Following. Any updates on the operational status?
1002  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: January 21, 2012, 05:37:50 AM
Slight bump on my earlier question. 3 of my 5 cards (5870s) are mining at only about 50% load in BAMT. CPU usage shows 1 core maxed, the other unused. (C2D E8500) All GPUs have been tested and work @ 100% load with Ubuntu 11.04/Phoenix/phatk2. Seems to me like BAMT is only using one core of the CPU - how do I configure it to use both? (I looked on the wiki & searched the forums, both returned nothing)

How are the invites going? Waiting expectantly for mine...  Grin
1004  Economy / Services / Re: Announcing....BitVPS! Premium VPS / Dedicated Servers for Bitcoins! on: January 21, 2012, 03:47:25 AM
I'd like to order from you guys; you have reasonable prices and a good reputation, along with accepting Bitcoins. I have no experience with VPSs though; all previous web work I've done through cPanel. I'm fine with working in the command line; but I've never set up a web server that way before. Two questions: Do you recommend any particular OS for a "newbie" to VPSs, and do you know of any particularly good tutorials for setting up a web server with a VPS?

Thanks in advance,
BinaryMage

I'm having problems since a few days with a higher reject rate which you can have a look at here:

Out of curiosity, what management software are you using there? Looks pretty slick.

What exactly does 10 "Accounts" mean on the developer package? Does it mean 10 sites, or 10 sub-accounts you can resell? In addition, do the other packages have limits on number of sites?
1007  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: January 19, 2012, 04:42:30 PM

How did you manage to fix it ?

It seems I am having the same issue. Black screen and CTRL ALT F1 does nothing and neither is num lock working.

I had five cards on one motherboard; the BIOS and initial boot screen would output to the first card, in a PCIe x1 slot, while X would output to the first card in a PCIe x16 slot. Try all the cards on your mobo connected to PCIe x16 slots. Ctrl-Alt-F1 worked for me even on the first card, though, our problems may not be the same.

I've added additional stats to both text messages and emails.  Should go out next block solve (after 162815).

*EDIT* Had the numbers backwards.  Next block should have correct hashrate calculations.

That was our shortest block yet.  Only 2777 shares!

Glad to get a piece of it!
1009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Support bitcoin.org SOPA blackout on 18 Jan on: January 18, 2012, 04:22:55 AM

Please don't misquote me, especially when I prefer midget porn.

i think the US likely won't care at all where a site is hosted or the citizenship of it's owner. if they can take down a .com, they will.

Being rude won't help your argument. I disagree entirely, but who knows. If the measure is passed, we will see who is correct. If not, I'll be glad to never resolve this dispute.
1010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Support bitcoin.org SOPA blackout on 18 Jan on: January 18, 2012, 03:42:38 AM
fixed... millions of people around the world use .coms.

Please don't misquote me, especially when it is not what I said at all. Citizens != domain names, last time I checked. I think the US is likely not to enact many changes with significant global impact due to the foreign policy issues it would cause, as I stated. Don't get me wrong, I am entirely opposed to SOPA/PIPA, along with Internet censorship in general. I just think that the media is so focused on SOPA that other occurrences of this sort get glazed over.
1011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Support bitcoin.org SOPA blackout on 18 Jan on: January 18, 2012, 03:32:25 AM

that argument doesn't work, because America still has basic control of the domain name system, other countries do not.

theoretically if the US gov wanted to, it could take down fakerolex.com.ng permanently and globally, but i don't think the nigerian government could take down fakerolex.com globally.

I certainly agree it has more global ramifications, but to the residents of America versus the residents of another country enacting a similar measure, the effects are close. I'm just stating that we should not consider the effects on American citizens more important than the effects of people of another nationality. Maybe I didn't make that clear; I'll clarify my post a bit. And, while you are theoretically correct, the "right" to do what you described granted by SOPA/PIPA does not necessarily mean the act of doing so would take place. I doubt Nigeria would take kindly to the US taking down one of its websites, and I doubt the US would do so due to the inevitable foreign relations problems it would cause. Most of the results of SOPA/PIPA legislation being passed would likely affect US citizens only.
1012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Support bitcoin.org SOPA blackout on 18 Jan on: January 18, 2012, 02:10:40 AM
SOPA/PIPA certainly is a dangerous piece of legislation with unpredictable and possibly harmful consequences. It is not, however, either certainly devastating nor a unique danger. The act itself is only creating so much news buzz because of the country it is proposed in. Many countries already have this sort of legislation. Did we blackout for those? No. US citizens should not be held to a different level of importance than citizens of another country.

However, I do not suggest we ignore this phenomenon. Internet censorship is immoral and potentially quite dangerous. I certainly think that the Bitcoin community in general is and should be opposed to it, and there is nothing wrong with vocalizing our opposition. Neither is there anything wrong with mentioning SOPA/PIPA. It is, though not inherently more dangerous to Americans than measures in other countries have been to their citizens, probably more impactful to the world at large due to the USA's sizable influence, control of key DNS systems, and the not unlikely possibility that other countries may follow in America's footsteps if the measure does indeed get passed.

My personal opinion, and recommendation, is as such: A "soft" blackout, with a splash page focused more on anti-censorship than SOPA/PIPA, though the latter should certainly be mentioned. Make sure to be clear that the Bitcoin community is opposed to censorship in all forms, and that SOPA/PIPA is not the only nor necessarily the worst danger in regards to Internet censorship. I was surprised to see the results showing that a full blackout was in second place. Our purpose here is to inform people. Not allowing them to access the actual site will not make them read the splash page, and it could certainly be frustrating for people wanting to get into Bitcoin, maybe even due to the large amount of news surrounding Internet censorship, some of which includes references to this and other methods of circumventing/protecting against such measures. We want to let people know what's going on, not frustrate them and potentially dissuade them from joining our community.
1013  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: January 15, 2012, 07:19:02 AM

Thanks, I managed to fix this. Turns out X was outputting through a different GPU. Now it's mining, but 3 of my cards are only about 50% load... Aggression is set at 14, any ideas?
1014  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: January 15, 2012, 12:59:20 AM
Also seeding.

I'm having an issue getting BAMT to run on my miner. (5x 5870 on a GA-EP45-UD3P) When I boot, it initially loads fine, but when I get to the part where it would normally load X, the screen just turns black. Ctrl-Alt-F1 out works, but it takes me to a terminal running post-mining scripts which I cannot Ctrl-C to end. (nor do they end on their own) Ctrl-Alt-F2/F3/etc do not work either, they just take me to a flashing underscore, and again Ctrl-C does nothing. Any advice?

1017  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Information on ATI 7xxx Series Dec. 5th! on: December 22, 2011, 06:10:39 AM

That is quite impressive, though I doubt the ~2x speed boost will entirely translate to mining. Many of the benchmarks from the review showed more like a 50% increase, anyways. Cost-wise, at a MSRP of $550, so $450-$500 at Newegg, it still would not be as good a deal as older cards in MH/s per dollar. Electricity costs could be cut, certainly, but if electricity is your main hindrance to profitability, FPGAs will still be way more efficient in MH/s per joule.
1018  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [250 GH/s] EMC: 0 Fee/DGM/Merged Mining/PayPal Payout/SMS/US/EU/AU/More on: December 21, 2011, 11:50:55 PM
I think there might be some confusion over payout lock and how it's displayed.  Some people think it's active when it's not.

If you see a link that says "Activate Payout Lock" then it's not active.  Once it's active, that link will be gone forever.  Once you activate payout lock, it can not be deactivated through any method available through the pool.  Right now, the only indication that payout lock is active is the fact that the link is gone.

I think I will make a more prominent status indicator to show if payout lock is enabled or not.  Does anyone have suggestions on how to make it more clear?

What you just implemented, the green bar, seems quite sufficient to me.

Oh sorry, BinaryMage, I meant to answer you:

No, there is no fee charged for the conversion.  It is done at the straight daily average or last trade (whichever is less) of NMC -> BTC with no fees applied.

Awesome! Thanks for clarifying.
1020  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [200 GH/s] EMC: 0 Fee/DGM/Merged Mining/PayPal Payout/SMS/US/EU/AU/More on: December 21, 2011, 09:04:57 PM
Joined (back after hiatus). Glad to see merged mining. Question: The website states that you charge only a fee for conversion of BTC to PayPal, implying that you do not charge for conversion of NMC to BTC, but the latter is not stated outright, and I wanted to double check. Do you, or do you use an exchange that does, charge a fee for that conversion?

Restating question, seems it might have been missed.  Wink
