@inthelongrun - it's inevitable though, but Ukrainians are champion right now at 135 lbs. So it can only make sense if they are going to fight and put aside their nationality. But let's see, I mean if they are going to be forced by governing body or if the fight really make sense for the money, then for sure they will go and oblige to face each other in the future. At least in the end, it will still be the Ukrainians that are going to win.
The governing bodies have no right to issue or force unifications so it will be about the money for sure. And as you said, the winner will still be a Ukrainian. But so far, Berinchyk is the least popular among champions consisting of Loma, Tank and Shakur. Tank has the biggest fanbase but we'll see if he is interested in unifying the belts. I felt bad or annoyed on Tank because he keeps on ducking the other champions. He is nearing 30 already. He is so rich but without solid accomplishments he will be forgotten once he retires. The division right now seems complicated and could be hard to unify. Tank seems uninterested. I hope MMA community is familiar with Mark Kerr. I have recently found that there is going to be release a film about him and MMA/UFC. The Smashing Machine. And the Dwayne Johnson is going to be performing as a Mark. Just check how similar he looks to Mark. Btw, current heavyweight boxing champion Olexander Usyk will also be performing in this movie. He will play a role of Igor Vovchanchyn, who was also an icon of early MMA. Honestly, I am very happy that his movie will be released. Because I like the spirit of early MMA, where there were more brutality, more huge guys, more of everything. And MMA wasnt all about money like it is today. Wow that's cool. Dwayne Johnson is perfect resemblance since he's big and muscular. Glad to see 2-division undisputed champion, Oleksandr Usyk included in this movie. I will watch this one for sure. There were plenty of upsets happening lately, Denys Berinchyk won the WBO belt at 135 against 3 division world champion Emanuel Navarette. Joe Cordina lost his belt, Giovanni Santillan also losing his interim belt and avoided heavyweight technician Frank Sanchez was stopped. So I am also hoping Frank Martin to pull an upset here and steal that WBA email belt. I find Tank an explosive and exciting fighter but he is cherry picking for many years and is a coward to fight against the other champions for many years so Frank Martin winning is better for the sport. We want to see another undisputed champ in this division soon.

But yeah, I do agree that Tank Davis is a paper champion, even his 140 lbs belt he won against Barrios was a cherry pick fight for him because he knows he can beat Barrios easily and then didn't defend it and go back to 135 lbs. So wouldn't like an upset here? Frank Martin has the talent, he just need to avoid that power punches from Tank Davis and then be the aggressor and score more points and hope that the judges will give him the nod after 12 rounds. It's just crazy how blinded are the fans of Tank Davis. The belt he won over Barrios was only the regular version though so it does not count since the real WBA belt was held by either Pacman or Ugas at that time. I actually think tonight’s close game was good news for the Celtics. Indiana was going to come in and give it their all for game 1. Boston has a lot of injured players including Kristaps Porzingis who plays a decent sized role on the team. Holding off the Pacers while they have a great shooting night pretty much tells the tale that Boston wins this series quickly.
I was also expecting an easy series for Boston against the Pacers. But without Porzingis it'll be a hard for them because Indiana is very strong as well and who knows how many games they won in the regular season if Siakam was acquired pre-season. Boston was leading but something was wrong with them in last quarter and it could be the reason why this team is yet to get their own first ring. Indiana was able to chase them and was actually winning before Jalen hit the 3 to force an OT. But pretty sure both teams will make adjustments for the next game. |

Exactly, this could be a war as both have limited skills. Both are old but Zhang is older. Wilder has a weaker chin but he also carries the heavier punch so both can end up getting hurt here. Maybe Zhang will try to box safely but I doubt he is quicker than Wilder although he can set up his counters to stop the American.
This is still an exciting match up but I will be more focused on the title fights in the same card. Hopefully, Bivol delivers a knockout, it's been a long time since the last one. Also the long awaited overdue title shot of Filip Hrgovic. He wasted years and is the most avoided fighter at heavyweight. I believe he could've demolished AJ and Wilder when those 2 were still undefeated champions.

If Loma wants money then obviously it is Tank Davis due to its huge fanbase. Navarette lost his bid to become champion at 135 today so he is out of Loma's radar while new WBO champ Berinchyk is another Ukrainian that has no fanbase in the western world. We saw how boring Shakur's last fight and there will be less fans in his next fight. Which is why Shakur is hyping himself now, calling the bigger names.
Even if a fight with Berinchyk was marketable, I doubt two Ukranian fighters would really fight each other unless it was absolutely necessary. Picking Tank over Shakur seems like the most logical option. It is the fight which will draw the most fans because of the potential to be an exciting fight. As good as Shakur is, his style is just not appealing in this era where people want to see sensational knockouts. It all depends on whether Tank is serious about wanting to fight Loma. It’s unclear how much involvement Floyd still has in Tank’s career, but there is some clear animosity between them. Hopefully, Tank will free himself from Mayweather’s control and start making his own decisions. Floyd has been holding him back by being so overprotective. I am also curious if they're both willing to unify each other. I remember when the Klitschko brothers owned all the belts at heavyweight but are not willing to fight each other. I can't even remember an all Ukrainian world title fight. Wladimir Klitschko nearly had to face his countryman Sascha Dimitrenko for the WBO mandatory but the latter was upset in the eliminator. If Madrimov cannot take Crawford's power shots then he is done. But we'll see. Madrimov is young, undefeated and probably bigger so it's a good test for Bud who's fighting at 154 for the first time. Crawford though has too much experience here except that he is turning 37 this year. Yes it will be Bud's first time at 154 lbs, but I don't think it will be an issue for him. Perhaps during the fight with Spence he could be very well above 154 lbs during fight night well rehydrated. Pretty sure Crawford rehydrated to around 160 lbs or more during the Spence fight. But he's most likely smaller in this new division because 154 fighters could reach 170 by fight night. Crawford has the skills and power but giving up too much weight during fight nights is too risky as well. At the moment, all the current champions at 154 are yet to defend their belts. I considered ex WBO champ, Tszyu as the best but sadly he suffered a huge cut from an elbow and it cost his belt. So I think all the current champions are at 50/50 against each other.
It was really a huge upset when Fundora won a ugly fight with Tszyu. Maybe they will take a rematch and winner fighting the winner of Crawford vs Madrimov. That will be great for Crawford's legacy as he will get more belts at 154 lbs. But he will be looking for money fight I guess as he is not also getting any younger. I felt bad for Tim.
