881  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Question for Miners on: May 31, 2023, 10:05:10 PM
~
If this were possible what happens to the rejected transactions?

Absolutely! It is indeed possible. Should your transaction face rejection from one mining pool for any reason, it will probably be accepted by another pool. The key factor here is that your transaction fee meets the network's requirements.

Typically, miners prioritize transactions with higher fees, filling up blocks until they're full. This process continues until the block is successfully mined. Then, begins the selection process for a new block, repeating in a cyclical fashion as long as there are pending transactions. So, as long as you set an appropriate transaction fee and are patient enough, there is a good chance your transaction will eventually be accepted by a mining pool and processed on the blockchain.
882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Throwback: First Bitcoin Website in 2009 on: May 31, 2023, 12:04:06 AM
I was unaware of this until you revealed the first Bitcoin website and how it appears.

Thank goodness for the advancement of technology. How are we to be running our bitcoin transactions if that bitcoin still functions with its old method of using an IP address to receive bitcoin up till now? While bitcoin is supposed to be transacted anonymously. That means anyone that wants to get involved with bitcoin will have to reveal his IP address, which makes him be easily traced by third parties or the government. No wonder, why so many people that heard about bitcoin at its early stage didn't bother to invest in it because they didn't want their IP addresses to be made public before transmitting or receiving bitcoin.

IP addresses have served just as an alternative means of transacting, rather than being the sole method. In the Bitcoin system, it is my understanding that Bitcoin addresses have always played a central role.

And, where did you come up with the idea that many people who learned about Bitcoin back then didn't invest in it because of that reason? Or are you simply making an assumption?

883  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MINING WITH SOLAR POWER | WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN MY CASE? on: May 30, 2023, 08:22:15 PM
~
what would you do if you were me?

You can research which cryptocurrency is currently the most profitable to mine with your hardware and try it out for a month to see how much income you can generate. This will give you a better idea of the potential earnings from mining and help you make an informed decision on whether to continue mining or sell the extra power back to the electricity company. It should be a simple calculation after that. Either continue mining, or sell electricity and buy crypto directly with that money. Also keep in mind that mining can put a significant amount of stress on your hardware, which can lead to a shorter lifespan and more frequent breakdowns.
884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Throwback: First Bitcoin Website in 2009 on: May 29, 2023, 09:06:39 PM
Also interesting to note that it took until 2020 before a more "normal" looking website appeared with translations and the like.
~

It depends on what you consider a "normal" looking website.  Cheesy

If we take a trip down memory lane with the help of the Wayback Machine, we can see that the bitcoin.org website underwent a makeover makeover back in December 2010. And, even during that early stage, the website already boasted translations into several globally spoken languages.

~
Since Bitcoin doesn't actually have an official website.

Back in those days, when Bitcoin was just beginning to gain traction, one of the primary locations where people could get the official Bitcoin client was the official website itself, bitcoin.org. The bitcoin.org domain was registered by Satoshi. As the original creator, there is no one more official than him when it comes to Bitcoin. A lot of things changed after he left.
885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Educating unemployed friends about Bitcoin on: May 28, 2023, 06:42:11 PM
And I assure them if we all get involved in Bitcoin maybe our unemployment will go away. Because there are enough ways to earn money with Bitcoin.

Oh, absolutely! Forget about traditional job markets, education, and skill development. Just jump on the Bitcoin bandwagon, and all your employment worries will magically disappear!  Cheesy

But seriously, sarcasm aside, while Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies can provide unique opportunities for earning, very few of them result in sustainable income or long-term financial stability.

Let us explore some ways to earn bitcoins. There are four common methods: investing, mining, trading, and freelancing/accepting Bitcoin payments. However, considering your friends' unemployment status and limited start-up capital, the first three options may not be viable. That leaves us with freelancing and accepting Bitcoin payments, which can also be done using traditional payment methods, not just cryptocurrencies. So, what other ways do you suggest for your friends to explore in order to earn Bitcoin?

Because bitcoin crypto currency is completely illegal in my country. So how can I help my friends in this regard?

Engaging in illegal activities can have serious consequences. If Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are illegal in your country, I suggest exploring other legal and legitimate financial opportunities that align with the laws and regulations of your country.

I don't understand is this thread open to all users? So why is the moderator deleting my post?
~

This thread is not open to everyone. As a newbie, you can post your investigation in a new thread and post a link (once) to this thread. Read the fine print from the OP:

  • No "Newbie" or, "Junior Member" can post an investigation in this thread.  They can however post a link (once) to a thread in the reputation section where their investigations can be investigated and analised.

This account was up for sale on the exact date it woke up.
The seller sold this account without removing or updating the selling thread. Clicking on Merit and Trust from the sell thread will redirect you to this account.

According to the archived pages on web.archive.org, his profile data (posts, activity...) match perfectly. This cannot be a coincidence.

Can someone verify before the seller remove the thread?

888  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 1xbit deposit (11,564 USD LOST) 3k who can help me on: May 27, 2023, 09:03:46 PM
Update: I tried contacting Binance customer service regarding your case, reporting a scam, and getting assistance returning the stolen funds. However, they asked me that the person concerned with the case would contact them as soon as possible, and they would provide assistance.

That is a good initiative on your part and the OP should take your advice and contact Binance regarding this matter. Or better yet, the OP could report the matter to the authorities. The amount is not insignificant and it could be worth the effort.
889  Economy / Reputation / Re: Feedback that are fun to read (collection) on: May 27, 2023, 08:41:36 PM
It's fun to read some many directions of speculation for a pre mature thread.

Check it back after few weeks once I bump it. For now please forget about what's in the subject and description.

If this is, as you say, a premature thread, and I believe it may be, then why did you create it?

In the future, it may be helpful to take some time to fully develop your idea before starting a new topic.
890  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why My Most Favorite Board is Beginners & Help ? on: May 26, 2023, 08:59:52 PM
I agree! The Beginners & Help board is an incredibly valuable resource for new users who are just starting to learn about cryptocurrency. It was an important starting point for me, and I continue to enjoy coming back here. It is good to know there are still people who are willing to help out others in need, especially when it comes to something as technical as cryptocurrency.
891  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am Never going to Leave this Forum no Matter What on: May 25, 2023, 10:57:25 PM
~
What about you ? Can there be anything (assuming you did not break any of the rules) that will make you leave the forum or not?

Yes, this forum has been a great platform for learning and interacting with others, and I do not think I can ever find another forum like this. But I cannot say I would never leave this forum. There is always a first time for everything.  So if the forum turns into something that I do not like or agree with, or if this forum will turn into a place where people are no longer allowed to express their opinions, then I am going to leave the forum.

I do not see that happening anytime soon. But if it does, then I am out of here.  Wink
892  Economy / Reputation / Re: Feedback that are fun to read (collection) on: May 25, 2023, 10:33:21 PM
I noticed your title says "collection," but I only see one neutral feedback example here. And to be honest, not particularly fun to read, in my humble opinion. Are there any more feedbacks you can share to make it more interesting?
893  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the bull run near already? on: May 24, 2023, 08:16:41 PM
The bull run that Zhao refers to is the 2017 bull run, which was triggered by a story on CCTV. The coverage led to a surge in demand for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, as well as an increase in trading volume across exchanges. This is what I gathered from the media sources available. However, there are many factors that can influence the market, and it is difficult to predict with certainty whether this event will lead to a bull run or when a bull run may occur. In my opinion , this event will not have as much of an impact on the market as the 2017 bull run. The reason I think this is because there are many more people who own cryptocurrencies and know what they are than in 2017, so any news that comes out about bitcoin will likely be met with skepticism or indifference by some.
894  Other / Meta / Re: Images from Imgur have been restored on: May 24, 2023, 07:48:08 PM
They tried hardly to be a new 9gag and ignored the fact that most people were just using their service as image hosting only.
Please, apart from image hosting, what other services does imgur offer? Grin I don't even bother to browse the site let alone to create an account. I knew them through this forum

As far as I know, Imgur still primarily focuses on image hosting, and it remains one of the most popular image hosting sites on the internet. But in recent years, they also include video hosting, community features such as commenting and upvoting, and the ability to create memes using their built-in meme generator tool. Imgur also has a messaging feature that allows users to share images and videos privately with others.

Embedding imgur links is not supported in new posts

So I thought imgur is no longer allowed to be used to post image on forum since theymos made his new rules, and now talkimg and imgbb are the solution.
Oops! That's a harsh decision on them from theymos, but I have nothing to say than they deserve it.

Yeah. They were the standard for a long time, and I used them frequently on this site. But considering the recent problems, I support this decision.
895  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Brand on: May 24, 2023, 07:30:28 PM
I also notice that the pages are mostly in Germany, even though there is an English section. The shop for example does not support English, so users will need to translate it with Google if they want to add products to the cart. Is this intended or you're still planning to translate other parts into English?

Yes, I noticed that too.

It is unclear whether the website was made with a pre-made template or if it was custom-built. However, if the site's target audience includes international customers, its implementation of multilingualism may not be effective. The fact that most of the content is only in German means that it would be difficult for an international customer to make a purchase. If the target audience is only German users, however, this would not be a problem.
896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Which are the best crypto mixers of 2023? on: May 23, 2023, 09:35:18 PM
When it comes to finding the best Bitcoin mixer, it really depends on what you prioritize. Some people might argue that the best mixer is the one with the highest security rate, while others might prioritize lower fees. It's all about personal preference. If you are looking for a comprehensive list of current Bitcoin mixers and their basic characteristics, I recommend checking out this thread: 2023 List Bitcoin Mixers Bitcoin Tumblers Websites
897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Budget For Halving on: May 23, 2023, 09:22:12 PM
can any one explain what and why will be after the halving event?

i know that difficulty for mining bitcoin will be doubled. but what can be done with the price of BTC and why?

The halving event in Bitcoin refers to the reduction in the block reward given to miners, not the mining difficulty. During a halving, the number of new Bitcoins created with each mined block is halved. This decrease in rewards affects the profitability for miners and the total supply of new Bitcoins entering circulation. With the reduced supply of newly minted coins, many speculate that this shortage could put pressure on the price of Bitcoin if demand remains constant or increases. Therefore, lower supply = higher price.
898  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The unforseen and likely occurrence in the Bitcoin space on: May 22, 2023, 10:17:48 PM
From my perspective, the most significant unforeseen situation that could impact the crypto space revolves around regulatory challenges. As cryptocurrencies continue to evolve, it is possible that governments may introduce new regulations that have the potential to significantly impact the entire crypto ecosystem.
899  Economy / Reputation / Re: Account Connected Full member/Hero member spammer & bounty cheater on: May 22, 2023, 07:56:51 PM
DT tag is definitely required for spammers cheater multi accounts like this. So give DT1, DT2 tag as soon as possible (thanks).

Got any proof that this user pulled off any shady stuff or violated any rules with his alternate account?
All I can see is that andrew_788 took part in some bounties nearly five years ago but has remained inactive ever since. I do not think that deserves a tag from DT members, even if they are confirmed to be alt accounts.
900  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger Confirmed That Government Can Get Access To Your Fund on: May 21, 2023, 09:03:09 PM
Ledger is working closely with the government that's what it is. They may not even need a subpoena to access your account. They'd just go ahead and go ahead and because it's not an opensource the Ledger company could even freeze your coins if not sent to another wallet.

For users who bought a Ledger wallet and have used it before this update, there must have been paranoia already. If I did have a ledger, I must have sent my coins already the day after the announcement.

In my opinion, the biggest takeaway from this case is that we should not trust closed source wallets. When it comes to hardware wallets, the safest options appear to be those that are completely air-gapped. This means the ones that do not connect your hardware wallet to any form of internet connection. For example, they use QR codes and a camera to sign transactions. What are your thoughts on this?
