What is Donationcoin?

Unlike the original "Internet Money" Bitcoin or other variants, Donationcoin is specifically moulded around donating to charity and to helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

Spencer Lievens and Muiz Rana have created this brand new cryptocurrency named "Donationcoin" to enable people worldwide to help other people to live a better life.

Cryptocurrencies like Donationcoin are peer-to-peer networks which form a digital currency and transactions network. These networks are secured by cryptography.

A decentralised network of nodes is responsible for creating new currency and validating transactions. Their supply is also controlled by particular nodes called miners.

In general, cryptocurrencies are designed to have a limited supply in order to keep the currency scarce and valuable.

To simplify slightly, the network are the software wallets which are all connected throughout the Internet.

Donationcoin has a core purpose of donation but can also be used to purchase goods and services both physical and digital or even in exchange for other Cryptocurrencies.

We encourage alternate trade as this will further increase the value and popularity of the coin and furthermore help people in less fortunate circumstances than our own.


Who produces Donationcoin?

With Donationcoin new coins are rewarded to users known as miners. Miners use computing power to solve complex mathematical problems to sign transactions.

Once a miner has found a solution to these problems, their node will broadcast a block of transactions to the network. Once the network has agreed the solution is valid, the block is added to the existing blockchain and the miner is rewarded new currency.

The blockchain can be compared to a digital ledger which contains a record of all transactions made across the network.

Overtime the reward for mining blocks is programmed to decrease and as more miners compete to produce the next new block the difficulty of doing so is increased.

Can you point me to the official associated donation pages of the above mentioned accepting Donationcoin? That's something I'd like to see.

Currently we are still in talks with a lot of the charities. So far bloodbanker.org has 'Accepting Donationcoin' on their homepage.

Key of Hope a South African charity has also contacted us and they are in talks with their IT and Financial Dept and are organising everything at their end.

Direct Relief have contacted us and retweeted confirmation of the message we sent to them stating we have their 250,000 Donationcoin at the ready.

The other charities such as the Red Cross, Barnardo's, Oxfam have all been emailed and our initial phone calls hit upon dumbfounded ears.
Cryptocurrency was a completely different language and the people we got in touch with were simply interested in FIAT donations.

However this has not what we want. We want the charities to be in direct control of their own Donationcoin. If some larger charities such as the Red Cross do not agree they will be removed from the Supported Charities list and their share of the premine will be distributed equally across those that do control their own wallets.

I just want to say that I really like the idea of this coin and have started mining it.  Suggestion, when you hook up with a charity, get them to send an email blast to their membership notifying them of DonationCoin.  Get their members to vote on the exchanges.

The drinkable book and water out of thin air look like great products.  However, I would suggest to the devs to concentrate on the coin itself, exchanges, and getting affiliated with charities.  (Unless these products are charities in themselves).  Things like this could cause you to get sidetracked from the true mission of getting widespread usage of Donationcoin.

Do not worry Thread7 we are concentrating our efforts on the coin and researching these technologies for future fundraisers and events.

Today we sent over 100 emails out to 17 charities various email addresses and conversed via live chat to overseas charities in the USA.

We are now awaiting responses and will update as they come in.

Quick message to request all that are mining Donationcoin to pay Cryptsy a quick visit and send a support ticket requesting the addition of Donationcoin to their voting platform.

Can someone please explain to me how they were able to get "official" level of support from such a huge range of international charities - all of which have an address already - when this coin has 5 people in its subreddit and no trusted mining pools, and is clearly brand new.
This stinks to high hell as being the worst of all the scam coins to date.

Please, prove me wrong by showing a letter of official recognition by some of these charities. So far, the only proof is that they have addresses, which is absolutely no proof whatsoever.

As stated in the emails we have sent out to the charities (which is public in this thread) the supported charities section of our site contains wallet addresses created by us the developers to enable people to donate for the time being. The 'Affiliated Section' of the site contains the charities which have their own wallet and control their share of the premine.

Bloodbanker.org has confirmed delivery and the mass mailout to the other charities has been sent out to the charities contained within our 'Supported Charities' section.

This does not write off the British Red Cross from excepting Donationcoin at all.

This in fact shows their interest and keenness to get involved once the coin is in further circulation.

Also that they will be watching with interest.

Good news is this is just their Donation help desk which the general public would email concerning their payments to the British Red Cross and we have emailed more than just this address.

We are awaiting their responses and also the American Red Cross.

tl;dr Take the language out about charities supporting this coin unless it is verifiable.  Get a third-party escrow to handle the pre-mine and let the charities control their wallets.



I support your coin, but I have a few issues which might give people pause when considering Donationcoin and I think you should consider revising the preceding text.  I would consider removing the first line completely.  In addition, there is no proof that any of the wallet addresses other than maybe the BloodBankers addresses is actually owned by the respective charity.

In my opinion, the best thing for this coin (as most people do not trust premines no matter how good the intentions) would be to put these coins in escrow with a trusted third party.  When the coins mature and organizations such as the British Red Cross begin accepting them they can verify their wallet address through an official Twitter account, a page on their website or some other official means (not an email as those can be easily forged).  Once verified the third party can then transfer the.

To the skeptic what this looks like now is that names are being thrown around which really don't officially support the coin.  People are being asked to donate to wallet addresses which are not officially supported by the charities.  Both of these throw up red flags to new miners of this coins.

I understand that the wallets are there to convert DON to FIAT and then donate FIAT to the charities, but what needs to happen is that you need to donate the DON and let the charities convert to FIAT from their own wallets.  There is very little trust in the community for premined coins in addition a premined coin which also asks you to donate to wallets addresses that they also own provides even fewer assurances that this isn't a scam.

I'll say one last thing with regards to scammers and I'm speaking in general and not about this coin or its creators.  I've seen quite a few scamcoins for coins which actually had promise and the potential of the coin to be worth millions for the creators was ruined so they could make a few thousand dollars.  They essentially gave away the potential to make a few million in order to make a few grand.  I think that this coin has the potential to become widely used, however, transparency and trust is needed in order for this to happen and I would hope that if there were any intention to defraud miners and investors that the creators of this coin or any new coin would think about the long-term potential of this coin rather than trying to make a couple of thousand because that will not last long.  Good luck.

Trusting a third party or escrow is not possible with Donationcoin as we are the developers and solely responsible for this coin as its not a product but a crypto currency that in itself is a big responsibility. Soon we will be adding more charities as we are in contact with them daily many have approved but they dont understand crypto currency and need some training first. Even you know an average joe on the street doesn't know how crypto currency works. The majority doesn't even know about bitcoin but with time and meetings they will understand what donation coins is. We have set a timeline for our projects and meetings with these charities and you will be updated as we continue to add charities and update the donation system to a virtual system being used for donation coin. Also we are not giving as big an amount to American and British Red Cross and instead splitting more 250K amounts to more charities. So please put forward worthy charities that you believe deserve inclusion.

Just had a look on Swisscex and realised that Donationcoin without the BTC votes has the most organic votes out of all the coins.

The two coins ahead of us have paid in the region of $400/BTC to be in the position they are.

We have 1200 organic votes.

I had a company in mind for the escrow, but there have even been doubts about them relating to raising donations for particular campaigns.  I guess we'll have to see if these charities take you up on your offer. 

I see you have an affiliated charities link on your homepage for charities which have taken you up on your offer.  This is great so people know which charities have accept their donation.  Right now we have one, but more will follow.

Here's a list of about 100 charities which are rated 4 star by charity navigator which have donations under 3.5 million per year.  I would suggest adding some of these to your mailing list as these charities are probably looking for non-traditional ways to increase their donations.  It is going to be difficult to bring the Red Cross on board until you have lined up several smaller charities I think and until donationcoin have proven itself.  You may be shooting for the moon which is good, but first we need to just liftoff. :p

I wouldn't email to everyone on this list.  Autism, cancer, kid and animal charities are all popular I would think whereas some of the charities devoted to the arts or media may be too narrow of a field to consider.  If people want to donate to Himalayan Tap Dancers (not a real charity... I hope) then they should probable do an individual donation.  :P 

I would also stay away from politically-charged or controversial charities.

It is simply because it takes 120 confirmations for the block to mature and become "confirmed".  With a block time of 4 minutes it takes a long time to go through 120 blocks at the current rate that they are being found.  Your coins are there and will be confirmed as we continue to roll through the blocks.  You can see the progress under Statistics and Blocks.  

Now saying this I have noticed that the confirms for the coin are stated to be 30 to maturity so I will update the pool and change it from 120 to 30 which will put block maturity for new blocks to about 8 hours or so.

Please check your account now, your coins should be there and confirmed.

Its a real project with a goal of helping people and your comments serve no purpose but to undermine that work.

If you have a legitimate concern or question about the coin you would get better results by dropping the rude comments and formatting your response or questions like a more intelligent and sincere person would. My only guess is Bleutrade is far too small an exchange with inexperienced users who do not research coins hard enough or know the true value or simply will sell at any rate for any BTC.

Our nethash was right up in the 40MH/s only an hour ago.

Probably down to people updating, the exchanges are updating and the pools too.

Could you set up an easier conf file and tell us how to solo mine it? Seeing as no pool is working at the moment.

There is a ReadMe included in the download and donationcoin.conf has everything in there to solo mine. You just need to uncomment the two parts.

To solo mine you just point the mining program at http://127.0.0.1 and make sure the username and password in your .BAT file matches the username and password in your donationcoin.conf file.

Donationcoin will upgrade the Digital Wallet Version every 40000 Blocks from Block 32000 with new checkpoints for added security.

These will be minor versions i.e. 1.2.1, 1.2.2

Next Minor Update will be after Block 72000.

We didn't look at it like that at all.

We have now updated the banner for the pool and also block rewards are now enabled :)

I increased it from 1000 to 5000 but that is fine, 20K it is ;)

If you wish to see all your block rewards you can go to the 'Transactions' section. Then in the 'Transaction Filter' select 'Bonus' then click Filter.

This will show all your individual blocks you found and their respective bonus.

You'll notice that some of you got 4 coins per block for a while. This was whilst we were testing the block rewards to make sure they working.

(We have to fund the Block Rewards from our own mined coins (Me and Syyyn) as the Donations are being pooled to go to a worthy cause, voted by you guys)

Hey all, we have had some issues, I'll admit to that, but no coins have ever been stolen and no coins lost and honestly I'm tired of the DEV throwing people under the bus every chance he gets at the drop of a hat.  To state that we are purposely shutting down CRONS to "steal coins" first of all make no sense and secondly is absolutely untrue and you as the community that have used our pools should know that.  Seems to me that ever since he brought up his own "official pool" he has taken every opportunity to yell "SCAM" at the first sign of a hiccup even though we were the one pool from the very beginning that were supporting DonationCoin. If you have had coins that were not paid out please PM me and I will make sure you get them.

So on that note, we are SHUTTING DOWN our pool at the end of June, please withdrawal all coins you may have with us by the end of the month.  I've had enough and we've had too much unwarranted bad publicity from this one single DEV to continue on with DonationCoin.  If you check with any other Devs that we support you would see that we are legitimate.  In fact I welcome you to PM the DNotes or NobleCoin DEVS whom I have served the longest with for 4+ months now since we began.

Anyways, to the DonationCoin community, thank you for mining at CharityMiningPools, I do apologize for the occasional delayed payout.  Please cash out any remaining coins that you have on our site and PM me if you have any issues and I will be sure to answer them.

As a pool operator myself I know how much work is involved in keeping pools running and even if CRON jobs are paused for a while they will simply catch up again once they are restarted, I'm not sure how you could be 'stealing' coins by stopping them.

Thank you, it definitely is not a setup and walk away type of business when running a pool.  When your juggling a family and full time job as well, sometimes the CRONS don't get restarted for a few hours.  As you stated, they all do catch up and no coins our shares are lost in the process.

It's not like that at all Reftop.

It's simply lack of interest in the coin which is sad really.

Low nethash, combined with lack of trade and exchanges.

Which in turn makes the Donationcoin held for development, server funding etc. useless as its at around 50 odd satoshi and not many 'Buy Orders'.

Shutting down the pool with users coin is a very smart way to promote DON.

We didn't shut it down.

We got notified by Centarra only a couple of days ago that we had an outstanding invoice which has to be paid.

Our pool will be back up and so will the nodes.

I think we really just need to get onto a bigger exchange. When we are on these smaller exchanges all we get are the people mining and dumping with the occasional person buying a small amount. I think many people are onboard still It just hasnt taken off as quickly as they thought it would and the bulk of their interest has moved of to something else with the hope of donationcoin working out looming in the back of their mind. I myself am guilty of this and realize its going take more then just sitting around waiting for the coin to do something by itself. I have been buying on exchanges but this doesn't help if many other people are as well. Also though this is a charity coin, it has to be a normal functioning currency first. It needs value, to be on bigger exchanges, and it needs to be more well known. If everyone on here sent emails to exchanges basically spamming them with request they would see many people are interested. Donationcoin has a strong backing, it is just to small to currently maintain itself as a regular functioning currency.  I know the devs say its not all about the money, but for crypto to work it kinda has to be. Unfortunately we need people who are in it purely for a profit to join and buy in, because that seems to literally be the only way for money to be put on a coin. Personally I think we need to focus less on the charity aspect of it right now, and more on giving it value.

Your CRONS were shutting down daily at different times and many users reported missing coins, payouts, etc.   Not just one or two or three users complained about missing coins, but multiple users came to us and were looking for answers that CharityMiningPools were not providing.  Also to be clear, Spencer the head developer of Donationcoin was NOT accusing you of stealing coins.  I'm the one who submitted that possibility as I know it can be done.

Not much for updates from the Dev recently. How are things with Donationcoin these days? The price has taken a beating but thats made it easier to grab a lot of cheap coins. Any thoughts on what DON needs to move up?

Don is essential dead. People dont want to touch it because it has been heavily premined. I think the devs should let this one go.

To say that Don is dead is an overstatement.

Each day more and more members join the Facebook group and we are currently up to 273 274 members.

Wallet connections from our nodes are also up in numbers.

Donationcoin block explorer is also going to be updated and an api implemented also.

Android and iOS wallets will also be released in the coming month or two.

In terms of the premine we are re-evaluating the use and purpose of this and we will inform the community with our intentions.

I can tell you that Spencer still holds the premine. Recent events in my family, both medically and financially, has caused me to shy away from taking control of the premine as of now. Simply put, I do not want to take control of something while my time dedication is uncertain. This could change quickly and I do not mean to express any lack of interest to do so but, as of now, doing so might be detrimental.

On a better note, myself and some other miners are solo mining in the absence of the official pool and seeds are running. I did see a small amount of volume on bittrex recently, trading around 5-7 sat. In Donationcoins defense, some coins can only dream of that value. :)

As Graham said, this is a p2p community and I think it's on us members of the DON community who think its a project worth keeping to step up and do something about the situation. DON is effectively dead and has been for months. The website has been down for more than a month. The FB tipping app was a small handful of people passing around the same few coins. The whole "donation" aspect of this coin has been forgotten and literally nothing at all has been done since DEV abandoned us for his shiny new project which is also dying.

Even with the massive pre-mine this coin held promise but the lack of support from DEV and community killed it. I would be willing to take over hosting the website and block explorer on my own existing servers. I will also see what can be done about adding new pools and exchanges so we can get something going on here again. I will make contact with Spencer and Steven so we can work out the remaining issues and see if DON can either be revived or properly put to rest.

Judging by the difficulty, I do not think any pools are in. Some days lately, like today, I solo mine some (7 so far) blocks with only a CPU (~5 kh/s).

I have different amount in same wallet at home and at work.

If they are both synced, you might try redownloading the blockchain. Perhaps on the wallet you think has the wrong balance.

I copied chain from work (with more coins) to home computer, and this works until i shutdown home pc. Wallet accepted new solo mined coins (mined at work to wallet running at work). Next day home wallet synced and miss all "night" coins.

Now no sync at all. Peers from this page not helping.

SterlingCoin is also languishing somewhat, so it's difficult to come to any conclusion other than the devs have effectively abandoned DonationCoin, pretty much exactly as I expected.

Is there anyone subscribed to this thread and connected to the original launch or devs who would care to comment on the future of the 25%  premine?

I note several commentators have criticized the amount of the premine, it's been a millstone around the coin's neck for some time. To continue to simply sit on the premine and allow the coin to languish seems rather truculently counterproductive.

In consequence, it's also difficult to find a rationale for continuing to devote resources to a coin where the devs maintain a dog-in-the-manger deathgrip on the resources, effectively undermining any community-based development of the coin.

All three devs clearly had the best of intentions, PoD, doxed, etc. and I fully sympathise with the stresses caused by other demands but it is long past time to grasp the nettle and for the community to be allowed to take over the coin in its entirety, including the premine.

[ANN] Donationcoin escapes the stigma of its coingen origins.

I got a bit narked with the default datadir setting that DON inherited from its coingen origins, so I re-integrated the Donationcoin codebase back into the Litecoin 0.8.6.2 commit history:

Optional next steps are to merge-upgrade the 0.8.6.2 codebase to the latest Litecoin master and then add some (by now, fairly standard) features such as in-wallet IRC (to facilitate support for those who find bitcointalk just too poisonous an environment), a plot of difficulty and networkhashps, an intro splash that offers the user some support for choosing a custom datadir. etc. None of these features requires a hard fork, they can just be used. The Qt presentation and the UX could also be improved by adapting an “improved GUI” from one of the more recent altcoin launches.

Why?

Because the writing is on the FinCEN wall (http://www.fincen.gov/statutes_regs/guidance/html/FIN-2013-G001.html (http://www.fincen.gov/statutes_regs/guidance/html/FIN-2013-G001.html)) ...

We need to work out a means by which the premine (currently held by Spencer, AIUI) can be owned and controlled by the community, ditto for the private component of the keypair that is used to authorise the sending of broadcast CAlert messages. Same problem, could be the same solution.

The implications for a more determined approach to de-centralisation tend to play out in terms of ownership and control, it's not that a “Foundation” is ruled out, it's just that it can't be allowed to take decisions about the coin, merely provide support and possibly a contact point.

My sense is that all this orients around wallet-based services, that's the only safe place to be in terms of a supportable approach to maintaining full decentralisation and avoiding being asphyxiated by regulation (stregulated?).

I'm prepared to spend a fair amount of time thrashing round for solutions, it's a fundamental issue (IMO) and will be worth the effort. And it would be nice to actually see a charitable ethos emerging. I'll rephrase that: it would be useful (in terms of adoption and publicity) to see a charitable ethos emerging, one can only hope it'll be strong enough for the (bone idle) media to habitually turn to it as a counter-example to the avalanche of scam.

Perhaps we might consider a long running jump and grab to a Bitcoin Core 0.1X series implementation?

Also, so the community is aware, I have been trying to contact the owners of the donationcoin.org domain to no avail. Personally, I don't like the "-" in donation-coin.org but perhaps the donation-coin.org domain should be retained just for historic sake and to avoid having to contact numerous sites to update. I do aim to resurrect Donationcoin. I have been in contact with Spencer about the premine. It has not changed hands as of now. I would of course inform the community when this happens.

I do have immediate plans to get a website back up and reestablish the presence of Donationcoin. I am trying to rally the troops and see who is still in support of Donationcoin. In addition to Acme, I also host an instance of Abe (reads the blockfile directly so can't be faked out by hacked RPC code)

I'd only just disabled Donationcoin under Abe yesterday, having concluded (prematurely, it would seem) that there was no interest in developing the coin further.

Yes, this is a good point. A new domain might let it be known a new chapter has started. I have Donationcoin.info and Donationcoin.net as of now. Of course this does not mean I am strictly against the old domain name. I want the community to decide. I will make every possible effort to secure the domain name we see fit. At the moment, I am leaning towards Donationcoin.info as the "advertised" name. My thought was originally when I purchased the names: First, secure any decent names. Second, Donationcoin.info would be a public friendly gateway to information for non-technical people and Donationcoin.net might be the more technical or, perhaps, the pool.


Another good idea and point, Graham. Of course, securing the premine's remaining coins must happen so everyone can be certain of the possible burn and it is performed in a proper and well documented way. Also, I only aim to hold the premine as a member of the community. The community will be the owner. The only coins I would consider myself to be the owner of are the ones I mine or purchase. I would of course be using my own coins to promote in give-aways, distribute through fauceting (as I have already. Prior to my joining Sterlingcoin or knowing any of the Donationcoin creators), bounties if need be or any other way of assisting Donationcoin. I would treat being the holder of the premine with the accountability and transparency it deserves.
 

I, and all of the Donationcoin community, thank you for this service! I will point to this from the website when it is built. It is no secret, both the cost of Donationcoin and the market cap are low. But, it does have A value and therefore, potential to increase in value.

I have made a compressed Donationcoin blockchain bootstrap file available at http://donationcoin.info/bootstrap.zip (http://donationcoin.info/bootstrap.zip) (~140 MB).

It was created at block height 650,000 (a few hours prior to this post).

The bootstrap.dat file has a MD5 checksum of f0087944400ae04126a113e5ee57d19e as described in the contained README.md file which also includes import instructions.

The extracted bootstrap.dat file is ~240 MB in size. The import of 77 weeks of transactions does take a considerable amount of time but, will be much faster than downloading from peers.

To start the import with a fresh wallet, just place the extracted bootstrap.dat file in the same folder/directory as the Donationcoin-qt executable and start the Donationcoin-qt wallet. If you have run the wallet before and wish to import the bootstrap.dat to catch up faster, you will need to delete all files and folders/directories in the folder/directory containing the Donationcoin-qt executable EXCEPT FOR THE WALLET.DAT file, DONATIONCOIN-QT executable, and DONATIONCOIN.CONF file. Place the extracted bootstrap.dat file in this same folder/directory and start the Donationcoin-qt wallet. Again, it will take a considerable amount of time so, please be patient.

EDIT: Sorry, I should have explained. I notice your bitcointalk account is rather new and you might not know. To addnode:
Open the wallet.
Select 'Help' then 'Debug window' from the menubar.
Select the 'Console' tab.
In the console, type "addnode 108.61.216.195 add" and press enter.
Repeat that for all the mentioned nodes.

You can also edit your .conf file to include "addnode=108.61.216.195" and all the above-mentioned IPs. This way, your wallet will search those IPs at launch every time. But, if you follow the above steps, and connections are made which they will, the peers should be stored in your peers.dat file for next time you launch.

Again, sorry you are having problems connecting. I hope I have helped.

The Donationcoin wallet has been around for a long time. There is no backdoor. The software is safe.

as per almost ALL windows wallets - this is more than likely a false positive ...

the creator of this wallet is a trusted source and a trusted person ...

it IS understandable that the 'risk' factor may be elevated on notice of this warning ... but seriously in all manner of windows apps - the majority of the wallets that are windows based have this type of notice on most virus protection programs ...

we ( cwi ) are building a compilation system specifically for the windows and osx wallet compiles - and can guarantee that ALL wallets coming from our system will be clean of ANY virii - regardless of whether virus scanners pick up signatures or not ...

if this is a situation that you cannot accept - then please switch to a linux based system that is FREE from anything that windows is susceptible of ...

many of our customers - clientelle - community members do just that ... either another computer or smaller device ( like a raspberry pi for example ) when they are in ANY doubt whatsoever ...

this wallet has been around for YEARS - yes YEARS ... there has never been one single issue with loss of coins due to any 'backdoor' that any virus scanner may find ...

there is no need to reimage the machine - unless that is the procedure that makes you feel safe of course ...

rest assured - there is no malice in anything we do - especially with compiles of wallets on ANY of the projects we support ... we didnt compile this wallet this time - but again - has come from a very trusted source and a dev that is known and highly respected in the crypto sphere ...

Good to hear it's a false positive.   If it had been a mining type, I wouldn't be worried.   
I've had several other wallets and this is the 1st time I've seen a non-mining alert.
I re-image my windows computers about once a year to get rid of bloat.  This alert just had me bump up the time table.

When I get my Linux computers up n running, I'll grab the linux wallet.   I've some old XP systems I'm turning into Linux milk crate rigs.
I'm not allowed to use my work laptop on any network that has an XP computer on it.

Sorry for the lack of communication. Please do not misinterpret this as me abandoning the project. I am very active in the crypto and have no intention of Donationcoin not being the original cryptocurrency for charity.

As previously mentioned, I would like to make Donationcoin a reward asset for folding@home. Much like Curecoin (I am on that dev team) and Foldingcoin (no affiliation but I have written supportive articles (http://us.newsbtc.com/foldinghome-foldingcoin-mining-for-medical-cures-part-1/) for FLDC) are distributed to Stanford University's Folding@Home project, Donationcoin will become an option. In a nutshell, folding@home would provide me with a list of registered users that selected Donationcoin as compensation for their work, and the amount of work they did, on simulating protein folding. Details are still very much being worked out. But, I did want to try and collect some feedback from community members that remain. I do feel folding@home is an honorable project and it would be great exposure and publicity for Donationcoin while bringing in new community members.

I do have the new code ready for v1.4. I just need to do some new artwork for the splash screen and other small cosmetics. The biggest thing people that upgrade would need to be aware of is that v1.4 does store data in an application data folder as most modern coins do. It will no longer (as of v1.4) look for this information in the same directory as the executable. I am actively working on a Windows build environment so that these can be compiled in the near future. The Mac wallet will be compiled as well and I would like to have these released prior to any folding@home cooperation.

It sounds like you need to verify you have copied your Donationcoin address properly and completely. "Invalid address" can only be interpreted so many ways.

Yes, Donationcoin v1.4 source code has been ready for some time. But it has yet to be compiled for Windows or MAC. I can get the MAC compiled at little cost, but the Windows, not so easy or cheap. If any community member has a functional Windows build environment, that help would greatly be appreciated. I could of course get the website and OP updated accordingly and promptly.

You do not need a wallet to mine, no. When you pool mine, you are actually mining from the pool's wallet.

Dallas1971 contacted me on LinkedIn and I explained that the bits of mining code cause his AV to raise an alarm. AV software will do this because some software will try to trick you and mine without your knowledge. Of course, Donationcoin does not mine without your knowledge, but contains similar bits that do raise the same alarm because it can mine.

The delisting did come as a surprise. Cryptopia has said it is a final decision and will not allow us time to meet any requirement(s).

Our mining farm has no sCrypt ASICS at all, and as DonationCoin being a CWI Partner Coin, we have the Citrine Mine for it (in the previous post), but no ASIC's to cover some of the hashrate unfortunately.

If anyone wants to donate some powerful ASIC systems, please send us the equipment (even if at our delivery cost within reason) and we will put them up when get them onsite in theFARM.
