101  Economy / Reputation / [RESOLVED] Trust abuse on: March 20, 2022, 01:43:29 PM
Hello folks,

I would never believe that I would witness such ignorance, resulting in multiple risks for bitcointalk users and several blatant DT abuses from a DT1 member.

This screams to me that not matter how hard you built your trust, if you don’t know such basic inner workings of this forum, you don’t belong on this end of the DT ladder as you can inadvertently do more harm than good.
If you do know how things work down here and did it knowingly, then it’s even worse.

krogothmanhattan (DT1) has an alt account, krogoth (DT2 Roll Eyes ).

I’ll refer to the user behind both profiles as “krog”

1/ Default Trust abuse

krog is abusing the Trust system.
Main account is in DT1 and the other in DT2, user ends up with “2 inclusion votes” for the Trust system.
This is unfair towards the rest of the forum users.

What’s the reasoning behind giving a Trust inclusion to his alt from his main, and another Trust inclusion to his main from his alt ?
Both accounts are currently in DT… Wonderful Roll Eyes Can I do that as well ? Huh  Roll Eyes

krog is also abusing the feedback system as he left himself a positive feedback from his DT1 account to his alt.
This results in an artificially pumped feedback score on his alt account.

WHY does krog intentionally make his ALT account look more trusted than it is ? ? ? Huh Huh Huh
This feedback should have been neutral like johnyUA’s one.

Doing so defies the purpose of using an alt as this alt is used for trading purposes.
In this situation, If the alt account is compromised because the user logged in from a compromised network/device (which is the “purpose” of an alt really);
it is nearly as bad as if the main account was compromised.

If you are a “trusted” user around here, what is the purpose of using an alt account on Bitcointalk ?
Well it’s to mitigate the risk of other users getting scammed by your negligence when you’re about to login on a compromised network/device.

krog, care to explain your thought process ?
You should have already taken the steps so your alt does not end up in DT2.

2/ Using both accounts to Trust exclude a single user

Well, this speaks of itself :

I’m at a loss of words.

Can I do that as well ? Roll Eyes

I believe that krog is dangerous as he puts other’s people funds at risk, demonstrating his nonchalance towards DT / taking steps so his alt account created “FOR UNSECURE CONNECTIONS” is DT2 Roll Eyes )

I do not understand what have I done to deserve such treatment from this user.

After seeing several demonstrations from this user, it is quite obvious that not only would I not trust them, I also tend to seek to prevent other users from possibly losing their BTC.

I mean, he is more than trustworthy when it comes to buying or selling an item, or even escrowing funds for other users, but this is not what my point is about.

Thank you everyone. Smiley
102  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Is it worth collecting old ASIC miners? on: March 19, 2022, 09:21:58 AM
You are still the king of the castle thanks to CK nowdays Grin Grin Grin

wa wa wee wa Grin

I found some old pictures Smiley

Here was my mining setup Tongue
I remember placing an order to buy it in october 2012, for like ~$350.
Only then I realized it was a preorder and it finally arrived in July 2013.
I didn't pay attention to what was going on with this company (Butterfly Labs) back then, but what I know is they've ended up scamming big times.

This was the panel on my notebook laptop Grin

There is a chance mine has been shipped among the first ones. Just look at how the diff went up around July 2013.
This is when the first ASICs have been made available. Smiley

And yeah, I think the wisest was to resell Tongue
I would have never mined that many BTC with it I think ...
Guy who bought it said he has some other great ASIC chips and needed my miner for the PCB.

It happened a long time ago and for sure I didn't have these BTC in 2014 any longer haha.
Well, a fun story and definetely, early ASICs belong in museums. Smiley
103  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Is it worth collecting old ASIC miners? on: March 18, 2022, 11:38:14 PM
Back in the days, I had a BFL Jalapeno. Smiley

Received it in July 2013. I was the king in the castle with my 6,4 Gh/s Tongue
I mined around 0.1BTC / day at that moment for a week.
Then BTC's diff went up by 20% on the next diff readjustment.

I figured out it was better to resell it as there was a huge premium at that moment.
Sold it on Bitmit for 16BTC (~$1400). Tongue

Definetely, these are part of Bitcoin's history.
104  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] 10th Bitbills anniversary commemorative Coldkey on: March 18, 2022, 07:37:55 PM
The Coldkeys displayed in the pictures are imperfect indeed.
They have been produced for our prototype book and to display them.

One set consist of 4 different Coldkeys.
Each existing Coldkey contain an unique pair of keys.
To reply to you : one of these set contains 4 wallets.

I will update it later when I will have the pictures of the Coldkeys that are will be auctioned within a couple hours. Smiley

Ok, so taking into account the 3 editions, there are in total 12 different visuals. Is it correct?

Absolutely, there are 3 different variations of material (white cards, silver and gold ones).
Also, the denominations and colors are a tribute to the original Bitbills : 1mBTC in Blue, 5mBTC in Green, 10BTC in Red, 20BTC in Black.

Are all of these cards made from the same raw materials, and do some contain (plated?) Gold or Silver?

Unfortunately, no. Sad
We cannot realize such high quality cold storage wallets on a metallic support.

Maybe some day down the line we will figure it out, but it's not in our priority list.
107  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SOLD OUT] 20 x Bitbills anniversary commemorative Coldkey sets on: March 18, 2022, 06:34:58 PM
Thanks for the explanations:)
Is there a particular reason for picking 20 numbers (randomly?) from number 11 and number 50,
rather than selling set number 11 to number 30?

Yes, there is a reason but I don't feel comfortable sharing it.
I can be quite superstitious at times and this relates to one of my latest dreams...

Grin

No, just kidding.
It's just because that way, we made it impossible for us to provide x or y serial to the collectors requesting them.
We think this is more fair to everyone since I'd rather have people trade them later rather than reserve serial numbers moving further ahead.

This is just not something feasible fur us any longer.
108  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SOLD OUT] 20 x Bitbills anniversary commemorative Coldkey sets on: March 18, 2022, 06:25:17 PM
gotcha - I was only speculating at why there were gaps.

I simply specified this to make it obvious no one received a favored access to the release. Smiley
109  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] 10th Bitbills anniversary commemorative Coldkey on: March 18, 2022, 05:33:08 PM
Hello,

I apologize for asking, but can you please let's know from the pictures which CK belongs to the gold, resp. silver, resp white edition? Thanks.

Absolutely.

You can tell by looking at the QR code on the front. If the "white part" of the QR code is white, gray (for silver) or gold.
In OP, the first 2 pictures of the 20mBTC Coldkey are plain (white).
The 2 following ones (10mBTC) are Gold.
The last two (1mBTC) are Silver.

I will update the ANN with more content when the auction has started, a bit later today. Smiley
110  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SOLD OUT] 20 x Bitbills anniversary commemorative Coldkey sets on: March 18, 2022, 05:25:46 PM
understood - I basically despise NFT's in general but if I own a physical, it is nice to have the NFT to go with it. But for me, it is better to have the NFT tied to the chain that is the same as the physical item. IMO makes zero sense to have BTC physicals with NFT's on anything other than XCP. The two should go hand in hand - that is my opinion at least. I wont be buying any NFT's that are not on the same chain as the physical.

I feel the same way, I use solona super easy & fast, but would like my physical card to be on the same chain hopefully in the future this can be done , question if you scan the coldkey nft will it bring you to a BTC block explorer? Because I see the real address is there but haven't tried to scan the card would be good to know thank you

Yes, the current use of NFTs is quite rudymentary.
I agree that it would be more coherent to have the NFT's on XCP if our endgoal was to provide NFTs that are similar to today ones.
In my eyes, Solana doesn't even come close to what BTCitcoin represents.

I can not share much more about this for now as we are still elaborating this project.
We chose Solana because it uses a different protocol than Ethereum which has many clones (BSC, Polygon/MATIC, Fantom just to name a few..)

We should witness new use cases develop on networks such as Solana and Bitgert, and we look to bring Coldkey to a next level regarding the functions it offers.
NFTs on Solana will be an integral part of this.

Hello:)

There is something i still don't understand: on one hand i read: "Up for sale today are 20 sets of the plain (white cards) Bitbills 10th anniversary commemorative Coldkey" and on the other hand sets ranging from number 11 to 50 has been sold. Is is a mistake? Sorry...

Hello bestcoin_59 Smiley

Well, 20 sets have been put up for sale.
The numbers that were available are not consecutive.

could be that some people got early access and those numbers were reserved for them - or the ones missing could be the ones in the upcoming auction(s).

There was no reservations granted to anyone.
The 2nd batch of 20 sets will be put up for sale around the end of the month. Smiley

Only the Gold and Silver ones are going to be auctioned.

Lastly, Yogg is off for a much needed sleep soon, so If you need to send Txid's/NFT addresses or anything, just BCC or CC me, and I will keep things up to date while he rests. Wink

Yes indeed, I've been up for far too long.
I will reply to PMs that I received in this matter as of tomorrow.

If you want it to be processed in a most efficient manner, please reach out directly to Owlcatz. Smiley

Thank you a thousand times !
114  Local / Développement et technique / Re: Bitcoin-qt / Core, en 22.0 ? search : bon informaticien, bon développeur ! on: March 17, 2022, 07:50:01 PM
je comprend pas le soucis.

Moi non plus. Sad

Non.

10th Bitbills anniversary commemorative Coldkey

We are proud to announce to you a release to commemorate the 1st ever loaded physical crypto item : Bitbills.
Thank you very much ChiBitCTy for sharing with us this original idea.
Without you, these magnificent Coldkeys would not exist. Smiley

Bitbills have been available in 2011 for a short period of time.
Not many Bitbills are in existence, demand was limited given the cypherpunk nature of BTCitcoin and the time it needed to ramp up in power.

Nowadays, original Bitbills are among the most desirable physical BTCitcoins.
One Bitbill, any one of them, is worth a small fortune.

We are happy to celebrate Bitbills, and remind of them as the originator of the physical Bitcoin movement.

This Coldkey release is made of 50 sets of 4 Coldkeys.
3 sets are in Gold, serialized from #1 to #3.
7 sets are in Silver, serialized from #4 to #10.
40 sets are on plain white cards, serialized from #11 to #50.
Retail price for a full set of plain (white) 4 commemorative Coldkeys is $160.

They are denominated at the original BTC of Bitbills but divided by 1,000. Tongue
These Coldkeys are Buyer Funded.

The Gold and Silver sets are going to be auctioned in two times.
The Regular plain Coldkeys are also going to be sold in two times.

Sales to start soon. Smiley
Auction to start tomorrow.

The Gold and Silver sets will come with Coldkey NFTs. Smiley
(Exemple of a Gold Coldkey NFT : https://solscan.io/token/7MzYzd27VbwoterHhSHK35fnzyF58TqXUc61HreJd6KZ )

Plain Coldkey sets buyers will have the option to receive the NFTs matching their physical Coldkeys for an additional $80.

They are minted on Solana. You can use Phantom wallet in a browser to receive your Coldkey NFT.

Thank you very much for reading ! Smiley

120  Economy / Collectibles / [COLDKEY] Project status as of the 16th Mar 2022 + sneak peek of what's to come on: March 16, 2022, 03:26:02 AM
Hello everybody Smiley

I've been taking some time to get Coldkey back on it's feet, mainly to avoid the same mistakes on my end.
Really, providing cool and meaningful cold storage wallets is a heck of a dream job. Smiley

We believe that the dawn of physical crypto items didn't occur yet, and are taking every step to make Coldkey a perennial project in the industry.

So in order to bring our project to the next level, I'm honored and blessed to welcome owlcatz within Coldkey.

Moving forward, he will be primarily responsible for interfacing with you, Coldkey aficionados. Grin
He will also be helping with the website, as his experience and knowledge of IT is very precious.
From now on, we are making things happen at Coldkey together.

Honestly if it wasn't for Zepher, owlcatz and I wouldn't have this friendship going on.
(miss you so so much Z... ='( <3)

We're currently setting up the Discord and refining our backend systems.
A new website will be available very shortly as well.

I and only myself will remain in charge of generating the private keys and producing the Coldkeys.
This will be well specified furthermore on the upcoming Coldkey website.

Besides this amazing news, a few updates for you :

- If you are a customer with an outstanding order from me, owlcatz will be reaching out to you very soon to sort out the situation.

- A new limited Coldkey release is going to be announced and available as of tomorrow.
(It's going to happen in the oldschool bitcointalk way. Sales on thread. Cool )

- We don't want to overshare our plans, and there is much much more to come ! Prepare to be blown away. Smiley

Vive la Coldkey ! Smiley
