Title: [ANN][XMR] One Click Monero Miner
Post by: superresistant on May 17, 2014, 07:53:23 PM

One Click Monero Miner

The idea is to be able to mine Monero in one click without any knowledge in cryptocurrency.

Is this coin worth mining

Is this coin worth mining

Really worth it IMO.

Last trade was 0.00113990 for 1 monero
It sometime goes up to 0.002 per monero

It has only been added to one small exchange :
https://cryptonote.exchange.to/market/mro/btc

If it get on a big exchange, expect the price to skyrocket.

The pool mining just started few hours ago, so you are an early miner if you come now.

The main thread is here :

Monero is a brand new crypto that you can only mine with your CPU.
Because it is the beginning, it is very lucrative and you can make decent money.
Here is how to do...

A - HOW TO MINE

1 ) Download the miner here :
https://mega.co.nz/#!mFAFwAxD!vDJUDv7pbAWODm_iq4yc_dmbNYxeVp7mh_3QhpuWthw (https://mega.co.nz/#!mFAFwAxD!vDJUDv7pbAWODm_iq4yc_dmbNYxeVp7mh_3QhpuWthw)

2 ) Extract the zip file somewhere.

3 ) Open the folder.

4 ) Open simplewallet.exe

http://i.snag.gy/T3mKa.jpg

5 ) Name your wallet in simplewallet. For example mywallet

6 ) Type the command : address in simplewallet to see your address.
or simply exit simplewallet and open the file mywallet.address.txt that has been created when you named your wallet.

7 ) Copy your address.

8 ) Create a new text file with a right click in the monero folder.

http://i.snag.gy/sM191.jpg

9 ) Write the command :
C:\path_to_simpleminer\simpleminer.exe --pool-addr=monero.crypto-pool.fr:5555 --login=your_address_here --pass x

http://i.snag.gy/v7Mkw.jpg
Be sure that you use monero.crypto-pool.fr:5555 as a pool because some other pools doesn't have payout setup yet !

10 ) Save the text as launch.bat
or simply exit and save then rename your text file with .bat extension.

http://i.snag.gy/7YjL9.jpg

11 ) Click on the launch.bat to start mining

If the bat file doesn't work, you can open a command prompt, paste the command and press ENTER.

http://i.snag.gy/ppBEX.jpg

http://i.snag.gy/0O0by.jpg

You must open one instance per thread. If you have 4 threads, open 4 times the launch.bat.

B - HOW TO CHECK STATS

To see your mining stats, go to monero.crypto-pool (http://monero.crypto-pool.fr/)

Paste your address

http://i.snag.gy/vUjaP.jpg

C - HOW TO CHECK WALLET

To check your wallet, open bitmonerod.exe

Wait for bitmonerod to sync.
You'll notice that it can take hours so if you don't want to wait, exit bitmonerod and download the blockchain here :
https://mega.co.nz/#!LZBz0Agb!DSx6UV1FzVoQypseSGLRaEoBbrKehWZaSRqoNZnnGVQ (https://mega.co.nz/#!LZBz0Agb!DSx6UV1FzVoQypseSGLRaEoBbrKehWZaSRqoNZnnGVQ)

Extract the blockchain in the folder
C:\Users\you\AppData\Roaming\bitmonero (Replace you by the name of the current user on windows)
http://i.snag.gy/Ak8f6.jpg

Keep bitmonerod open and open simplewallet.exe

Type refresh to refresh the wallet

Type balance to check your balance after a refresh

Type save to save your balance

Type exit to save and exit simplewallet

http://i.snag.gy/wgYqc.jpg

If you don't wait for bitmonerod to sync, simplewallet will tell you Error: refresh failed: daemon is busy. Please try later. Blocks received: 0

Always type exit to leave bitmonerod or the blockchain will not be saved.

How do I add old wallet to simple wallet? Thank you ☻

How do I add old wallet to simple wallet? Thank you ☻

If you had coin on an other wallet before, open your old wallet and send coins to an other address.

To transfer coin, type :

transfer 0 49VrFgi46HdWu9upDevUibfhnRCGrJxJr8pdu9sE9VPeAiWkiLEFPjkCWdQSng8TQJLExrxB8d8FnQG ZJJFv1NXvVV6FF4b 10

write always transfer 0, no need of putting higher numbers

49VrFgi46HdWu9upDevUibfhnRCGrJxJr8pdu9sE9VPeAiWkiLEFPjkCWdQSng8TQJLExrxB8d8FnQG ZJJFv1NXvVV6FF4b is the address I want to send coins

at the end, 10 is the quantity of monero I want to send

I am wondering about the zero. In the white paper it says it is set to min automatically.  So is zero necessary. Also how do you set payment I'd or message. As in thank you with the payments

hello and thank you very much for this guide. I have a big prob though, I generate wallet/address, everything but when I open my wallet it says with red letters: error:wallet failed to connect to daemon localhost18081. I got it to sync one time(deleted wallet and started all over though). I hit refresh to sync blockchain but it just wont. Any ideas? ty!

The wallet is generated in the same folder as simplewallet.exe unless you specify it. You must do a backup of the wallet files in case it go corrupted or deleted.

The block chain is not located in that folder. It should be located in :
C:\Users\you\AppData\Roaming\bitmonero (Replace you by the name of the current user on windows)

bitmonerod.exe have to download the whole blockchain otherwise simplewallet.exe cannot see your balance.

Contrary to what people think, having botnets is the sign that a crypto is successful.
Botnets are not free, it is a time and high knowledge investment to develop botnet miners and spread them.
If you were a Botnet programmer, you wouldn't waste your time on Monero.

Personally, I don't think that there are botnets yet on Monero.
The high difficulty is due to big cloud CPU farm, I've seen some people on #monero IRC that had about 100 CPU but still, it is not for free and they wouldn't mine if it wasn't profitable.

I have opened 3 instances in my 4 core  intel i5. Is it normal for hasrate to fluctuate? Ive seen 40 h/s and its dropping. I dont know why. I am using my pc but generally not stressing it, just browsing, facebook, or just viewing a livestream, not much. Maybe its the usage and the priority?

Last but not least, I tried opening simpleminer with same commands in another PC, using same address, but it never launched. I guess I have to do same steps setting up a wallet, instead of just running it? I mean synchronizing to network before mining

The hashrate you see on the pool stats is just an estimate, it is approximate and vary but your real hashing should be stable.
If you are using your internet connection a lot, it can affect the connection with the pool.
If your CPU usage goes high, it can affect the mining. If 2 instance of simpleminer.exe are using 50% of CPU, your margin will be 50%. Anytime you'll use over 50%, it will lower the mining hashrate.

When you use the pool, you don't need to download the blockchain. It is only used to check your wallet balance and send your coins from simplewallet.exe

Simpleminer.exe doesn't open with a click. You must use a command line in a bat file or in a command prompt (try the other technique if one doesn't work).
The same exact command will not work on other computer because the path to simpleminer.exe is different from a computer to an other.
In the path there is the name of the user's folder and because we all have a different computer's name, all paths will be different.

I am fairly sure I have set the bat with the correct path, its the bat im using that gets shut down from some reason idk. Ofc I could double check the path even though I have already :/ .

I guess I will try the second method from cmd as well

Mining sending ~80 H/sec to pool. only worry is pool has yet to find block
 Block Found: Never

I'll let it go another 10-12 hrs.

Sample of my bat file

Code:
D:\Miners\Monero\simpleminer.exe --pool-addr=monero.crypto-pool.fr:5555 --login=48w9kMmBEPVRgsVdUTMmd6J4uZkz97AhdHGneHZ7veycPq8dn4UXP1RY3AUavzGBRGbA9jsqcig5zjDvUnuSvvzD3o2tuSQ --pass x

Well done. Before the mining pool was setup it was taking 4 days on average for me to find a single block while solo mining.
Now the difficulty has increased a lot so it take some time even with the mining pool.
Nothing is lost we just have to wait. If more people/more computers could come it would be faster.

I have 9 small servers (VPS) on Linux. Each is hashing about 10 hash/sec.
No idea what kind of CPU it is.

EDIT :
UPDATE : Advanced batch use for advanced users (see first post).

The price has reached 0.005 on Poloniex today.

It has increased by over 5 times in 24h while hitting the first big exchange.

The next big exchange will also have a huge increase in price.

It is really worth it to mine despite the high difficulty. The more people on the pool the more chances to get block so come on.

Hello.
How I can copy and paste in my wallet ?
Thanks for answer.

just started today, when you run the simple wallet it will generate and ask if you want to set a password.

it should create a file called address.adresss.txt file where the simple wallet lives.

where your address is, address is longer then your standard altcoin.

you will also have to run bitmonerod.exe in order to create folders in your %appdata%bitmonero folder

When mining you don't need to open the wallet or bitmonerod. Only simpleminer but you have to open one instance per thread.

Any chance of re-uploading blockchain to another location? Seems like it's broken on mega

Are you sure this doesn't work ?

One question.
Does launch.bat need your wallet's password where it says password = x

Is that a dumb question?

I left it as an X and the miner seems to be working. It says "Share submitted successfully" every now and then.

When does the pool payout?

I was mining when a block was found but it doesn't say that I've been paid anything.

Noob questions I know.

does not need wallet password, password can be anything - just need your wallet address.

From my experience - blocks dont get paid till its confirmed.... ie say pool found block 100, but coin requires 100 confirms... so payout wont happen till someone finds block 201. etc

dont expect payouts to be huge as diff is high and hashrate is low. For 200hs for around 14hrs mining - my payout was 1.5 MRO

It is a good coin to start and learn mining.

No, the password can be anything but it must be something. It is the way the miner was written, it need a password so just put x.

The pool payout asap.
In rare case the block can be orphaned, we will not get paid. It happen when at least two people claim the same block but only one can be chosen.
When the pool find a block, it cannot send the transaction straight because the new block must be confirmed many times. You need to wait.

So, total crypto-amateur here. Just set up my extra desktop to mine, http://monero.crypto-pool.fr/ (http://monero.crypto-pool.fr/) is telling me I'm getting a hash rate of around 40-60 H/sec. I've been running it for a couple hours now and haven't seen any payout.

Am I wasting my time?

Nothing is wasted. As soon as you start mining, the pool server record your address and keep track of how much you contribute.
You get paid when a block is found and confirmed multiple times.

The more people on the pool the more regularly you get paid.
Blocks need to not be orphaned and confirmed.
Check this page for informations : http://monero.crypto-pool.fr/#pool_blocks (http://monero.crypto-pool.fr/#pool_blocks)

can i use directly the wallet from the exchange when mining?

I don't think so. The exchange need to know who send the coins but if you send directly from the pool there is no way to know who send it.
Most of the time, exchanges use a common address for all incoming transaction and then credit your account.
You may ask the exchange staff directly.

Of course.

Yes. You have 8 or 16 threads depending if your CPU is one core/one thread or one core/two threads.
So it is 8 or 16 instances you should try.
Check the pool hashspeed with your address to find the best combination.

Try opening more commands.
If you have 4 cores, try opening 8 command line.
If you have 6 cores, try opening 12 command line.
And so on...

Once it's done, check your hashrate for few minutes on the pool. The hashrate will fluctuate, it is normal because it is an approximation.

Thank you so much for this tutorial...

I'm having a problem with minerd.exe and have also tried cryptonote miner.

simpleminer seems to work fine.

minerd.exe opened with the correct .bat in the same folder gives a "HTTP request failed" and "json_rpc_call failed".
running the .bat edited just as in your tutorial with my address and threads specifies opens a window that immediately closes.

cryptonoteminer seems to work, slowly, but between reports of really low hashes and speeds from each thread I get this error every 30 seconds or so: "Stratum connection failed. Could not resolve host stratum+tcp"

You can send MRO to any address from any wallet you control but if you sent to an unknown address you cannot get it back.

Somewhere around 0.25
I've been using an AMD APU A8-3850 Quadcore 2.9gz and that's about what I could get. H/s rate was anywhere from 30-60 H/s. Still debating whether I should turn it off and continue switch to some cloud computing.

Another question is inside vallet there is "solo mining" and "pool mining" with also this pool address, cant be this done from there? or why is that there?

I'm having trouble with the wallet, I'd appreciate some insight.

1) I followed OP's tutorial to install the wallet. When I open CryptoNoteWallet.exe for the first time, it shows me the "Open Wallet" dialog and I click New, type in a name, and create it. Then it shows me another dialog window saying "Enter password", with a "Login" button. The question is, what password is it asking for, and where does it want me to log into? To the wallet I have just created? This dialog is very confusing because it doesn't have two password fields (as expected when you want to *create* a new password), but only one... and it says "Login". Please clarify what this password field does.

2) After typing in a new/generated password, it opened the daemon and started downloading the blockchain. So far so good, it finished fairly quickly and now it says "Status: Ready" to the bottom left. Now I closed the daemon without doing anything else, and later I opened it again because I wanted to send some MRO to the wallet. But now I get the exact same valilla "Open Wallet" dialog again - no wallet is in the dropdown list! All I can do is create a new one again and define a password again. Where did the wallet go that I created the first time around?

3) Repeat (2) over and over - it simply does not save my wallet. I have to create a new one each time I start the software. By now, I think I have 8 ghost wallets lying around somewhere on my hard drive... all with the same name, lol. Where did they all go?

Obviously I'm not convinced that sending any amount of MRO to this wallet software is a good idea right now... if it keeps forgetting my wallet, I'd just be sending the funds into a black hole.

Any thoughts?

when i open CryptoNoteWallet, i get in slider name of valet i created, when first opened it, and have to write password i selected. But yesterday had problems open more then one valet. it was so late i probably miss saw something. All Valets you make are in folder where you extracted ziped wallet. This morning i just delete all and unpacked fresh wallet there and then open .exe and make fresh wallet with pass. and now works.
Thinking about it now, maybe was reason wallet was not saved. read somewhere it save when you close it. But this is just a thought of a noob.

Thanks Febo, I'll try that next.

In the meantime, I found simplewallet.log. Might help with debugging. These are the last few rows:

Code:
2014-May-26 14:30:23.757439 bitmonero wallet v0.8.8.1.1(0.1-g3b887de)
2014-May-26 14:30:42.909534 ERROR ..\..\src\wallet\wallet2.cpp:443 boost::filesystem::exists(m_wallet_file, ignored_ec). THROW EXCEPTION: error::file_exists

2014-May-26 14:30:42.910534 ERROR ..\..\src\simplewallet\simplewallet.cpp:1053 Failed to initialize wallet

A couple observations:
  • ..\..\ normally references two directories up, but that would be C:\ in this case... not really sure what that is referring to
  • C:\Program is cut off - I extraced everything to C:\Program Files\Monero\. Does this mean the software can't handle blank spaces in files or folders? Should I move it somewhere else? #feelslikedos

^ After much trial and error, I managed to get it to work. It looks like my assumption was correct and the space character in the "Program Files" folder name was the culprit.

When it was still in Program Files, no wallet files were ever created. I now moved/unzipped all files to another folder without any spaces in its name, and voilà, it works great!

If this is a bug and this is not the right place to post it, please let me know where to report it, I'd be happy to do so.

superresistant, maybe you'll want to add this information to the OP for the time being too? Could help save a few folks some headaches.

OK, i found where was mistake. The first post should be edited with new pool-addr=monero.crypto-pool.fr:1111
Another question is inside vallet there is "solo mining" and "pool mining" with also this pool address, cant be this done from there? or why is that there?
Thx for your answers in advance, sure many are to come.

There is two possible protocol for pool mining :

http protocol
monero.crypto-pool.fr:1111
or
stratum protocol
stratum+tcp://monero.crypto-pool.fr:6666

The best is stratum but if it doesn't work, you can use the http protocol.

Thanks for the information ! I could not understand why it didn't work.

I'll update now.

I mean error 18081

The client didn't synchronise or is not running.
You need to download the full blockchain before using the wallet and the application need to be running in the background (you need to be connected).
Try reopening the wallet. Wait 10 min before doing anything when the client is synchronised.

Glad I could help!

On a different note, is it normal for the balance to remain unconfirmed for very long? After the first transaction I sent to the wallet, it was unconfirmed (and Balance=0), as expected. Then after maybe 10-20 minutes the Balance updated to the right amount as well, but "unconfirmed" didn't go back to 0... it's still showing the same amount as the Balance. It has been a couple hours now.

Should "unconfirmed" not go back to 0 at some point?

what kind of hash rates are you guys getting? list CPU model, speed, etc if you can.
thank you

This list is based on Bytecoin but it use a similar technology so the differences should be the same :

I don't know why it doesn't refresh after 10min. It should get back to normal after a time but if it doesn't, I suggest to re-open.

Maybe the confirmation take longer than what we think.

The path should not have space in it : Scar Face (space between Scar and Face)

Try the old tutorial :

C - HOW TO CHECK WALLET

To check your wallet, open bitmonerod.exe

Wait for bitmonerod to sync.
You'll notice that it can take hours so if you don't want to wait, exit bitmonerod and download the blockchain here :
https://mega.co.nz/#!LZBz0Agb!DSx6UV1FzVoQypseSGLRaEoBbrKehWZaSRqoNZnnGVQ (https://mega.co.nz/#!LZBz0Agb!DSx6UV1FzVoQypseSGLRaEoBbrKehWZaSRqoNZnnGVQ)

Extract the blockchain in the folder
C:\Users\you\AppData\Roaming\bitmonero (Replace you by the name of the current user on windows)
http://i.snag.gy/Ak8f6.jpg

Keep bitmonerod open and open simplewallet.exe

Type refresh to refresh the wallet

Type balance to check your balance after a refresh

Type save to save your balance

Type exit to save and exit simplewallet

http://i.snag.gy/wgYqc.jpg

If you don't wait for bitmonerod to sync, simplewallet will tell you Error: refresh failed: daemon is busy. Please try later. Blocks received: 0

Always type exit to leave bitmonerod or the blockchain will not be saved.

You should see the blockchain download progression if it is not complete and then you should be able to use the wallet (exept the log tab).

Do you have a firewall ? If one port is blocked then the app cannot work and stay stuck.

So stratum protocol, can also work with simpleminer?

Batch file command line should be?:
C:\Monero\simpleminer.exe --pool-addr=stratum+tcp://monero.crypto-pool.fr:6666 --login=47mqJC8hHQ65TmSiDnKN9scsqtKzTwQLLLroTboyKtHsR69m6BGYsA1ZkeTWguqzr59tbnJ3GrKjphSWUdQ8XW8kRf8bYmJ --pass x

or i typed pool address wrong?

Another question is, about threads. I think my computer have 4 chores. i5-2320 @ 3.00GHz  So i should run batch file 4 times, for best performance, to have mining running in 4 cmd windows?

I can't figure out the right commands to use for cpumulti... I've been adding and removing all kinds of things and I can only get it go as far as binding the threads, attempting hashes, but then "failing to connect to stratum".

Opening a launch.bat immediately closes, so I've been using cmd.

Is anyone successfully using cpumulti on a win 64bit that can share their command line?

Paste your command line in a text editor and check if there is no space in the path to minerd.
C:\itmustnothaveanyspace\minerd.exe

If it doesn't work try the simpleminer.exe

Read the thread, all explanations are here.

Hmm not yet but it would be easy to adapt the GUI to 32 bits.

This is mine command line in batch file. I was also getting lots of "failing to conect to stratom" . Just now started working :)
C:\Monero\cpuminer\minerd.exe -a cryptonight -o stratum+tcp://monero.crypto-pool.fr:6666 -u 47mqJC8hHQ65TmSiDnKN9scsqtKzTwQLLLroTboyKtHsR69m6BGYsA1ZkeTWguqzr59tbnJ3GrKjphS WUdQ8XW8kRf8bYmJ -p x -t 4

So as i understand harsh rate is all that matters and on this page, http://monero.crypto-pool.fr/ ,  when you put your address you see it? Whatever change that boost hash rate there is good and that decrease it is bad? Or i should monitor it elsewhere?
If i log off when block is find, do i still get my part for the time while i was adding hashes to the pool or not?

Yes, the more hashrate the better. The hashrate on the pool may vary because it is an approximation.

You can disconnect anytime from the pool, you get paid when a block is find and confirmed multiple times even if you don't mine any more.

Do you have the lastest Monero files ?

There is a mandatory update now (see above).

Are you using the GUI wallet or simplewallet ?

On simplewallet, always type 'save' and 'exit' before leaving or it won't save the blockchain.
On the GUI wallet I don't know.

I've withdrawn Monero from the Cryptonote-exchange site to my Cryptnote (GUI) wallet but it's still not showing up? It's been around 10 hours now. The status is ready. I used the address under the 'Wallet' tab, copied it to the clipboard and used that address for the money to be deposited into.

It's been 24 hours. Cryptonote has already processed the withdrawal. I used the exact same address used in the GUI wallet under the 'wallet' tab for the money to be deposited to. What's going on?

I've even tried checking the simplewallet.exe but the address on it is different to the cryptonotewallet.exe. Is there another way of checking the address? I'm pretty sure I've done everything correct so I can't figure out why the money isn't showing?  Is it corrupted?

I'd appreciate any help

It is always worth it if you already have a CPU doing nothing.

You get paid for you work even if it's small, even if you stop before the pool find a block.

Don't expect to get rich, the coin is hard to mine for everyone.

I can't still get this thing working. Why update to something unusable? It was working fine before this update.

I tried using simple wallet too and it just turns off immediately.

Hello everyone,

We've been working hard with my friend to improve the pool : http://monero.crypto-pool.fr

We'll find much more block, the orphaned block rate will be much lower, the payment will be more regular.

Let's hash !!

How long does it take the wallet to sync? It is just saying initializing. I am using the Cryptonote wallet

I am having same problem since I updated. It says initializing with 0 peers for connection. Could someone help?

I can't still get this thing working. Why update to something unusable? It was working fine before this update.

I tried using simple wallet too and it just turns off immediately.
This seems to be what causes the error.

Thanks for the update.

For everyone, the blockchain can get corrupted. In this case you just need to re-download.

Also, please keep a backup of your wallet files. Copy the 3 files of your wallet in an other folder (or maybe an other computer/USB key).

a) Check the GUI wallet thread if there is any update or try an other GUI wallet (there are many projects).

b) Try the alternative method with simplewallet.exe

Read the thread, everything was answered.

This version is for recent AMD videocards only: 7xxx and 2xx. No nVidia support.

So will not work on NVIDIA graphic cards?

No I'm sorry. nVidia & AMD are totally different.
It will be supported later.

Right now, CPU and GPU are equal so you can mine with a CPU for a while.

yes, but only if your cpu has aes-ni and you are using the number of cores (not threads) to mine.

i have 4770k that means my cpu have aes-ni?

I am trying to have one wallet for mining and other for trading. i heard that is best, so since i throw all Monero things i got in one folder, is a bit messy. I wonder which files are of my miningWallet. Maybe?

MiningWallet.bin
MiningWallet.bin.address.txt
MiningWallet.bin.keys

So to make new Wallet i just temporary move this 3 files out and will let me make new Wallet? Or i should do something else?

I am sorry but the dev doesn't want to reveal the source code.
There is no binaries for Linux now.
You could try to use Wine on Linux to launch the miner.

There are always 3 wallet files for one wallet. You can keep as many wallet as you want in the same folder if you have a different name per wallet.
Keep a copy of theses files in an other folder to have a backup in case something goes wrong !

Update : Apparently the new version 1.1 (https://mega.co.nz/#F!e4JVEAIJ!l1iF4z10fMyJzY5-LnyC2A) of the GPU miner support stratum protocol. Please have a try :

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
C:\path_to_miner\NsGpuCNMiner.exe -o stratum+tcp://monero.crypto-pool.fr:6666 -u your_monero_address -p x

Example :

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
C:\Download\monero\NsGpuCNMiner.exe -o stratum+tcp://monero.crypto-pool.fr:6666 -u 45s2fuN8aYsJhigPf5A8GuWS46vVSHj9HE5fc665zsWR3ycoXHnP713Mr7xEw8c9i5dzNe3esQehJJZ nWN2mmuvYDUWYTfT -p x

Stratum protocol is much better so if it work, you must use it.

Really ? What card are you using ?
The speed that you see on the pool is only an approximation so I don't think that it is lower.
Or maybe it depend of the card.

Until now I don't think so. You need the 3 files.
Ask on the main Monero (XMR) thread to be sure.

But in any case you must wait some times before seeing stats.
The stats are calculated based on what you send to the pool during a period of time.

Try the plug-in AnonymoX to change your IP to see if it's a IP problem.

Yes but it is very different from mining on Windows or buying hash on a website.
You must use a VPS with Linux and connect through SSH.
No GUI, all actions in command line mode.

Any VPS with Linux Ubuntu can be suitable.

Look for VPS list / VPS comparison.

The most used are Amazon, Windows Azure, Digital Ocean, Linode, ...

You must have some knowledge or find some tutorial if you want to mine but that's the most effective way.

Aren't VPS all about bandwidth and storage not performance?? Maybe I'd give it a shot, but cheapest hosting of 4 x opteron 6272 is $700 / month. It's much cheaper to buy at this rate. Do you have any recommends on high performance hosting?

Today the Monero network is really slow to confirm blocks. There was also and update of the main wallet.

There is 2 blocks that has been delayed to be pay.

Don't worry nothing is lost. I'll pay them manually later.

You are right.
VPS never advertise or give informations about the CPU performance because VPS are not supposed to be used to mine CPU coins.
It doesn't matter the price of the hosting.
It only matter what you pay and what you get at the end.
You can pay $700 for 4 x opteron 6272 but you could also pay $700 for 80 cheap VPS.
You can multiply instances of VPS infinitely is you use a metric billing (you pay for what you use and not for a particular server).
The best VPS to use is a secret kept by VPS miners.
I can give you some hint by PM if you ask.

No transactions from the pools are coming through since the last 24h  ::) I see some Tx verification failed errors also....

A fucking retarded hacker was DDOSing the pool for hours.

It stopped now.

We're going to implement the first DDOS protection for Monero pool.

We are actively fixing the code for this to stop.

Ok, Nice to hear that and thanks for the quick reply.
You mentioned earlier about doing some manual payouts. I am also missing about 30XMR from yesterday - was the payout system compromised too and all the payouts have to be done manually now ?

30 XMR ? That's impressive. What is your hashing speed ?

Let me check the status of payment and balances...

I think it's 27XMR actually to be more precise :P The pool is showing total paid out @ 59xmr but I have only got 32XMR. My hashing speed is between 18-20Khash.

That's quite surprising but if it works better for you, keep using the http.
You have to know that the http can miss more shares than stratum resulting in lower payout.

If everything is ok with pool, Stratum must work better, but not much, may be 3% better for GPU miner since for http miner checks new job every 5 seconds and GPU round time is about 3 seconds (original simpleminer checks new job only every 20 seconds). For CPU miner Stratum must work better by about 5% than http since round time is very small.

You are both right.
After a checking accounts and addresses we found that 8 addresses have missing XMR.
Please wait, we have to check again to be sure and we will process the payment manually ASAP.
Nothing was lost. No need to panic.

I have been hashing at monero.crypto-pool.fr for a couple days @ 1.3Khash.  For the last 24hours I have only received ~0.2XMR to my wallet.  I think something is definately wrong, with that hashrate I should be ~4-6XMR/day

Hi, thanks for the guide and pool. I'm mining with 6 x 290, catalyst 13.12 stable no OC at 2.5MH. Only 13.12 works, otherwise immediate driver crash for me.

My problem is with the wallet not syncing. I get from Daemon "Failed to connect to any of seed peers, continuing without seeds". I let it run overnight, gui wallet shows "initializing" with 5-9 seeds. started monerod before wallet. No sync. The wallet was given an exception in the firewall.

What gives?

Thanks

Some users have problem with the GUI wallet because it was not updated.
I suggest to not use the GUI wallet for some time and use the official wallet.

Why pool says Total Paid: 2.680789223893 XMR, but in the wallet I don't see anything?
I'm a new miner on your pool. I need to wait? Or some thing wrong with my adress?

So,

I have two rigs, which according to the pool site should have been paid 4 XMR each for the last day. Wallet on one rig shows balance of 0.73 XMR only, the other 1.8 XMR.

monerod on both rigs shows a lot of failed txid verifications in red text - I suspect this is the main reason for wallets not showing the XMR. Rig with smaller balance says it has problem with mapping UPNP, otherwise no problems. Also, both daemons say in green that sync to blockchain is ok.

I am using the latest simplewallet as instructed, instead of the GUI one.

Why are some transaction id verifications not going through? Is this something with the pool or on my end? Or is the problem something else, like simplewallet and gui wallet being in the same folder and mixing up each others files? Or is the problem something else?

Thanks

Nobody is getting paid properly by monero.crypto-pool.fr.  There are numerous people that have confirmed no payments for the last day.

Strongly suggest anyone mining at monero.crypto-pool.fr find another pool promptly!

The pool admin has been inactive for 36 hours on the forums, and has stopped responding to e-mails - not a good sign.  Even if the pool starts paying again, I would never trust this admin again with my hashing power...

All payment has been made. Some people will get a bit more as a gift.
Can everyone tell if any payment is still missing ?

The new payment system is operational.
It pays every 3 hours. This solve the dust transaction problem for everyone on the pool.
It also reduce the pool charge allowing more people to mine and reducing lagg.

EDIT : yes it is about the monero.crypto-pool.fr
I don't know about the wallet yet. I have many things to check, I didn't had Internet for 48h.

You haven't been mining for 18 hours so it is normal that you don't get payment for 18 hours.
For the payment before that, you must have a problem with your wallet.

You haven't been mining for 18 hours so it is normal that you don't get payment for 18 hours.
For the payment before that, you must have a problem with your wallet.

???

How can you expect us to keep mining if the pool is not paying anything ???
So first it was the payment system and now it's the wallet ? How come every other pool works just fine ?
This is getting ridiculous....

Are you fcking kidding me ?
I told you 4 days ago that I have 27xmr missing and you said "yes some accounts are missing xmr's and these will be paid ASAP"

I dont know if you are just incompetent or a outright scammer but the above address is not the one I pasted to you in my previos posts.
I would definately STAY AWAY from this pool - Although lots of people are reporting missing funds you just keep finding excuses like "We are updating the payment system, your wallet isnt working, you havent mined for many days etc..."
My wallet is fine and I am not expecting anything for the last 4 days. I just want my 27xmr what I mined prior to 12th of June and was never paid.

No need to get angry.
I have no idea what happened to you. I just give you update about what I know. I am not doing any coding on this pool, I just do the communication.
Yes we are making a new payment system to pay every 3 hours.
My colleague was on trip for few days and he just came back.

I'll update as soon as I know what happened.

I'm closing the pool then.

Update : About 1/3 of transactions from last 4 days are missing. I understand why some people got angry.
The wallet reached the max capacity to send transactions.
My friend is actively looking for a fix. We are not going to give up the pool.

So does this mean that we will all get paid eventually? I would love to put my mining power back on this pool as it seems it is very good at solving blocks for its size.

Right, so we found the main problem : we were sending some transactions without the new minimum fees. An update solved this part.
But we found an other problem : the wallet file got too big recently, over 128Mo. It tends to make the wallet crash. We start over from a clean backup file and see if it works better.

I see, there must be a problem in your mining address or wallet files.

Look on the main thread here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.0
Go to Source and binaries

Download the latest files for the wallet.

Synchronise. Do a refresh in the wallet.

Have tried 64bit and 32bits version to compare ?

It could be a port problem. You must allow the software in your firewall.

It seems something got corrupt as the same wallet on another rig was doing the same thing. Erased everything (including %appdata%) and installed a fresh copy and seems to be working now.
Also got all my missing payments from http://monero.crypto-pool.fr/# (http://monero.crypto-pool.fr/#)  ;) Best place to mine so pointed my miners back (Y)

I would not say that my pool is protected because that would be an incentive for pirates to attack the pool and I don't want it.
With the actual technology, no pool can be 100% protected. Anything can be taken down, it is only a matter of time and money.
We try to make the pool more resilient at every level to discourage attackers.

As the pool bet bigger I'll make a separate thread and a second separate server will be launched soon.

Please discuss what you would like to see in a GPU miner similar to Claymore's excellent miner :)

Greetings all,

I'm having an issue (or simply my lack of understanding) whereby I am unable to send XMR to another address.  As a test, I have sent a single XMR to a particular address (including a payment id).  This transfer went through flawlessly.  Upon further attempts to send the remaining XMR, however, I continually see the following error in the simplewallet.log file:

THROW EXCEPTION: error::not_enough_outs_to_mix

The command has the default UI transfer parameters with a mixin count of 2.  The command is:

transfer 2 <wallet address> NNNN <payment_id>

Following the click of the "Send" button, the interface just sits there (it is still responsive with the "Send" button greyed out).

Any insight and steps to correct would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all.

Edit: Attempted with a mixin count of 0 as a test and while the above error no longer appear in the log, the transfer does not go through

Hi,

It is simple : you cannot send 100% of the coins in a wallet because you need to pay fees.

This should work :

transfer 0 <wallet address> NNNN <payment_id>

Hello,
I have switch to the command line wallet (after gui wallet, since you were suggesting this was part of the problem) and I think there are about 5 xmr unpaid on your side.
My address : 43B1yuNxZSnHYXJSZFM2GxewTUW3rnzrhJbua8M1C4otZ1k6UxeSKzE9xu8UqfBf9bXfqW8Cya2ivAb awapoDRpaJKcCcEn
Could you have a look please?

No problem. PM'ed.

Thanks, I think I have received the missing coins this morning.

Thank you for the reply superresistant.  I will try to send less than what's in my wallet when I get home.  This makes perfect sense though.  Thanks again.

I have now attempted to send about 80% of the contents of my wallet to a different address.  The "not_enough_outs_to_mix" mix error no longer appears in the log, however, the funds never make it out.  Following the send command, the log shows the following error:

THROW EXCEPTION: error::tx_too_big
2014-Jun-19 22:30:59.303680 c:\temp\monero\git-experimental\bitmonero-0.8.8update-x64\src\wallet\wallet2.h:415:struct tools::error::tx_too_big: transaction is too big, tx_size_limit = 24400, tx size = 60174

If anyone has any ideas as to what's up, do shed some light on this.  Appreciate everyone's time.  Thanks all.

Edit: Played around with the amount being sent and found that if I send just over half of the coins in my wallet, the size limit error goes away.  The transaction still fails however, as per the deamon returning a "Failed" status.  I'll keep digging; thanks for looking everyone.

I just did a erasall of wallet.bin to reinitialize all transaction history of my wallet, I still the same problem. I really miss someting like 12 XMR.

Have you tried to send smaller transactions? If you have had a bunch of small incoming transactions then you will have to send out the coins in smaller batches.

Marcus is probably right. I've had this issue also. I'm mining small amounts of XMR at a time (.02 or less) so if I try to send 5-10 XMR it's so many small amounts it overflows. it's trying to send from 250-1000 transactions and it's just too many

Sending 2-3 works for me

It is a totally new technology.
Bitcoin was a piece of shit at the beginning. Worst wallet that XMR now.
I think people are too impatient. This is not an altcoin, it's a paradigm shift.

Devs are doing a pretty good work, there some bugs but it works. If you want to speed up things you can participate in improving the code or make a donation to devs to say "hey, I appreciate what you are doing, please continue".

i had saved copies of password on offline drives, however as i tried to open my old wallet with the old and correct password it keeps saying invalid password
am i missing something?
i did the same update of quazarcoin with no issues it worked perfectly
thanks for all your help

Be sure that you are opening the right wallet.
Look for all the wallet files on your computer.
The old GUI wallet is definitely not working anymore.
You must use the normal wallet or the new GUI wallet from Jojatekok (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=199483;sa=showPosts).
You can open a wallet by opening the key files instead of the bin files. It'll re-scan all transactions.

It can be done for sure with simplewallet.
In order to use simplewallet, bitmonerod but be launched and synchronized too.

i havent changed or misplaced the password... so if i cant access my wallet due to this invalid passwrod error how can i rescan in simple wallet?

When you open a wallet you must be sure that you typed the whole name file with the extension like : "wallet.bin"

The password cannot change, you may forgot it or it is not the same wallet you try to open.

i have done that wallet.bin, and that wallet was the only wallet i had in general, and i made sure to have that password saved as i know how important it is, i took all precautions so i dont understand why its still invalid

You can brute-force or do a dictionary attack on it.
How many characters exactly ? Did you use numbers ? High capital letters ? Special symbols ?

i used a password 20 characters long... the first 4 characters and last four characters are numbers... and the other 12 characters inbetween are lower case ...

what would be the best way to hack?

20 characters long? Best way to hack is to ask FBI and NSA politely to give you all their ressources. I'm afraid you lost your coins. ALWAYS write the password on a paper, on a tatoo, on your ass, on your toilet paper, in your car, in the shower, everywhere if you plan to have a lot of money under a passworded wallet.

Nothing worse than loosing your money because you forgot your password.

Sometimes it's more risky to activate security than to take the risk being robbed lol. so be very cautious with crypto and password encrypted wallet : write it down, always.

and make copy of the wallet.dat in 5 usb stick, all your computers, and in all avaible external drives you might have.

Repeat every month.

yeah i know i'm paranoid  8)

Wow... 20 characters long, I'm afraid but we do not have the necessary hardware to break this.
Unless you know exactly some part of the password.
If you know the 12 chars in the middle, it may be possible.

But wait, is there a lot of money on it ? Because bruteforce password is not free !

I know that you can to it technicaly but the tools doesn't exist. You need to make an application that send password try to simplewallet.

Well if you don't know how to code that mean you have to pay someone to do and that could be expensive.

I opened my wallet (CryptoNote Wallet v0.2.1) and I get "Status: Can not connect to daemon"

Any ideas how to get the wallet going again?

I don't know what GUI wallet you use but you need to have all the files from the normal wallet.
Keep everything in one folder.

Be sure to be up-to-date for both normal wallet and GUI wallet. If you didn't update for some time, I am sure it is not gonna work. Check the GUI wallet thread for all updates and read.

Always have a backup of your personal wallet (the key files).

I followed your guide in op step by step. Everything ran fine until 7/7/14. I downloaded the exact gui wallet in the op except mine said "cryptonote wallet v0.2.1" instead of your "cryptonote wallet v0.1.5"

Even if I try and run the simple wallet, when I refresh I get an error message "Error: Wallet failed to connect to daemon (http://localhost:(port #). Daemon either is not started or passed wrong port. Please, make sure that daemon is running or restart the wallet with correct daemon address."

I have no idea how all of this happened.

There is no working GUI wallet exept this one :

If the wallet files are corrupted you can delete the .bin wallet file and open from the .keys file.

Finally figured it out.

AVG was blocking it from running but it didn't notify me about it.

Found it out by doing something else.

Hi everyone !
I decided to re-use this thread to release my One Click Monero Miner because it is related to.

One Click Monero Miner

The idea is to be able to mine Monero in one click without any knowledge in cryptocurrency.

I just finished the NVIDIA version :

-->Download the last version here<-- (https://mega.co.nz/#!m1klzBKZ!9gq8W48WcxXC82sPVl-cvrVR9vu1hcgJi9-FzhTMqvE)

If you have an antivirus, it will trigger a false positive. You must add an exception to run the miner.

The AMD version will come soon.
Please report any bug you find.
You are welcome to make suggestions.

Also, you can add a few more threads, because of processors with more cores.

Example:

It's 12 core CPU, but minning set to 10 threads cause of CPU temperature.

All right here is the fix with 10 threads max for the CPU and the correct address :

I just tried the miner for fun on Linux and it works if you have Wine installed.
I can only make it work for the CPU but I'm on a laptop.

Well I ran the program, I entered my address, it started hashing with 40kh/sec, but when I checked the address on the pool's website, it was saying 'not found'. I let it hash for a whole night and in the morning it showed still not found.....

What is the problem?!?

Thanks

Often when you copy/paste an address, it is cut with a space between some letters. It could be this so you have to look the address you paste on the website and remove any space between letters or at the beginning. Also check the address you've got on the miner if it is correct.

Yes I see you used https://moneropool.com/ in your logs.

Did you try :
-o stratum+tcp://xmr.crypto-pool.fr:3333
(instead of -o stratum+tcp://mine.moneropool.com:3333)
?

Try generating an other XMR address.

Also it is strange that you don't seems to find any share you need to submit at least one share to be registered on any pool.

CPU are too slow for mining but it works.

I've tried this a while back and have had trouble working the miner... so I just stuck to just purchasing XMR for the mean time, but now I want to get into running a full node and mining.  I was wondering if this would be profitable with a 10 year old Windows XP AMD Athlon 64 CPU?  If so, do I need to install Linux and learn command lines to learn how to run this kind of stuff?

If you mine Monero with GPUs, this thread might be of interest: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1207919

One Click Monero Miner

Hi superresistant,

Great idea. I dig the One-Click Monero Miner, I dig Monero, I dig the whole CryptoNote code concept.

I've been mining with the AMD version of your One-Click Monero Miner on a quad-core 64-bit box running Win 10. It seems to be working. (Image at bottom of post.)

Can you answer these 4 questions for me please?:

--Will it work with a online wallet? I'm using mymonero.com. (I wasn't able to get the Light Wallet working, even with simplewallet in the same directory, and the full wallet gets stuck downloading the Monero blockchain at about 90% for days now, so I closed it.)

--How long will it take to pay out some XMR? I've been running the One-Click Monero Miner for 7.5 hours. Was expecting to at least get some dust by now.

--Do you have the source code for the One-Click Monero Miner anywhere? I'd love to adapt it to some other CryptoNote coins. I saw about 40 pages back where someone asked for source code, but it seems like the answer was to the Monero source, not to the One-Click Monero Miner source.

--Avast flags the One-Click Monero Miner as a virus. Based on your trust level on here, I'm sure it's not. And I'm running it on a spare machine with no financial info or passwords (other than MyMonero). Is this just an issue of Avast?

Thank you for your service!
MWD

Are you saying you recommend that instead of One Click Monero Miner? Why? And can you answer my first 3 questions above for it?

Thank you,

--Will it work with a online wallet? I'm using mymonero.com. (I wasn't able to get the Light Wallet working, even with simplewallet in the same directory, and the full wallet gets stuck downloading the Monero blockchain at about 90% for days now, so I closed it.)

Yes it will work.

--How long will it take to pay out some XMR? I've been running the One-Click Monero Miner for 7.5 hours. Was expecting to at least get some dust by now.

I cannot tell. It depends if you reach the minimum payout and it depends on how often the pool do the payouts per day.
You can mine with multiple computers on the same address to accelerate the payout.

--Do you have the source code for the One-Click Monero Miner anywhere? I'd love to adapt it to some other CryptoNote coins. I saw about 40 pages back where someone asked for source code, but it seems like the answer was to the Monero source, not to the One-Click Monero Miner source.

I will send you via PM when I find it. It's on one of my laptop somewhere.
It will be easy for you to update and improve it.

--Avast flags the One-Click Monero Miner as a virus. Based on your trust level on here, I'm sure it's not. And I'm running it on a spare machine with no financial info or passwords (other than MyMonero). Is this just an issue of Avast?
Thank you for your service!

Avast will flag any CPU miner as a virus because there are a lot of virus that use the CPU to mine. It's normal, no worries.
If I was a hacker, I would not bother building a reputation.

Thank you so much for the quick answers!

A few follow-up questions:

--Do you run crypto-pool.fr?

--I'm using the default pool in the program. (crypto-pool.fr). I entered my MyMonero.com Monero address in your program before running your program. Will your program automatically put a payout in my MyMonero.com wallet when there's a payout, or do I have to do some action for it to pay out?

--Is the first payout to one computer connected to the crypto-pool.fr pool, with all defaults left in program (truly one-click), likely to be in the order of hours, days or weeks?

Looking forward to seeing what we can do with the source code on our end.

Thank you for your service!

Yes with perl (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=162198), he's the tech guy but he doesn't talk too much.

Nothing else to do, a Monero address is enough. If you think that your payout is taking too long, PM me your address, I'll have a look.

--Is the first payout to one computer connected to the crypto-pool.fr pool, with all defaults left in program (truly one-click), likely to be in the order of hours, days or weeks?

Well it really depends on your mining power. At the time I did the one click miner, the difficulty was much lower but nowadays mining is professional. Some miners got thousands of CPUs or hundreds of GPUs.

Looking forward to seeing what we can do with the source code on our end.
Thank you for your service!

I'm still looking for it. You're welcome.

Will this put a dent on my electricity bill? That is if I run 24/7.

Superresistant, I am in the process of building a GPU rig. The rig I am building consist of the following:

970 Pro Gaming/Aura ATX with 32GB
AMD FX 8320E 4GHz Processor
6 Radeon RX 480 8GB
250GB SSD
2 750W PSU

What operating system do you suggest I use and will the One Click Monero Miner work for this setup? Thanks!

Hello,

The development stopped long ago, you should use an updated miner for Monero.

6 RX480 is great, this is what I use on my rigs.
For the rest, you don't need a strong setup unless you plan on using it to play games.

@superresistant
 ??? :'( ??? :'(
Hey Man,

I hope we can get this thing working. I've been trying to break into the mining world for a week now with no luck. The only miner I can get to run reliably is the scam mining app for Windows 10 where if I'm lucky I make 1000 satoshis/day running an avg of 65 KH/s.

I had your seemingly boss program running and with an excellent KH/S.

The thing is, it kept turning off after busting 2-3 blocks (yays).

I wish I would have taken screencaps but this fruitless week has left me somewhat mining fatigued.
I've also uninstalled. I am writing this after a nap.

I ran the program maybe 5 times. It seemed to end randomly. A few lines down from the last mining info, the program information came up.

I am running the Nividia program. I guess you're going to need more info. I'll try and get some screenshots. Also, two program screens are coming up when I run the program.

Thank you for your help and your efforts.

Is it easy to mine monero on a computer?

Yes, it is easy, but, i would say it used to be easy. With the current difficulty and adding your electricity bill to it, i don't think it is viable any more in my opinion.

But there are may other crytonight algo coins available to mine in the market, i would suggest you to look at them (do your research) and pick a best one to mine.

If anyone is looking for a true "one-click" monero miner for CPU only, try this: http://xmrminer.org/

Mines straight to supportxmr.com with your address, no ads, no coin-hive "captcha", no coin-hive.com middle man
