At present, China is in such a way to go out without cash, only need to bring a smart phone, and solve all problems.

People pay and transfer only using WeChat and alipay, but this digital currency is limited to China.

I think we need a digital currency that can be used around the world, such as bitcoin.

It is like, imagining a virtual money, we can't touch our own money, but we can use it. Sometimes, we seldom bring bags, we know how difficult to bring bags. Sometimes, we forget our own wallets, cash, card, etc., we know how important our money is, but if we have a cashless society, it is a big innovation for us. We use our own cellphones and other gadgets to buy what we want.

If we pursue to use only one currency like bitcoin, yes it could be possible if all countries unite to used it, but the big problem is on the places that not even educated and don't really knows how to access bitcoin and without any internet connection, maybe it could only be happen many years from now when our technology system of internet improves and become globally connected even on the remote areas.

Yeah exactly what i think. This reminds of a anime movie called sword art online ordinal scale, all of thier transaction is through phones. Just by scanning thier phones on a vending machine to purchase drinks is really awesome.

I think that the era of cashlessness has already begun. Nowadays, many times a mobile phone can let us not take cash. The era of cryptocurrency is coming.

Cashless society is the future, but to make it effective into the entire operations each and every government needs to accept the digital growth. Right now very few countries around the world prioritize and adopt digital currency. If every country think similar to Japan, we can make a cashless society in a very small time period.

It sounds good to have a cashless society, if this happened to other countries, and the result was much better than to have fiat in thier pocket, well I think other countries will sooner suggests that too, and becoming universal

As time goes by, technology is getting more sophisticated, all the technological inventions that connect our daily lives begin to feel at hand, very easy, fast and convenient. Some cash transactions will gradually disappear, essentially the technological advancements of the times.

Some countries approve Bitcoin, there are many restaurants and shopping centers that accept this Crypto currency, there are even many Bitcoin ATMs, and I think the future of Bitcoin has entered a part of public life, and I hope Bitcoin is recognized by all countries.

You have put forth everything correctly here but you are not getting at the core of matter. The thing is we can use phone tondo every dam operation that you mentioned above however it is been done currently with the fiat currency and do you know the best part of it? It's just working really fine. :-)
I mean there are so many fiat wallets and banking apps which can be used to transfer the money, shop, pay bills and everything under one roof!! That's the digital level we have achieved today.

Bringing bitcoin on board is not bad thing but problem lies in the question, why should we if we already have well settled business with fiat? I mean I'm crypto lover and I would be grateful to see bitocin being used that way but it's just not possible yet due to insufficient developments of the same.

Exactly some cities in China has a cashless society, even street vendors are using it. It is not a bad thing if Bitcoin is going to be used a single currency but I think this is very far from reality as of now countries are debating whether they will ban/regulate Bitcoin and crypto currency.

Also there is a downside with this what if your internet service provider suddenly have a downtime for a few days. How would you purchase the things you need.
I know it is unlikely to happen but it happened in the past.

Bitcoin offers everything you say. Basically that bitcoin offers us the extraordinary convenience of being a fast, easy and secure system of financial system. Bitcoin was created to do it all and I think that everyone will get the facility to be able to perform financial transactions wherever and whenever they want. Bitcoin enables us to do many things easily, especially in the future when all the technology has developed better and more sophisticated. This is a new era in the financial system in the world.

It is actually happening now. Cashless society is also the new innovations of the governments. In most countries, they are just using card to purchase and even online transactions. Nowadays, everything is going to be cashless.

Presently in Europe I can spend as little as €1 or as much as i have on my
bank account by my visa debit card. I can pay others and pay utility bills
by bank transfer. There is never a time where I need physical cash, i
actually dont need it.

Bitcoin will never be used widely in place of FIAT and i really doubt if there
will be any global currency other than the unofficial, unregulated crypto.

I cannot imagine a cashless society because it would be a delimna for me. Those who are poor will be greatly affected. In my country alone, we cannot still adapt the idea of cashless society fully because there are huge number of people under poverty line.

I really look forward for a casheless society. Right now, it is very convenient to use card and other electronic tinnivations that doesnt require cash nor coins. There are already countries that implement cashless society. Aside from being convenient, it is easier to transact and more reliable.

I am very positive that it will happen in the future. Probably in the next few decades. Yes, having a single currency worldwide would benefit us a lot but we have to consider other factors like our government, the society if they adapt to this kind of technology specially in our country (I am in a third world country)  wherein most of us are still using cash and some doesn't even want to use debit/credit cards.

The main reason for the bitcoin creation is to eliminate the cash and make a cashless society. If it is happen,we no need to stand in a line to withdraw our money and no need to waste the time.We can pay by using our mobile phone. And no need to get fear for the huge money in our home.No one can steal from us.Our money will be safe in a wallet. No need to use of bank deposit and withdrawal of cash.It may happen in a decade.

Nope. A lot of business men think this could be a possibility but they are not talking about Bitcoin as they now know that Bitcoin is not the best cryptocurrency out there in terms of payment. Look at what Howard Schultz said (https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/26/starbucks-schultz-a-digital-currency-is-coming-but-wont-be-bitcoin.html) on that topic. Also in reality cryptocurrencies can be our main mode of payment but their value will still be based on its fiat currency equivalent. Without it they would be worthless, cryptocurrencies might dominate but they need fiat currency to be used as a kind of money.

Actually cashless/paperless society is good for the nature. Papers come from trees, if paper bills wont be of use, lesser trees are needed so it means, lesser trees to be cut. However, many people will lose their jobs.

You see, there are other pros and cons if eventually we will have a cashless/paperless society.

Even the smallest business establishments at the side of the road have QR codes with them for payment. No more hassles, people just scan-get the goods and go. Wish that is existed in my country.

But I doubt government will allow it for now since as we know paper bills industry is to good for them and many politician have split thought's about it since this issue is so complicated.

As we speak many people are living, working in a society that does not use physical cash. Your monthly salary goes into the checking account and for everything you pay using your card, even when taking the bus! On a personal note, I took very rarely use cash nowadays and always dependent on either a credit card or a debit card for my payments! With better and affordable financial services this can proliferate.

I hope it will happen, the country will use bitcoin to serve as a means of payment. Not for transactions in the country only, but can be done to transact different countries. What we know this time, credit cards can only be used for within the country only, that's the weakness but bitcoin can be used anywhere and anytime.

But the hindrance is, many countries ban bitcoin as a means of payment. Some countries even crack down on people who use bitcoin for investment and trading. So the hope that we expect before will be difficult to realize, most likely the country will make digital money that can use transactions to various countries, and they can control and manage it or have a centralized system.

Having a single "currency" worldwide probably would cause more problem than convenience. I could see it as a widely used currency in the internet but im not entirely sure how long if possible, before it catches on, outside the world wide web. Paying cashless is already a reality now. So it boils down to whether btc will ever be adopted widely.

This is pretty much happening all over the globe already at this stage.

However, it does have some negative implications, especially when the cashless society is mainly integrated with the traditional banking system. All of your transactions are viewable to a third party, and they can track exactly what you spend on. Without cash, your account can be frozen, payments denied to a merchant because the central bank does not support its purposes, etc. It essentially takes away the fungibility and anonymity of cash, which are two basic functions of currency.

Bitcoin can definitely help avoid all of this, but mass adoption still seem relatively far away. I stay optimistic though.

the system payment is change and with the technology which comes out in every month, people have more easy to make a payment. and this could happen in the future but for bitcoin, it still needs a long time before it could implement because bitcoin needs to be accepted in the all of countries and bitcoin needs to grow more than now. bitcoin needs to introduce to all of the countries so people can know what is bitcoin and how bitcoin will help their life and if this could be happen then maybe bitcoin have a big chance to change the system payment.

Cashless society is a good innovation for some countries, but not applicable to all especially when it involves bitcoin. There are still countries that arent accept bitcoin as a currency and implementing cashless society using bitcoin will really face many challenges. However, this is also possible.

In our country , there are also many stores right now that accepts bitcoin as payment. japan isnt the only country that accepts bitcoin but almost any country nowadays. Using bitcoin as alternative to credit cards and fiats is a genius idea but i didnt like the volatility feature of bitcoin because it only makes us confuse and charge more than what we used to pay for the standard price of the item that we would like to buy.

Having a cashless society is really something that is very possible in the future. But for me its better if we have a lot of option on how to use our money. Either fiat or digital currency. I can use it for advantage, for  security purposes. Better to be neutral in all my payment transaction. But if their is a Bitcoin option for payment I'll use it, I'm a busy man so better to make my life easy. Fast and secure.

Each currency has its advantages. I am opposed to narrowing the range of possibilities. What for? Let there be Fiat, bitcoin and all altcoins. Each person will choose for themselves the most acceptable option. Bitcoin is not always convenient. But if you use it in conjunction with other currencies, you can always find a convenient option.

Society cannot be completely non-cash. If we imagine that this will happen suddenly this society will become a planned slave-owning system of the new generation. This will be an absolute dependence on bankers and total lawlessness. In new Zealand, Canada already has a debit card in circulation in Australia. So-called for all occasions. It means absolute control over people. It will be known how many people have money that is bought or sold, etc. Big brothers want to know everything and tax everything. This will mean that we will lose financial freedom and groan a herd of disenfranchised.

Just by using your phone, you could purchase almost anything. No need to withdraw on an atm. No more heavy coins on your pocket. Paying bills, and purchasing tickets without standing on a line. Very convenient and less time consuming. I know we're already using credit cards right now, but using a single currency like bitcoin world wide could really help on transaction, having less error than the normal and faster transfer and of course the security. Do you guys think this could happen in the future of bitcoin?
such a way is easy for those of us who already know the technology, but for parents who do not know him, they will not understand anything, so in my opinion better applied like that, and for those interested in the card yes let me use.

It is really possible in the near future, the cashless transactions everywhere and anywhere. Even banks now are innovating their products so that clients may purchase goods, pay their bills online thru their phones, laptops or personal computers. People are also enjoying nowadays the online shopping & grocery. Plus this bitcoin the virtual currency.

cashless society is probably just imagination as of now, because some country will not be able to accept the decentralized money ,due to some reason, although some country are just acceptable to used decentralized money to buy their food like grocery, loads, payment methods, and many more, like japan bitcoin has really acceptable to run their market as goods offered services,,

It's good to think that it's gonna happen in the nearer future. It really provides more convenient to people from different walks of life. However, I think it takes so much time to have it realized and be adapted around the world. Not only people have a full understanding on what it is and not all people are easy to convince and most of all there are only few countries accepted cryptocurrency. But we all can do our part and make it come into reality.

It would be great if it all happened to greatly simplify life, where today is the modern era of all the cutting edge most sophisticated technology that all makes everyday activities easy, but that's just in your imagination. I think with fiat and debit is enough but better bitcoin can be virtual money does not have to eliminate fiat, surely some countries there are people who do not know technology or reluctant to know and that every year hereditary, this will be a battle for the future, You know if bitcoin efforts into virtual money and get rid of cash will make the situation very hot and contrary to every bank.

Having a cashless society is quite inspiring but I suppose it is just limited to some. I believe there are people who can't afford to buy phone or gadget neccessary when doing online settlements. It is really good to have this cashless  society to have a faster, convenient and hassle-free transaction.

The question for once made me think of the Barter society which was a cashless society. The mediums of exchange were the goods and services. A cashless society in the current scenario will be a different society which will change the market structures and banking system. The recent financial crisis in Venezuela made people stay away from cash due to extreme devaluation of the currency and the transactions are done with mobile money which makes the Venezuelan society a cashless society with a different market structure and banking strategies.

I think already we are not mostly cashless society after the debit abd credit cards enter into the world we no need to carry our money in the bags we can pay anywhere in the world with our fiat money too,but we need to imagine a decentralized money system. No government is controlling the society and system we people can use our money as we want.It sounds good right.

Isn't that, pretty much to my knowledge, the situation in Norway? I was talking to some norwegian dude and he told me that most of the places there won't accept paper money at all. The next thing you know, we all will be able to get a chip with our btc address on it and whatnot, so we can pretty much control everything with our phone, and then BAM NWO. ;D

Joking aside, I tend to eliminate paper money from my daily use and can surely say that that's the future in the next 10 years or so.

Philippines only online wallet (coins.ph) already introduce shopping, paying bills and fund transfer with the use of bitcoin just like what people wanted it to be, and now they even starting to have a partnership with transportation group like MRT/LRT with the launched of "beep". With this feature travelers can now used their card loaded with coins.ph to travel without cash back-and-forth. Well, I think what is possible for now is "less cash" rather than "cashless" because the bond between the paper money and human is still hard to break. Besides, there are still companies, establishments, institutions, and people that do not widely accept bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. There are still some of us that prefer something they can see, they can hold, and they can take control of. However, it wouldn't be so long 'til we can achieve that society where all transactions can be done digitally.

To be able to reach that at a world wide level, we should think of all the under developed and poor countries that do not have access to internet and education. We cannot achieve this goal by leaving them out of the equation. There will always be economical transactions between countries, travelers etc... If we do not have the same strong base, we will not be able to do it

Cashless society is good and it means the state is already developed. But as the usual case not all state can easily adopt or undergo this to be cashless society. Yes just like the poor countries it is hard for them to have this kind of transactions however, it is good but not for others.

Paper money will be replaced, it's just a matter of time.

It is good since you only need internet connection. The problem is what if someone hacked your cellphones or accounts on the net? Or the transactions you entered on a computer  that had been infected by a worm causes all transactions to be very slow and you are last in line of about some 30 persons going to the counter for payment. How will customers react on this? There are advantages as we knew to be veru good, while some are also disadvantages that people don't want to hear about. Maybe we need more development on this.

For me yes, this could happen in the future but I am not sure if every country will adopt or use Bitcoin as signle currency since some other countries prefer to create their own cryptocurrency. The only problem of this cashless society is the use of crypto by lawless elements since it is decentralized and hard to track and also volatility since an economy needs a stable form of currency and assets like fiat money and gold. You said it right about the advantages of a cashless society and that is how it works in our convenience. Some other countries are I think has already been in this track and some others too are making some steps to try it in the near future.

I hope it could happen but I think it won't.

The issue is that using the same money everywhere on the planet would mean that all governments have found some kind of agreement. And they don't even manage to make agreement about the environment! And even when they sign something, they don't stick to their promises...

So yes, bitcoin would be a great worldwide currency. But I think it won't happen...

I'm enjoying paying bills online with bitcoin and it totally helps to save a lot of time, effort and money including the fare since I don't have my own car yet. We are already the future and things that are securing right now such as transactions will be continuous. Tell me how do you pay the fare with bitcoins? Even now, when the transaction price has dropped to a minimum, it is not profitable. All users change bitcoins to Fiat and only then use a credit card for payment. It should take a long time for bitcoin payment to become a reality.

Sweden is winning the race towards becoming the world's first completely cashless society, but there are growing concerns it's causing problems for the elderly and other vulnerable groups.

It is scary. Another thing that I noticed myself, is that ATM's lowered the max amount of money that you can withdraw per day significantly. I think it's safe to say that they are trying to lower the potential damage of a bank run in case it happens. If a bank doesn't allow you to withdraw your own money, or spend it through their ecosystem the way you want, then it's time to look for a different bank. I noticed that in most cases the smaller banks do a much better job in providing their customers the service and usability they deserve to have and pay for. The only negative aspect of smaller banks is that they are mostly not as wide spead with their offices, but that's something you have to accept. Everything better than using the shitty large banks not caring about you.

Now it's was happening in some countries like japan, US and Denmark and other countries who accepted bitcoin and cryptocurrency. They already use bitcoin as a means of payment, even Denmark will wipe out the money cash and be replaced with digital money. Using digital money is very easy for human to help everyday life. Unlike the credit card if it runs out we need to bank to refill, but digital currency such as bitcoin enough to use the internet alone can be replenished.

But in the facts there are still some countries that prohibit bitcoin and cryptocurrency. They reasoned cryptocurrency would only bring inflation in his country, and the decentralized system, anynomous is another reason they forbid cryptocurrency. I don't expect the future of cryptocurrency to be acceptable to all countries because it is impossible, I just hope some countries that forbid cryptocurrency just forbid as payments system not to ban as a place of trading or investment.

Banks still provide this service USA is already a pretty much cashless society but I think main thing will be when it happens with crypto that would be great if it happens. There would be no need for carrying cash all the time. This will also eliminate the risk of our money getting stolen or lost and moreover unlike banking money eliminates risk of money getting hacked too. The transaction time will reduce. We will also be able to transfer money around the globe. But I think governments will allow this by introducing new cryptocurrency with some regulations.

@OP it is a good thought process and we might see this in the future, but the most important thing we need to understand is the transaction charges they are going to charge for these transactions, to see the world going all in for a cashless society we need more time as there are other basic problems to be sorted, even now we can get anything virtually.

Technically speaking the era of cashless/all in one on a device like a phone is already here and the infrastructure is growing rapidly. Canada, for example, has widely adopted mobile debit and they are almost all tap enabled for Apple Pay, Android wallet and tap cards.

Interesting you mentioned using a phone. My main question is what will replace the phone for payment? They have their pitfalls; theft, loss, damage, non-standardized softwares... For payment, I can imagine a much more standardized separate device. The world is showing signs of already being sick of the phone being a one stop shop for every application of life. Perhaps a secondary payment standardized device? And secondly, trusting (for example) apple with your banking information and all transactions. We have millions of credit/debit cards, but they are technically all essentially the same. I can see the world going that route, a standard payment device, but not connected to a device you can lose, destroy, have stolen or hacked.

It sounds good to have a cashless society, if this happened to other countries, and the result was much better than to have fiat in thier pocket, well I think other countries will sooner suggests that too, and becoming universal
Even if it sounds so sweet and good. It's still not possible. Maybe it may happen in the next century, but for now, no. For our society to become a cashless society or countries, every society and countries in this world must have an equilibrium level of technology. Whereby, there won't be a need for paper currency.  This may be hard to achieve because,  some countries are still lacking heavily in technology.

It sounds good to have a cashless society, if this happened to other countries, and the result was much better than to have fiat in thier pocket, well I think other countries will sooner suggests that too, and becoming universal
Even if it sounds so sweet and good. It still not possible.
We still need both of them until many stores accepts it, there are many online shops and apps that accepts bitcoin as their payment, there are created for different uses, for shopping, for paying bills, and etc. It gist need more time before it fully implements ,but there is a need to orient the people that will be took to long to adopt in changes.
Yes, cashless society needs fully internet connection on all establishment like what we did on our electronics card, debit card and credit card and by using bitcoin on every monetary transaction is very hard for now since the fact that only few establishment are accepting bitcoin for buying goods and services. One thing I have seen on its advantage and that is about security against theft and money snatching as what always happen on fiat money.

Yes it is very possible, over time credit or debit card will be inefficient if made as a transaction tool, I myself have experienced it right now, in my wallet too many debit cards that make it full, it shows that the cards are less efficient, in the future we can be sure we will all use our smartphones more often to transact because it is more efficient and more simple if all in one grip.
I think a credit card or debit card is included in cashless right? anyway now you can also use credit cards online no need to bring credit cards to shop? but of course the more advanced technology and payment system will be more sophisticated. it may be more credit card will be perfected. not in the form of cards but already digital in the mobile phone every customer. it(cashless) will surely happen sometime later.

It would be very comfortable and worry free if we will have a cashless society since everything will be electonically done. However, strong internet connection and high powered satellites must be installed even to remote areas which means a bigger cost to the government or private institution which will also be passed on to its citizen therefore additional expense from our po kets. It would be a great idea but practically way too difficult especially here in our country but of course everything is possible though it will take years of hardwork and patience before that will happen.

I think this will happen with bitcoin. Nowadays, all banks have prepared a digital transaction as an example of their products, e-money, credit cards, and even they have launched smartphone-based applications to conduct various transactions of its customers. All banks almost have the same goal in this digital era that is to make people transact without carrying cash or wallet, only with their smartphones can transact anytime and anywhere. It becomes a way of receiving bitcoin in the eyes of society and it is not impossible that bitcoin technology can be adopted by several banks.

It is not so far from us this days. It is a common thing for people from some countries not to grab with them cash at all, just paying with NFC and cards, so yeah...
No I think that it will take a long time because in many countries many people are still unaware of bitcoin and they will not invest their hard earn money in some ghost money until they have not fully aware of that. There are many countries who banned bitcoin in their countries which is not good for its future.

It was a very comfortable life. Everyone can do something simple without taking too long. But I'm also imagining that not everyone understands the digital currency. So cash will they use for those who do not understand cryptocurrency.

Cash will stay forever, I can't  imagine life without cash. Crypto currency can also use to buy other things we want but cash never ignore especially in the place that no internet and can't connect in technology, they always use cash even cashless will be create.

So, what are the benefits of using non-cash transactions? Many. However, it can also be very dangerous. Why? Because cashless is actually like a double-edged sword. If those who use wisely and understand the function of the sword at once can control it, the benefits will be amazing.

This is the ideal situation for almost all countries, as having a digitalised form of payment can provide steadily convenience, accessibility, and security among the society. Adapting bitcoin as an international currency in the world may seem beneficial and ideal as the benefits it provide have no limits with regards to the efficiency and usability of it.
Though this may be the ideal situation that we dream, there are a lot of negative implications it entails, such as:

  • Embracing bitcoin as the international currency implies that all countries must accept its value and status;
  • The value of bitcoin is very volatile, thus making prices in the market inconsistent everyday;
  • Having a digitalised payment which exists on the internet is always susceptible to hackings and scams; and
  • Every country in the world has their economic standing. Most develop countries may be able to adapt to the changes but underdeveloped countries may be prejudicial into the implementation of bitcoin as a payment since they need to focus more on the development aspect of their country's infrastructure and developments in their current system.

Like what I mentioned, the world is too immature in implementing bitcoin as a standardized payment in the world due to voluminous reasons. But I see bitcoin as a gateway towards this development as it may be the platform used as we adapt to this ideal payment structure.

Sweden is winning the race towards becoming the world's first completely cashless society, but there are growing concerns it's causing problems for the elderly and other vulnerable groups.

It's got to the stage there were most bank branches refuse to let you withdraw cash. I think that's scary.
I think it is good and bad as well because cashless means that all your money has taken by some body and you have only a card or a digital wallet which is totally in the controls of some other hands. But on the other side there are lots of benefits of cashless society easy use and no fear of losing and looting is the main.

Yes it’s true that cashless society is gaining a lot of popularity among the new generations throughout the world and it has also gained a lot of success and most of the users are now giving a positive support to words having a cashless society. But still it comes with many negatives such as cashless society requires electricity to run and still there are many countries in the world where electricity is not there. Then cashless society also requires a stable internet connection and still there are many places where it is not available.

Cashless society is the future, but to make it effective into the entire operations each and every government needs to accept the digital growth. Right now very few countries around the world prioritize and adopt digital currency. If every country think similar to Japan, we can make a cashless society in a very small time period.
It is a good to the community as we don't have to use our time just to pay or buy what you want. Because of that we can spend most of our time for work and families and friends. If some country won't even adopt digital currency it would be hard to those who struggle thinking of a way to manage time for work, family bonding or friend bonding, why? because time is precious so don't waste it for nothing or to useless things.

I, seldom going out without money because most of the time I am not checking if I still have cash on my wallet, so if cashless society happens it is favorable for me. Should be.
The technology is not getting futuristic. I did not really expect that it would come to this.
it is like 90 percent of the population now, even the poor have a smartphone in their hands. They are way getting cheaper.

So I think it is time everything should also change when it comes to spending money.
I dont have a credit card for I dont really trust the bank and I only have my debit card just because the company makes it mandatory for payroll.
Now I dont want to be going to an ATM just so I could cash it out and mostly they are not working or dont have the cash anymore to spit out.

If we could transact with a smartphone then it will be an ease for every human being.

Going cashless is great. Even our country also initiated such a move buy the promoting the use of online transfers, cheque payments, net banking, digital wallets like paypal and others. But it was just an idea...nothing was being implemented on a serious note. In fact the illiterate section of the society was not bothered to go cashless. For them cash is the only method to go for transacting and they also fear the banking. Government even wanted to go for 100% financial inclusion but in vain. And what you are talking about here is just the use of single currency that is bitcoin. i cannot imagine such a thing in my country India where they are not at all interested to accept bitcoin!! But i think using only bitcoin will make the things go a little time consuming. Also the transaction fees is very high. However right now this seems far more away from the reality... so cannot say anything!!

As you said, nowadays, we can use online payment by phone or use Bitcoin, is simple and has many convenient. However, it also exists a few difficulties. Poor people are still very dependent on cash, they can't access to technology and especially crypto. Moreover, this depends heavily on technology and it can be attacked by hackers

I think cashless society is already happening around us, we have seen that many people use their card, debit card or credit card, to buy something in the shopping store or in the online store. they don't have to use their physical money but only use the card. and I think in the future, there will more opportunity for us to see people buying something only use the QR code and pay the things in the store. the resources of physical money will be reduced from year by year and realize or not, we need something new that will solve this problem and I think cryptocurrency can be another solution besides using the cards.

It is possible for all kinds of societies everywhere in the world to be cashless but not in the present.
There are a lot of considerations to be taken upon. One is that not all have access on technology and internet and cryptos rely on it. Second is that it is highly volatile, there is a hardship in spending it.

We all know that digital currency is becoming more popular that's why is it possible that it will happen that in the future. But, we should also remember that bitcoin cannot still replace our real currency. Maybe if we can use bitcoin as a transaction in any store, real currency is still cannot be remove. Why? it is because of bitcoin volatility. Of course we all know that all the items in any store has their own price. But if you want to buy that item at exact price, you need to convert your bitcoin into real currency, unless if the management will accept it in bitcoin.

It is still involves money, it's just that we can use our cellphones to transact. I agree that it is more convenient in so many ways. However, how can banks and governments handle that situation?
There are very much rare chances of a cashless society and that in case this thing ever happens, this will make this world far better place to live and that it will surely remove any worries of keeping any of the paper money in your wallet as you can then use your crypto coins in your wallet and that you can use that crypto currency for the sake of buying different sort of things and that will surely help you in having more earning too because of increase in the market value of crypto coins after sometime.

Yes that's very good for all of us if ever BITCOIN become primary use in all country, people are very wise there's no need to use in a usual method because we are now in a new generation stop using almost 1 to 2 days processing of all transaction, only bitcoin the solution of slow processing.

At present whole world is going digital you can just use your mobile what you have decide to buy within minutes you will have on your table with out using your wallet But it is hard to achieve this every country have to co operate with even with herself rival country same time bitcoin have to found a stable market. Whereas people want to use bitcoin to become millionaire by gambling with bitcoin. We should have to wait with passion till things have turning point.

It's already happening globally but in pieces here and there. For example in developing countries, there is not even need to have internet connection, you can make payments via running USSD codes - this is called Mobile Money. This is to make it easier for even the poor to transact business in even in the remote areas. The flaw however is that fiat is still needed at some point. One of the challenges would be how to value things without fiat-conversion rates in mind (assuming you want to use only a single currency such as bitcoin). But yes it's possible and we are getting. This is very good in my opinion as it makes accounting easier.

Now a days people change of this easy way by handling cashless without money on hand or any transaction like for example this bitcoin org. ,you may  do effort things like your time to cosume but this is the way that if you are good member you can earn your effort by having a money on it.This is also a challenging for  us to have this organization.

A cashless payment system would make the monetary policy transmission mechanism more efficient,as there would be very little or no cash available anymore. In particular,it would become possible to implement negative interest rates on a broad front,in order to boost consumption

(avoid social evils such as theft, stealing, ...). If so, we will live in a civilized and modern society. With just the internet, everything will be solved thanks to the cryptocurrency market.

Cashless society or what so people called an innovative way of dealing with transaction is just a part of development and improving our society and it is quite visible in our present days. In business world, partially men with higher management want to increase their sales and to have a better way of transaction and for them to have this cryptocurrency need to initially improve the system of fiat for it to serves as a currency in online transaction for people to used and to invest their money with ease to have a time to gain profit with going with the flow and that is the future it takes for us to have if we will continue to used bitcoin.

I am thinking of it, but bitcoin have its own problems like the block time as the time in which transaction gets confirmed is pretty high due to the block time being pretty high, so the transaction gets confirmed in minimum 10 minutes if you pay high enough fees and are lucky, but if not your transaction gets strucked for days and weeks. Another problem is the acceptance of bitcoin, there are not that much shops that accept bitcoin as a means of payment. If these problems get solved then we can think of cashless society.

At the moment it is not possible, but in the coming days when bitcoin rather all crypto currencies will be legal throughout the world and people would be using them for daily life purchases, at that time we would be surely preceding towards cashless society. It is going to take time but not impossible at all. There would be some countries that will experience such society earlier than others such as Japan.

What has making money to do with how we slowly progress towards a cashless society? Even without a cashless society people can earn a decent chunk of money from their crypto investments.

What you are talking about doesn't relate to the main subject of this thread. You are just showing how focused on the market/earning aspect of crypto you are, where everything else doesn't seem to be of importance.

Overall, it's probably safe to assume that the majority of the people here think exactly like you. They see crypto as cash cow, where the underlying technology is not a factor you are interested in.

BitHolder have a point. I see the same comments every day, majority
is interested only in making more money. Mostly their comments are
off-topic, always connected with earning more money.
Globally, progress to a cashless society is slow. Some countries will
be cashless in next 10 years. Every region have a different speed of
progress, but goal is the same, one day world will be cashless.
What will replace cash? Same traditional currency in digital form? Or
digital currency based on Blockchain technology?
Bank's will not disappear over night. Their fall did began with Blockchain
creation, but we cannot know when will banks lose their purpose.
Replacing traditional money with traditional money in digital form is not a
progress nor change. Advancing is only possible with adaptation of Blockchain
and completely changing economy we know now.

the idea of cashless society is just basically a convenient way to spend/save your money without having to bring a wallet and an actual money with you. i get the fact that it was more easier to put it that way but, it is just that you tend to forget that physical and digital money may have the same characteristics but they differ in some instances. and not all countries are that advanced when it comes to that way of payment.

Cashless society can be one of the biggest innovation. Bitcoin is like a virtual money, we can use bitcoin for our daily lives if bitcoin will be legal. Legalization of bitcoin is one of the hardest part, giving the bitcoin is legal. We need to have bitcoin also be secured. A lot of illegal way which bitcoin can do. A lot of hackers, scams, and other ways for stealing bitcoin can be one of the obstacle to be legalized the bitcoins.

I like the concept of virtual money and transactions but I still want to have physical cash. Things that we only see virtually does not makes us feel that we have it. It's just made-believe for me and just numbers. I also believe that most people don't like cashless society too.
We cannot eliminate the paper money entirely from this world as almost every one of us is using paper money since centuries and that they will never go for doing such thing no matter what. In case we experience a cashless society, then this will entirely change the dynamics of the world and that we will then be living an entirely different life without having any such need of keeping anything in our wallet.

There is no doubt that bitcoin is one which can be hacked. Because we all know that we can only use bitcoin when it’s connected to the internet, besides internet is one of the most common place that provides the chance for scammers, hackers and the like to steal bitcoin in anytime. Cashless is the basic mean to take change in daily life of every country. Bitcoin is much more likely to be an extra currency which is legalized in most parts of the world.

Sweden is the closest thing we have to a cashless society and they are starting to worry about the consequences:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-43645676

Quote
Sweden is winning the race towards becoming the world's first completely cashless society, but there are growing concerns it's causing problems for the elderly and other vulnerable groups.

It's got to the stage there were most bank branches refuse to let you withdraw cash. I think that's scary.
I think it is good and bad as well because cashless means that all your money has taken by some body and you have only a card or a digital wallet which is totally in the controls of some other hands. But on the other side there are lots of benefits of cashless society easy use and no fear of losing and looting is the main.

And I think that is the reason why this cashless society might happen in the far future since the technology are still not that developed to support a lot of people that will be having a transaction all day all night long. A lot of congestion and other problems will surely happen. But I guess with developed crypto currencies in our time, I guess that will be happening more quickly.
Cashless society means to educate all the people of the world. Till that time it is not possible that we will even enjoy cashless society, because most of the people in third world do not know about internet and for digital currency internet is mandatory. How they can use digital currency? So I think that it is just a dream which will never come to reality.

I don`t need to imagine cashless society, we are already with one foot in it. I don`t remember when I used cash last time, its all in credit cards. Cash that I have is usually for some little things, for everything more then 10$ I use credit cards. Even in this moment I don`t think I have more then 5-10$ in my wallet, its just for some little things, but for everything more then that I have visa`s, if I`m buying something big I have some credit cards. I don`t use cash like before, and using cash in everyday needs is minimal, every year I use less and less cash and have at least one more bank card.

The idea of a cashless society is great and will surely provide convenience to many, but I truly agree with what you said. With technology upgrading almost as fast as our eyes can blink, there is indeed a possibility that we'd have this kind of convenience. Although, I think it might take a lot of time to adapt especially to those whom are less fortunate. I don't think everyone has a high-tech phone, I know of us do but let's also think about the elderly, do you really think they'd be able to use this? They can be taught but like I said, it's going to consume time and patience. Nonetheless, I don't want to sound so pessimistic. If you ask me, I'd definitely agree to this! For Bitcoin, there is actually no doubt this could happen. More and more people discover Bitcoin each day, plus it's moving up to different scales. I can't wait for this ""future"" to happen!

The digital cryptographic currency is not just a paperless currency, but a direct change in the way money is supplied and managed.

The traditional currency is controlled by the government and issued by the bank! Digital encryption currency to decentralize, by each investor collective control!

Digital cryptography has a huge advantage over traditional paper money.

Chances are possible, but there are many things that need to be fixed. It needs support from governments around the world, while many countries are banning bitcoins. There should be socialization and completeness of facilities that support it. Everyone should have a phone and a good internet network, whereas I still have many people who do not have a cell phone. So there must be improvements in various aspects so that in the not long bitcoin can be used according to the features contained bitcoin system.

If it comes to the time that all society has cashless transactions, it will be easier. No more stolen wallet. No kore forgetting of wallet. You can get anywhere or anytime without bringing money anymore. But there is a disadvantages, like HACKERS!!! or like those less fortunate people who cant do a cashless transaction. It is better that it would be equally dealt with.

Bitcoin is going to win the ground today or tomorrow but it will happen it will be only the bitcoin which will be loves and which will be use, even now w can see bitcoin is being use more than money, people prefer to use bitcoin as compare to cash, it is very easy to pay with bitcoin for goods you will not have to go anywhere but even staying at home will earn high profit for you, gradually bitcoin is replacing money and cash so for me it is very soon to see cashless society,

Yes it is possible, because as for now the technology is very hightech and if the time goes by all the needs and wants of ours will nit be hard to get because there ia easy way called transaction and we don't need to rush things because all we want is convenient and we do not need to spend time to do those things things because we have technology and because if bitcoin we can buy and pay without using any force, in just one click all we want is paid.

Imagine we don't need to bring wallets and bag that we always forgot, no need to bring cash also, we just need to bring our gadgets and we can pay for everything we need.

Well legalizing bitcoin doesn't mean more prosperous country, it's just an ordinary currency with a  lot of advantages compared to traditional ones but not a charity organization or such. Definitely it will helps a lot on transaction and cheaper fee for anything related to financial needs but not for prosperity.

The idea of having a single world currency has been around for some time, and while there has always been a dominant currency there has never been only one currency and in my opinion that should never happen, not only because if that currency crashes all the economy of the world will crash with it, but also because then it will be very easy to monitor everything you do and it will be impossible to buy and sell stuff without that currency.

Yes i believe that cassless society is verry nice and quite amazing. But i think it is really hard to make the worlds become cassless society because we are really using Cass for a verry long time and some other people is doesn't have an idea about bitcoin or digital crypto currency, bitcoin is really amazing but it will maybe takes a long time if we are going to use it as a payment system or maybe it is not possible.

And internet transactions can be hacked by any talented hacker from any part of the world and the economic development of the country can be at stake. Cashless society already exists. Have you guys not heard of apple pay or samsung pay? The only issue is it hasnt been adopted by everyone because of the costs associated with doing so. As technology moves forward, the technology floor is going to raise... Which will lead to higher spread adoption of cashless payment methods.

Does it have to be a big company that does it? What if a small company that is looking to do something like this on a whole another level already exists?

You guys should look into Kimera.ai. They are an Artificial General Intelligence company... but their economic model for how people will get paid (through their devices) is exactly what this thread is talking about. ;)

Bitcoin is only hope to keep cash society.   Not cashless. Most countries plan to have cashless society. But their plans get spoiled. Since no one will want their imaginary cash anymore. Only real cash will matter, such that you hold private keys 24/7!!!

yes I think it will happen in the future that all the transaction will never use cash. Some country started to become a cashless society by injecting microchip in their hands to use it when they buy their stuff so its probably possible that lots and lots of country will adopt it because of its advantages like less time to send money to others easy to pay bills and buy instantly what you want without any hassle.

Even governments of so many countries are fighting for a cashless society.

I think anyone who has been given a chance to have a future technological advancement would grab it. I think having that would make easier transactions and with an open ledger, any transactions can be checked in a way. It's just that we need to evolve into something faster and more plausible advancements. If we turn into cashless inflation would be controlled.

If we live in a cashless society, the use of cash is extremely low, and any consumption is paid in a digital currency.

And no cash use can effectively reduce looting, robberies and theft, and even the beggars will gradually decrease.

Imagining a cashless society in future  will be a good idea everything to be paid by phone and the cash been seamless. If Bitcoin  is accepted by all countries like Japan we can imagine a cashless society. We can purchase goods or services by digital currency and there is no need to worry if we forget to carry our wallet, money can be transacted by the help of our mobile and no need to worry about robbery also.  Money can be transferred with ease and security and there is no need for waiting in a queue to book tickets.

If you've heard about "Nas Daily" I have been following his page for a while now. He featured a country that doesn't use cash or the paper money. The pay through phone and digital way. From the looks of it, it's easier because less hassle and you don't have to cary thick stash around. All you have to do is bring your phone and you can shop wherever you want.
This concept of the cashless society seems to be very much strange now as most of the people are not convinced to believe this idea of the crypto currencies but with time, things will be very much different and that this cashless society will be much more beneficial for all of us and that all of us will surely be able to live a far better life and this will entirely change our living style.

That's not gonna happen because in the future, tools for accessing internet such as gadgets or computer will be more viable I guess, maybe there's expensive ones but the flagship electronic stuff not the "cheap" one. Just like right now we're given the option to buy a "less" powerful gadget but in a cheap price and there also "more" powerful gadget with more expensive cost.
Just the only thing that I hope will happen in the future is that the internet connection will cover the entire planet and become free which likely can't happen unless we found a robust and effective way to replace those undersea fibre optic cable.

There are a lot of movies that could really make you believe that the future is near and is graspable by a few more years. Probably it wouldn't come that fast but still it would be good enough that even the people in the slums have that access. Hopefully they would have the chance to even earn a little.

Imagining that kind of situation is really a wonderful thought due to we won't have a lot of time wasting just to pay our bills and fall in line and wait for about an hours just to have something done. We won't be worried if we left our wallets because we can pay online and by using our phones. But having a single digital money  like bitcoin and cashless society also brings a negative impacts to us. If ever this will happen, people who are not familiar in accessing bitcoin are the one who will be in difficulty because of being ignorant and not used to in having it.

I think that's a good idea because its quite different... We will change how we live our life well today if it happened... But although cryptocurrency is very important and has a huge uses. But we need to consider the facts that its value and price is not stable...  Its very hard to depend our life with this changes in value everyday... If crypto has its own stable value it is much great...  Surely if it happens it will really change the world...

it is no longer imagination... Already China has done it and slowly other countries will follow just reduce the cost of printing currencies and taking much more steps to prevent the counterfeits. Now the data and the mobile cost has become so affordable that almost all the fintech startups are making the mobile app before they develop their websites.  There are companies which only facilitate the online payment only.. so yeah "cashless society" is a closer to reality than imagiantion.

It will be great if we have cashless society because it will save time and money especially for those people whose time is gold. It will reduce the queues that longer the time that results to waste of time for other people because instead of waiting you should have done something that will give you money.

This and do not need to imagine. It's enough just to go out and look around. In large cities, almost no one uses cash
Yeah, I can't  imagine society  without  cash, online transaction are only good to those  who are knowledgeable  about how online cash works but how about the old people  and the people  that  dont have enough idea or knowledge  specialy in online  transactions. So cashless may do for those  have cash cards but not applicable to all people  of the society.

The "cashless society" will eventually come, some countries will soon, some countries will slow down a bit!

Digital cryptocurrency payments are popular in Japan, and China's mobile payment is ahead of the world!

This is also a new development trend, paper money is likely to become history!

I think if the transaction and the processes here in bitcoin would still continue, there's a possibility that it would happen. More people are engaged in crypto  currencies and even some of large companies accept bitcoin as a payment to their products and services they offer. Sooner or later people wull be shopping and buyimg groceries with the use of this currency and for me it is a more lot convenient, and the whole world also uses it.

Yes that's right, there really is a possibility that this can happen due to the largely increasing number of people getting into this industry to invest or to work. But before we even think about that, we must also consider all the flaws that bitcoins has because there really are a lot of it and if it doesn't get fixed, I think this would be impossible to happen since it will only have bad effects to any country that tries to adopt it with this conditions.

Our societies going cashless is very possible but for that to happen, a lot of implementations need to be put in place. Firstly, the governments must come to terms with the concept of Blockchain and bitcoin and grant it full operation in the country in question. Also, the local people need to be educated on the principles with which it works and how to make transactions with it, thus, providing good internet sources and smart phones for making transactions possible.

Living in a cashless society is really good because there will be much faster transactions if you are going to purchase anything online and all the people will use credit cards to have transaction on any stores you are interested.

If we talk about bitcoin, or another digital currency as a single world currency, then this is hardly possible. States can not unite around a digital currency. For millennia of the existence of states, they have never joined in a voluntary global union. All the great empires were formed only by forcibly joining the conquered territories. Even now, in a civilized age, states can not come to an agreement and are constantly in conflict and even are at war with each other. Therefore, I do not believe that someday all states can unite and use a single digital crypto currency. If this can happen, then only in the very distant future.

Anything can be possible now in our modern age that the modernization and the rise of technology somehow manipulates the over all action done by people because mostly just rely or being dependent into this. With this continuous rise that we can see with our society, it can be possible to create a cashless society since the digital currency was already been established and being widely recognized and being used around the world. Although it can make our lives easier than before, still there are really limitations and other concerns why it cannot be done effectively because mostly people still rely into using cash and there are still improvement to be done in relation of using cryptocurrencies.

I think that the era of cashlessness has already begun. Nowadays, many times a mobile phone can let us not take cash. The era of cryptocurrency is coming.

Yes and I am afraid that sooner people who was less fortunate than the others who can afford internet connections, gadgets and can put themselves into this forum might be isolated to the upcoming society, I would like to disagree with this innovation, people nowadays want to have a very easy way to live and I think that kinda scares me, and the upcoming generation.

Maybe this would be happen or not, it depends if the people adopt it because many people can't afford the modern technology because of poverty and I think before implementing this the government should need to educate every people about the risk so that they may become ready and create an strategy to avoid this and earn a good profit from it.

I cannot because we live in a world where there are people of 3 different ages !

The ones who never had any idea about technology.
The ones who have s very limited idea.
The ones who are very familiar with everything related to new technology and stuff.

Now if a society is cashless then the first two generation ppl won't be able to function very well , keeping the Poor's aside..who have never even seen a mobile or an ATM card.

Right now u don't think its possible because we need to keep whole world together not just one well off sector in view.

I think that the only problem to this scenario is the natural resources. Not all countries have the same resources, this is why the prices of the products that we buy continues to change. Therefore, it would be quite difficult the value of products, such as gasoline, gold, wool, etc. when we only have one currency.

Upon leaving home you will not think and afraid that someone will get your cash in your locker. It is good but I do not think it is possible today. Technologically advances I agree, everyone just sits if they want anything for everyday life. But in humanity I will never agree, people will be lazy, daily activities only rely on technology world. This will result in socialization to someone else will be gone. The development of technology is not all positive will always be your impact felt by everyone. I would not imagine if in the future we just be friends and socialize with robots. Our human function will slowly crumble, we will not do anything.

It’s probably going to happen and we are close to that already. We have government cash, but many of us use credit cards, debit cards, PayPal, and online bill pay services to handle most of our transactions without touching physical cash. Cryptocurrencies are just going to push us further in a direction we are already going. So it will happen, but governments will probably still have their own digital currency.

People pay and transfer only using WeChat and alipay, but this digital currency is limited to China.

I think we need a digital currency that can be used around the world, such as bitcoin.

I would like to experience and enjoy the cashless society too. Yes at these moment China experiences the great momentous that everyone wants too.

Envolving in the country with digital currency is such an amazing newly trend happen because it is really differ from other countries.

I quite agree about cashless society idea, but not about a single currency. I think there is a big risk if we only depend on only a single currency. In this case, using Bitcoin for the only digital currency for all payments around the world. Bitcoin price still unstable, that problem make Bitcoin not suitable for a single currency.  I could be wrong, but I believe the digital payment is the usual thing in the next few years, including Cryptocurrency.

It sounds good to have a cashless society, if this happened to other countries, and the result was much better than to have fiat in thier pocket, well I think other countries will sooner suggests that too, and becoming universal

If we accept the cashless society, the danger and stealing cash will be decreased, you can pack your things and go anywhere you go, anytime you want without hesitation your change and money will be vanished. But as for now many countries are not yet flexible for this matter, but not too long people in this society accept the fact about the cashless future, a better future.

I think cashless society is not literally for crypto applied only because there cashless mode of payment like paypal and credit card, and that is an example of cashless way of making transaction, internet is the main engine of cashless society and we all know the fact that internet is not yet fully optimized or the world is not yet fully interconnected, I can imagine in our country if that will happen today, then maybe there is no more street vendor selling ballot, banana cue and other street food, therefore cashless society is not yet applicable for this time.

It kind of worries me how many in this thread think a cashless society is some sort of utopia.

You need to step back and ask why governments and banks want a cashless society, hint its not for your benefit.

Cashless society =

Banks have complete control of your finances.
No more bank runs the next time they fail.
No escaping negative interest rates.
Every transaction is traceable and taxable.
No financial privacy.
What happens during a banking system failure - no access to funds (one happened in the UK for TSB customers over the last week).

A cashless society also does not equal Crypto, a cashless society could be achieved with existing technology in place i.e. debit and credit cards.

In the UK you can see children are being pre-conditioned ready for a cashless society.  Many schools now use finger print recognition to pay for school lunches linking to an online credited account.

My advice is to use cash where you can and hold on to it as long as your can, its another way of holding wealth outside the system like precious metals and crypto.

We are definitely moving towards a cashless society but I think there is still much space for development and awareness for this field. And second thing we are using Debit or Credit cards and now a days many online wallets like Amazon Pay, Samsung Pay and so on but all of them are centralized and we are not using cryptocurrency on large scale. One should also note that there are many countries which are still under devolved and places under war area zone, at such places it is hard to implement cashless society.

Thereby, I believe e are developing for cashless society but the goal is still far away.

I 100% think cash will be phased out in the next 20-50 years. Wr are already seeing the world heading in that direction. Thinking about it I think it could be way less time than 20-50 years. I get strange looks if I try to pay for anything of value with cash. You can see the culture shifting.

This sounds great until you think about how a discharged phone will be equated to losing a wallet. It is not necessary to completely switch to this method of payment. A person should have a choice.

Yes, we must always have the choice. However, I can admit that if future almost all people will prefer to use cryptocurrency. Maybe this future will not come soon, but there is a big possibility of a global usage of the crypto.

This is already happening with the help of credit cards. Since credit cards do not require you to have any internet connection or charge in any device, it is more convenient.

The truth is, most governments and central bankers around the world believe it is important to gradually eliminate the use of cash in the years ahead. They claim the absence of cash would help reduce crime and terrorism, expedite monetary policy and help the global economy.

By the time a cashless society becomes a reality it is very likely that the batteries of smart phones will last for weeks or even months, in fact if you do not use your smartphone that much the battery will last a very long time, however that is the point, in a cashless society you will not have a choice you will have to use a digital form of currency whether you like it or not.

I am not sure I like a cashless future even I am fascinated by the blockchain technology. The most annonymous "coin" is our cash. With blockchain all transactions are transparent, even there are anonymous coins developing different technologies to reduce transparency. The Administrations cannot even wait, till they can get rid of cash. So it will certainly happen. How long it is going to take, I do not know. But it will need its time still.

We are all looking forward to that kind of future but I think that kind of living would result to less interactions with people around you which can affect us negatively. We should atleast appreciate still the presence of fiat wherein it made us smart and socializing to other from the past. Having a cashless society can be a good thing but we should still look back on where we all started.

Pursuing crypto as a world currency would be quite hard knowing that most of the countries these days don't accept bitcoin. However, if every government would unite to have it, it would be great if we'll have a single currency worldwide. What the government must do is to educate every members of the society about bitcoin.

I imagine a cashless society already happening in Japan for the people who want to buy many things with bitcoin as not everything can be bought with it even in Japan which is a pioneer country in accepting cryptos widely.

People there can use bitcoin to shop and buy electronics , bitcoin is 100% accepted in the biggest mall there so anyone wanting to go and buy things there directly with their phone , can do it.

A world cashless society is impossible for a few decades to come because of unfriendly governments versus bitcoin and cryptos. I see a world cashless society happening not before 50-100 years from now , if it will ever be possible.

Cashless society would be more convenient for most of us especially that it is easier for us to transact and have bitcoin as a mode of payment. What we really need is as assurance that bitcoin would be legalize by the government world wide. Educating people about it is also necessary and important so that if the time comes, people would know how to use it wisely.

I think that the era of cashlessness has already begun. Nowadays, many times a mobile phone can let us not take cash. The era of cryptocurrency is coming.
Cashless life has started already in more advanced countries in the world and not just because of cryptocurrency. Using credit/debit cards, visa cards, cheques and other bank notes makes a society cashless. Much more this time if cryptocurrency will be used everywhere.

It will also be possible if all people can access the internet and has gadgets like smartphones, or laptops but not all people have this kind gadgets, not all of us can have access to internet. Also not all  people do not know how it bitcoin works especially beggars who only rely to fiat money (cash) in they use to buy foods, clothes or the things they needed in order to live and survive.

Yes its true, its happening right now, because we are in technology base and lot of people using cellphone, people are also buying online, paying online so that it will not waste their time in falling in line in market or to pay their bills. I would vote for a totally cashless society, no need for anything, no currency just humans sharing for survival of all human kind. Yet this cashless society meant here is probably not what I thought of. This is more conclusive to mean the use of cryptocurrencies. Well it also good and I like the idea. But I think we will have problems in this system. What if your accounts was hacked, how would you buy food. We know for a fact that the technologies we have now have gone miles into developing new and safer method of payment system like bitcoin. But hackers have also evolved to become even more technologically advanced. They were like rats trapped in a wooded box. Time will come they will eat their way out. So I think in my own lowly understanding a cashless society would be a bit hard to implement with the system that we have for now.

In Shenzhen China, they are already a cashless society even without the aid of cryptocurrencies. They use their phones to pay bills and buy commodities. But their personal information is compromised since their information can be shared to anyone. And I believe that if cryptocurrency comes  in place and use in the system, this problem would be solved and it will like a normal payment without sharing your personal information.

I don’t think this is hard to imagine at all, in the UK you can easily have a period of time without cash. Contactless payment and Apple Pay make it easy for you to achieve this, physical fiat money is nearly obcelete. Fiat money has has become a number on your screen which you spend. It has a lot of parallels with crypto.

I agree, the safety of an average person's funds is the problem that has to be solved before we can think about cashless society. Although it looks like it was easy to avoid stealing of your ETH with the latest MEW's DNS hack (by checking is there a green bar SSL certificate that says ‘MyEtherWallet Inc’ ), I agree that hackers should not have the money in the end. I think maybe something like the following should be implemented: if someone attempts to withdraw more than 50% of their funds from a wallet containing over $1,000, the withdrawal should not be processed immediately, it should be halted until the owner confirms via e-mail that the withdrawal is legit.

This total cashless society thing is why bitcoin won't be a generally accepted mode of payment because it is not going to even be possible. I mean, there are people who can't deal with the internet because of their illiteracy level. How is that now going to happen when not everybody can read and write? Besides bitcoin, fiat can't even achieve such cashless feat.

In the future everything will become faster and more convenient. So this can happen. Because people are more in demand than in the past and demanding creative people to help society.
So this is a great opportunity for bitcoin to show its usefulness to society. It will defeat the cumbersome banking system and become the largest market in the world.

Sounds like something straight out of a science fiction novel brother! When I was a kid, I thought everything within society would resemble that of the "Jetsons" cartoon. I had no idea money would eventual become virtual. I guess if we can imagine something, then we can no doubt, build it, no? I wonder what kind of world my future grandchildren will grow up in?

Topping your cellphone or crypto card on the near future to complete a transaction will be much convenience for any shopper when they shop on a crypto shopping mall, no hassle on thinking about getting stolen cash, as long as you can freeze your account temporarily when you lose your crypto card or someone steal your phone.

Right now, I glad to see that my country changing and trying to become a cashless society.

I can't , we will have a generation who depends on technology, we will lose the essence of interaction, conversation and other socially essential thing that we must consider always, and this is not a kind of future I want to live in I would like to isolate myself to the society if that happen, Im not stereotyping, but let us just consider the less fortunate people who keeps working for a day and get enough money to sustain their daily food, how about them, being successful and rich is not enough you should have performed better to the community also, and you are responsible as an individual to what will happened to the society where you are living, I guess we should consider this not only for profit and income.

If the usage of Bitcoin and any other type of cryptocurrency will continue to make happen, and will be widely recognized and accepted by all types of people around the world, possibly there can be a chance that a cashless society can be created out of it because we people tend to work out into things that makes our lives much easier and comfortable so if being into the cashless society will make it handy for us, many people will surely push the rise of the cashless society. But it will not be easy to implement because nowadays, there are still a lot of improvements to be done in related to the usage of digital currencies and also, cash or real money still do value in most number of population because even they earn at crypto, they still tend to do exchange it to cash in the other hand.

It would be a world where the ones who can live are the ones literate about the technologies. Cashless society is good it could help preserve the nature because you don't have to print bills anymore, but it has to be gradually introduced in the market so people would adopt it slowly.

In my own point of view, a cashless society is a actually really good idea because it is very convenient to the people because they do not need to stand in a line for hours to pay their bills all they need is their smartphones and internet connection. But the problem is people are very smart when it comes in technology, so hackers could steal all of your money in just a click that is why having a cash is steal important for this kind of situation.

Even I am into Bitcoin, I still cannot imagine that a cashless society will be widely implemented or being established because currently, there are still a lot of problems that we are facing in relation to the usage of our modern technology added by the fact that Bitcoin lies into this technology as a digitalt currency and I am seeing that it will be better to have a balance society where there is still cash and cryptocurrencies as well to equally have proper usage of both types of currency because other types of people still lies into using cash rather than crypto. So even it is possible, it might be impossible in our current time.

While these bitcoin users and people who utilize the technology are just some people. Not everyone understands about technology. And many people have very limited education.

Having a cashless society means a perfect flow and operation of cryptocurrencies. I can imagine that in the future but not the type of a scheme that is working 100% error and hassle free. Not unless if we can still transact cryptos in times when there is no internet connection.

I think all this will be very difficult to happen. I can not imagine how it would be if someone just stays in the house and the activity outside is very little. Indeed everything can happen. But when will it happen, surely nobody will ever know. That will definitely take a very long time. If indeed all people in this world already understand the technology and can use it. Maybe it will happen.

Cashless and digital transactions are now commonly practiced worldwide. Countries like Sweden, India, and Belgium have taken steps away from the paper currency. Sweden is aiming to be the first country to go 100% cashless. India demonetized in 2016 and 93% of Belgium’s population pay through cards and phone applications. They even created a law to limit cash transactions to 3,000 euro.

Cashless society is the future, but to make it effective into the entire operations each and every government needs to accept the digital growth. Right now very few countries around the world prioritize and adopt digital currency. If every country think similar to Japan, we can make a cashless society in a very small time period.
Yes, it is true that people do not use cash then this is a good technology for the future. And it takes time and hard work for digital currency to be received worldwide. Still many countries do not receive the digital money, and few countries who accepted it.

I think it could happen but we need to be very careful with such a thing , this will mean that probably all your financial info will be tracked. Privacy coins will be banned by governments and there will be back doors on your phone for the government to check your data. Cash is such an important thing and i think most people fail to see that , they just want bitcoin to succeed without thinking about the consequences.

If people can just use their phone to pay for something they bought and not needing to use a cash. It will be easier. But not all the people is capable to do that. Cash is still needed. Not everyone have a high tec phone. It will be a disadvantage to those people who did not have it. Also those generation who's not really familiar with technology these days. Most of the advantages you mentioned are for middle and elite classes. Have you imagined those who are in low class? they will need to have smart phones before they could purchase necessities. If fiat money would be removed from the economy because of those convenience, a lot of low class people might die.

That is unimaginable, cause it can never happen. Even if we get into making use of electronic form of payments, the physical forms of money will still be there in the bank or wherever they are being stored, cause they are very important and there will be moments when we will all need them. So you can’t be telling me to imagine a cashless society, cause it’s not possible. Even if it does happen in a society, other societies won’t follow such step cause it’s stupidity, and most people living there will just relocate. Hackers will also get into full job of hacking devices and stealing everything in it.

Cashless society would be convenient for us who uses it but would be hard for those who don't have enough idea about it. It would be a problem for those who don't have enough wisdom on how to access it. I think before the government implement a cashless society, they should first educate the society about it.

In my own opinion, having a cashless society is a good idea because it is more convenient and more faster. People do not need to stand in a long line just to pay their bills and to get their money in a bank. Many people will agree if the government is planning to make a casgless society. The only problem that we could face in cashless is the security because nowadays there are a lot of hackers that could steal your money in just a second, so probably it is still better to have cash for alternative ways.

"A cashless society describes an economic state whereby financial transactions are not conducted with money in the form of physical banknotes or coins, but rather through the transfer of digital information (usually an electronic representation of money) between the transacting parties." - THE COST OF CASH IN THE UNITED STATES (2013) We are seeing this trend of cashless society is rising and already happening in different ways. "Such a concept has been discussed widely, particularly because the world is experiencing a rapid and increasing use of digital methods of recording, managing, and exchanging money in commerce, investment and daily life in many parts of the world, and transactions which would historically have been undertaken with cash are often now undertaken electronically." - Independent (https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/uk-moves-towards-cashless-society-10267215.html) In many cases we are already do not using paper money and coins as a payment method.

This sounds great until you think about how a discharged phone will be equated to losing a wallet. It is not necessary to completely switch to this method of payment. A person should have a choice.
I think right now many people in this world will not agree on a cashless society, and i think many people in this world will take for long time until all people in this world will accept and adopt cashless society, and i am sure cashless society can happen in the future.

A cashless payment system would make the monetary policy transmission mechanism more efficient, as there would be very little or no cash available anymore. In particular, it would become possible to implement negative interest rates on a broad front, in order to boost consumption.

Just imagining it feels good to us in the digital age. All transactions we just do by pressing hp or gadget we do not need to leave the house and queue. but realizing this is not an easy matter. Currently there are many countries that do not know about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Also they have not gotten internet access yet. So they still do the traditional buying. It takes a long time to make it happen.
I think cashless doesn't mean having to use cryptocurrency, even using a credit card is including cashless. you are right that if that happens of course it will be very convenient in payment or shopping, you don't need to go outdoors to buy something or pay something, just a knock your finger on your gadget and it has paid off, yeah but it will be difficult to be realized because the world conditions are still not yet support it.
A cashless society will need to work completely different than what we are used to, even all those numbers in the screen that you see when you withdraw money from your credit card or when you use it directly came at first from a person that deposited his money in that bank, so the numbers that you see on the screen originated first from a cash deposit, cash that was printed at first by a government, it will be interesting to see how a government tries to make a cashless world works.

It has a very high chance that this could happen. Reason is because its easy and simple. It might be hard for those who dont know how to use smartphones but with the modern world, I guess all people will know how to use one.

If bitcoin will be really recognize in the future , the people will be experiencing a cashless society ,because you do not have to bring cash where ever you go even around the world because bitcoin is accepted anywhere ,any establishment, so will be hassle free and cashless transactions.

I think we are already using credit cards now, but using a single currency like bitcoin around the world can be very helpful in transactions, having fewer errors than normal and faster transfer and of course security. Do you think this could happen in the future bitcoin?
Just by using your phone you can buy almost anything. No need to draw atm. No more heavy coins in your pocket. Pay the bills, and buy tickets without standing in line. Very comfortable and takes less time.

It would be the biggest innovation of us. It's like we are owning a money but we cannot touch it. We don't need to bring bags, card, money, etc.. It helps our daily life to be easy. Most of us always forgot to bring money but never the phones. So if that happens it will help a lot.

I agree with you and I think this will reduce the criminals level in every city and we don't have to worry if we want to go to some places. we can buy something and then we don't have to pay with physical money and I think it's more simple and easy to use that money. I think some apps in our android has applied this too and I think it will grow more in the future so soon or later, we don't need to use physical money. but of course, there are still many things that need to be prepared before we used this and it needs to test first so people can use without any problem.

Actually its already happens now most of the country, they already known and accepted bitcoins but exchange first into fiat money then they can make bills payment, no more standing long lines, no need to bring cash, in just one click on your phone then you can already make transactions and that's good.

Probably Yes.  Cashless is a word which literally means having no cash but in today’s world, it refers to using digital form of payments instead of cash for payment of various expenses or transactions done by the individual. In order to understand this term better let’s look at advantages and disadvantages of cashless economy.

The first and foremost advantage of cashless economy is that an individual does not need to carry cash with him or her everywhere which in turn reduces the chances of theft from wallet, reduces inconvenience due to carrying cash, give freedom from problem of change when transaction is of odd amount, no risk of receiving counterfeit currency and so on.

But sad to say that the biggest disadvantage of the cashless economy is that not everybody has the knowledge of doing digital transactions and hence its reach is limited to urban and semi-urban centers only and therefore it is very difficult to implement cashless economy in the big country where many sections of the society in rural areas is illiterate and poor. Hence the lack of proper infrastructure and education among citizens is disadvantageous as far as the cashless economy is concerned.

It would be ideal, but in reality I think it will be impossible. At least in the near future.

How convenient would it be if the world used one unified language? one unified measurement system? and so on?

Government, history, customs etc are the reasons behind blocking such process.

That's awesome world.  ;D  But I think using single currency like Bitcoin is not good idea. If you transfer money to the wrong people (bitcoin use address, not the bank ID, it doesn't show the recipient's name), you will not be able to get your money back. Yes, Bitcoin is a modern, fast, convenient currency, but it's not suitable for daily life. If Bitcoin want to be daily currency, it may need to change. The amount of bitcoin is limited, but our need is infinite. I think bitcoin is not a good choice. In cashless world, Bitcoin should be extra selection, i don't hope it will replace cash.
The biggest problem with Bitcoin is that it's too convenient for criminals. I don't think "mankind" like it.

Yes, it is hard to imagine a society without cash. There are too many problems going around paying for the costs of living or trading. bitcoin, crypto, debitcard can replace cash with features that are nice and efficient. However, internet problems or features from the technology required require such things as a device, a computer, or a phone. It can cause more hassle or complexity in making payments.

I do not think that the government will remove cash - one that is considered the most successful tool in their centralized operation and management. So, I think the cashless society is not feasible in the real world.

A non-cash society will definitely grow, so many people are joining Bitcoin to get virtual currency, and the world is now developing a virtual currency with a big model. , I think in the future cash will not survive to grow as many virtual coins. In my country cash has been less used.

So far now, I don't think that cash less society is impossible, for sure that it is not impossible, as we all know that it is getting adapted already by most people and it will definitely adapt in times, since people prefer not having a hassle transactions just like paying bills, they would prefer paying in bitcoin rather than falling in line outside.

Chances are possible, but there are many things that need to be fixed. It needs support from governments around the world, while many countries are banning bitcoins. There should be socialization and completeness of facilities that support it.

Yes I believe this is possible, a one currency for cashless society, for me this idea is the best thing that will happen in the history of humanity. Imagine after how many years, finally human has managed to create something that will set everyone free from the system that is full of unwanted experiences and emotion that even just for a simple transaction you need to fall in line and wait for your turn.

Having a cashless society will be a great idea but still there is a disadvantages for that. Yes, it will make our life easier for having a more faster transaction by paying through our btc and by just bringing our mobile phone but as we all knew scammer is also adapting technology so it means that they also find/make ways how to scam this kind of methods, so we better be extra careful keeping our passwords/private keys and just make it sure your not making transactions to scamming site.

Actually our need is not infinite. We, the whole population of the world, need from 60 to 75 trillion USD to be able to make our payments. Once I came to conclusion that even Bitcoin alone could satisfy the need if 1 satoshi was worth around $0.04. But taking into account that we have other good cryptos the world could definitely be good with cryptocurrencies replacing all the money. This will hardly happen in the nearest future though, becuase people are slow to accept changes .

In my own point of view, it will be very convenient and very useful to the society if it has been approved by the government. If we have a cashless society we are not seeing people standing in a line anymore because it is more faster and we can send our payment through online. And we will not having troubles in bringing a lot of cash and coins instead we only need to bring is our cellphone.

Don't worry the world is going towards this kind of payement and I don't think that is happening in a long time actually I bet it gonna happen in 15 years tops as it makes tracing the sources of money easy prevents crimes.

I think this will happen regardless of Bitcoin. The US economy (to pick one example) is a lot closer to being a cashless society than it is to being a Bitcoin society. Most transactions are already electronic. People get paid electronically, pay bills electronically, and can already access all their accounts on their phone. Just about every merchant takes all major forms of electronic payment: credit cards, ACH, debit, PayPal, etc. Bitcoin is nowhere near being widely adopted. It's likely the advancements in electronic payments in the traditional banking sector are a bigger threat to Bitcoin than anyone realizes. Bitcoin doesn't offer any improvement over traditional electronic payments.

A cashless society will be really great for the society because it will be much faster in paying your bills and buying your expenses and you also do not need to accept a change you only need to type the exact price of your bill. But i think it could have a problem because people could make fake online money and could hack into your wallet, so i think it is still better to have a cash as a alternative.
