A while back, there were exploits with KGW's code ( probabaly 4 months or so ), where durring a fork ( intentional change to the block chain for w/e reason ie. hot fixes sort of thing ), the block chain could be attacked. Altho not fond of the person, I believe BCX ( a known person in the alt coin world ), did this when AUR coin did their fork. From that time forward, I dont believe many have been using the KGW code , in its origional form, I have seen coins refer to 'their' version of KGW as somthing to the effect of 'updated' or 'revised' or some way of explaining that it is not the original code. Considering you can never be too cautious , one should anticipate that down the road, there is the possibility of forking the chain , to update, change, alter, improve. Not considering this would be an unwise , and highly unlikely scenario unless the con dev(s) only plan to make yet, another coin to 'have their way with'. Using hashing power to generate $$ to help causes is a good idea (and being done by other projects, blazecoin comes to mind). Maybe instead of the large premie and the fact that it is being in the possession of the devs maybe you could work with one of the exchanges to have any premie (lower %) sent to them and put in a slice of each block sent to the exchange.
This way you have full transparency as the exchange would have full tracking of the coins in and out. People could easily donate their coins by using an on exchange transfer and if the exchange deals in Fiat they could actually facilitate the exchange of the crypto to fiat for whoever is receiving the donation. Maybe they would even cut some of the fees if the $$ was going to a non profit as they could claim a biz tax deduction. This could also help keep the network healthy as the constant mining to get the block percentages would continue and there would transparency about the timining of the donation exchanges so that it doesn't look like a dump that may crush the price each time. Still on track for launch tomorrow? Any charities in mind? Another thought, and I mentioned this on some other coins, instead of just giving money to charity, kiva is another option. It's an investment in people to help themselves, also limited risk of loosing money. Like spending .01 BTC is a little over 6 bucks not a huge risk to most people, but can add up. I would have no problem doing a .01 BTC investment on this coin now that I am seeing you more active! Also obviously make the donation, even if under the monthly goal, no matter what and make the transaction of course public knowledge. As for finding trusted community members. Start small, while still a risk, you'll see if they follow through or not. Unless of course you know and trust someone already to give them a larger chunk. I normally avoid mentioning other coins, but considering it's only POS now won't take away from people mining. XxXcoin, completely different coin too, did the premine split and has worked out amazingly well. Started out with the devs and 2 community managers 50k each to the 2 the managers. This later expanded to what it is now the devs and 4 community managers and even more of the premine.. Again it has continued support from not only the managers, the devs, but also the whole community involved. Myself included. The thing that really made this work is of course having great community managers AND how open everyone was with where the premine was spent and making the wallet address known so anyone that wants to could see if any coin was moved. I think you mentioned you contacted some, but don't remember which or how you contacted them. I think silverduck mentioned that he would buy premine to help developed the coin. Not sure if raising money to get on an exchange is something he would consider developing and would be willing to do, but some, often smaller sties, you can buy votes to get listed. Then it left the coin again so now we have difficulties to solve the next block. I looked at all the ones I know of and didn't see it on any of them. There are of course more than I know of. I have had success asking multipools to remove a coin when it causes serious problems. So if you can tell me I will be happy to message them. So this doesn't happen again.
It's been 2 days now. I pointed some extra hash, but I'm sorry had to remove them. I can't afford to keep them pointed and not make anything at it. It does cost me money to hash. I'll try point my miners back to you when I can. I still support your effort, but it's no good if I can't pay my electric bill :) As for KGW there are a patch or 2 for exploits. I didn't have a lot of time to look up everything as I was planning. Been having a couple really bad days. KGW can get "stuck on a block", but never seen it last anywhere close to 2 days like this has. There are other protections against multipools like Digishield. I'm not a coder, but I think changing things require a fork, but it would unstick the current block too. If I can I'll look up more info later too. I've also seen more people stop mining because of this and not sure what you want to do about it. I have one little miner pointed at it still, but will have to pull that soon too, if things don't change. I really don't want to, but can't afford not to. Everybody here in the talk and also in the cryptocurrency world can depend any minute on medical help. But a lot of people in the world can’t say that about themselves. The Dev.'s want to raise money for the donations and those kind of people just want to make profit. Sure, everyone wants to make profit if they mine coins with their electricity but this coin is to help people in need at first and not to make profit.
