Max bonus level is 30% and lower level is 5%. In between, it depends on various elements. $25M is the whole ICO cap, including amounts raised during presale. :)

Another mobile cryptocurrency, why you guys targeting mobile operator? is it just to get a lot of users? Is there will be a speceific fee for transaction?

Thank you for your question!
At Telcoin we deeply believe market reach matters when it comes to mass market adoption.
Mobile operators are in a unique position where their products, feature phones or smartphones, are in the pockets of more than 5 billions people worldwide. It's hard to find any product that can beat that, and it's definitely one of the reason why we work with them.

But it's not all, mobile operators are also important to improve some problems currently found in the crypto space, like trust issues and KYC practices.

As for transaction fees, there will be no specific transaction fee applied to the use of Telcoin. The fee deduction will happen between us and the operator. About this specific point, I invite you to consult our white paper, where you will be able to know more in details about how we will work with telecom operators. :)

very interesting. I really like the disaster relief use-case posted here: https://medium.com/@telcoin/how-cryptocurrencies-can-make-transparent-disaster-relief-really-work-46c8ddc38cad

I get that telcoin enables immediate donations to the locals in need, but it assumes mobile money in the local region affected by the disaster is still being accepted, right? would be cool to somehow help locals get cash out too.

Quality comment here. Even in very poor countries, people have cell phones. So having access to emergency funds could make a ton of difference. Shouldn't be hard to exchange those coins into fiat though.

Yes, it definitely does assume this.

By using telcoin and the telecom network we would be able to send telcoin directly to mobile money wallets of those affected, and thereby giving them a means to exchange the telcoin for fiat

The total addressable market is technically the amount of cellphones there are which is about 5B (compared to 1.5B bank accounts). That is why we are doing this, as to spread financial inclusion and cryptocurrency adoption.  ;D

Telcoin is a cryptocurrency given to and distributed by your national telecom operator that allows mobile money users to easily and securely send telcoin to each other instantly.

Even easier....

Telcoin uses your telecom providers existing systems to send remittances (our first use case) cheaper and faster than current available solutions.

What would you say is the biggest motivator for the founders?

I would say the need for financial inclusion and a way to securely and affordably send mobile money across borders. All of us here in JP are all from different parts of the globe and we have experienced the pain points in sending money home/abroad. Also, we are super bullish on blockchain/crypto as a way for people in developing nations to have access to the global economy.

Personally (chris) I joined the team because I found the disaster relief use case to be fascinating. I read about the California wildfires and donations centers receiving 3,000 toothbrushes & toothpastes. Most of which would be thrown away. What they (those affected by disasters) really need is some monetary help that would help with provisions that doesn't need to come from a centralized authority like NPO's, NGO's, or governmental agencies (too slow...i.e. FEMA). Using Telcoin, we would be able to send out tokens directly to people's mobile wallets (in geo-fenced specific regions) that could be used immediately. I thought the social impact was awesome

We've seen similar ideals and intent, but none that are working exclusively with Telecoms. Moreover, our chairman Paul has a MASSIVE competitive advantage to others as his previous telecom experience gets us in conversation with telecom (and thus central banks/regulators) executives directly. The ability to get these conversations with decision makers is extremely difficult if you don't have an in.

I bit confused on the questions. My story above was just an example of how donations, albeit the good intentions, sometimes are not exactly what people need (my CA fire story was in a developed country, image a developing nation). With Telcoin however, I was trying to say that we would be able to send our token which could translate to fiat and allow that to help disaster victims. Sorry if this wasn't clear  :)

In trying to answer your question, Telcoin at the moment cannot be used to purchase anything. Our first use case is the sending of our token as a remittance service to/from mobile money users globally via the telecoms system.

I dont see the tokensupply and ICO pricing. Could you provide this information as well? Nevertheless I am interested in your project, it makes sense to me and I think this can have a huge impact on the overall adoption of cryptocurrencies and merging them into daily life. Hopefully your tokensale will be successful and you can deliver what you layed out.

How big is your team right now?

Our team is currently 11 members strong! For some more information on us check out our team page here https://www.telco.in/index.html#s_team

Also, we just recently had live interviews with "CNBC Street Signs" & "Bloomberg Radio". Claude, our CEO, was invited to speak about Telcoin and what we are doing.  ;D

That's a formidable number at this stage. How many would you say are full time?

Those are some pretty big media names, any way we can watch a VoD?

Ask and you shall receive!  ;D ;D ;D

Hey! Thanks for the support and the kind words!  :) Here is how to calculate the price of Telcoin:

We are selling 20% of the whole telcoin supply during this ICO. Put differently, this means that all the funds invested during the pre-ICO and ICO phase will stand for 20% of the whole telcoin supply value, and because we have a limited telcoin supply of 100 billion coins, the value of 1 telcoin will be calculated automatically at the very end of the ICO using the following formula:

(Total amount of funds raised during the pre-ICO and ICO phases) ÷ 20% ÷ 100,000,000,000

Ex: If we reach out hardcap of $25M, the value of 1 telcoin will be $0.00125

Are you guys reaching out to big names in telecom? If you could announce a big partnership, I think you guys will hit that hard cap in 24 hours.

Still curious about this.

Apologies for the delay! Yes, we have secured selected POC agreements starting Q1 with Aritel, Etisalat, MTN Group, Veon, and Tunisia Telecom.  :)

That's exactly what I wanted to see! Do you guys have any sort of prototype?

So anyone with an active cell phone number will be able to get in on this?

Yes! All you need is a phone that is able to at least receive SMS & a mobile wallet and you're good to receive telcoin from your Telecom provider. Check out the Whitepaper for more detailed information.

Wow, maybe this really is revolutionary. Nobody else is working on this?

We've seen similar ideals and intent, but none that are working exclusively with Telecoms. Moreover, our chairman Paul has a MASSIVE competitive advantage to others as his previous telecom experience gets us in conversation with telecom (and thus central banks/regulators) executives directly. The ability to get these conversations with decision makers is extremely difficult if you don't have an in.

That truly is a massive advantage. It's all about who you know.

TEL operator can also create its own token or coin.
Why should they use this one?
And what is the need of bringing this on exchanges?
So people have one more coin to trade?

Sorry this is nothing I would invest....

Objectively speaking, yes there is definitely a chance for synergies and complementary offers. But, at the moment we focused just on getting telco's to sign up and user adoption. Once we have established a solid product market fit and we are scaling with the telco's, then I believe we can begin to bring that in.

But i definitely agree that would be an amazing idea.

Hi there, as Telcoin is aiming to provide the unbanked with financial services, is it comparable to other projects like Micromoney or Everex? As far as I know they also want to provide their services to smartphone users with the use of their cryptocurrency. Can you explain what distinguishes Telcoin from them? Besides of partnering with telecommunication operators that will bring then the services to their costumers (as I look at this more like a marketing advantage). Thanks in advance!

So do you guys have patents?

Would really like to know about this, I think patents are a great indicator of innovation.

We currently do not have any patents as we are not developing any new technology. However, innovation can be created via complimentary assets and improving existing business models. Albeit not having a patent, we feel what we are doing is quite innovative  :)

TEL operator can also create its own token or coin.
Why should they use this one?
And what is the need of bringing this on exchanges?
So people have one more coin to trade?

Sorry this is nothing I would invest....

Thanks for the questions!

Interoperability is the key, operators can't make something that can be sent between networks, look at mobile money. By having a coin that is heavily accessible and distributed, we can actually grow the cryptocurrency economy and benefit the Telco at the same time. Moreover, it's all about scale, mobile money or a bespoke single operator coin cannot scale outside of its network. To reach scale, it needs to be available.

Are there any features that have been tossed around as ideas, and are only distant possibilities at this point?

Well the majority of our idea's are how to build out our financial inclusion platform which will include a suite of services such as micro-financing based on telco powered geo-location data. That is far from a distant possibility, more of an eventual complementary asset to our existing services.

What do you think the cost is of a customer acquisition?

Our CAC is the 50% of the telcoin issuance that we are giving to the telco's, as they will be distributing that to their customers to use.

How will you exchange fiat for Telcoin? You have to go to an exchange?

If you could get them to include Telcoin's in with purchase plans, you guys would become kings overnight.

Any possibility of this happening?

Objectively speaking, yes there is definitely a chance for synergies and complementary offers. But, at the moment we focused just on getting telco's to sign up and user adoption. Once we have established a solid product market fit and we are scaling with the telco's, then I believe we can begin to bring that in.

But i definitely agree that would be an amazing idea.

You're right, you gotta get your foot in the door before expecting them to offer for you to have dinner with them.

Hard cap is not very big and can be achieved easily because of the potential. I will be studying more in following days about project but at large it seems very good approach to make cryptocurrencies usable by large number of people to take them one step further.

Thank you for the positive outlook! Let me (chris) know if you need any questions answered.  :)

Maybe you could answer my question.

My apologies, but i don't seem to see a question. More of a statement regarding the hard cap and your intent to study us more. If there was something i missed, please let me know the question.

You must have missed it, it's further up. I'll repeat it here, is there an advantage to being registered out of Singapore? Maybe more lax telecom regulation or something? I'm clueless when it comes to this industry.

I think it comes down to the Telecoms and getting their attention enough to get a meeting. We are fortunate that we have Paul as our Chairman and co-founder as his previous company (anti-fraud detection systems for telecoms) allows us to get into the executive offices immediately and get meetings with central banks/regulators. Essentially he is one of our main competitive advantages.

Thank you for the words of encouragement! We are actually good friends with the OmiseGo team but differentiate ourselves by using the telecoms as intermediaries also, OmiseGo is primarily an e-wallet platform.

We are focusing on remittances for our first use case. This will include the North African - Western Europe & South East Asian - North Asian corridors. We have and are still speaking with a lot of telco as you can imagine, they are at the center of our business model so we're constantly in touch with them. It does usually takes a long time, but thanks to our co-founder, Paul, we've been able to shorten this timeframe and got greenlighted in some of the biggest Telco groups like Etisalat, Veon and MTN. We'll be starting POC within these groups network first half of next year. The way we include them in our business model, giving them a big financial incentive in the distribution of telcoin, actually helps a lot to speed things up.

Agreed! We are very close with other established companies in the space (OmiseGo, TenX, etc) that we speak with and always share information. We are fortunate to have our advisors actively speaking with us and discussing what we are doing and what they are hearing. Moreover, Paul always has his finger on the pulse of the Telco market as his connections are always within arms reach.

Holy Hell, lol, so many! That's the beauty of starting a company in such a new space. As with any startup if you make a mistake, you learn, iterate, and innovate.

A lot of the things we've learned are based around Organizational Behavior, interacting with such a diverse community (interest levels, knowledge, talent, cultures, etc), how to explain the tech/concept/business model in the vernacular of said communities, cross-functional work, and more.

Its startup life. We've identified a problem/pain-point and we created a solution we feel addresses that. Everyone is doing everything and we are all driven to make this a success for not only ourselves but for those contributing, the telcos, and the people in developing countries that will have access to crypto.

How do you plan to get the word out about Telcoin? Will Telco's be able to help in this regard?

If they were to somehow explain to their customers how Telcoin works, you guys would get a ton of interest I think. Is this a possibility?

We are currently in discussion with 6+ telco's at the moment for POC/pilot agreements. Of course once these are officially publicized, then i'm sure the telco's and the media will talk about this.

Any timeframe on when this could be? Sorry to be so inquisitive, but I have super high expectations for this.

Well we already have agreements with Etisalat, Veon Group, and MTN Group that should be initiating Q1-Q2 next year. The rest we should have some BIG news by end of Jan.  ;) :D ;D

That's awesome, how big are these companies? Are we talking about 1m+ customers between those 4?

I'm curious how your team tracks trends when it comes to this space. I want to know where you guys get your information since you seem to be on the cutting edge?

This is a good question. I think a team is only as good as it's ability to stay up to date.

Ah can't forget Shimo! Our lead dev is a rockstar and is highly rated on github.

That's awesome. I'll have to checkout what else he's worked on.

Our softcap is $10M.

I think he means, what is the smallest amount a person can invest with? Is there a minimum? I've seen some set at $1,000.

Ahhhh! Yes, the minimum for now is 0.3ETH - 0.05BTC - $5k Fiat

That's not so bad. I can still get in on that.

Would you say you have made any mistakes when it comes to Telcoin that you have learned from?

Good answer, thanks a lot. The way you put it is so relatable too. I guess there's plenty of room for errors when you're the only one competing though lol

Always room for errors its just about how you rebound and learn from them. We are still making errors but that is all a part of the process. Being a philly guy myself you always have to #TrustTheProcess

Please do! Just have to go to our ICO page www.telco.in/ico (http://www.telco.in/ico) and get whitelisted  ;D

Everyone has to be whitelisted to participate?

Yes, to ensure proper KYC

Why is KYC necessary with this ICO?

How much of your budget will be spent on marketing in the first year?

Assuming you hit your hard cap.

Telcoin ICO is listed at ICOadvert.com (https://icoadvert.com/)

https://icoadvert.com/telcoin/

Follow us on Twitter (https://twitter.com/ICOadvert) & Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/icoadvert/) & Bitcointalk (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2321691.0)

That's actually a pretty useful looking site. Do you get paid to post these, or you're just using it to promote your site?

Assuming you hit your hard cap.

Assuming we hit the hard cap, we will likely allocate approx 15% of the funds for marketing, but please be aware that this could change. Probably will be more.

because we are accepting eth, btc, and fiat. Moreover, ensuring proper kyc strengthens our position when speaking with telco's and central banks.

Of course. Regulatory risks are there for everyone in the space, but specifically for us, we need to focus on telco's and central banks. As we plan to move into a suite of financial services, so attaining a banking license might have to happen as well.

So say this really does hit the jackpot and gets 200m users in the first 3 months. How do you think your team can scale? Does the tech make it automated enough that you could scale that fast without having to hire an absurd amount of people to keep up?

This would be easily scalable right?

Do you guys have a bonus program?

OW TO CALCULATE THE VALUE OF ONE TELCOIN

We are selling 25% of the whole telcoin supply during this ICO. Put differently, this means that all the funds invested during the pre-ICO and ICO phase will stand for 25% of the whole telcoin supply value. And because we have a limited telcoin supply of 100 billion coins, the value of 1 telcoin will be calculated automatically at the very end of the ICO using the following formula:

(Total amount of funds raised during the pre-ICO and ICO phases) ÷ 25% ÷ 100,000,000,000

Ex: If we reach out hardcap of $25M, the value of 1 telcoin will be $0.001

Memo: We used to say we're selling 20% of the supply and keep 5% bonus pool separately, but for technical reasons we have merged this two entities into a 25% pool.

WHAT BONUS CAN I GET?

・100 ETH: 5% bonus (limited to first 100 ppl)
・150 ETH: 7% bonus (limited to first 75 ppl)
・200 ETH: 10% bonus (limited to first 50 ppl)
・250 ETH: 12% bonus (limited to first 30 ppl)
・300 ETH: 15% bonus (limited to first 20ppl)

If you plan to invest more than 500 ETH, contact us directly to discuss a custom bonus.

We also have a cumulative time bonus which unfolds as follow:

・+10% if the investment is made before we reach $10M equivalent in ETH.
・+5% if the investment is made when we have gathered between $10M and $20M equivalent in ETH.

Ex: If you make an investment of 300 ETH now, you will get access to 15+10=25% bonus.

We also offer a 5% referral bonus. If you refer a friend to invest into our ICO, you are eligible to a bonus equal to 5% of the amount invested by the friend you've referred. To achieve this, please provide them with the public key address you registered with us and make sure they enter it as a referral address.

Anybody know, when this token will be listing on exchanges? Anyway, I think its a great project like DENT

The ICO of the Telcoin coin program is still in progress. So the plan of the stock exchange is closed up. Maybe the project side should take a look at the extent of the raise, and decide which of the above are suitable. :D

It's good news to get ready for a number of exchanges. Bittrex, binance, Huobi, this kind of market trading volume is big and well known. ::)

Everyone is trying to tackle remittances in different ways, but we are pretty sure no one is doing exactly what we are with the same competitive advantage

It will grow as we scale and start getting adoption for sure, but it is tough to say how much it will grow.

In the first page, I saw the brief explanation on how this Telcoin wallet works. Bob buys $1000 and Alice receives $980 only? Is that figure is just an example? Because if it is real, then it means that in every transaction we have in Telcoin, less 0.2% for transaction fee? It is around $20 and I guess it is quite expensive. Clarify this one please.

if you are going to  use Ethereum platform how long will that take to make a transfer via your system? Just average. Have you tested it yet? Ethereum has a problem with scalability and your plans include well populated areas. How are you going to handle huge traffic?

this is a problem we are acutely aware of. We are moving forward at the moment with ethereum, but we are wallet & blockchain agnostic and will be eventually moving to another one that will allow us to scale and transact quicker.

Wow! So you can get a 30% bonus for referring a person and investing in 300 ETH. With how much I expect this coin to appreciate in the first year, that 30% could be huge!
