Title: Claim Your Bitcoin Cash Balance and Exchange into Bitcoins
Post by: BitcoinReseller on August 10, 2017, 02:25:39 PM
Hello everyone,

I notice some people still don't know how to claim their bitcoin cash which are created by the fork and what to do with them.

I will explain here step by step how to claim your bitcoin cash doubled balance and how to exchange them into bitcoins.

this is what i did for my balance, so i will explain here how this happens.

i will use empty wallet as example in my explanation.

First Step : Check How Much Bitcoin Cash You Have

Visit this page (Blockchair) :

https://1ink.cc/xVle (https://1ink.cc/xVle)

Write your wallet address to see how much bitcoin cash available on it.
https://s18.postimg.cc/9c0dybxjt/help1.jpg

click on search, you will see 2 results. one for Bitcoin and other for Bitcoin Cash.
https://s18.postimg.cc/om0950l6x/help2.jpg

from Bitcoin Cash results, click on Bitcoin Cash Address to see details about your wallet.
You will see in this page :
Total unspent (balance)    AAAAA BCC

in my example :
Total unspent (balance)    0.03981931 BCC*
https://s18.postimg.cc/qqkm63ujd/help3.jpg

Second Step : Claim Your Bitcoin Cash Balance

You will need any bitcoin cash wallet, i used Electron wallet to get my balance. but you can use any other wallet for bitcoin cash.

You can download Electron cash wallet from here :
https://1ink.cc/Z3cMC (https://1ink.cc/Z3cMC)

Open wallet app, it will ask you to create new bitcoin cash wallet :
- Where to save it
- Set password

https://s18.postimg.cc/3p410dabd/help4.jpg
You can keep all as default, and click next.

You will see your new wallet is empty, with empty history.
You can see History, Send, Receive
in my example there are some transactions are already done before i write this topic.

https://s18.postimg.cc/vcgqehaxl/help5.jpg

To import your bitcoin cash wallet address and transfer funds into your wallet app, you will need Private Key for your bitcoin cash wallet which is same to bitcoin wallet private key.

If you don't have private keys for your bitcoin wallet, you should contact your wallet service provider for how to get private key for it.

Now, after getting private key for your bitcoin wallet, which is same to bitcoin cash, you have to sweep it into your Electron wallet.

Click on Wallet > Private Keys > Sweep

https://s18.postimg.cc/545lp6j55/help6.jpg

Write private key for your wallet, and click on Sweep.

https://s18.postimg.cc/w1ziqxbi1/help7.jpg

If your wallet has many inputs, it may takes some seconds to 1 minute till it complete balance transfer.
Elecrton app transfer 100 inputs max per sweep.
if your wallet has more than 100 inputs (as like 400 inputs) you will need to sweep it (same private key) 3 or 4 times to transfer all fund on it.
You will need to wait for payment transaction confirmation for each sweep.

After sweeping wallet, you will get confirmation message with amount that is credited to your wallet app.
Click on Broadcast to confirm it.
https://s18.postimg.cc/oyrnbbli1/help8.jpg

New confirmation with transaction id will appear, press ok.
https://s18.postimg.cc/oyrnbcgd5/help9.jpg

Now you can see new payment is received to your bitcoin cash wallet
https://s18.postimg.cc/b53ambax5/help10.jpg

wait until it gets one confirmation at least to be able to send it into Bittrex site if you want to exchange it into Bitcoins.

Last Step : Exchange Bitcoin Cash (BCC) into Bitcoin (BTC)

I used bittrex.com to sell my bitcoin cash and exchange with bitcoins.

you can create account on bittrex from here :
https://1ink.cc/eCh (http://1ink.cc/eCh)

Signup, confirm account and click on Wallets to see your balances and make Bitcoin Cash Deposit on Bittrex site.

https://s18.postimg.cc/4emtcwimh/help13.jpg

Copy deposit address for your Bitcoin Cash.
https://s18.postimg.cc/9dabrg9kp/help14.jpg

Important : Make sure you are making Bitcoin Cash (BCC) deposit, not classic bitcoin. else your deposit will be lost.

Open Electron wallet again (after payment get confirmed) and send new bitcoin cash payment into bittrex.
https://s18.postimg.cc/om095clah/help15.jpg

Wait for your deposit to get confirmed on Bittrex.
https://s18.postimg.cc/jalcknend/help16.jpg

You can see when it will be confirmed from Pending Deposits panel on Wallets page (at bittrex).
then need 20 confirmations at this time. you can see how much confirmations your deposit gets in this menu (pending deposits).

After your deposit is confirmed and credited into your Available Bitcoin Cash on bittrex. you are able to sell them into bitcoins now.

To sell your Bitcoin Cash with bitcoins click on Bittrex logo to visit markets page.
pick BTC-BCC market to start your exchange.
https://s18.postimg.cc/b53amiszd/help11.jpg

from this panel : Sell Bitcoin Cash
write the amount you want to sell, you can click on Max to sell all your bitcoin cash balance.
Price, enter the amount you agree to sell with, if you want to get buyers immediately change price from menu and set to Last.
and click on Sell Bitcoin Cash.
make sure that minimum is 0.005 btc.

https://s18.postimg.cc/6j76e72bd/help12.jpg

once your exchange is complete, you will be able to withdraw your bitcoins again into your bitcoin wallet.
to do this, click on Wallets > Bitcoins > [-]

https://s18.postimg.cc/yw2o4ob6x/help17.jpg

white your Bitcoin wallet address to withdraw your exchanged fund and get the profits from your bitcoin cash.
there is 0.001 btc withdraw fee from bittrex for transaction confirmation.

https://s18.postimg.cc/4re7jbljd/help18.jpg

hope this was helpful, if you get any problem please post your question here and i will reply it when i have time.

Good luck everyone, enjoy your extra bitcoin rewards  :D

Thanks for the tutorial. My question is: Does Bittrex generate a new deposit address once you send the coins? Because I want to keep my privacy by sending BTC separately in different batches, and for that I need the exchange to generate new receiving addresses each time.

This is I haven't done this yet, it will take a lot of time for me to send all the coins separately, and I haven't even found an exchange that doesn't keep giving me the same deposit address each time yet.

No way im sending all of my bitcoin in a single address.

They have, in fact I did send all of my Bitcoin Cash there because it is really a hassle finding another exchange site that will be giving me a good bitcoin cash wallet also, Bittrex is a trusted site so I think I don't really need to find another site. Though after the fork, their Bitcoin Cash Address was under maintenance the reason I've waited for almost a whole day.

there is absolutely no reason for including shortened urls in this. why would you even do it?

also with electron cash you do two things that i prefer differently:
1. the wallet creation:
which is best to be done on a completely separate and isolated machine. so that you cut its access to your main machine and files, specially if you have Electrum installed.
(also preferably compile from repo not download the binaries)

2. the wallet import,
you don't need to first sweep and then send. just make a new wallet and instead of letting it generate seed, select "i have private keys" and import them directly and spend those.
you will save up on precious time and money since blocks are slow still and you have to pay fees twice.

yes maybe you're right about additional steps i did (as like sweep), but actually i show here the steps i followed personally.

i agree maybe if you import keys at the beginning you won't need to sweep wallet.
however, sweeping wallets is required if you have more than one wallet include bitcoin cash.

thanks for your tip

Thanks, in that case I will not even bother with Bittrex. I will need to find any other exchange that allows you to maintain privacy. Not that I was going to bother anyway. Bittrex has now limited new accounts to 0.025 BTC withdraws unless you send them all kinds of personal information which is nonsense. I want to trade crypto to another crypto, why they need to know my real name, address, place of birth etc.. it's ridiculous. I don't trust a crypto exchange with my personal info at all.

Thank you so much for the detailed tutorial. I think many of the beginners needed this kind of steps. I too heard that Bittrex did this ridiculous limit to all the accounts and it will definitely affect them.

Interesting. When did you create this account?

Back then, it used to be "unlimited", then "1337 BTC", in reality both of these were a 3 digit limit I think, they just set these funny numbers for a joke. These are now called "legacy accounts" and bittrex plans to delete them as in making them regular accounts so watch out for that.

Then I Heard it was 3 BTC, then 1 BTC, now im hearing 0.025 BTC.

I tried a while ago, and it was 1 BTC AND it required address, place of birth and other stuff in order to get verified to trade even crypto to crypto which is indeed nuts.

Hi I am new to this
Followed all your instructions and managed to get my BCC and transferred it to Bittrex but found my btc was sent from my bitcoin wallet at the same time. Would like to know if I have lost these totally or if I can retrieve it somehow as I have just lost roughly £80 in BTC for £8 in BCC.

Hi, I had 0.5 btc on blockchain.info wallet before the fork. When I do the first step to check balance it says no result found for either btc or bch... Am I doing something wrong?

Hi
I have not had any reply to my earlier post regarding loosing my bitcoin following using this step by step guide I know my bitcoin went to the following address. 164hXP8g8B2GU6dMoxbYvPnm8KLt8YpVGx
When I searched this address found it had more bitcoin than I lost so I believe it may have been stolen. Would appreciate any advice on what I can do about retrieving my bitcoin.

maybe 164hXP8g8B2GU6dMoxbYvPnm8KLt8YpVGx is your address on electron wallet app.

Hi
I setup an electron wallet for bitcoincash but transferred that to Bittrex as your guide now I have the bitcoin cash left in bittrex and the electron wallet is empty also my bitcoin org wallet is empty I did download an electron bitcoin wallet to try the addresses but no luck also I did put the electron wallets on a different computer to the bitcoin org wallet to stop conflict. When I transferred the bitcoin cash to Bittrex the bitcoin went from my original wallet at the same time with exactly the same confirmations as the bitcoin cash.

do you mean funds transferred into your electron wallet? then you did bittrex deposit?

you can check all your generated wallets on electron from Wallet > Private Key > Export.

it will print you text file includes all generated address and their private keys.

Hi
Cannot find the address in my wallet but when I look for this address on blockchair it shows that their is 0.1187628 BTC which does not belong to me but it says 0.02629122 is in the mempool which I believe is my bitcoin which was transferred to this address from my bitcoin core wallet when I transferred my bcc to bittrex from my new electron wallet. Looked at all my wallets and cannot find any reference to this address except from the trasaction of it being sent from my wallet.
Would be gratefull for any advice about if it is possible to get my bitcoins back.

I swept my BCC to the Electron Cash wallet, but when I go to send it to the exchange it asks for a password, which I never set up.  I tried 0000 and 1234 as defaults as well as leaving it blank, but nothing works.  What gives, I can't even export the private keys without this password I never set up??

Unfortunately I was too late at withdrawing my Bitcoins from the other exchange.
Now I lost my chance to get free money from this Bitcoin Cash airdrop. :(
Oh well, maybe next time.
Thank you for posting this to help others, OP! :)

if you don't set password try to keep it empty.
i set easy password and i do remember it without problems.

i don't understand where is your problem exactly, as long as you was able to get bcc and invest them into bittrex.
and how btc and bcc can has same transaction id after the fork? i guess there is something wrong.

The problem is I have had my bitcoins stolen following this step by step guide as it allowed someone to access my private key It should have prioritised securing the bitcoins first.

Beware using this guide as Bitcoins get stolen.

Bitcoins a Joke :

Cannot spend them.
Every time you transfer them trade or make transactions they are reduced.
Difficult to change back to real money.
They are a free for all for anybody wishing to steel them as nothing can be done or the people behind it do not want to do anything about it as they are making the rewards from it.

Tried it got burnt finished

GOOD BY

Sadly, i had only a very small amount of BTC when the fork happened :( I don't care to get them converted cause it seems to be too much of a hassle to do so atm. So i just let them sit there and watch what happens. Must have been nice though for those big BTC bagholders  ::)

nice tutorial but you didnt mention that this electron cash its not safe at all
also you didnt mention that do not install electron cash in the same PC that running Electrum wallet

Quote
The person who distributes the Electron Cash binaries has decided to
remain anonymous, and uses the fake name "Jonald Fyookball" in order
to sign Electron Cash binaries. Thus, if these binaries contain code
that is designed to steal your bitcoins, the author of the theft will
be anonymous and walk away safely with your funds.

i try your tutorial before i found this warnings
anyway i cant sweep my private key , my PC stop responding and thank god i try with an address that have 0.001BCC

i download the electron cash from the official website can you please tell me how to uninstall this electron cash ??

Hello everyone,

Hi BitcoinReseller,

When I set up the wallet, I entered the private key (Step use public or private keys). When the wallet is opened, bcc counterpart is displayed in mbcc. Then the uncorfirmed writing came out. Then it was transferred to an address. I did not send any. Bccs were played? I downloaded the wallet from the link you gave me. Before installing the wallet, bcc was here on blockchair.com. It does not look right now. It went 1.49 bcc. :(

I did what I did wrong.

@krc
make sure that you have anti-virus. or maybe you got hacked by someone.
Electron wallet app and Bittrex are working very fine with me without any problems.

@zeroarmy
if you have small amount of bcc i advice not to claim it now. no one knows what is behind bcc.

@radhwane
i guess this has no installation, i run same original exe to open wallet everyday.
if you can't find it on Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a program, then it has no installation, just check your documents if there is any new data created for wallet info.

@volkantipi
bcc was entered into your Electron wallet app?

@ek247
most welcome

@wttbs
no you can not get bcc from btc wallets that are created or funded recently (after the fork).

do you get private key from blockchain?
sometimes blockchain give private key for Compressed wallet, but you have to sweep key for normal address. or the opposite.

you can try this site (use it offline for privacy) :
http://1ink.cc/hBwX (http://1ink.cc/hBwX)

wallet details > enter private key while you're offline.
you will see two addresses for same key, compressed address and normal address. one of them should be your balanced wallet address.
each address will has different private key (one of them should be your). so you may need to use the other private key for Compressed/ or Normal wallet address.

Good luck!

https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fs29.postimg.org%2Fc9gennc8n%2Fnewhelp.jpg&t=579&c=Nrb8FBRKneUsPA

thanks @BitcoinReseller, really appreciate the thought, but none of my addresses had any history on Blockchair

Any other ideas?

I think because my original address shows the BCC was spent, and shows that address and a new address as part of a single transaction, that this new address has my BCC (and it's not my address).

Original address: https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/address/1MWBFVgv9Nk4ey4sR29QqyoAtBEa83x82i
Transaction: https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/transaction/243649462#i=0
Recipient of the BCC: https://blockchair.com/bitcoin-cash/address/1BF6saPUmU45psmQFodTGnUEfJG2F7gBSo

Should I send that address a small amount of BCC with a message to return it and hope they do? The new address (1BF6...) had received 6 BCC earlier that same day, but hasn't spent anything and no other activity. Is it possible this is a bug when you click "Close" instead of "Broadcast" when you sweep? I could test this with some additional addresses and sweeping them (clicking Broadcast for some and Close for others), but maybe somebody else has experienced similar behavior. Clearly I clicked the wrong button, but I'm hoping 1 click wouldn't make this happen. Thanks!

maybe you should try to use some other bcc wallet?

@ziedsilver

are you sure your wallet has bitcoin cash balance after fork?

all wallets histories on bitcoin are same on bitcoin cash till the fork.
your balance should be recently available on your bitcoin wallet to be exists on bitcoin cash.

example, some people was sold their bitcoins before fork, and after fork they ask to claim bcc, this is not possible.

Thanks for the tutorial. My question is: Does Bittrex generate a new deposit address once you send the coins? Because I want to keep my privacy by sending BTC separately in different batches, and for that I need the exchange to generate new receiving addresses each time.

no bittrex has one deposit address for each user.

They have, in fact I did send all of my Bitcoin Cash there because it is really a hassle finding another exchange site that will be giving me a good bitcoin cash wallet also, Bittrex is a trusted site so I think I don't really need to find another site. Though after the fork, their Bitcoin Cash Address was under maintenance the reason I've waited for almost a whole day.

yes bittrex is old and trusted exchange site. i already save up to 3 btc on my bittrex account.

I there, if you could help me out I would very much appreciate it...

I have a bitcoin address which held a positive balance of BTC at the time of the fork.
I check on Blockchair.com and it is showing a BCH balance too
I have installed Electron Cash & followed the instructions - and when I "Sweep Private Key" - it says "No inputs found"
I have used the suggested bitcoinwallet address website and used a compressed version of my private key (both types) and still no balance showing in Electron wallet

So...  I have the public key showing a positive BCH balance on Blockchair.com
I have obtained the private key for this address from Blockchain.info wallet
And still cannot access my BCH...

What could I be doing wrong?
thanks

had you tried to sweep both compressed and standard addresses?
i faced this problem too, i was sweeping address which i thought it has balance, but then tried with compressed address and it worked.

try to get the new address and new private key from this site :
http://bitaddress.org/ (http://bitaddress.org/)

use it offline, click wallet details > enter private key and you will get two private keys for standard and compressed addresses.
maybe you should try both keys on Electron and hope it will works.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tutorial man. That blockchain link works very well. For me the problem is still deciding which wallet to use. Are you enjoying using that one, and do you feel secure with it. Why did you choose that one? Did you paid attention to any particular details?
I think a thread with a review, or tips on how to choose a BCH wallet would be great.

So do I need to move Bitcoins off my wallets first before following your procedure? If I send Bitcoins to a new address, will the Bitcoin Cash still be at that address? I assume that would be the safest thing to do first to protect the Bitcoins.

I am copying this from another thread i started yesterday since the information should be here:

My post:
I had a wallet in Mycelium. Sent all the btc I had there to a new wallet in a desktop wallet type so as to leave it empty.
I installed Electron Cash, introduced the SEED of the Mycelium wallet (that was now empty of btc), and thebalance that shows up is less than I had originally in btc.
YES, they were pre-Bitcoin Cash bitcoins.
Also in Electron Cash, in History, it shows "not confirmed" on all of the transactions in the history.

Any help on this? My Mycelium wallet had only a small amount and was using it first to try to redeem my BCC before i do so with another wallet that has more.

Appreciate any help, links, thanks

Reply by BitcoinReseller:
Electron cash wallet has 100 inputs limit per sweep.
You have to wait till first sweep get confirmed, then you can do anther sweep.

if you want to claim your bitcoin cash using Electron Cash wallet try this step by step tutorial :
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2078292.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2078292.0)

My reply today:
Thanks, reading the other thread now. In anycase, what about the "not verified" issue I get ? how do I get the balance of each address to show "confimed" in Electron Cash?In original wallet (mycellium) I had 19 entries in transaction history, in E.Cash only 15.  The thing is all the received inputs do show in the transaction history of E. Cash; it's the outputs that must be larger making my balance less that I had in btc. Maybe some of the "change" inputs from the outputs not showing....

NOTE: I did not sweep each individual key; rather I just introduced the seed from the mycelium wallet" when creating the new wallet in Electron Cash.

(copying this message to your other thread)

Yes because if you don't move your btc first to a brand new wallet then you'd be exposing your seed/keys to Electron Cash, which you are gong to do but never if that seed/address contains btc just in case.
So, yes, I sent all my btc from my original wallet to a new wallet, leaving the original one empty completely of btc. Then and only then am I introducing my seed into Electron Cash, which is the software I'm using to try and get my Bitcoin Cash freebies.

EDIT:
Besides making sure your original btc wallet is completely empty of btc before proceeding to do the Electron Cash stuff, some other things I've heard that are convenient to do are:
- Use a different PC to use Electron Cash (a PC that doesn't contain any btc wallets).
- If you don't have another PC, try using a Virtual Machine to work with Electron Cash, and first take out of the PC all wallet files from btc wallets.
- Preferably use Linux always for all btc / bcc or any cryptocoins. Yoou can do a linux install in your virtual machine for example; I'm using Oracle VM Virtual Box, a free software, and Lubuntu for Linux there (Lubuntu is a lighter version of Ubuntu Linux).

I looked in the bitcoin cash web page where they list a few wallets. The only one that I found that does not need to download the entire blockchain is Electron Cash, besides the hardware ones which I don't use.

i don't know what "not verified" means, as long as i'm not the developer and i never get like this problem before.
usually i get 'Unconfirmed' for new transactions, but soon it gets 'Confirmed'.

you said you did Wallet Import, in my case i did Sweep.
i notice in one of my wallets, which has many transactions when i do sweep only some inputs and some of total balance get sweep to my Electron cash wallet. i notice some more balance was still remain in my bcc wallet. and i get error when i do new sweep before first sweep payment get confirmed. so i wait some minutes till first sweep get confirmed then i did another sweep for same private key (same wallet) to claim the remaining inputs (balance) till it get empty (no inputs and no more balance).

maybe i'm using old Electron Cash wallet version, it has only sweep, no import wallet option other than starting up (import or create new wallet) i created new wallet.

maybe your problem will be solved if you follow steps exactly, sweep worked very well with all my wallets, only one which has many inputs (many transactions) i said before, double sweep solved the problem. but not sure double import is possible  :-\

what i advice you to do, is installing Electron Cash wallet again on new laptop, Create new wallet, and then Sweep your old wallet, this should work if your wallet has many transaction /many inputs. each sweep will take 100 inputs only.

Good luck!

while you have private key for your wallet, you can sweep funds into your new created wallet on Electron.
Sweep will create new transaction and send balance from your old wallet (Mycelium) into your new Electron cash wallet.

I have obtained the private key for this address from Blockchain.info wallet
And still cannot access my BCH...

thanks

I had this problem, and have finally solved it. Electron Cash will attempt to sweep both

Private Key format WIF Compressed 52 characters base58, starts with a 'K' or 'L

and

Private Key format WIF (51 characters base58, starts with a '5')

but will claim to have found no inputs on the compressed version, which is the version blockchain.info exports.

I used the wallet details feature (offline) on https://www.bitaddress.org to convert between the two addresses, and then successfully swept the 51 character uncompressed WIF into electron cash.

I made "Click on Wallet  -> Private Keys -> Sweep". And I saw few inputs. Ok.

When I made "Click on Broadcast to confirm it." I have error: "error (258: txn-mempool-conflict)".

Nevertheless, after that I saw that ALL my bitcoins sended to another BTC address!

How I can cancel that operation?
How I can return my bitcoins to old address?

When I do "Click on Wallet  -> Private Keys -> Sweep" whats going on bitcoin network and bitcoincash network?

Why my bitcoins sended to another address?
Why my bitcoincashs sended to another address?

Meatbot you maybe got them stolen as I did following this guide as I have being tracking mine for a while now and the person who stole them had over £40,000 worth of bitcoin but keeps splitting them and moving them on but I will keep tracking.

If the person who stole bitcoins reads this I would like them returned it was roughly £100 worth.

Thank you so much for the detailed tutorial. I think many of the beginners needed this kind of steps. I too heard that Bittrex did this ridiculous limit to all the accounts and it will definitely affect them.
Actually having this kind of information for the people who experience different type of transaction could help new people here in the bitcoin system. It is a good thing for bitcoin because it could actually a factor for bitcoin development in the future that could also help bitcoin development as a part of innovation on its transactions, value , price and also the security in every investments and trading people would do.

hardfork so no dongcoin for me dong, but this is very handy for those who have done. They are Bitcoin Cash Bitcoin Money.
Also in Electron Cash, in History, it shows "not confirmed" on all transactions. My balance is less than I had in btc. Maybe some of the "change" inputs from the outputs do not show up ...

Electron Cash has 100 inputs limit per sweep.

when you do a sweep, if not all balance transferred, you have to wait till fist sweep till get confirm then do another sweep to claim the remaining balance.

This is something I would like to do, but I'm not even getting past stage 1!
I got on to Blockchair all right, but not happy with the result. I wonder if anyone else had this experience.

I have a Bitcoin Core wallet, and there was about 3/4 btc in it at fork time. Submitting my addresses to Blockchair came up with all my deposits OK, I can match them to my wallet history - but then Blockchair informs me that all those deposits - minus a tiny 0.002 btc - were spent! So there would not be any bcash worth pursuing. I don't think that represents the "situation on the ground".
So now the question is - which logic is used when claiming bitcoin cash? Is this based on the Blockchair results, or does Electron Cash do it some other way?

maybe you don't have 3/4 btc at the fork time but later, getting funds after fork time will not give BCC.

I thought I made it clear that, at fork time, and well before that too, there was a definite unspent balance in my wallet.

I even repeated the blockchairing exercise just to make sure I had all the details right. This is not confidence-inspiring.

try to insert your PK on this site while you're offline after page load :

http://bitaddreses.org/ (http://bitaddreses.org/)
Wallet Details > enter private key and view details.

it will give your 2 private keys (one on right, and one on left), one is your entered one and other is compressed private key.

try to import the other private that you don't insert, hope BCC are there.

That site has 4 topics but every one of them links to How To Make A Paper Bitcoin Wallet.
In any case, it's not the PK I'm worried about just now, I didn't need it at the Blockchair site, they just asked for the wallet addresses. I haven't got to the stage of wanting to import keys, I'm still wondering where my btc balance went...

BTW I had to change the link to bitaddresses because the other one does not work.

Ah, all right.

Problem - the Blockchair site gives a strange result. It does not recognise that I had a btc balance at 1st August; it thinks all my deposits were spent. But they are not, I had a balance of about 3/4 btc.

So - if I try to recover bcc/bch from this bitcoin core wallet, can I be confident that I can claim something? The previous link you posted makes no sense, as I'm not interested in creating a paper wallet which is all it is promoting.

To set up an Electron Cash wallet - fine. I can provide private keys, fine. But do they use the Blockchair system of calculating btc balances, or is that done another way? I'm not sure I want to go though that process and be told there is nothing to claim, when I know there certainly is. I cannot understand the Blockchair process that came up with such a wrong result.

Can you give some insight into what goes on behind the scenes?

I didn't want to post that sort of information so won't go down that road.
Instead I just downloaded the Electron Cash wallet from the link you posted. Came up as a Trojan straight away, so after cleaning my computer I went to the proper website for the latest version. However this did not help any, it only found a very small fraction of my funds which is not worth bothering with. So I think I will give up on this.

So I am a bit confused.  I keep hearing about free bitcoins with this fork.  And all you have to do is claim your Bitcoin Cash, transfer it and exchange your Bitcoin Cash to the original Bitcoin.  However sweep private keys from your Multibit wallet with the Electron Cash wallet,  it isn't claiming free coins, it is exchanging them.  It actually deducted BTC from my Multibit Wallet, and converted them in the BTC (Electron Cash) wallet.

Seems to me I lost a ton of money because 1 BTC is not the same as 1 BCC.

Do I understand this correctly?  Sweeping your Multbit private keys into Electron Cash wallet removes BTC out of your Multibit wallet?

Thanks.

[UPDATE] So apparently Multibit Classic didn't understand the fork.  I swept the private key into Electrum, and the full amount transferred in.  Nothing to see here.

you should have both BTC and BCH and soon BTG from the fork, all equal to your bitcoins when fork happen.

SuzyAZ

1) Upgrade the chrome extension Ledger Manager to 1.0.3 or upper
2) Upgrade the chrome extension Ledger Wallet Bitcoin to 1.8.4 or upper
3) From the ledger Bitcoin wallet you can use the same seed by clicking on [Main], or by creating a new dedicated seed for Bitcoin Cash by clicking on [Split]

then import keys into your bitcoin cash wallet.

Well, my address starts with number 3, probably because it is a 1of3 multisignature address of an Electrum wallet. So not clear what to do now.

-Electrum
1) Open the menu "View" and click on "Show Addresses"
2) Then open the new tab "Addresses"
3) Ritgh click on the addresses that had Bitcoin before the fork, then click "Private key".
4) Click on the qrcode icon to show it.
5) Sweep keys into your Bitcoin Cash wallet.

make sure you're using Electron Cash wallet (for Bitcoin Cash), because Electrum released many similar wallets for Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash, ..etc
it should works fine if you follow this tutorial correctly.

i used Electron Cash 2.9.2 in my tutorial. maybe you can try again with old Electron Cash 2.9.2 version you can get it from here :

or you may try to use another wallet, other than Electron Cash, i guess you can find more wallets supporting Bitcoin Cash.

Greetings
I followed the instructions to the letter and I had success with the process without issue but I am having a hard time understanding the transaction to my exchange. After the "sweep" I had a little over 41 coins in my electron cash wallet. I sent them to BITTREX. My account at BITTREX confirms the transaction as a deposit but I have been credited 0.041 BCC Not the 41. I sent. I seem to be having trouble with the math...

*** Checking my wallet it seems the sweep provided mBch coins - What the heck?

Hi - I read the instructions for claiming BCH via Electrum Cash.  I was wondering if I can claim my BCH using Bitcoin ABC?  I read on another forum that you simply needed to download Bitcoin ABC, synch the forked chain, then copy over the wallet.dat file, replacing the empty one from the fresh Bitcoin ABC install.  I did that - and I can see old BTC transactions in the history, but my BCC balance is zero - which doesn't make any sense, as I never claimed the BCH - I only swept the BTC from that wallet.  Anyone know what I could be doing wrong?  I definitely have the BCH - again, I never took it.

Edit: While I wait for someone to reply, I thought I'd give Electrum Cash a shot. So I went into my Bitcoin ABC client to 'dumpwallet' my private keys (so I can then sweep them into Electrum), yet it doesn't work - I get errors.  I tried dumpprivkey and that doesn't work either.  It's incredibly odd that my BCC balance shows as zero, it doesn't make any sense.  The transaction history shows the old BTC (which I entirely swept out - but I should still have the BCH, as I never claimed it), but somehow the BCH isn't showing. What gives?  How do I get my money?

first make sure that your wallet includes bitcoin cash balance.
you can use this site to check your bitcoin cash address :
https://blockchair.com

if you follow steps correctly you should be able to claim all your bitcoin cash balance and sell into bitcoins ;)

Ok, so here's my problem with that - I don't know which address it is. I had tons, and tons of addresses back in the early days when I was experimenting with bitcoin.  So what I first tried to do is do a 'dumpwallet' in the console of Bitcoin ABC (or Core), in order to grab the whole thing, which I would've then tried to import into something else (such as Electron Cash).  However the error I get in the console is "Cannot open wallet dump file (code -8)"   I can't find out the meaning of this.. do you have any idea?

Also, if there is absolutely no way to just export the whole wallet - what's the most efficient way of finding out which address has the BCH?  The addresses in my Bitcoin client are where exactly?  There are "sending" and receiving ones, which ones would I want?  I truly appreciate the help...!

when checking blockchair.com, am I looking for an addresses which has some amount of BCH under "Total unspent (balance)"?
If so, should that address have any unspent amount of BCH or am I looking for an address which should show the correct value held in bitcoin before the split?

I think few of us are on the same issue, hopefully we can solve it.  Didn't know each "Receive with" address in bitcoin qt is associated with a different private key, so just used an addresses that had Bitcoin before the fork.  But didn't work in electron cash after the sweep and checking that address on blockchair shows zero balance for Total unspent (balance).

I think few of us are on the same issue, hopefully we can solve it.  Didn't know each "Receive with" address in bitcoin qt is associated with a different private key, so just used an addresses that had Bitcoin before the fork.  But didn't work in electron cash after the sweep and checking that address on blockchair shows zero balance for Total unspent (balance).

are you sure you're sweeping private key for your balanced wallet address?
there is something called Address And Compressed Address maybe you sweep Address but you should sweep Compressed Address.

you can use this site to get Compressed address from your normal address :
https://www.bitaddress.org (https://www.bitaddress.org)
wallet details > enter private key > view details.

you will get 2 private keys, one is your and other is new. try to sweep the new one.

first, make sure to send bitcoin into new protected wallet before sharing private key for your old wallet.

if still not working, try old Electron Cash 2.9.2 version, download link is attached on main post.

Good luck!

Who knows? A lot of good advice is given on this forum. And some are donated only red points for it... But that's another story.

The good news is that the claiming was dead simple and that at least I am now able to donate BCH.  :)

in fact I think that donations are not even worth talking about, because every word is said on this, by other participants. Everything can turn into a farce and then the red dots on your account will be permanent. Therefore, if you can earn Bitcoin, you need to do it quietly and do not spread.

i created my account about two weeks ago, once i heard about bitcoin cash, i search where to sell bcc and i find bittrex.
my account created when bcc released.

Bitrex has not allowed me to create a record for three weeks, is there any way it will speed up?

you can use HitBTC.com instead it's better than bittrex actually.
i will try to update this topic and explain about HitBTC.com exchange instead of bittrex.

Visit this page (Blockchair) :

http://1ink.cc/xVle (http://1ink.cc/xVle)

Write your wallet address to see how much bitcoin cash available on it.
https://s28.postimg.org/foh6qssjh/help1.jpg

click on search, you will see 2 results. one for Bitcoin and other for Bitcoin Cash.
https://s28.postimg.org/v6q8h6g7x/help2.jpg

from Bitcoin Cash results, click on Bitcoin Cash Address to see details about your wallet.
You will see in this page :
Total unspent (balance)    AAAAA BCC

in my example :
Total unspent (balance)    0.03981931 BCC*
https://s27.postimg.org/5jrawlhmr/help3.jpg

Second Step : Claim Your Bitcoin Cash Balance

You will need any bitcoin cash wallet, i used Electron wallet to get my balance. but you can use any other wallet for bitcoin cash.

You can download Electron cash wallet from here :
http://1ink.cc/ByCz (http://1ink.cc/ByCz)

Open wallet app, it will ask you to create new bitcoin cash wallet :
- Where to save it
- Set password

https://s28.postimg.org/4eopn4bgt/help4.jpg
You can keep all as default, and click next.

You will see your new wallet is empty, with empty history.
You can see History, Send, Receive
in my example there are some transactions are already done before i write this topic.

https://s27.postimg.org/anepnrxkz/help5.jpg

To import your bitcoin cash wallet address and transfer funds into your wallet app, you will need Private Key for your bitcoin cash wallet which is same to bitcoin wallet private key.

If you don't have private keys for your bitcoin wallet, you should contact your wallet service provider for how to get private key for it.

Now, after getting private key for your bitcoin wallet, which is same to bitcoin cash, you have to sweep it into your Electron wallet.

Click on Wallet > Private Keys > Sweep

https://s27.postimg.org/wgmmmkayr/help6.jpg

Write private key for your wallet, and click on Sweep.

https://s27.postimg.org/6legomnr7/help7.jpg

If your wallet has many inputs, it may takes some seconds to 1 minute till it complete balance transfer.
Elecrton app transfer 100 inputs max per sweep.
if your wallet has more than 100 inputs (as like 400 inputs) you will need to sweep it (same private key) 3 or 4 times to transfer all fund on it.
You will need to wait for payment transaction confirmation for each sweep.

After sweeping wallet, you will get confirmation message with amount that is credited to your wallet app.
Click on Broadcast to confirm it.
https://s28.postimg.org/te72yblhp/help8.jpg

New confirmation with transaction id will appear, press ok.
https://s28.postimg.org/v47qgwmd9/help9.jpg

Now you can see new payment is received to your bitcoin cash wallet
https://s27.postimg.org/4bqurb51f/help10.jpg

wait until it gets one confirmation at least to be able to send it into Bittrex site if you want to exchange it into Bitcoins.

Last Step : Exchange Bitcoin Cash (BCC) into Bitcoin (BTC)

I used bittrex.com to sell my bitcoin cash and exchange with bitcoins.

you can create account on bittrex from here :
http://1ink.cc/FRKZ (http://1ink.cc/FRKZ)

Signup, confirm account and click on Wallets to see your balances and make Bitcoin Cash Deposit on Bittrex site.

https://s27.postimg.org/vsafdmkub/help13.jpg

Copy deposit address for your Bitcoin Cash.
https://s28.postimg.org/r76uc89jh/help14.jpg

Important : Make sure you are making Bitcoin Cash (BCC) deposit, not classic bitcoin. else your deposit will be lost.

Open Electron wallet again (after payment get confirmed) and send new bitcoin cash payment into bittrex.
https://s28.postimg.org/sknhrte25/help15.jpg

Wait for your deposit to get confirmed on Bittrex.
https://s27.postimg.org/k783yrm2r/help16.jpg

You can see when it will be confirmed from Pending Deposits panel on Wallets page (at bittrex).
then need 20 confirmations at this time. you can see how much confirmations your deposit gets in this menu (pending deposits).

After your deposit is confirmed and credited into your Available Bitcoin Cash on bittrex. you are able to sell them into bitcoins now.

To sell your Bitcoin Cash with bitcoins click on Bittrex logo to visit markets page.
pick BTC-BCC market to start your exchange.
https://s28.postimg.org/rxwmamnlp/help11.jpg

from this panel : Sell Bitcoin Cash
write the amount you want to sell, you can click on Max to sell all your bitcoin cash balance.
Price, enter the amount you agree to sell with, if you want to get buyers immediately change price from menu and set to Last.
and click on Sell Bitcoin Cash.
make sure that minimum is 0.005 btc.

https://s27.postimg.org/yryxfc6tf/help12.jpg

once your exchange is complete, you will be able to withdraw your bitcoins again into your bitcoin wallet.
to do this, click on Wallets > Bitcoins > [-]

https://s28.postimg.org/9tdmdqfi5/help17.jpg

white your Bitcoin wallet address to withdraw your exchanged fund and get the profits from your bitcoin cash.
there is 0.001 btc withdraw fee from bittrex for transaction confirmation.

https://s27.postimg.org/9qr64zytf/help18.jpg

hope this was helpful, if you get any problem please post your question here and i will reply it when i have time.

Good luck everyone, enjoy your extra bitcoin rewards  :D

I think that this is not the only way to exchange your cash into fiat because there are countries who does not ban bitcoins in their area but your steps are also good enough to orient every people. Here in my country , We have our own exchanger of bitcoins to fiat because government does not really care about cryptocurrency and it does not affect the community. Only the banks has the problem on it because they lose some of their investors.

Quick question. Redeeming Bitcoin Cash simply depends on the balance at the time of the fork, correct?
In other words, if the amount of Bitcoin is no longer there, should not be an issue, right? I should be able to verify this using the history of the wallet.

Thanks to anyone taking the time to answer.  :)

yes right.
if you have old wallets, you should check them too, maybe it has bitcoin cash even if no bitcoin is available at the moment.

This is the big problem! I cannot understand why the Bitcash Team with their billions and billions of capitalisation didn't invest a few bucks for some developer to actually make it possible for people who were keeping their Bitcoins in a safe Electrum multisig address to claim their Bitcash!

Thank you for such a detailed guide. But please remove the short link and give the full link. What if the link sends to a phishing site? Thanks for understanding.

Thanks for the tutorial man. That blockchain link works very well. For me the problem is still deciding which wallet to use. Are you enjoying using that one, and do you feel secure with it

I went into my Bitcoin ABC client to 'dumpwallet' my private keys (so I can then sweep them into Electrum), yet it doesn't work - I get errors.

you need Bitcoin Cash wallet, not Bitcoin wallet.
try Electron Cash it should works fine.

I don't support the idea of such manipulations. It is unnecessary at all and you will only will has losses after the process. Be more patient and analyze this case.

It is not look like so profitable and reliable doing so if I were you I would have never do this. Be patient, wait for the better time and do not make mistakes.

Bittrex has one fixed deposit address for your account.

It is true that Bittrex has limited to creating new accounts.
Bittrex must have a KYC that can be made for Bitcoin Withdrawals.

But even though Binance is the same, only the Bitcoin limit is withdrawn around 2 Bitcoin / day for no KYC.
