1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello and why I believe Bitcoin is a good technology on: June 30, 2024, 12:22:53 PM
Bitcoin is very obtainable. You don't have to buy one unit of Bitcoin, it can be broken down and you'll get $1000 worth or $100 or $10, whichever amount is closer to your reach.
Bitcoin is perfect for DCA strategy (Dollar Cost Averaging) because you can buy any increment of bitcoin that fits your available capital. The smallest unit of Bitcoin is satoshi, more about Bitcoin units is below.

[Did you know?] Bitcoin Table of Units

If purchase is planned on centralized exchanges, you have to read their pages with information on minimum trade (assume it is $10), minimum withdrawal and withdrawal fee to have more detailed plan on your investment, DCA and withdrawal.

You're also not late, Bitcoin is in its second decade and is still only used by a small minority of the world population. You're early
It is actually not too late. People said they are late in 2013, 2014, and even in 2020 or 2021. Now many people wonder they are late and will not join this market but they will be regretful next year, then jump in at ATH and stuck in a bear market.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin exit forever? on: June 30, 2024, 03:49:36 AM
Not just that, it is said that Bitcoin could be mine in the next 100 years, 2140 as others said, so we can't really wait that long for Bitcoin and so we are all dead by that time. And if there will be a take-over, whether it's ETH or others, it could have happen before.

But not in the next coming years, Bitcoin is to big to fall, it has established it's dominance almost 45%-50% so it's very difficult for any coin to suddenly go up in billions in terms of market capitalization and overtake Bitcoin at the top position. Regardless of what the argument of the OP, it's obviously flawed, in my opinion.
To understand this, OP will need to read some fundamental resources.

How is the 21 Million Bitcoin Cap Defined and Enforced?
Controlled supply of Bitcoin
Equivalent Network Time of Bitcoin

The Equivalent Network Time gives insightful table on time needs to mine 1 BTC with different Bitcoin Epoch but it is meaningful only if Bitcoin network will continue to operate with active miners.
3  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Can congestion in bitcoin price be controlled? on: June 30, 2024, 03:29:26 AM
What do we think that is the technical way to get rid of congestion in bitcoin network
From congestion in Bitcoin mempools to congestion in Bitcoin price, there is no logic.

There is nothing as price congestion as I know and about Bitcoin mempools, the fact is mempools are cleaning up recent months and become better than months ago and in 2023.

Today you can move your bitcoin with 8 or 10 sats/vbyte and get a first confirmation quickly. You can try with 7 sats/vyte but will have to wait longer.

4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My 2 big reasons why we should use SegWit addresses instead of Legacy addresses on: June 28, 2024, 10:13:12 AM
But perhaps for HODLing, it's probably better to merely use Legacy addresses. Why? Because they're technically the safest. The other address types are Soft Forks, and the Core Developers are human - there could be bugs. Plus because HODLing is merely for the sake of the HODL, you don't need those extra features in Segwit or Taproot.
It is merely Conspiracy theory with some foundations to back behind but if bugs can cause bitcoin loss stored in addresses with Segwit or Taproot, many people already lost their bitcoins.

If the theory is bug can cause it, Bitcoin Legacy addresses can be compromised too and with more developer contributions, more decentralized nowadays, my theory is it can be safer than in the past with limited developers contributed to Bitcoin developments.

If I have big fund in bitcoin, I will decentralize my fund in Legacy, Segwit addresses.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful about free streaming of UEFA EURO 2024 - Medusa Malware on: June 27, 2024, 10:42:23 AM
Those who are looking for something bad to happen to them will always find it no matter how much someone warns them about it. In addition, here in the EU, matches can be watched on national TV (FTA), at least as far as my country is concerned, and if someone needs another source, there are many "illegal" IPTV services that offer a handful of programs for a relatively low price.

I think this malware targets primarily those outside the EU, because the interest in this competition is high everywhere where people love football.
I would like to watch matches on TV or on Youtube if I don't have access to my family television. Television and communication companies can have their websites that provide links to channels with live EURO matches.

Finding official websites and channels on Youtube or websites to watch on computer is my choice. I will not search with key words to find random sources that are strange and not official from televisions, communication companies I familiar with.

I agree with you that people do this, will make it as their habit when they use the Internet and they are most favorite potential victims of hackers not only during EURO 2024 time but throughout their lives.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your most important crypto advice? on: June 26, 2024, 07:06:08 AM
My most important crypto advice is "not your keys - not your coins" because it is simply a very important advice, where we should be aware to have real access to our coins and don't need to rely on a middleman.
Not your keys, not your coins video from Andreas Antonopoulos.

Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts

Importance of Bitcoin private key on control of your bitcoin is presented in above resources.

Bitcoin is clearly designed as a P2P currency.
It is about transactions but with private keys, you have control on your coins and your transactions too, full controls. You can use P2P exchange service but if you don't have private keys, you don't control your coin and transactions, hence you have to rely on that P2P exchange service.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ways to invest in Bitcoin. on: June 26, 2024, 04:38:47 AM
DCA is a good one for the newbies, and if you say, DCA is the best nope it's not, its good in the factor for risk management and for those who possess little understanding about the market and want to make efficient accumulation without spending much time on analysis and other things
DCA is a good strategy for not only newbies. You are not newbie but it does not mean with your experience, you will be able to control your emotion, psychology and make right decisions in the market.

Human can be affected by fear, uncertainty and greed so DCA strategy is here to help human investors to avoid negative effects from Fear, Greed, Uncertainty.

Websites for Dollar Cost Averaging DCA

El Salvador, Micro Strategy got good profit with DCA for their investment. We can do the same and get good profit with our Bitcoin investment, with DCA too.

8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any other way wallet can be compromised? on: June 26, 2024, 04:30:38 AM
I experienced something today on my EVM wallet and I'm still in shock how the hell it happened. Before now, I have some wallets that were compromised due to my carelessness with their security. I saved some passphrase in my email and saved some on Google drive as image because I took screenshot of the phrases. I learned lesson the hard way when my funds were wiped out from the wallet.
Storing your wallet seed phrase in email, it's hard to believe because it is one of worst practice. Either in text or image (screenshot), it's bad practice. It's worse if you did not secure your email with strong password and 2FA. Even you did have strong password and 2FA for your email, you can not trust Google.

Revoke your smart contract approval.

Most important, don't use any wallet with big fund to do tasks, claim airdrops. If bad things come, you will lose big fund. With airdrops, use very small and nearly empty wallets to do tasks and claim airdrop.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Be careful with your crypto holdings and what you do with it on: June 26, 2024, 01:32:36 AM
Possible confiscation of funds?
Governments can request companies to use smart contracts and confiscate your altcoin cryptocurrency but they can not do it with Bitcoin.

With Bitcoin, no company is responsible for it and there is no smart contract to freeze bitcoins in any non custodial wallets. It's different if you store your bitcoin in custodial wallets like on centralized exchanges.

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Taproot? on: June 25, 2024, 02:32:21 AM
It's been 2 and a half years since the Taproot soft fork was activated (November 14, 2021, Block Height: 709632). Taproot addresses begin with bc1p and currently account for ~33% of the traffic on the Bitcoin network: https://transactionfee.info/charts/inputs-types-by-count/

Still, there are very large organizations that will not let you withdraw to Taproot addresses. https://whentaproot.org tracks which projects have or haven't implemented support for sending to Taproot. On the list of shame, we have these services:

It takes centralized exchanges some years to adopt Segwit addresses Bech32 for deposits and it's explainable on how they need a quite long time to accept Taproot addresses Bech32m.

Thank you everybody for confirming my suspicious and helping me out figuring what was wrong. I still believe, however, that one thing is to ignore a board due to numerous reasons, but having the ability to still follow (and see) threads created by ourselves would make sense from a forum/user perspective.

I guess I'll leave this thread open to see/read other users opinions about this.
You can follow threads started by yourself with this link

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to check balance of 86400 bitcoin private key easily? on: June 23, 2024, 09:22:14 AM
Electrum wallet is not designed for this. in general, as long as your computer is running, your Electrum wallet can scan any number of addresses, but since it is an SPV wallet[1], most Electrum servers have a DoS-protection limit, which is often less than ~10k addresses[2], so if you have a number greater than 10k, the electrum option will be slow and time-consuming (and here we are talking about 86k, not 10k).

You can avoid this by running full node, so bitcoin core is the appropriate choice.
Running a Bitcoin Core full node is a best option but it is best if this balance checking activity needs to repeat many times, like daily check.

If it is only one time check with curiosity only, I don't see why we need to run a full node. The OP's purpose is not to check these addresses' balance too often, it's my guess. Depends on the purpose, Electrum or Bitcoin Core full node can be used.

With 86k private keys ~ addresses, we can split it to 9 parts and check each of 9 parts. Do you think it can avoid Dos-protection and won't be too slow and time-consuming?
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Quit the doubt, it's not too late for Bitcoin investment. on: June 23, 2024, 08:32:16 AM
I consider those who were opportuned to mine Bitcoin and also invested at the early days as the ones who took the best step
They probably were curious and wanted to try only but they did not have clear plans for what they did (mining or buying bitcoin) in early days. They were more easily to lose their bitcoin by don't make proper back ups for wallet recoveries later.

The people I feel sorry for are those who have the financial capacity to invest heavily in Bitcoin but still have doubt over it's potential
They can spend their money to invest in many things, not only in Bitcoin. If their investments bring profit, their wealth increases and it's good. The rich knows what they do and usually they do well with their investment. Warren Buffet, Berkshire Hathaway did not invest in Bitcoin but their wealth, net asset value did not stop its growth since 2009.

Regret is with people who did not use money to invest in anything that was profitable in latest years and only hold their money in banks. Their wealth loses by inflation recent years.

Bitcoin has very good ROI and you can see it there.

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to check balance of 86400 bitcoin private key easily? on: June 23, 2024, 02:23:50 AM
1) Download and install core
2) Run one of the import methods described above
3) Connect to the internet and let core sync.

And wait. Depending on the speed of your connection and PC it should take anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

-Dave
Is it faster to import private keys to Electrum wallet and check balance of those addresses than doing the same with Bitcoin Core?

I see Bitcoin Core takes longer time to fully sync and we can not check balance if the Bitcoin Core wallet is not fully sync. I would like to do this with Electrum wallet, because with a simple task to check balance, doing this with Bitcoin Core takes long time.

If it is for using, Bitcoin Core with full node is better than Electrum, I agree but OP simply want to check balance.

Importing your private keys into Electrum
16  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: This psychology hack helped me become a profitable trader on: June 23, 2024, 02:16:27 AM
As a trader, it's not good to rely solely on trading as your only source of income. Why?
When you consider trading as your only source of income, you will need to force yourself to open trading positions, and try to find opportunities to get profit, income from trading. It potentially forces you to open trading positions when you are unsure about the market. This type of risk taking trading activity can increase risk to trade badly and raise risk of losing your trading capital.

I wouldn't say that this is a hack though, I mean you really have another source of income, others might have a full time job 9-5 desk job and then at the side is doing crypto trading. Or others have business, online or offline and then again they trade with their free time. Of course any job that is not stable will give you problems and stress you out because you have to think of your family. You will always think that you have to bring food in the table 24x7 and if there is money issues, then it might really affect you.
Trading causes more problems in psychology of a person which can be reason for many bad trading actions. A trader will have more pressure if trading is the only source of possible income when jobs lost already but even if you have jobs that can give you income, your trading career and actions can still be wrong and you still have risk to lose money with trading.

It's better to have trading as an extra job and only as a possible extra income, not the only or main source of income.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Source of income diverses can inspire investors to expand their investment goals on: June 22, 2024, 02:23:25 AM
Noting that bitcoin enthusiasts who are interested to invest on bitcoin should have alternative source of income so that it can allow us maintain the architect on how we want to achieve our investment goals
Investment means you have money, capital for investment from some kind of source. It can be your regular salary, your savings, profit from other investment activities and you use it for your investment in Bitcoin or cryptocurrency.

Investment without money from your own pocket is not investment fundamentally to define. It's gamble and gamble with money you borrow from someone else.

Investment means going long term with a company, a project you put your belief and capital in. Furthermore, it takes time for a company, a project to grow up then gain bigger adoption, expand business, gain value so you should never expect to get success and profit in short term.

When your source of capital for investment is broken, you can halt your investment. Focus on finding a job and when you get source of income again, you can continue your investment with Dollar Cost Averaging.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a Retirement Bet on: June 21, 2024, 10:35:24 AM
Bitcoin is gaining a lot of popularity and there are people considering it as a retirement investment. How good is this?

https://bitcoinics.com/bitcoin-as-a-retirement-bet/
Retirement investment and retirement bet is big different.
The first is doing something intelligently and carefully, the second is a gamble like a degen. Do you see big difference yet?

If you bet on Bitcoin and think that it is your bet for financial freedom and retirement ticket, something is not well planed from your side and your bet has bigger risk to fail.

By saying investment for retirement ticket, you would have more similar intelligent investment thinking and your plan will be more detailed, careful and has higher chance to bring you financial freedom but minimize risk of losing money.

Bitcoin is Bitcoin, it is as it is, and will it help you to retire, it depends on you, not Bitcoin.
19  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Does Electrum Support Sending BTC On BEP20? on: June 21, 2024, 03:56:08 AM
Electrum does not generate a bip39 seed phrase, it uses an Electrum seed and you cannot import it into most wallet softwares, as far as i know, only BlueWallet supports importing an Electrum seed phrase. So you cannot import it into Metamask or TrustWallet.
I know we can import other wallets with BIP39 to Electrum wallet, choose BIP39 when importing but the process to import Electrum wallet to other wallets is different flow because Electrum wallet use its own seed phrase, not use BIP39.

We can move bitcoins to another wallet or to export private keys in Electrum, then use private keys for import in other wallets.
To export private keys, in Electrum.

Wallets > Private keys > Export > Choose CSV or JSON, and export keys.
This step is to export all private keys in the wallet.

If we want to export only one private key for one public address, right click on the Public address, choose Private key, type wallet passwords, and export the private key.
20  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Meme coins so how you trade them to make constant profits ? on: June 21, 2024, 03:11:05 AM
Meme what's your methods?
How much you make daily ? Weekly? Profit ?

We all should not sell when we see little 5x profit we should aim higher like 50x profit at least.
You aim at not only 5x for your portfolio but 50x with meme coins and want to have constant profit with meme coins, it is very risky, ambitious and unsustainable target.

By setting up your target too ambitious and greedy like this, you take high risk by trying to make your profit and fortune with meme coins but you ignore big facts about altcoins and meme coins in particular. Meme coins are very risky and you have high risk to lose all or most of your capital with meme coins.

If you want to have things like constant profit, stick with Bitcoin. Invest your money in Bitcoin, use DCA strategy and hold your bitcoins to get net profit from holding after some years. You will not have things like constant profit day by day, month by month or year by year because Bitcoin has bullish and bearish time.

Yearly ROI and Monthly ROI with Bitcoin.
