521  Economy / Economics / Re: On retirement on: December 09, 2023, 11:00:03 AM
Yes, retirement is doing something you want to do. It's been years now since I stopped doing the 8-5 daily office cycle. I missed it somehow and I might take another 8-5 if it's I am very interested, like traveling and maybe teaching history or social studies.

However, my main goal is to have a stable business that is inclined to my hobbies and interests. The difference though when having a business is there are risks like losing money and failing to profit. While having an interesting job in a company is financially risk-free.
522  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney (9th of December) on: December 09, 2023, 10:40:56 AM
And here's the official weigh in,

Haney - 140 lbs
Prograis - 139 lbs

So no problem for both making the weight for this fight. Here is the video of the weigh-in,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5i1BQ_uXww

Bill Haney and Evins Tobler at it going at each other again. We already know the odds for this fight, the champion is a huge underdog. And I know a couple who are beating on the underdog because of that huge pay day they will got if Prograis pulls a big upset.

I like how Prograis is the last one to back down during the staredown. I can see it in his eyes, he wants to hurt Haney badly. Haney thinks he is scary but as Prograis said before, ain't no pillow puncher scares him. Haney seems a little bigger but I wonder who rehydrates a lot during fight night. Prograis is a regular 140 guy while Haney is still young and growing. The importance of being the heavier and stronger guy at fight night dictates Haney's constant hugs. If Prograis is the stronger guy, he can control the clinches and Haney is in for the fight of his life.

Liam Paro vs Montana Love in the main supporting bout should be a good one. And to those who were disappointed because this is a PPV event, it's because Eddie's favorite fighter is in the undercard. Cheesy
523  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: December 09, 2023, 10:05:08 AM
If Bivol wins this at 168 then he got his dream but if Canelo dismantle Bivol at 168 with that rehydration clause, most of won't mind him winning the fight as this is not what a true warrior in the ring wants.

For sure Canelo will deflect all criticism and says that he still took his revenge win against Bivol. And Bivol can go back to his 175 lbs and maybe fight the other Russian champion and then Canelo continuing his legacy at super middleweight. So for Bivol it could still be a win win situation for him.

Canelo surprised everyone because nobody thought he would pursue a Bivol rematch when he signed a 3-fight deal with PBC. People were expecting Canelo to face PBC fighters especially Jermall Charlo and David Benavidez. Now he's got only 2 fights left and so far there's no update on him taking Benavidez. Jermall Charlo refused the offer before but now that he made a tune-up maybe he should go back to a negotiation deal unless he no longer wants that big payday from Canelo.

So if Bivol gets Canelo's 2nd fight with PBC I wonder if Benavidez will ever get his shot at the real title. If Canelo somehow beats Bivol in the rematch, I expect him to take Crawford as his last fight of the contract and go back to Matchroom.
524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many of These price tragets are realistically possible in 2025 ? on: December 09, 2023, 09:45:42 AM
My expectations are not as high as shown by OP. I am more conservative when it comes to my analysis to avoid getting disappointed. It happened to me during previous cycles wherein I was expecting too much in the price of bitcoin. The difference was only a couple of hundred but I was reluctant to sell so I continued to hold only for the market to slide down later on.

This coming 2025 I am just expecting bitcoin to reach a minimum of $95k. Ethereum at $10k, BNB $1k, Doge $1 and Matic at $5. So the plan is to trade and then be cautious once the prices reach my conservative target.

526  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Should I keep my BNB or Sell it? on: December 07, 2023, 10:20:31 AM
The February verdict on CZ's case might impact BNB's price. But it doesn't mean that it will only fall. There's a possibility that it will pump since BNB is not CZ. The weak hands probably sold their holdings already and maybe some are dumping regularly, so a pump is possible by February. Luckily we are in a mini bull run which is probably why BNB isn't dropping hard.

I am still holding my BNB. I haven't sold even a small portion although I am not planning to buy more at the moment. I'll just have to observe. At the moment, BNB is still next to Ethereum although XRP is getting closer with only a billion in difference.
527  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you still advised more buy and store? on: December 07, 2023, 09:59:48 AM
Of course you should buy bitcoins now, you should buy bitcoins now and save for the long term. Because the price of Bitcoin is about to hit an all-time high. This is likely to happen by the end of 2024. And the price of Bitcoin is currently very high on its growth trajectory. The value of Bitcoin is increasing rapidly. Bitcoin price has increased by 16.1% in the past week alone, and it is still on the rise. lf you buy and hold Bitcoins now, your family will get huge financial support in the future.

Upon reading that you expect bitcoin to reach another ATH by the end of 2024 I checked its price history. Bitcoin indeed made an ATH by the end of 2020 and then it continued to grow to $69k by 2021. So maybe next year which is the halving year will repeat itself. I would be very happy if bitcoin reaches another ATH by next year which means $100k or even more is still very possible by 2025.

So there's still plenty of time to save and then invest. I'm getting more excited but at the same time I am also taking the waiting time to accumulate more before an ATH is reached once again.
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bull Run within Q4 of 2024? on: December 07, 2023, 09:38:46 AM
and many also speculate that bitcoin is currently not experiencing a reasonable increase and will still fall to 20k, they say, I don't know what bad news will result in this, but what I know is news about the cz trial which will occur in February .

I also expect a correction before bitcoin goes to $50k above. This is why I have no plans to buy bitcoin at $42k above for this month's DCA, I'll just have to wait as the market is not just all about upwards but there must be some corrections as well.

But for the speculation about bitcoin dropping to $20k, I doubt it will happen. I would love to make a bet that it won't drop that low within this cycle. I'll even consider it lucky if bitcoin drops to $30k again. So I plan to just accumulate bitcoin if it drops below $40k and then average down everytime it drops a thousand.
529  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney (9th of December) on: December 07, 2023, 09:05:24 AM
Kambosos is a better fighter than Prograis and Haney dominated Kambosos twice,...

I don't know, mate, but I'd like to ask how did you compare these two fighters and see that Kambosos is the better fighter than Prograis? As far as I know, Prograis and Kambosos haven't fought yet, while Kambosos only has two losses, both coming from Haney.

Prograis has only one loss, and that is against Josh Taylor. But that doesn't mean he'll easily lose to Haney just because he isn't undefeated anymore.

For me, it's not even close. Prograis is more proven. He is a 2-time world champion, has successful title defenses and even successfully unified his WBC belt against the WBA champion before losing a very close and highly debatable majority decision against then-IBF champion Josh Taylor in the UK.

Meanwhile, Kambosos was a one-hit wonder. He caught Teofimo's worst night of his life. Before Kambosos' title shot against Teofimo, he only won split decisions over Bey and Selby. Kambosos never successfully defended the belts even once as he was schooled by Haney twice. Old Linares and mediocre Jojo Diaz even performed better than Kambosos against Haney.

Early next year, we're expecting old Loma to travel to Kambosos' backyard in Australia for the vacant IBF belt. That's the last chance for Kambosos to show that he belongs to the top names of the division, otherwise, his victory over Teofimo was just a fluke.
530  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Ryan Garcia vs Oscar Duarte (December 2) on: December 07, 2023, 07:12:02 AM
And just like the rest of us here commenting on the shoulder roll of Ryan, this is what Devin Haney has to say,

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ZTl0eqT4yJY

The title though is a bit misleading, he didn't clown Ryan Garcia, he just shares his opinion with that stance of Garcia and again, majority of us see it as horrible and it seems that Ryan is learning that defense though.

I'm surprised Haney did not laugh or bash Ryan. But probably because he wants Ryan not to get offended so he can take him after Prograis. If Haney wins impressively over Prograis this weekend, I don't know who's next since I cannot think of any fighters in the division that are popular aside from Ryan. If I remember correctly, someone here mentioned Ryan still has a fight remaining under GBP.

Oscar also clarified he never offered Teofimo $1.8M to fight Ryan. So if Teofimo was not lying then Ryan and his team may be the ones making the laughable offer probably just to hype that they are ready for the champions.

^^ And that's why we said that this is a tune up or cherry pick fight for Ryan Garcia as we all know that Duarte can't last full 12 rounds against him. So very good choice for Oscar, to boost Ryan Garcia's confidence with this "great win" from him. And that's what really happen here, Duarte charging as that what his style and Ryan with his improved movement is just waiting to counter him all night.

Although he admit that he did worst impression of the shoulder roll and Derrick James didn't train him to do that. It just come to him maybe from watching other boxers from James stable doing that, hehehe.

Next year will be this division will be one of the hottest I believed, specially on the outcome of the Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney fight. As we might see money fights here with Haney, Lopez and Garcia potentially.

i don't think it was a cherry pick for garcia. because if duarte was really prepared on this fight, i honestly believe garcia would have hard time  inside the ring. i guess it was his lucky day and at least giving a boost morale to himself for his career.
now he can focus on his upcoming fights. and good thing for him as he will be heading to positive direction. because if he lost this one, he may suffer another mental breakdown. so the results of this fight will help him to dedicate himself to improving because he has bigger fights to look forward to.

It's an obvious cherry-pick. Otherwise, why choose someone from 135 when you're fighting at 140? And then later on changed the catchweight to 143. So that was already 2 divisions north of Duarte's usual weight.

Also, I doubt James and even Ryan himself do the awkward Phelly Shell experiment if they did not pick someone slow and will get even slower when moving up 2 divisions.
531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 07, 2023, 06:50:19 AM
A couple games to watch on ESPN tonight. Can’t say I’m too interested in watching the first one but the Timberwolves over the Spurs should be an easy win for bettors. The second game should prove to be a little more exciting as the Nuggets take on the Clippers. Surprisingly the Clippers are the favorite, so I’m wondering if the Nuggets have some people out.

The odds aren't that good for Timberwolves especially when they have the best record in the league at the moment. Luckily, I just watched them trailing 42-48 before the end of the second quarter so I took the -4.5 at 2.02 odds.

So it seems like Wemby and his teammates are making history in the Spurs franchise. 15 straight losses at the moment so one more loss and they are tied at the franchise record. But their next game will be against the Bulls at home, this should be another opportunity for them to stop the bleeding after losing a close game to Atlanta. I'll be taking the ML here just in case the Spurs will fall short again.

The Clippers-Denver game was a surprising one. Denver led by 15 at the end of the first quarter but only to allow the home team to double their score in the second quarter. The defense was good but Jokic missed some shots he should've made.

533  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: December 06, 2023, 01:27:35 PM
Current ML odds have NOP @2.09 while Lakers @1.75 - not a bad deal for either team but I like the chances of the Pelicans winning over the Lakers to reach the in-season tournament Finals. It will be a good match up between Ingram and AD then you have Lebron and Zion. There is probably going to be a block party so watch out for those lines when it opens.

Pretty sure both teams will give it all. The Pelicans have a good line-up which I believe is better. But CJ, Zion, Ingram, and Valanciunas should be able to handle the pressure if they believe the In-Game Season is important. The Lakers though have deep experience compared to the Pelicans. The Pelicans should just give their best and think this is just another ordinary game to avoid pressure. Hachimura, Vanderbilt, and Reaves better be ready to step up because the focus on defending Lebron and AD might shut their offense down.

I am still not sold out on this In-Game thing but at least the semi-finals up to the championship games should be more exciting than these early regular season games.
534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What according to you should be the age to retire from gambling ? on: December 06, 2023, 11:42:42 AM
Older individuals often have a more established financial situation, allowing them the freedom to engage in gambling activities without significant financial constraints. Additionally, with fewer family financial responsibilities at this stage in life, they might feel more at liberty to use their funds for leisure activities, including gambling.

Moreover, having more leisure time is a key factor. Older adults often find themselves with increased free time due to retirement or a reduced workload. Gambling can serve as a form of entertainment during these periods, offering a way to pass the time and perhaps even socialize with others who share similar interests. The combination of financial stability and ample free time creates an environment where older individuals may be more inclined to engage in gambling activities compared to their younger counterparts.

Well said. Sometimes the forum just has lots of weird topics and ideas. Gambling is just another form of entertainment and I don't see why regular but responsible gamblers need to stop even at an old age unless they find another hobby or something more interesting to them.

What I noticed on land-based casinos though is there aren't many senior citizens playing. But maybe because I came from a developing country where the majority of the population isn't rich. However, every time I pass by a bingo casino in the nearby mall, it's flooded with old people, especially women.
535  Economy / Economics / Re: Idea and money are very important to investment. on: December 06, 2023, 11:01:33 AM
I can't believe OP is even asking a shallow question, the answer is very obvious. Seriously, only dumb people invest in something they have no idea about. It always begins with an idea before even starting to invest.

The easiest way to earn income without much idea is by investing money into treasury bills, bonds, and notes. There are also time deposits on banks. These are all safe and secure but the returns aren't that big unless you have millions to invest. The safest and most secure investments mean a low rate of returns.
536  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing: Regis Prograis vs Devin Haney (9th of December) on: December 06, 2023, 10:39:02 AM
I'm not surprised by Haney's move to vacate the belt at 135 lbs. His body has matured already, it's not that he doesn't want to defend it, but I'm seeing that it's more of his body not going to make it or it will be more difficult more his body to squeeze in that weight class.

So even if he doesn't want to, then he has no choice but to go to 140 lbs. And just think about it, if he beats Prograis here, then he will have a belt to defend in the future. So it will not be that easy for him to go back to 135 lbs, and as we have seen, he become undisputed already so nothing to proved there. He should just wait for Shakur or Tank Davis to move up and make that money fight.

Haney did mention that Tank Davis isn't interested in a shot at the undisputed championship. So it's more like Haney was only willing to sacrifice making the weight for a fight against Tank. Haney is mad at Shakur and Loma, and he knows they are too risky for him so he better vacate all his belts blocking them the opportunity to become undisputed in just a single fight. Tank is like a low-risk high-reward fight for Haney whereas with the potential money against risky Loma and Shakur, he can get it at 140 while at the same time he gets the chance to become a 2-division world champion.

We are already at fight week. I like the bad blood between the two. I can feel Prograis is mad at Haney and wants to punish him badly. So he is determined here while Haney is hyping himself and talking about anything including lies to get public attention. Haney is doing the villain role to sell fights.
537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you feeling FOMO like I am? on: December 06, 2023, 10:19:39 AM
Not riding the FOMO here. But I did regret I hadn't followed by monthly DCA dates because I thought I could buy bitcoin at a discount. So I have 2 months of backlogs on my DCA, October and November. The plan is to keep the DCA until bitcoin reaches $50k. But I felt like it is too early for bitcoin to continue its soaring price. I expect a correction in late December or maybe in January and that will be the time I buy bitcoin again. My current plan now is to buy bitcoin when it drops back to $40 and then average down every time it drops a thousand dollars to catch up with my DCA backlogs.
538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk - February 2024 in Saudi Arabia on: December 06, 2023, 09:55:31 AM
^^ Perhaps it was due to Usyk as a natural cruiserweight in my opinion that why he thought that he has that speed against those heavyweights. He shown it twice already against Anthony Joshua as he was able to slip that left hand of his many times because he is quick.

However, if he has the speed then Fury has the height and reach advantage and he knows how to use it. So maybe Usyk can throw some and hit Fury but what if Tyson timing everything and put a good counter and caught Usyk several times in this fight. It could be a factor later in the rounds, championship rounds that can make the difference in this fight if it goes 12 rounds.

Yes, Usyk is just a blown-up cruiserweight. If not for his superb skills and high IQ he could not hang with these heavyweights since he is giving up 10 to 40 pounds of weight.

If Tyson Fury enters the ring with the same weight as his Ngannou fight, he will be around 60 pounds heavier than Usyk. But I guess Fury will be dropping down weight to make him a little lighter since he is facing a speedy technical fighter. I expect Fury to be around 260 and I won't be surprised if he drops as low as 255.

I think Fury will be the aggressor and he won't wait to counter Usyk. Usyk will be too fast so Fury needs to put some pressure. Both fighters can counter each other, Fury with his timing while Usyk with his speed.

The referee will play a very important role here. If the referee allows constant clinches and dirty inside fighting then Usyk will have serious problems dealing with the huge weight disadvantage.
539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Include Or Always Include Gambling In Your New Year's Resolution on: December 05, 2023, 12:06:52 PM
Weird, this did not even come to my mind ever since. But in no way I am including a stop on gambling as my New Year's resolution. I am not a gambling addict so I have no issues with it. My ultimate goal next year is to save as much as possible so I can invest it in bitcoin and some altcoins. I am currently into small-time betting only but I am using bitcoin so I guess I'll be more motivated to be careful with my bets and make sure I have enough knowledge every time I take a bet. Maybe I'll include not being lazy in participating in some great promotions. So that will be all about New Year's resolution related to gambling.
540  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if your country did not legalize cryptocurrency? on: December 05, 2023, 11:40:02 AM
In my country, a lot of cryptocurrencies are legal but the problem is our greedy and corrupt government officials are planning to ban Binance and other centralized exchanges. Many exchanges like Binance wanted a license in my country but they were not given the chance probably because our corrupt officials have under-the-table deals with some exchanges. This way, the few exchanges that have licenses here avoided healthy competition.

At the moment, I noticed 3% to 5% spreads in our local greedy exchanges. So I see it as no difference to countries not legalizing cryptocurrencies. Many centralized exchanges like Binance offer the best experience but they disagree with users using VPNs. So I guess the best ways are probably thru decentralized exchanges or p2p.
