Oh I see that people are finally starting to realize that bitcoin is a dead old horse, I was amazed with Ethereum when they released their first beta, the Block size cluster fuck debate just sped up things.

Please make sure you all update ASAP, this update comes with important bug fixes
Download your wallets from our website or from our GitHub releases

This is a new update that fixes yesterday's (08-03-2016) bug that prevents sending transactions, please re-download your wallets

I know it is annoying to re-download many times in a short time, but this is an important update.

yes, it is OK.
105  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin at the edge of death on: March 05, 2016, 11:51:05 AM

So, the Chinese government have the power to kill Bitcoin overnight, all they need is a good reason to do it, and ya know what, stranger things will have happened.

Totally Agree, I was trying to point the technical issues, we can talk all day if we start thinking about the fundamental fails in Bitcoin right now. Although now alternative is safe from this one yet.
106  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin at the edge of death on: March 05, 2016, 08:54:27 AM
Bitcoin is facing more problems than most of people even can imagine, the most important ones that are effecting the protocol now are the Block size limit and the difficulty retarget algorithm.

We all know that Bitcoin is facing a big problem with full blocks and a very long queue of transactions even with included fee (a free transaction is a long dead concept in Bitcoin) waiting to be included in the next blocks, The cluster fuck that they call a debate that was caused by this, made a small technical problem a big issue, two camps fighting over what should be done while Bitcoin network is struggling and losing users and potential adopters and most importantly its legitimacy!

but here is how this situation can get even worst! soon (sometime in July) we will have another Halving which will bring the reward from 25 to 12.5 BTC, with a competitive mining, miners are mining at small profit margins, a declining price of bitcoin and a halving reward means that miners will be mining at loss which will result in shunting down many Data centers and cause another cluster fuck, difficulty will stay the same while the hashrate will experience a significant fall, blocks will take a long time to be mined which will result in a bigger transactions  queue (maybe one that we didn't experience yet)and constant full blocks for weeks maybe even if users will panic months.

This is all came at a the worst time possible, there are many other and better alternatives, adopters are asking: Why wait for a dying horse when you can ride a rocket ? the scripting features in Bitcoin are primitive and allow for very simple things, Like Nick Szabo said "Bitcoin is a pocket calculator, Ethereum is a general purpose computer", this is why Ethereum is booming now.

While The Bitcoin cult is still lost in delusion, smart people are looking and switching to better alternatives that beats the Bitcoin tech, Bitcoin has only a couple of months to get its shit together, but even then, it lost the battle in my opinion.

@Everyone

The Creditbit ticker will be changed from CREDIT to CRBIT in order to meet some standards, this will grant us the addition to bittrex as well. All our GitHub repos will be updated soon, our wallets will be recompiled and published with the change and with updates that weren't pushed yet (Qt wallet will be v 1.3.0.0 to fix some bugs).

I would like to know if everyone is in favor, if not I would like to know why ?

For all mobile wallet and web wallet users, please make sure you backup your wallet, we can't help you if your hardware fail/is lost, please don't have any major amount on your mobile/web wallet, make sure that you understand the risks before using these wallets.

BTW, we are aware of the mobile wallet problems and we are working on fixing them.

The block explorer is re-syncing, meanwhile you can use https://creditsight.creditbit.org/

Any idea the approximate coin supply at the end of POW?

As i capculate i think around 13.5 mio total but i am not total sure! I am sure mmitech or creditbit can tell!
Not much coins left to mine 😜

between PoW and PoS blocks we will have theoretically around 13 Million CREDIT.

Last few weeks it was monday til thursday: moon!
Friday: not much happening
Weekend: craaaash!

600BTC sold in 1 and a half hours I cant understand a bigger crash than that ATM.
but ETH recovered...

A little advice: Always zoom out and check how much volume there was before a price rise and at lower prices. After a pump it's pretty normal that it goes down with an equal volume but very often not that fast. It's not possible to make safe predictions but if there should be a quiet time in the next days and weeks, and if BTC should rise, I would expect that it will go down even more. Maybe to 0.008 or something like that. But: Impossible to be sure about it, because it's obviously wanted.

Yes it is obvious that the price will correct, maybe to less than what you mentioned before, I think it could go to as low as 0.004 (a factor of 4.25, especially if BTC goes up).

Even if the price goes to 0.004, it is still profitable for some miners to mine and sell. So the price could go even lower.

I doubt we will go that low. I think there is genuine interest in ETH and Homestead release is most likely coming soon. My guess is we might see 800k but not much lower. Of course I might be totally wrong.  Cheesy

Homestead is priced in, everybody knows about the release so it is not news that could create a spike, there is really genuine interest in Ethereum, I really think it is brilliant, but price discovery doesn't work that way... and BTW I never said that it will stay at 0.004 level.

EDIT: This is not a trading advice, this is just an educated opinion and you shouldn't consider it as a base for your trades (I usually pull these predictions out of my ass).
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: February 10, 2016, 03:38:48 PM
a lot of ppl are gonna get rekt here if they've been buying at these rates.  when the whales pull that support the price will drop like a brick.  better hope there's a round 2 in the future.
Still think it is a solid buy for mid-long term, although the price can (or certainly will) correct, I still don't have the balls to trade this... Most my friends swapped at least half of their BTC stash, the others still wish to do so but are not certain if it is a good time to buy (they held the same opinion since $1.5).

But to be honest, huge uncertainty is surrounding Bitcoin right now, this is the best chance for Ethereum (and other alts) to get more attention and eventually more adoption.

Just wanted to point out that we slowed down a bit with development to work a bit more on adoption (as mentioned in the slack channel), We can be uber productive as developers and we wouldn't add much value, the adoption is what bring value to Creditbit, this is why we will work as much as possible to get Creditbit add to exchanges and promote it in the community.

119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: February 09, 2016, 05:44:07 PM
I feel that 0.01 is the short term peak for ETH. ETH has risen sharply for the past few days and it would need to consolidate before going above 0.01 again. I can't believe that ETH is 0.01 again when it was less than 0.002 last year.

That is completely irrelevant by the way, we don't really care about the value of Ethereum against BTC but against Fiat (USD), Bitcoin is losing its value and don't get tricked with the ETH/BTC trading value at all.

Who are "we" and why do they care about USD (not BTC, CNY, GBP etc)?

If most of the volume comes from BTC trade, then analysing the price in bitcoin is more than appropriate.

Most of the volume comes from BTC because it is fast and convenient to move around,  most users use their already open and verified accounts (Coinbase/Bitstamp/Bitfinex...) to get fiat in and out quickly.

IMO ETH/BTC is really irrelevant because Bitcoin value is volatile, normally we should be looking to the value of Ethereum against fiat currencies (USD/EUR/CNY/GBP....).

When you say "100$ in the next couple of years seems really plausible" do you mean for current value of Bitcoin ? Because in 10 years, even if the price decrease a lot, it will still be worth at least 20$ because of Bitcoin's price increase.

No, I mean the value of Ethereum, and I think it is a sane prediction, especially when comparing it to the value of the dying horse (Bitcoin if you didn't get it) with consideration to its limitations.
