101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Since SC2 is dead, maybe it is a good time to release the sources ? on: October 12, 2011, 12:06:57 PM
So far, "premine affects adoption" theory has seen zero confirmation in actual reality.

Now, shitty code and ill-constructed diff adjust, those will leave a dent. Or two.
102  Economy / Gambling / [TBX bounty] Ponzi game for Tenebrix on: October 12, 2011, 11:12:23 AM
One more bounty for seasoned developers and "c-currency ponzi game" operators to take a stab at

Make a TBX ponzi game
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE][BOUNTY] Second Tenebrix Service bounty - a Tenebrix Ponzi "Game" on: October 12, 2011, 10:57:00 AM
Well, terry said he's not much into ponzi's propper and would rather work on other things

Any other takers ?
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SC Releases his 'white paper', hilarity ensues on: October 12, 2011, 08:44:24 AM
You forgot "ccurrency that places extortion right in the blockchain" and "first ccurrency to openly engage in blatant electricity theft"
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SC Releases his 'white paper', hilarity ensues on: October 12, 2011, 08:38:47 AM
Actually, that ^ claim could be proven true or false provided source code is made available.

Where be SC2 sources ?
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SC Releases his 'white paper', hilarity ensues on: October 12, 2011, 08:08:42 AM
Tenebrix can never do that with a stated intent of the pregenned wallet being used for laundering purposes: if all transactions are described then laundering can't work, whilst if all aren't detailed then it can never be proven that the pregenned funds haven't been dumped on exchanges.

With all due respect, this is untrue. Not only public monitoring of the laundry is possible without destroying its functionality, Coblee here has proposed a very elegant "laundry super-hardening" security mechanism that, upon laundry's creation, will be eventually deployed in a voluntary manner (since I don't want to force anyone to contribute to hardening the laundry).

I think you can go to the main TBX thread to read up both on laundry monitoring and Coblee's proposal.

P.S.:

Having said that, "I give my buddeh's a millyoon but they can only pay me with it" seems like an awfully contrived scheme.

You have a small cohort of nodes mining the specialsauce blocks

Attacker just gotta catch them all...
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tenebrix, a CPU-friendly, GPU-hostile cryptocurrency on: October 11, 2011, 01:58:54 PM
So far, we have the twobits binaries (which btw are a mite cunning) and Nicksasa's upcoming ones.
109  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: October 11, 2011, 01:48:30 PM
Does your math account for the "compensation million" ?
110  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: October 11, 2011, 01:09:58 PM
TBX and SLC merge-mining is unlikely, assuming the PoW algos are different.

Anyway, I find the hypothesis that this spike is legitimate miners to be fairly implausible, but I guess we will have to wait and see how it will play out.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SolidCoin 2 Release - Monday 10th October 23:35 UTC on: October 11, 2011, 01:03:03 PM
The whole problem is that formally, this behavior might very well be normal, much like formally, "Mr. Big McHuge" steamrolling the "simple guys" chain in Fairbrix was "normal per protocol
112  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: October 11, 2011, 12:53:44 PM
Well, your chain will soon have about a million rapidmined coins that are guaranteed to flood the market

Good game, SC2

Lolcust I thought you were at least reasonably psuedo-sane... not expecting you to be pro-solidcoin but even in discussions I have seen you have and your adoption of my language on how to describe the fixed "inflation" rate to people who don't understand the difference in "inflation" and coin growth should know that the first couple weeks, heck the first couple months or years are a hiccup in the pricing model....

At this point it's not an inflation issue.

It's a "dude(s?) with absurd amount of coins, absolutely no long-term plan, and openly hostile attitude" issue, unless you are willing to claim that the current state of affairs is primarily due to legitimate miners and not shenanigans on part of a hostile party.

Haxing solidcoins, sir!
114  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: October 11, 2011, 12:18:27 PM

Oh come on, Namecoin is ossom, at the very least.

Also TBX is ossom too ^__^
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Since SC2 is dead, maybe it is a good time to release the sources ? on: October 11, 2011, 11:46:04 AM
So other people can gaze at the dissected cadaver and learn what NOT to do ?
118  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: October 11, 2011, 11:35:46 AM
This incident teaches us that pig-to-peer networks are bad and their designers should feel bad about them.

An important lesson.
119  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: October 11, 2011, 09:59:01 AM
Science fact: A million premined affects the market far less than a million hax-mined.
120  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: October 11, 2011, 09:46:44 AM
So actually Protecshun fund is more like 5% extortion + 5% theft ? Ossom.
