countries, mostly you can use English. If you want to stay for a while, then this is a good destination. You said that you are in Southeast Asia, is it this country?

Italy or Spain. The weather is good. Europe in general is Bitcoin friendly.
If you retire to the country side, you can lead a peaceful life.
Good luck finding a place to stay in Spain,it is bloody expensive and it is not that easy to find a home to stay and even if you plan on staying at a rented house it will take time to get a good place to crash and even getting a bed space is considered a lucky and i do have a bad experience finding a place being an expat.

I suggest you to go to Japan, because they have already accepted bitcoin as a currency on their country. But I could say that all of the countries around the world do know about bitcoin, it's just that not all of them already did what Japan did to bitcoin.
Japan is yet another country which is bloody expensive and he really wants a peaceful calm life but it is really difficult to get that in Japan with my experience.

I would suggest Dubai is a good place for expats ,no tax nothing, unlike other Arab countries you have your freedom and it is a spectacle ,it is expensive but you could manage to find a budget home and so is the case with Switzerland, which i personally liked the place but did not stay long and Canada is also a place where you could find good counties with large farms where you can spend your retirement life. :)

It will be a lot of choice because there are many people here. But I believe that the place I am staying at this time is the best place. The best thing is to live in the country where you were born and also where your ancestors are. It's the hometown that always makes everyone want to come back. You do not need another place, you just have to stay where you are born.

New Zealand is the country which promised to shelter Kim Dotcom in return for $10 million in funds, right? So that country may be a good choice. But the tax rates (both income tax and capital gains tax) are a bit on the higher side.

What about Switzerland, after all?

Yes, it may be expensive somewhat but if you want a peaceful life (a really peaceful one with no bodyguards, gated communities and similar shit), that would be an ideal place with top-notch healthcare, friendly people (Asians will despise you anyway if you are not one of them), working laws, and clean environment. If you settle in a small town or village and manage to make friends with people around you, I guess you can substantially lower your expenses and save a lot on the unnecessary things like those mentioned in parentheses above. It may help to add a poll to the thread as well

I think the country is not your main issue. The main issue is how to transfer your BTC into legal flows without paying too much taxes or answering too much questions. After that it s just a question of finding the best combination of warm beach, good health services and safe country.

So glad to hear these success stories, please keep us posted what s your decision.

It will be a lot of choice because there are many people here. But I believe that the place I am staying at this time is the best place. The best thing is to live in the country where you were born and also where your ancestors are. It's the hometown that always makes everyone want to come back. You do not need another place, you just have to stay where you are born.

YouŽre so right, god (whichever) bless you. but i have no family to speak of,, and of all negatives that may endure, iŽm free ! I said, iŽm 53, but that may be a game changer as well.

I won't recommend any country for you mate, since is has been mentioned above by several posters. I just wish you luck you find the right country that you are looking for and live the life you and your fiancee have been dreaming of. And yeah, just keep us posted and maybe you can meet other bitcoiners on the country that you are going to settle.

Before you settle in somewhere, you should know the place. Visit it a few times, interact with locals, see if you re happy there.

If you want a peaceful and easy going life, I would suggest a Greek island. Not the famous/big ones, there are around 200 inhabited islands in Greece. Also, property prices are very low now because of the crisis and people speak English well. You won't have to learn Greek!

If you need more info let me know :)

One thing you have to keep in mind is that the cost of living may increase over time as the countries get wealthier.

The same happened in the spanish islands. A lot of germans retired there (e.g. Mallorca), but after 20 years, the islands caught up to the main land in terms of daily cost of living. The result was that a lot of these retirees got financial problems, had to sell their houses and move back to germany and a small appartment.

That is something you want to avoid I guess.

Go to Switzerland and settle there, they have the highest HDMI rating in the world and so you can live for really long in that country without problems and all the major troubles in the world.

Canada is good. They welcome everyone, and if you really need to take a quick short trip you can probably go to the United States. You still need to apply for permanent residence if you intend to stay longer than 6 months.
Canada is the best. They legalized mostly every positive thing on this planet such as supporting weed, cannabis for both medical and entertainment. Bitcoin will be the next revolution in this country

Yes canada is one of the best country because of the positive things that you may find to their country and they almost positive for the every potential that you can propose to the government. I think it is possible for the bitcoin to be accepted or legalized in canada also or soon it will be accepted by mostly stores or any shop there.

YouŽre thinking forward, i like that. ItŽll be a no name island, definitely. Slightly rougher sand on the beach, but peace !

Oh, one thing i learned: never settle on a small island, i got my fair share of power outs, and water shortages . . .

Exactly that happened to me, i got on one of the most sought after islands (for business) in asia, and i donŽt know why i should pay tourist-prices everywhere i go ! In Retirement.

Well you can head to Japan, it's legal out there. It has rich heritage culture, plus it's a good tourist place if you can set up some business. Honestly you are a lucky guy, at the age of 53 a girlfriend, some of us are yet struggling to get their first lol and others are yet waiting for their first Bitcoins 😁. Well I feel Japan should suit all your needs, it's technology, it's adaptable to global technology so I feel you will do good there. Good luck with your future life and I am sure many will. Be jealous of your story.

Considerate Catalonia

https://www.surfingtheplanet.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/11-Calella-de-Palafrugell.jpg

I'm also from Spain.

My advice: Run away of Spain as fast as you can. The same for Europe.
It's a tax hell, full of migrants. Catalonia is even worse, full of corrupt politicians (as the rest of Spain), a independentist government (inestability) marxist/socialist filling their beautiful country with islamic guettos.

I'll consider, Switzerland, Canada or New Zealand. Australia it's also a good place, but I don't like the climate.

Stay away of tropic regions of the planet if you want to be safe. Get a map and see the countries.

Japan might be a good spot to live in, but if you don't know, 2 consecutive natural disasters happened in Japan, first is the tsunami that almost brought down Japan, and the second one which is the recent one is the earthquake that breaks many streets at Japan. Though I still recommend Japan, the people there are great and so damn kind, their services are good and they are used to foreigners visiting their country.

In all sincerity, at that age I don't want to be like you, because I would actually close to seeing my grand kids by that age. That being said, I would suggest Africa because cost of living is quite low but be careful to go with one where security is guaranteed and no one to start looking into your activities by the time they see you are a foreigner not going to work but just spending and living large which will mostly likely be beyond those around. Also, consider where your skill might be needed in other not to get bored staying at home all the time.

Definitely Serbia, for global standards here everything is very very cheap, but quality of everything is on a very high level. Beautiful country, nature, food, parties, lakes, rivers, many sources of healthy water, everyone who comes here enjoy! Check it out on internet! Month ago, couple from Germany bought a land and they building a nice house on a hill with a view on a city. Big yard, house with elevator and all in woof and stones will cost around 150 000 dollars.

I think that canada is the best place to live and use bitcoin, people have used bitcoin for a long time, even they use it in their daily life.

Australia and japan have good tax regolation for BTC, Europan and Canada too are freindly witch BTC.
Australia and Japan is so expensive, if u want work here there is a lot of opportunity, if u don't want work i suggest europe becouse is very cheap in front of Japan or Australia... Italy Spain and Portugal can be good choice but in the country u need try the right place for u lifestile Holland, Germany and Crotia too are cheap but if u want live like a king u can think a place like Greek or Hungary. If u  prefer and Island u can think about Cyprus ( a bit exepensive then rest of europe but all talk english), Canaria Island is very cheap too, i think Malta too can be a good choice.

He said a small fortune... if he can spend 3 BTC per month he sure can go to a better country than Philippines which looks like a perfect place to get one of those exotic diseases... no thanks, I dont want to be constantly paranoid about killer mosquitoes.

Pretty sure there are better countries in Europe if you can afford to spend 6.440 USD a month (who the hell does that?)

Stay away from Serbia (and it is in Europe too, just in case)

It is one of the most corrupted countries in that part of the world, so the locals will quickly strip you off of your money. You will have to bribe everyone who has any authority over virtually anything. Nobody will do anything for you without you first oiling hand. In fact, all Balkan countries are like that. It is your choice, after all, but if you are really serious about your peaceful and hasslefree future, Switzerland is likely the only rational choice (and maybe, New Zealand, though I'm not sure about those evil mosquitoes there). The only reason against it (apart from personal prejudices) could be purely financial one, it is an expensive country overall

I'll go with the suggestion of Dabs. I myself am planning to buy my own house and lot here in the Philippines considering the cheap amount of real estate in here. $50k dollars would land you a 2 bedroom house near the metros, $400-$500k would get you a nice villa, 4 bedrooms, 2 storey house with a nice swimming pool. Plus, everything is cheap. $50 could feed 50 people 1 value meal in a fastfood chain.

Settling down and living your life would be best in a cheap country with world class tourist places. Philippines would be nice, the people are generally good and everyone will treat you special.

Oh and btw, if you want you can get a franchise of a famous fastfood chain in here for only $400k ;)

At Dabs,

Please don't advertise how cheapstake it is here in the Philippines.
There's too much of this foreigners in here already who exploit this country.
And yes, the other poster is almost correct in his thinking that this country is like Thailand.

It's not cheap if you live in Forbes Park, or Ayala Alabang Village ($1m million dollar homes); or stay in any of the high end hotels. Like any other country, you have options.

It seems he has excluded the PH and prefers some other country.

However, I do recommend you try a 2 or 3 week vacation.

Corruption , unemployment , poor infrastructure disastrous healthcare.
You're far better of with Croatia and Slovenia.

And Croatia is by far more attractive. The Dalmatian coast is pure beauty Serbia has little to show compared.

First, congratulations on your bitcoin profit.
You would need to decide the climate, environment, western or eastern etc... first. These are usually the main factors people look upon when thinking about relocating, since you already have money, it doesn't matter if the VISA allow you to work or not, so...
I would go with a european country like Sweden and Norway, or Canada who is positive for everything.

What is your current citizenship?  If it is US recall the requirement of paying taxes on worldwide income (or the "exit tax" if you renounce). As someone mentioned above, consider Puerto Rico due to the tax laws for gains for US citizens who are residents.  It also depends on what you consider "a small fortune" - double digit millions, single digit millions, hundreds of thousands. And if you intend to realize gains over time or in a single year or over a decade for example.

One option would be to realize the gains while a PR resident, then travel or move somewhere thereafter.

Here is a bit about it:

OP needs to answer at least two questions:

1. Citizenship and legal or residency status in any other country, (do you have a green card or it's equivalent)
2. How much is your bitcoin stash? No need to give exact amount, just an idea. 100? 1000? Can you buy a pizza? (10k)? Do you have more bitcoins than Roger Ver claims? (300k) ?

Sorry but who would want to go to a country on the brink of civil war with the guy in charge threatening everyday with martial law?

It's easy to hide from the government when they're busy running after other bad guys. (Plus we're friends with the guy in charge.)

Thanks.

Lol, Philippines is over, europe and africa as well. Australia (to expensive). But "Serbia" sounds interesting, is it EU ? Well, judging by his post its not the first financing the EU.

I think the other options considered in this thread are better (Italy, Spain, Portugal). Nice weather, great food, and yes taxes are higher, but if you go to a place like Switzerland, they may not rape you with taxes, but they will rape you with high cost of living. Canada is also too expensive.

All those asian countries are out of the picture for me to be honest. If I ever get rich from BTC (1 BTC would need to hit 6 figures) I will not go there. You are probably a constant target by being non native.

What about some cheaper EE countries like Czech Republic? the weather may not be as good as south europe, but it's still a reasonably safe place, and I think it can be cheap to live, and the girls are beautiful. Not sure about how much taxes you would pay with BTC tho.

Oh, and my age is 53, that makes a difference too.

This sounds like a really bad relationship strategy. She will be spoiled as **** if you cater to every wish of your gf  ;D

I second the motion for the Philippines. I maybe biased since this is my country but we are one of the most foreigner-friendly countries there is in the whole world and we can speak English well so there is no big communication challenge at all. There are many places you can visit here and probably stay for good like a retiree. Beautiful places, beautiful people, beautiful weather, nice foods, nice smiles...and you can use your Bitcoin here.

Just pick a good place, You don't need to spend your life in an uninhabited island because it's the most bitcoin-friendly nation in the world, don't go to Russia too. Just pick a good EU country and build a farm house or an apartment in a metropolis, Your pick :)

selecting EU country is good choice that OP can do and i think its a good idea to build a farm house with a new family and we lived there. just enjoy your day with your profit, make a new profit while you are busy with your family, spend your life with the family. its all of my dreams in the future. but i think you should have more than 10k bitcoin to enjoy your life without fearing about anything and if you need the money, you can cash out your bitcoin to buy something.

Would say Philippines but having a place that is near the mountains so you can escape the worst of the monsoon season is best, albeit there is landslide risk Baguio is likely a nice area to be if you just want to relax.
That or Canada that is very Bitcoin friendly could be a snowbird between the two.

Regardless, it's better to avoid countries under dictatorships because the tax rules and the allowed/disallowed are decided on whims, I would either choose Canada or Australlia, both accept immigrants very leniently and have good level of civilization, natural sceneries and good governmental systems.

- Good weather all year due to microclimates.
- It belongs to the European Union: great stability and safety.
- Very cheap flights to and from Spain for residents: you can go on holidays to the Balear Islands (Mallorca, Ibiza...), Barcelona, Seville, etc. for a good price.
- Very touristic, there live lots of foreigners (British, French, German, American...).
- Special tax system.
- Great natural, cultural, leisure and gastronomic offer.

Take a look at it, it deserves a little research  ::)

Edit: at least, it would be my choice if I was economically independent.

If you are after the tropics, then Southeast Asia should be the best place but the hot weather can sometimes be a bit too unbearable. Also, stay away from war conflicted regions or areas where safety is a big issue, although they are very near tourist destinations. If you have enough bitcoin, you can even set up your own business, like most foreigners do when they settle in a foreign land.

if you are intending to retire completely and won't be seeking any jobs in the country you are going to then there are plenty of options, from the cheaper places in Southern America where a "small fortune" is sufficient for an excellent residence and life style to the more expensive European and Canadian Styles... Most of these countries - South America and Canada - might give permission easier than European countries.

I agree with you that living in the Philippines is cheap and compared to the first world countries you can live your life in this country without spending too much. Even just your payouts from the signature campaign can already feed you three times a day and can pay your rent in a boarding house. As long as you stay simple Philippines is the best choice.

the op has no interest in answering these questions. i think he's an amateur geographer who enjoys collecting opinions about countries around the world.

He doesn't have to answer it publicly in this forum or any other. These are questions he should ask himself.

So far he has implied less than pizza money (10k), but with more than 1000 BTC you can figure out where to live, while taking vacations one country to another every 3 to 5 months (don't stay longer than 6 months, and you probably are not allowed to anyway.)

Perhaps make it a goal: A list of countries to explore. Visit every wonder of the world, ancient and modern.

Everyone else who keeps saying Philippines, OP has already ruled it out. Yes we love our own country, but let him choose where he wants to go.

the op has no interest in answering these questions. i think he's an amateur geographer who enjoys collecting opinions about countries around the world.

He doesn't have to answer it publicly in this forum or any other. These are questions he should ask himself.

He should have come up with a contingency plan, and I think he just likes any idea for a last moment of choices and besides OP really wants to settle it in a peaceful place with his girlfriend, and just like you said sir Dabs a list of countries he might want to explore first is a best idea and I think a first hand experience with the beautiful places on the world is a must done,

Thanks.

I agree with you that living in the Philippines is cheap and compared to the first world countries you can live your life in this country without spending too much. Even just your payouts from the signature campaign can already feed you three times a day and can pay your rent in a boarding house. As long as you stay simple Philippines is the best choice.

Although living conditions are good here, low spending and friendly bitcoin, the country is no longer peaceful. They are facing the risk of war, recently they have been terrorized, which makes their country no longer a safe country, this country should not be proposed.

Japan may be a decent spot to live in, yet in the event that you don't have the foggiest idea, 2 back to back catastrophic events occurred in Japan, first is the torrent that nearly cut down Japan, and the second one which is the current one is the tremor that breaks numerous boulevards at Japan. In spite of the fact that regardless I suggest Japan, the general population there are incredible thus damn kind, their administrations are great and they are utilized to nonnatives going by their nation

  Barcelona

You can't go wrong with Barcelona. I'll be visiting this glorious city for the second time next month and I can say it has everything you'll ever need.

Beaches = Top notch plus no sharks
Weed = Legal in cafés
Drink = Good ol' Sangria is still rocking people's socks off
Girls = The best
Night Life = You bet
Wanna calm lifestyle = Just get a house a few miles away from the center.
Natural Beatuies = Awesome

Negatives;

A bit pricey as they use EURO currency but won't matter for you since you are already rich.

You don't have to live here you know. We only proposed it because we actually do. It's as safe as you make it, just like anywhere else. You shouldn't really rely on government for anything. I count at least half a million people, who have net worth above a million dollars each, living here. Everyone else is either middle class or in poverty, but that's not something you can fix easily.

Any country that risks war with us, risks a long and protracted war. We kicked out everyone who ever wanted to colonize us. Although there was a Japanese soldier that was living in the mountains who thought WW2 was not over for about 30 years.

I will suggest Australia, its very peaceful and the indigenous people there live for a long time. They age on the average about 80 before death and so you'll have your peace of mind over there while you live out the rest of your life.

To actually retire from BTC and live in a good 1st world country or so, you would at least require a million dollar or more, around 500 BTC with a BTC price of $2000, and even with that it would hardly be a life of luxury... Anyhow I would choose Canada considering how good the community, weather, people, everything else compared even to Europe and US.

Australia and japan have great assessment regolation for BTC, Europan and Canada too are freindly witch BTC. Australia and Japan is so costly, if u need work here there is a considerable measure of chance, if u don't need work i propose europe becouse is extremely shoddy before Japan or Australia... Italy Spain and Portugal can be great decision yet in the nation u require attempt the ideal place for u lifestile Holland, Germany and Crotia too are modest however in the event that u need live like a lord u can think a place like Greek or Hungary. In the event that u lean toward and Island u can consider Cyprus

And evil mosquitoes (and whatever else could be hiding and waiting there)

There is another aspect which you didn't make particularly clear, i.e. which kind of life you actually need. You said you are 53, this is indeed not the same as 23 (though this is still less extreme than the other extreme) but it is not 83 either (the other extreme). Basically, at 53 people can lead a rather shameless (or should I really say shameful?) life provided they are healthy overall, which is not rare at that age. So what do you mean by peaceful life actually?

Oh, and my age is 53, that makes a difference too.

You need to do some traveling around the world to experience different cultures and environments and see how you feel.  Regardless of what anyone recommends here, different places around the world suit different people.

Are you willing to learn a new language?  If not, that will narrow your potential countries greatly.

Having traveled to 18 countries so far, I would likely choose Bali.  But I personally wouldn't choose a place to "settle".  If you prefer something else in the future, why restrict yourself to a single place?

Having some property is ok. You can rent it and make money from it. If you are the one paying the rent you are ultimately losing money.

If you have the money then just buy some property in some touristic place and you'll have passive income. Traveling is overrated anyway, unless you have 100+ million and you are going to be stressed about traveling expenses and paying rents everywhere.

welp, don't know where but, definitely NOT Turkey. Not that you'd consider though. Just a reminder.

30 years ago, i traveled to Turkey, with the intention to live there. Boy, am i happy to have decided against it ! Which shows: donŽt get to rooted, this world is changing all the time. With money you can stay free !

Turkey was alright 30 years ago. (even 15 years ago) It was like an eastern European country at worst. It was not fully well but we were getting used to live a civilized life.

All went to hell after the elected government of 2002. They (sadly we) became a complete puppet of USA and radical islamism spread everywhere like a virus.

Turkey is devolving just like it happened to Iran. The majority ( full morons ) has no problems with that. While i seek ways to get out of this hell (I have high hopes with bitcoin), if anybody is thinking about having a life here, there simply isn't one -anymore.

Congratulations. If I were you at that age because I am much younger than you, I would go together with my girlfriend in Cambodia. You can rent a house for a month for 20 USD there so with a bitcoin fortune you can live your dream retirement there. Get a house near the beach and enjoy the rest of your life without too much worries. Food is not the best but it depends on anyone taste. If I had the money although I am used to better food here in Italy I would definitely go there.

Why not stay and live in your country? By moving into another country you are just incurring additional cost from purchasing your ticket, fixing residency, building a house. Also not having a Bitcoin-friendly country is not a problem as you can always convert it to Fiat which has more use as of today. Generally if Bitcoin gets a lot of demand then maybe businesses in your country will soon accept Bitcoin. The small fortune you have right now must be used in investment or on how you plan to have a retirement fund. Think about the future not where you want to live because it is Bitcoin friendly.

Try Canada too. A little bit more laid back. Guns aren't allowed to be carried in Canada, but you can own them. In the US you can get a carry permit or just carry openly depending on state.

I think that way, you don't really need armed security, but that's how I think. Regardless of country, I will find a way to arm myself or hire someone to do that, while trying to stay within their legal framework.

Actually, that's just me thinking. Most expats don't need armed security, but I guess I am more paranoid than others. There is a term called NPE or "Non Permissive Environment". Anyway, this is off topic. I believe the UK doesn't like guns too much.

As for lifestyle, yeah, I was spoiled that way in my younger years. When I got married, I got one nanny for each kid, I have 2 toddlers. My parents are semi-retired but they have two maids (one acts as the chef) and two drivers. The maids live in the house, the drivers go home at the end of the day.

You will need to consider facts like legal aspects of the country (make sure the country is safe for immigrants), taxation (tax heaven country would be the best in this regard so even if bitcoin receives legal recognition, you will be safe), third one is accessibility of the funds (I am sure you won't cash out all of your crypto funds so make sure that the country has bitcoin ATMs and has large number of merchants accepting bitcoins or at least moving in that direction).

Germany can be a good place to travel, however, this country is really bitcoin friendly. OP is talking about where he can live and work with bitcoin.

With no doubt, you could get settled in Japan as it has even announced bitcoin as legal payment. So you could easily see your day to day needs completed with bitcoin.Second choice could be European union where bitcoin transactions were even given exemption from VAT(value added tax).Australia could also be considered as a third choice since it is also bitcoin friendly.

Personally I would retire somewhere in SE Asia, and will do this one day. Thailand or Vietnam but thats because Ive been there so many times and speak the language, know my way around. If you dont have this than first go there on holiday a few years in a row to figure out what suits you best. I would never buy land/house/condo but just rent. This way I have no strings attached, what if they build a large condo project next door? No way, I will move around. Thailand has significant more luxery/confienance over other "poor" SE Asian countries. Its more evolved if you wish. Streets with lights, better sidewalks and last but not least bigger western expat communities. Correct me if I am wrong but in Vietnam the banks give great % interest in saving accounts. If you live modest you can "retire/live from the intest" with just as little as 100k/150k USD on the bank. I couldnt myself (I cant live modest) but I know its possible.

That said, I read someone advice you to keep the bitcoins and go live on that from month to month. I dont know if this is smart. Maybe cash abit in and put in a bank. Spread the money on multiple banks for safety.

Find a tax haven like Singapore?
The problem with places like that is that most of the time are small islands so you will need to get used to hot weather and to big storms and also even though you may be tempted to live there because of the low or null income tax, the cost of living there can be quite high.

Must have been a huge fortune. I will advise you move to South Korea. So far so good, this is the best bitcoin friendly country. Infact, there exchange rate is higher than the global world. Setup something for yourself, invest and not just rely on the value of bitcoin and live a good life. I am sure you will love it there. Japan is another good place. Nevertheless, if you just want to rely on what you have presently, like a retirement stuff, just move to an island and enjoy yourself till papa calls!

I have my potential wife already, thanks. But after Bhutan iŽll look into Japan as well, but learning japanese wasnŽt really on (or Bhutanese) the top of my list !
But well, you have to adapt somehow  :)
You dont need to learn Bhutanese to live in Bhutan. Tourism is main industry of Bhutan and majority of the population can speak English pretty fluently.

It will be a lot of choice because there are many people here. But I believe that the place I am staying at this time is the best place. The best thing is to live in the country where you were born and also where your ancestors are. It's the hometown that always makes everyone want to come back. You do not need another place, you just have to stay where you are born.

Lol, i asked an impossible question. From spain, over canada, singapure, switzerland, philippines, belize, and what not, i got everything.
I guess, iŽll have to start up my own two synapses  :)
I guess, people can provide u better suggestion if u quantify your fortune in terms of BTC, provide your GF's age and let us know if u plan to have children or adopt at any point of time in future.

I will not give you a particular country for you to choose from but I can guide you to choose for a perfect country to choose. You need to choose a country base on your taste that is if you want some adventure, laws that govern that country, the nice places to go on an adventure and so on.

that is very right. for example to visit, south Africa and have adventure in safari park. I think your fortune will be with you anywhere you go. you can only change it with hard work and struggle in some cases other wise what have written in your fortune will happen to you.

Exactly once. in fact now there are some States that have a chance to make the bitcoin is larger and has a current turnover or Exchange is very high. One that could've ascertained is Japanese, in the country starting in the bitcoin believes. But indeed they all have limitations, so that its growth is not up at the point of maximum exposure and experience a good stability. But it all is not a problem, because we will certainly get a lot of benefit from it all

Double that amount if he acts as armed bodyguard.

im from philippines and i am glad that sir dabs have manage to endorse our country..

I will also like to live in Japan because the state have legalized bitcoin and my all job is with bitcoin.

With respect, I don't think the Philippines is the most stable place right now with such an unpredictable leader.

I would suggest somewhere in Europe. Portugal, Italy or Spain. If you want to go off the beaten track then somewhere away from the big cities in Morocco would also be a good option. Beautiful weather, warm and friendly people and politically stable. Also some of the best hashish in the world  ;D

If you have the funds then you could always buy a place in southern Spain and another place in Morocco, then buy a boat so you can sail between the two places at your own leisure.

Yes, all his bitcoins will go a long way here. He better choose the place he'll settle wisely though. No no for Mindanao, that's the worst place to settle if you look foreign. Many expats buy properties in the Visayas, it's their idea of island living. Still, this place has now started to become a target for Islamists. Northern Luzon is farther from all this mess but then you'd have to worry about the typhoons coming in.

But i realize, i asked an impossible question, without listing all my exact priorities, as everybody looks for very different things in a country.
I got nearly every country around the world suggested, except the north- and southpole  :)
One thing is for sure, no more freezing, i need sun !

I'd too want a peaceful life if I had a respectable Bitcoin stash and I'm pretty sure where I'd live it. However my advice to you is check the Global Peace Index (http://visionofhumanity.org/indexes/global-peace-index/) which is pretty much spot on this year.

Philippines was a big suggestion here as far as I could see, but being cheap isn't everything. I would too definitely cross off my list a country where you'd even have to consider a body guard if you have a big stash.

I'm pretty sure you could also live a peaceful life in remote parts or even in the "wilderness" of less safe countries, with the negative parts that those kinds of experiences entail.

And no, it is not in Switzerland (and neither is it in Sweden). If you need sun, you may literally get it all day long and even at night (though I'm not sure about no more freezing). Tourism (should I add an extreme variety thereof?) seems to be one their main industries, so it should be pretty cheap. And they have what's called the Global Seed Vault which is a seed bank to store plant seeds for a rainy day. You may want to visit it as well

Oh, and my age is 53, that makes a difference too.

Depend on the quantity of your small fortune, Spain is a good option. You can buy a good house close to the beach and Barcelona city a good prices and if you have possibilites buy a small flat to rent (the prices are increasing so much, you can have a good extra-salary with the rent in future).

And if you continuos increasing your fortune allways can go to Andorra (less 3 hours from Barcelona) and save your money in this country (the taxes are cheaper).

Other important think with your age it's the public health is free in Spain or really cheap.

Well from the look of things it seems he's looking for a specific place to settle and not necessarily moving around like you've suggested so I will suggest he move to settle in a Bitcoin friendly country and I think we have majority of them in Europe or he can choose to move to Japan or North America.

Thats a good option if the fortune is enough to retire on in a rich country because Switzerland is an extremely expensive place to live in plus you need several millions to get a permanent visa there as an investor. In reality its much easier to get long term visas in poorer countries than it is rich ones plus its much cheaper to get by in those countries. I would suggeset SE Asia like Thailand or the Philippines because at the end of the day its easy to cash out of bitcoin regardless of where you live in the world.

It would still be cool to see the Vault though, at least once. I suppose the aurora is also visible there.

Malaysia, is fine then.Thailand and Vietnam, I have not much idea. But for me what is left to choose is Indonesia and Philippines. Both countries are very active in cryptocurrencies / bitcoin.

Once you convert BTC or any crypto fo FIAT you need to pay the TAX.

if you have at least 1 million dollar, then you would most likely be able to move to a first-world high class traveller country like Spain, Italy and one of those styles of countries, if less then something like Thailand and Malaysia are options, Australia if you could is a great choice.

Maybe O/P should drop along some more hints that those of us responding could sink our teeth into...:

1)  How much traveling he's done?  And to where?
2)  More on his gf's ideas
3)  Languages he speaks (or his very willing to learn, not easy)
4)  Food likes/dislikes
5)  Cultural likes/dislikes
6)  Pet peeves (see changing money example of mine below)

I am in ITALY now.  The food is great, but no A/C in the hot summer (and there is a heat wave in N. Italy now, 98 degrees F (high) the past few days).

I had a LOT of trouble changing dollars for euros this morning (most banks will not), had to go to their POST OFFICE, take a number and wait...  I  been to Italy several times, but sometimes it takes a lot of time and energy to do simple things in the USA.

if you have at least 1 million dollar, then you would most likely be able to move to a first-world high class traveller country like Spain, Italy and one of those styles of countries, if less then something like Thailand and Malaysia are options, Australia if you could is a great choice.

Why would somebody like to move there they tax everything and the taxes are really high.
Higher the taxes smaller your freedom gets.

Singapore is the best choice if you want to live comfortable, tax free and very friendly to the immigrants, but of course you have to have money for life, good security and stability, and lots of entertainment there

What you mean by tax free?!
If you convert BTC or any other ctypto to FIAT you don't need to pay taxes there or what?!

Well, that fee is very small and I do not think that it is an important issue. Moreover, you can use bitcoin for many purposes without converting it into fiat

Lest suppose you want buy a house or condo in that country which i think it costs a lost because the space is limited there
you would for sure require minimum of 250K USD for a small condo.

That means you would have to convert your crypto to FIAT to be able to buy that flat.
So can you give an estimation how much tax would a foreign citizen pay there to convert that crypto to FIAT
and even if possible how this process would be done?!

I heard that switzerland has become a bitcoin friendly country. So you could settle there as its full of tourist spots.Or else, you could try an european country which provides tax exemption for bitcoins.

Which one would that be?!
Once you convert BTC or any crypto fo FIAT you need to pay the TAX

You seem to be obsessed with taxes

Or should I actually write TAXES? What taxes do you refer to exactly? In many jurisdictions, you may not need to pay taxes on selling bitcoins, especially if bitcoins are not regulated there (just in case, it doesn't mean that Bitcoin is illegal in that jurisdiction). If it is not regulated, you can safely assume it as being your property, and property may not be taxed if you possessed it for some time (say, 3 years). In practice, you move your coins to a reputable exchange, convert them to fiat (dollars or euro), and withdraw the proceeds to your bank account. And that's pretty much all there's to it

Could you transfer to FIAT, never tell the IRS and get away with it?  It is pretty likely, if done right, but is that the way to go?  The future of Bitcoin is set by these first couple thousand people and their actions.  Your future is defined by these actions.  These things can come back to haunt you and the Bitcoin community.

The question is not about the IRS here

The OP is moving out of the United States, so he is evidently not going to pay US taxes. Further, the question is not about evading taxes as such, it is about not paying them legally (well, more or less). Other than that, the wealthy elites have been avoiding paying taxes for literally ages, and I haven't heard that many of them are massively haunted by "these things" (whatever you might mean by that)

Can't really make a suggestion unless know the approximate amount or value of the bitcoins you are holding now, it will be very different if it's 3000 or 100 bitcoins, if it's something on the high-end I would say either some island country or a luxurious place in Canada or Australia, And both of them are friendly to  bitcoins, Otherwise Far east countries are both interesting tourist spots and friendly to bitcoins.

Regulated or not, you have to pay taxes after having sold Bitcoin for local currency. I have personally looked into this matter when I was going to sell coins and withdraw to my bank account and yes I have to include Bitcoin in my income tax form. I think Bitcoin is subject to Capital Gains Tax but I am not an expert on this. However I am 101% positive that you have to pay tax when selling for local currency.
If you have been selling Bitcoin and haven't reported anything to the tax agency I would suggest consulting a tax attorney or something before landing yourself in hot water.

I believe US citizens have to pay US taxes regardless of where they are in the world. I was told the only way to avoid them if by renouncing their citizenship.

Wow, what a fortunate place to be! Congratulations.

I have more questions for you:

  • How much proximity do you need to people or a major city?
  • Will you be leaving your wealth in Bitcoin and alt coins, living off of it directly (or buying fiat as needed)?
  • If you leave your wealth in the crypto-currency and the market drops for a prolonged period of time, what will be your rescue net or plan? Will you go back to work? If so, what do you do?

A country with a lower cost of living (either generally or at least lower than the country you live in) is a smart starting point. You can immediately increase the spending value of your wealth or the ability to live in the upper class with this one cost of living arbitrage consideration.

SE Asia is relatively cheap, tropical, and exotic (presuming you don't already live in that area!) New Zealand is beautiful, everyone is friendly, and it'll be easier for you to live off the grid a bit. Eastern Europe will find you lower cost of living (than Europe) but with proximity of much of the culture, market, and urban life that Europe offers.

If I were you, I'd want to find a good, safe, and very comfortable spot to call home and then do a lot of travel to see family and the world. If you're in NZ, you're a long way from everywhere. IF you're in one of the major continents you'll have an easier time traveling to more locations.

Last thing, you should start a blog so newbies can live vicariously through you and to bring awareness to bitcoin!

As far as I know, there are very large taxes in the United States of America, but the whole point is that these taxes are paid by people not in vain. For those people who conscientiously pay taxes to the treasury of the state, in time they receive bonuses or even a refund of money with interest. I know this from the true citizens of America.

That is correct.  And even renouncing results in an exit tax.  The authoritarian fascists/socialists/communists need other people's money to buy votes.

In some jurisdictions profits earned on currency exchange operations are not taxable, and its official. Further, if Bitcoin is treated like property (or property rights), you may look for tax exemption. Again, in many jurisdictions if you held some property for longer than one year (in some parts of the world longer than three years on expensive items like houses or apartments), you don't have to pay a capital gains tax. Technically, you still have to pay it but you receive a tax deduction which equals the price at which you sold this property, so effectively you don't pay this tax

If you have been selling Bitcoin and haven't reported anything to the tax agency I would suggest consulting a tax attorney or something before landing yourself in hot water

I don't need that. My tax service officially declared that they have nothing to do with Bitcoin

The future of Bitcoin depends on the users themselves, that is, from us. Since to date Bitcoin is an object of speculation, and only a speculative market can raise it, you need to think about a more realistic future. Namely, the implementation of Bitcoin. Only then can we have guarantees even in the legal sense.

Not a bad idea. I'm living in an area where there are no traders and most people haven't heard of cryptocurrencies. It's not a bad idea to put myself on the map and wait for them to start coming like moths to a flame once bitcoin goes up some more. With $5000 prices no media outlet will remain silent about it, it's already on the news and people are baffled. "we thought this was a pyramid back in 2013, hasn't it collapsed yet?" ;D

Lets not forget that the first time most people heard Bitcoin it was mixed with either the single criminal laundering a large amount of money and being arrested or the entire Silk Road mess, basically the same thing.  Let's tow the line and make sure that we give the government fewer reasons, not more reasons, to push Bitcoin away.

You will have to wait a very long time. If you are around nobody knows what bitcoin is, then your services for a very long time anyone don't will need. Probably better to start with what teach people how to make bitcoins, and then everything else.

Come over to Australia!!

It's is amazing over here. Weather is great. Life is peaceful. Jobs are plentiful. And it is Bitcoin-friendly. The one problem that you may face is the housing market, especially in Sydney and Melbourne. It is over 1 million for a 2 bedroom house in a nice and tranquil area. But other than that, it is great over here.

Currency exchange operations are not taxed in Russia

And this is not some theoretical "knowledge". I habitually buy and sell US dollars via my regular bank account. This is basically the same "buy low sell high" scheme, though I mostly hedge again possible currency devaluation. And the capital gains thus earned are not taxed. If I'm not mistaken, there is a special provision in the laws regulating currency exchange operations which stipulates that buying (selling) currency on a given day higher (lower) than the official exchange rate set by the Central Bank of Russia for that day basically frees it from taxation (which is almost always the case). Regarding Bitcoin specifically, I posted a link to the official letter of the Russian Tax Service as of November 2016 where they make it extremely clear that they consider Bitcoin as a sort of foreign currency and as such it is not their business altogether
