However, my goal isn't to expose them and bring them down. Besides, other scammers might exploit the breach if it's revealed.
You would not have needed to reveal the method of breach to reveal the theft. A siimple tx showing the destination address of funds and proving it belongs to thieves would be enough. You have successfully used this thread to 'expose' them and yes, done nothing but brought potential harm without proving anything. I don't think any real harm can be done without any proof. Without that it's just someone shouting into the void so to speak. Without more proof from the OP or a response from FreeBitco.in it's not worth trying to figure out if anything really happened. -Dave

... Yes, I am aware that this setup will thrash the disk a lot. However, the disk and network are in excellent condition - NVMe SSD and 1Gbps network respectively. So how long should I expect the validation to take?
Without more info the last time I tried something like this which was close to a year ago it was just about 3 weeks. And will I run out of memory before it finishes?
Memory, no. Patience perhaps. Do you have a complete fully synced node that you trust? You can just copy everything over. -Dave

I'm putting it more as a US based company that has mostly US based clients (Robinhood) wanted to expand their crypto portfolio into more parts of the world and buying BitStamp is a move in that direction. This way if their crypto trading side gets shut down in the US for some reason they have an non US based platform to keep them going.

... 5.) If slow, then I am going to order this -> Beelink SER5 MAX RYZEN 7 5800H Mini pc office + Ram32GB + Storage 1TB ...
Depending on where you are in the world since prices vary a lot you can get the 16GB Intel N100 version with a 512GB drive and then buy a 1TB and a m.2 to USB adapter for the 512GB that comes with the unit for 1/2 the price of what you are looking at. Yes it's 16GB vs 32GB but you get to reuse the 512GB m.2 for something. AND the Intel uses a fraction of the power of the AMD so it's cheaper to run and less noise. YES it's slower, but once the initial sync is done and it's just running the node & JoinMarket and a few other things it's more then enough. -Dave

It seems that one or more entities already throw some spare ASICs to mine in Testnet4, hell, for whatever reasons. It takes just one to force others to follow that path and leave everybody else without ASICs behind. Anyway, in a trustless PoW scenario miners can do what they're are able to with their gear, you can't control that. Why wouldn't history of Testnet3 repeat in Testnet4?
Does it make sense to drive difficulty up to levels where only few dare to waste money for energy for a worthless-by-design-and-intention coin like tBTC? I don't think so.
It would be more fun for participants to be able to mine Testnet4 with CPU cycles in a truely decentralized fashion. But that's not gonna work with human mindsets unfortunately. Only if we had an ASIC-resistant hashing algorithm for Testnet4, but then Testnet4 would diverge from Mainnet too much.
Makes you wonder if a very minor change (yeah I know there is no such thing as a minor change) but setting a max difficulty in testnet and known EOL would help. So yeah mine all you want with whatever ASIC you have as of Jan 1 2025 testnet 4 is going to become testnet 5 and Jan 1 2026 testnet 5 goes away and becomes testnet And so on. It's not like the old testnets will stop working just new ones will start. Not going to happen and there are probably 100s of reasons why it's not a good idea but it's at least a thought. -Dave

Without the OP even showing what funds went where it's not even worth thinking about.
That is the good things about crypto and public ledgers.
You don't have to show how it was done or where the vulnerabilities are, but showing that X coins from wallet Y went to Z address is a simple thing to show everyone that it really happened.

There's nothing new to see here. We've seen it play out before on this forum. Fake questions to shill their scam garbage.
It's a waste of everyone's time. Get lost!
Yup. Just left them some negative trust. Not that anyone would fall for something that is so obviously a fraud, but can't hurt. It's funny I was just thinking about this the other day.
I have some BTC in cold storage, when BTC hits $80000 I am probably going to sell some. I have had it for wayyyyyyy longer then a year it should be taxed as long term capital gains. Any investment more then 1 year in the US is 'long term'
But, since I will move it from cold storage to a hot wallet to an exchange it makes it means that if it does get flagged with a this is a short term gain (higher taxes) not a long term gain I have to then jump through some hoops to prove it was sitting in cold storage since 201x and the old address is still mine.
If I could have a way to prove that it is mine now it could save time and effort later.
Not hiding from the tax man, I will make a profit on it and have no issues paying what I owe in taxes. Paying more then I should because I can't prove something would piss me off.

1) I5 is a bit vague. The original Intel Core i5 was released almost 15 years ago. What gen is yours? 2) The 500 GB drive is not large enough you need at least 1 TB now. https://www.blockchain.com/explorer/charts/blocks-size 3) How fast is your connection? Downloading 540GB on a 1M connection is still going to take a while no matter what else you have. -Dave

is it also possible to connect one or more avalon3 miners to a 2000w 6pin mining power supply? still have a few slots/6pin cables free...
It's a USB C power input on the miner so no. Different power outputs then the 6 pin PCIe power https://www.ti.com/lit/wp/slyy109b/slyy109b.pdfThey designed it around having USB C you could probably pull it apart and figure out the voltages but it's going to be a more of a project then it's worth. -Dave

... new MacBook Pro connected to gigabit ethernet...
New Pros don't have a gigabit ethernet port are you using an adapter? If so is it a 'name brand' or a $9.99 one from Amazon? Are you running anything else while downloading or is anything else accessing the external drive? If you go to https://bitnodes.io/#join-the-network do you see your public IP? -Dave

Don't worry they will be back with UMG2 or whatever. The truth is I can start a ponzi or a casino with a domain like thehousewillalways.win or youwillnever.win and people would still show up and play. So pushing something like UMG is not totally crazy if your goal is to separate people from their money.
-Dave
It's an IQ test like the Nigerian scams... If you're dumb enough to look past the horrible spelling and the absurd premise then you're more likely to fall for the actual scam down the road. The sad part IMO is that they are not even trying. No cloudflare or any front end protection, a free SSL, hosted on an IP that is on a few blacklists for spam. I still have more to look through, but I did support the flag, now it's just seeing how bad it really is. Would like to say I don't get it, but we have seen so many other obvious scams that one more like this just blends into the others and will then the next one will come along. -Dave

Just posted, sorry didn't see your reply. Something funky going on since you usually get the 'another post has been made' thing. Probably just missed it since I am remote into a multi screen machine probably have a browser tap open on the other screen.
If you still want to do the loan (since you did post 1st) let me know. Just send the USDT to my address and have @HedgeFx pay you back.
Again, sorry my bad.

Likewise, UMG, just like Bitwinup, is scam protected, since the house, is profiting off taking a small fee, and not interfering with users, bets.
This, like, many, other, statements, in, your, OP, is, a, blatant, lie. House, edge, does, not, protect, from, scams, and, trying, to, claim, otherwise, makes, you, look, even, more, of, a, scammer. Any reason nobody has opened up a flag on the OP? Looking at what is going on and what they are claiming it seems like one is needed. Personally, I have not dug enough into it to see but from a quick glance it seems others have been looking at the site and coming up with a lot of things that are wrong with it. -Dave

A while ago 2021 or 22 I was seeing a bunch of billboards around the NYC area with ads for Gemini and some other exchange.
There were also a couple in Vegas that I saw during one of the BlackHat & DefCon conventions back in 2018 I think. Could have been earlier, next time I was there they were gone. Has anyone ever seen anything advertised on a billboard and then actually bought / researched the product recently? I could see it happening years ago before the internet but now I don't see it as a useful way to advertise.

Since my last post in this thread it seems FixedFloat has been hacked on more than one occasion and add to that the piling up of scam accusations against them.
I would once again advise you to never use the FixedFloat plugin for your BTCPay Server or even their website as a stand alone tool to exchange your crypto because you cannot be guaranteed to receive the funds and in that case the safest thing to do would be to use an alternative.
I would avoid using any plugins with BTCPay or anything doing any kind of crypto processing. Just my view but once you start moving funds or dealing with anything like that unless you are willing do deal with any other issues that might come up the little extra revenue you are going to make is not going to be worth it. As always just my opinion, but why go adding risk and complexity. -Dave
