1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Benefits from the forum. on: Today at 07:25:26 PM
Yes. Bitcointalk forum can definitely help answer questions and swap ideas ideas, but as Davidvictorson pointed out, its probably not the ultimate Bible for learning all things Bitcoin. The forum is fantastic for laying the groundwork and pointing you in the right direction, but for more in-depth research youll likely need other resources. What he said about goals is also true - the benefits you get from the forum depend on why you signed up in the first place.
2  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's starting to feel like 2008 all over again... on: Today at 06:56:16 PM
Do you guys think history will repeat itself?
~

2008 was rough, no doubt and  all those foreclosures and short sales - it turned peoples lives upside down.  And, whos to say it couldnt happen again? Banks might be playin it safer nowadays but greed finds a way, right?

Still, from where I sit, things feel different this time.  Home prices have been inching up for years without some huge jumps.  Maybe this climb is the new normal.  Regulations got tightened up so banks aint handin out crazy loans no more.  So Im cautiously optimistic.

But heck your guess is as good as mine! If you buy and prices keep rising, you did good.  But if theres another crash, well... you might end up slammed with a fat mortgage on a house worth squat.

So should you buy or not? Im not gonna fake like I got some magic answer.  Maybe itll be the best decision you ever make or maybe itll kick you in the behind.  Only time gonna tell and  Im just sayin either way, its a gamble!
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I almost lost my account. on: Today at 06:45:04 PM
So to make a long story short, you used a throwaway email address to register, chose a password at random that you did not write down anywhere and later forgot it, and on top of that, had no recovery method like a staked Bitcoin address? Well, I dont know what to say other than... lesson learned the hard way, I hope.

But this is the part that really intrigued me:

At this point, I was completely exhausted and had to take some rest, it was already 14 O'clock. I later woke up,

Do you usually go to sleep at 2 pm? How old are you, if I may ask?  Cheesy
4  Other / Meta / Re: 🍕 Bitcoin Pizza Day on Bitcointalk on: Today at 04:47:21 PM
I cannot be the only one that has noticed the standard is very high by the entrants and I think it is reasonable to acknowledge that the decision making process to select winners will be difficult. I did not expect to see this much interest in the competition therefore well done to icopress for arranging it. If I manage the time I would just for the fun factor try to enter too.

I present to you, the best pizza in the world. Cool
That is probably what every entrant in this competition also believes  Grin

Yes, I agree. This year's Bitcoin Pizza Day contest is sparking up excitement, with the quality of entries impressively high.  It seems like the contest has drummed up even more interest than expected, which is awesome.  Kudos to icopress for organizing such a cool event and  its got me wondering if I should try whipping up something myself just for laughs, even if Im no pizza pro.  My cooking skills are pretty basic, so Id likely embarrass myself but putting an entry together could be fun regardless.  I say go for it if you have the time! Getting involved is what it is all about.

Does the manager who runs the company approve of this behavior?

No I don't and I constantly remind my participate of not spamming the forum, it isn't about how many post you make daily or weekly but how quality they are to the forum. The user in question was already under my watchlist as I have marked him severally on the spreadsheet and he was already among users that'll be removed from the next clean up of the campaign as I always do. But with immediate effect he has been removed from the campaign and will be sent a notification after this post.

Appologie again I know we aren't there yet a 100% but the campaign is improving. There will be some bad eggs and when they're been caught they won't go unpunished as I have punished others in the past. Surprised I didn't get a notification even though my name was mentioned severally on this thread, keep up the good work lovesmayfamilis.

I see this as a wise move on your part as a campaign manager.  If you want my two cents, it would be smart to catch this stuff early before it blows up publicly and makes the whole campaign look bad.  Maybe keep tabs on the folks who seem to hit the post limit every week - that could give you a sense of who to watch out for.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: generating fresh deposit address (Electrum) on: May 25, 2024, 09:04:43 PM
i need help with how to set-up freshly new deposit address everytime someone want to deposit money Cheesy

It depends on how many new addresses you need and how frequently. The simplest method would likely be to pre-generate a bunch of new addresses from your Electrum wallet. There Is no limit to the number of deposit addresses you can create in advance. These addresses can then be stored in a database.  In the backend, a PHP script can be used to select a new, unique address from the database whenever needed. You can always add more addresses to the database as required.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Converting bitcoin to fiat without problems on: May 25, 2024, 08:55:18 PM

How did you do it so that the tax authorities and the bank manager would not question where the money came from?

Bitcoin to fiat transactions are taxable income in many jurisdictions.  Not reporting that stuff can really backfire too, with fines and stuff from the taxman.  If this is really your concern, I suggest you avoid using banks in that case.  They gotta report suspicious activity and deposits to watch for money laundering and and bad things.  So if you want to stay under the radar with crypto, avoiding the banks could be smart.

when it comes to forum, no copy and paste is allowed even if you provide the link.

Actually, copy-paste is allowed on this forum.  You can even use the Insert Quote button when referencing something.  Though, posts lacking meaningful content are not allowed.  If you just copy a chunk without your own spin, thoughts or views, thats pretty low value and insubstantial, and mods will probably delete it.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Crypto Wallet on: May 24, 2024, 09:10:59 PM
These wallets are decentralized and open source,
~

How can a wallet be decentralized?  especially light wallets like Electrum and BlueWallet? These wallets use centralized servers to connect to Bitcoin nodes.

Maybe you meant non-custodial wallets?
10  Other / Meta / Re: Some people that left this forum recently on: May 24, 2024, 08:55:18 PM
People come and go, thats just life.  When stuff gets busy, interests change or maybe the place just gets boring.  Cant blame folks for moving on, you know?

But some of these signature campaigns if not watched close, could really mess things up around here.  Now theres already a few happening which are alright enough.  Though seems like more low-rent ones keep popping up too, offering rewards for posts that dont say much or matter.  And if that becomes the norm, then for sure the conversations will suck and

Id say the mood around here depends just as much on the managers running these campaigns as it does on the moderators.  Both of them shape what kind of place we have.
11  Economy / Economics / Re: Work From Home or The "Laptop Class" is Immoral or Not? on: May 23, 2024, 09:13:08 PM
Work from home is actually good for the company too, they no need skyscraper offices, no need to spend huge money in electricity bills and work at everyone's convenience.

There are concerns that productivity is reduced when workers work from home. Working from the office makes supervision, teamwork, and direction easy. Anyway, working remotely could be cheaper.

You both make good points! Working remotely certainly presents cost savings for companies in terms of reduced office overheads.  It can also promote flexibility and work-life balance for employees and  however, online collaboration has its difficulties, and some staffers may find it tougher to remain productive without the structure of a traditional workplace.  Ultimately, the success of remote work depends on various factors - the specific organization, the roles involved, employee personalities.  While not a universal solution, it can mutually benefit many companies and staff when conditions align.  For example, I like to work from home, and I do not believe that I will ever go back to the old, traditional model. If for some reason this is no longer possible in my current employment, I will look for a new company that allows me to do this, or I will simply go the freelance route.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The difference between gamblers and real Bitcoin investors? on: May 23, 2024, 09:01:18 PM
Investing in Bitcoin is tricky business.  On one hand, having patience and holding those coins long-term has paid off for many people.  but some legendary Bitcoin ballers also made bank by strategically buying and selling at the right times. So which is the best approach?

The truth is, Bitcoin investing takes both discipline and occasional calculated risks.  You cant just blindly hodl and expect to strike it rich.  Nor can you day trade Bitcoins like stocks and not get rekt.  You gotta have the guts to buy when there is blood in the streets, even if that means going against the herd.  But you also cant freak out and panic sell when the price crashes.

Having patience is key no doubt.  But even masters like Michael Saylor dont just sit on their hands.  When the time is right, they pounce to increase their stacks.  That takes balls of steel and acting while others are paralyzed with fear.

So in the end, successful Bitcoin investing requires inner confidence and zen, grasshopper.  But also the wisdom to move decisively when opportunity knocks.  Just buying and passively waiting wont cut it.  The patient lion waits for the right moment before going in for the kill.  Be the lion!
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will always Survive on: May 23, 2024, 08:44:41 PM
What government exactly? Different governments got different takes on Bitcoin.

Lets not act as if the government from different parts of the world hasn't had their fair share of beef with Bitcoin and the crackdown of either Bitcoin trading/mining then the crypto industry in general, an attack on the industry could be said to be an attack on Bitcoin as they're only going through the sidelines since they can't fully achieve their desires plans on killing Bitcoin.

There are some countries that using Bitcoin is illegal and they have their punishment for defaulters while some other countries have lifted the ban still there was a time when they didn't permit the association with Bitcoin in some way (trading or mining). My point is irrespective of how some government are trying to fight the adoption of Bitcoin, a time will come when they would have no choice but to accept it as some other countries are doing currently. Nigeria is one example and the country is not only fighting the trading of Bitcoin but crypto in general with the restrictions place on crypto trading exchanges (delisting local currency from their platforms). I know they aren't technically fighting Bitcoin but they're pushing the awareness and adoption of Bitcoin backwards with their restrictions.

Well, there was definitely been some governments giving Bitcoin the side-eye or outright getting hostile and  China with those tight restrictions comes to mind.  Cant deny that.  But we gotta look at the full picture here.  For every one government getting their heckles up over crypto, there is another one rolling out the red carpet.  Or like in the EU and the U.S. They seem more interested in slapping some regulations on rather than outright bans.

Its a lot like how the early internet faced pushback too before becoming just another part of everyday life.  There is still some hurdles for Bitcoin, but the momentum is real. So Im not sweating it too much.  Governments can only resist new tech kicking down their door for so long.  World is changing, Bitcoin and crypto are gonna be part of that change whether the powers that be like it or not and  it is what it is.

Nonsense is when you score my knowledge without knowing what I actually know. Talking simple does not mean that someone is dumb.

You missed the point.

How about I create a topic with the title "pbies is a fucking idiot!"  Just because I like to use those words, in that particular order, does not mean Im trying to insult you. Thats basically your argument, right?
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: End of Bitcoin on: May 22, 2024, 08:06:56 PM
I have always been fascinated by how some folks can make big claims without knowing squat about the subject.  OP, you bandy around terms like bsgs and kangaroo like they are some kind of magic that can crack any encryption just like that.  Do you even know what these methods represent and what they are capable of doing?

If you are really interested in learning about this kind of stuff, I would suggest asking questions about things you dont understand before making such outlandish claims.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will always Survive on: May 22, 2024, 07:42:36 PM

The government has tried to bring down Bitcoin but hasn't succeeded and soon they'll have no choice but to accept defeat that they can't bring down Bitcoin.

What government exactly? Different governments got different takes on Bitcoin.  But most governments just wanna get they piece of the pie - track payments, tax gains, etc.  That could make Bitcoin more mainstream even if it makes the Wild West vibe fade a bit.

So yeah, some regulation seems likely but outlawing crypto probably is not happening... Except in a few countries.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's your experience using web3 wallets? on: May 19, 2024, 09:06:32 PM
I haven't really explored the world of web3 wallets
~

This topic has nothing to do with the Bitcoin discussion because there are no so-called "web3 wallets" in the Bitcoin ecosystem. You should move this thread to ALtcoins section.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shops now accept BTC on: May 19, 2024, 08:55:02 PM
@Emmybit001, if you could share a bit more details on the specific stores taking bitcoin.  It would be helpful to know the country or region they are located in.  As some folks already pointed out, there are a good number of major retailers that accept bitcoin now.  Microsoft and Overstock.com are two bigger name companies that have allowed customers to pay with bitcoin for some time and  there are also services that let you spend bitcoin at retailers that dont directly take it.  But if you have names of some smaller or local brick and mortar shops embracing bitcoin, that would be interesting to hear.  Even just the general area so we can get a sense of where adoption seems to be happening.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is this my secret phrase or seed. on: May 19, 2024, 08:41:44 PM
Hello,
I've just come across an old wallet (2017) of mine. Could somebody tell me if this is my secret phrase or seed, crypto_keys-repl.man Thanks in advance  Smiley

I dont quite understand what you are asking.  It sounds like you found some file on your computer and you think it might have your bitcoin wallets seed phrase in it? Where did this file come from anyway? Maybe try opening it up in Notepad or something and take a look inside.  Just from a quick google search it looks to me like that file is part of Windows itself, so I kinda doubt it has anything to do with bitcoin wallets or crypto.
20  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What type of a trader/investor is this? on: May 19, 2024, 08:20:54 PM
I dont really see anything too special here.  This dude put the last bit of money he had into some new memecoin.  Honestly a pretty risky move if you ask me.  Most of those things crash and burn right out the gate.  He definitely lucked out that this one actually took off.  but man, why didnt he sell some when he was up 10x? Or even 20x? To me, if you are literally investing your last couple grand, gotta take some profits.  But he got greedy I guess.  Wanted to squeeze every last bit out.  Cant be too surprised it came crashing down.  You win some you lose some when you play with fire.
